[Day: Friday, March 21st. Time: 2:50 p.m.] [Weather: Warm, Sunny, with only a few clouds here and there.] [Yesterday, Kyon went home, expecting Arisu to follow him soon after. She never did. His last class has just let out; time to find out why.] [Session Start] * Kyon closes up his books, stuffs them in his bag, and slings it over his shoulder as he makes his way down to the newspaper office. [The office is empty! No Arisu, no Chikako... nada.] * Kyon blows out a breath, and looks up and down the hall to see if there's anyone else he knows that might have seen them around here. * Arisu happens to be coming down the hall, at that. * Kyon turns to face her, rocking back on his heels as he does so. He looks down at her as she comes, and waves tersely. Mr. VP. I'd thought you would be heading to the hospital. I can't say I expected to find you here. * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "Didn't show up yesterday, after setting up your exclusive. Was wondering why." Yes, I'd intended to visit you, but it seems my memory vanished again as I got onto the subway. * Kyon smirks. "How can you remember that if your memory got wiped?" I wrote it down, like I always do. I'm very careful as a reporter, and taking good notes is the best way to remember things, although I can't say I'd ever have expected to use them to remember anything about a story like this. * Kyon nods quickly, and looks towards the office. "Got a lot of details there, then?" Of course I wouldn't keep them here; someone else might find them, and I wouldn't want that before I was ready. * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "In your notes. What it was that made you remember." Oh. Yes, of course. I've kept very detailed notes, especially since something started erasing my memory; in fact, the memory loss only further suggests the validity of what I suspect. * Kyon stalks over towards the office. "Right. Not really a natural occurrence." * Arisu follows. "Indeed, that's quite right." * Kyon moves in, and sits down, tugging his deck of cards from his pocket as he does so. He shuffles it a couple of times loudly. * Arisu follows him in. "Ah, the cards." * Kyon nods, shuffles them again, fans them, and holds them to her with the backs to her, his face cool. * Arisu blinks at them, and gives Kyon a questioning look. * Kyon nods quickly at the cards. "Take one." ( Did we do this already? ) (Even if you did, he's doing it again.) * Arisu shrugs and takes one at random. "So, I want to know what it is that you are, exactly. Vigilantees with super powers.... sounds like an American comic book, like Spiderman or the X-men. Or maybe the Avengers... I never did like the West Coast Avengers. I'm glad they're gone..." She babbles. * Kyon ignores what she's saying, and gestures for her to show him the card. * Arisu comes into reality again long enough to show Kyon the four of pentacles. * Kyon takes the card back, and shuffles it back in, then fans them out again. * Arisu is babbling about Alpha Flight, and doesn't notice. * Kyon presents them more towards her, with a flourish. * Arisu notices that time. "What, again?" Only works if you do it twice. What works? It's a test. To see if you are one. * Arisu plucks another from the deck. "Hmmm... Is it?" * Kyon rolls his eyes. "Show me, and I'll know." * Arisu shows it: The Star. * Kyon nods quickly, and takes it back. "These days, don't want to take chances. You're not." I rather didn't think I was. * Kyon smirks. "I've had some problems with impostors lately. Really? How so? * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Not worth explaining. Illusions, smoke and mirrors." I'll accept that for now. * Kyon leans back in the chair, and presses his feet hard on the floor. "What do you want to know?" * Arisu crosses her legs. "Everything. What are you?" * Kyon looks back over his shoulder at the door to make sure it's closed. [It's closed.] * Kyon looks back to her sidewise. "Embodiments of these. To a degree." He slaps the pile of cards on the table. * Arisu picks them up and sifts through them. "To a degree... What about the powers, then?" * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Depends. Some are linked to the cards. Some don't seem to be, as much." How so? * Kyon points at the deck. "For instance. I'm the Queen of Wands. Some fire to her in the powers. So I've got fire