[Day: Tuesday, March 30th. Time: 4:30 p.m.] [Weather: Chilly, Cloudy, Chance of rain later on.] [Kyon has just let Kaede off at Shunyo High and is now looking for a place to park his bike; doesn't seem like there's many spots open for it.] [Session Start!] * Kyon drives slowly around the block, looking for a parking lot or some other open space. [Kyon finds a space that's just barely big enough.] * Kyon maneuvers into it skillfully, and turns off the bike. He steps off, and stows his helmet on the back of it. [Kyon parks his bike! As he removes his helmet, he notices someone staring at him from across the street. Someone who looks just like him.] * Kyon cocks his head, and waves tersely to the man across the street. [He waves back.] (How big is this street? If I yelled across, would he hear?) ( Two lanes ) * Kyon waits for a couple seconds, weighing the situation, then calls across, "Need something?" "Saw you were in the neighborhood. Thought we'd have a chat." * Kyon glances off towards the school, then back across the street. "Busy now. It important?" "That depends on whether or not you consider the Sword important." * Kyon looks coolly across the street, and nods quickly. "Right, then." He scans the street for a coffee shop or other likely looking conversation place. [There's a small convenient cafe nearby.] * Kyon gestures curtly towards the cafe, and stalks his way over. [He stalks his way over, too.] (That's so amusing.) * Kyon stops by the counter long enough to order a plain coffee before going and taking a seat near the window. He doesn't really look to see if his counterpart is following along. [He does, in fact. He orders a dark coffee, then sits down opposite.] * Kyon leans back in his seat. "So. Come to share notes?" He smirks a bit. "Like old times." "You didn't think I'd tell you anything for free, did you?" * Kyon nods quickly, and turns up the smirk. "Sure. So I'll pay for your coffee." "That's rather generous of you." We do what we can for each other. He nods. "In that case, I've heard you have the cup now." * Kyon nods quickly. "Yeah. Wasn't easy getting it from some of the previous holders, but we've got it now." "Then we've each got one." Yeah. A tie for now, there. [He nods.] "But seeing as how nobody can get to the Pentacle, that only leave the Sword, doesn't it?" * Kyon curls his hands around his coffee cup. "Wouldn't say nobody. Least, I knew the guy who had it. Still, Sword is probably easier to find." "Yeah... Do you know what it does?" * Kyon shrugs quickly and smirks again. "A Sword? Cuts things, right?" "Maybe normally... Anyhow, forget all that. I know where it is. I can tell you." * Kyon leans forward towards him, almost conspiratorially. "Not that I mind, but I recall you saying you didn't want to work with me. Change your mind?" "Kind of." Could just go with "yes." Be easier. "But it wouldn't be true, either." "Here's the deal: We want the Pentacle. You get that for us, we'll tell you where the Sword is." * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "If we had the Pentacle, why would we give it up for just information about where the Sword is? Why not just keep it?" "What would you do with it?" Last I saw, stockpiling resources was good strategy. [He shrugs. "If you want to look at it that way, I guess we can go get the sword ourselves."] * Kyon turns the cup of coffee in his hands, and leans back. "If you can just go get it, why are you only offering me the info as trade, and not the item itself?" "It's rather out of the way." Happens that the Pentacle isn't just next door, either. [He shrugs. "The Sword isn't going anywhere for now. And you've got a better chance at getting the Pentacle than I do, I must admit." ] * Kyon sips the coffee carefully. "Right. So why would you rather have the Pentacle?" "It's more useful to us." And if you agreed to work with me, could be much more inclined to help you find things you find useful. "Well, we'll see about that. But for now, this will do." * Kyon looks down at the coffee. "Can't make anything up without a chance, you know." "Can't make this up at all." * Kyon glances up appraisingly, and shrugs quickly. "Still not convinced why I should agree to this." "Simple." "You get the Sword, and we get the Pentacle. Or, you get nothing, and we get the Sword." * Kyon shakes his head. "Sounds more like, we get the Pentacle and you get the Sword, or you get the Pentacle and we get the Sword. If you didn't think we could get the Pentacle, you wouldn't be asking." "Fair enough." * Kyon smirks. "So you should be telling me why I should prefer the Sword, Sou- kun." "Somehow, I just think you'll have more use for it than I." * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "Not good enough. Vague suggestions aren't going to do the trick here." "Like I said, what would you do with the Pentacle?" * Kyon takes a swallow of coffee. "Have to see once I have it." "We'll see what happens, then." * Kyon shrugs quickly. "If that's all you have to tell me, then yeah, we will." [He nods and gets up. "Well, then I'll get back to you on that later."] * Kyon nods tersely, and pushes himself up as well. He picks up his coffee. "Right. Bargain more when you have something." "Maybe, maybe... Well, time to go. Ciao." He heads off. * Kyon watches him leave, then knocks back the rest of the coffee and sets the cup back on the table. "Time to get to looking." [End!]