in mine." Mmmm, but you don't look like a Queen. That must be the 'degree' part. * Kyon looks at her more head-on, and his face cools off. "It's a card. Personfication doesn't matter. Her powers don't include precognition. Mine do." I bet that's useful. * Kyon shrugs disinterestedly. "Sometimes. Need to figure out exactly what it means before it's useful." Mmm... So who else is an Arcana? * Kyon shakes his head bemusedly. "Does it matter? You don't get to use our names, anyway. Or did you lose that part in your notes?" Perhaps I did. Either way, it's pretty clear that you're not all on the same side. I can only infer that there are other "Supervillians". * Kyon smirks. "Depends on how you look at it. Some of us have worse goals than others. All I want to do is make it through. Whatever that takes." Make it through what, specifically? * Kyon looks at her more head on. "Now? The drugs, they're largely targeted at us. For whatever reason. There are factions that want to eliminate other Arcana. Some of the disappearances earlier, of students. Those were caused by... something attacking us. Not sure what." I see... So you're the missing link between two problems that the police can't figure out. * Kyon shrugs disinterestedly. "Could look at it that way." Why don't you go to them, then? * Kyon snorts. "Yeah. 'I have great mystical powers. Others of my kind do, too. Protect us.' Play real well." And they'd get their memories erased. Just like you. Hmm... That's very true. So you take matters into your own hands. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "That or get killed. Not much of a choice." Is it? I don't see how it was your responsibility to bring down Ayako Kunoichi. One, she was connected to the drugs. Two, doing it helped cement an alliance. A good, useful one." I see. So, are you dating Saki Morikawa? I'd always thought she was unapproachable, but I could see why a relationship with you might be possible. * Kyon barks out a laugh. "Her? I'm dating your boss here." He looks around the room again. "Where is she, anyway?" I'm not entirely sure. She said she had some errands to run before she went to visit your friend in the hospital -- something else I'd like to know about. * Kyon nods quickly, stuffs a hand in his pocket, and pulls out his cel phone. He flips it open, and hits Chikako's cel number. "Just a sec, and I'll tell you." [No answer.] * Kyon pulls the phone away from his ear, looks at it irritatedly, and tags in a quick C-mail to Chikako's number. "So. The hospital?" * Arisu nods. "What could cause a person to look like that?" * Kyon looks at Arisu warily. "You go pay her a visit?" Or do you just know she's there? I was there. Surely you haven't forgotten that that's where I met you, in the parking lot? You'd offered me a ride, but I opted to take the subway. That's when my memory was erased... * Arisu babbles. * Kyon nods quickly, and waves a hand at her. "Yeah. She's there because of some trouble with impostors. Mentioned that before, right?" * Arisu nods. "So there's more than one imposter. * Kyon smirks. "Got more than we need." I see. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "The biker girl had one, too. Saki." Hmm... I wouldn't think someone like her would need one. * Kyon barks out a laugh. "No one needs one." What I mean is, why have an imposter of someone everyone is afraid of anyhow? * Kyon rolls his shoulders, and presses himself up in the chair. "Because no matter how bad someone is, you can make them worse." Hmmm... I guess you could. Her, the old horoscope columnist, the hockey team's goalie, even me... a lot of them around. I could imagine. It's no wonder the police have no idea what's going on. * Kyon nods, and smirks. "Think Chikako's the only one who keeps everything straight." Mmmm, but she's never told me. I'll have to ask her about it. * Kyon nods quickly. "Have me around when she does." Why? Could fill in blanks. That's fair. * Kyon smirks a bit harder. "Besides. Be good to know exactly what she does." * Arisu tilts her head, then shrugs. "I suppose that's true." * Kyon smoothly gets to his feet. "Anything else?" * Arisu stands as well. "Nothing for now, although I'm quite certain I will have more questions in the future." * Kyon nods quickly. "Right." He shoulders his bag, and looks down at her again. "Remember. No names." Of course. [End in here.]
