[Katie chases after Ken!] * Katie follows him down, glancing for anyone else around. "Ken?" * Ken turns around. "Now what do you want? I'm kind of busy. Trying to go home fast, you know." * Katie sighs. She looks a little nervous now. "Stop that." Stop what? Pretending you hate me. Just for a little bit. It's fun sometimes, but... * Katie trails off, then shuts her mouth. What are you talking about? * Katie looks almost like she wants to cry, but she doesn't quite make it, hovering at that point right before. "You saved my life. I don't remember if I thanked you or not." * Ken blinks. "Well...um... It's not like you coulda saved yourself or something." No, but- * Katie takes a breath. It shakes a little. "If I- I mean, if... one more day. I would have died." Um... well, you didn't. So there. * Katie smiles weakly. "Yeah. You showed me." She looks up, checking his eyes. "Do you- I mean..." Huh? Do you want to do anything? As thanks, I guess. Since you're not always a *total* ass. What do you mean, do I want to do anything? Like Bird-watching? No thanks, I'd rather sleep in my bed than in a tree. I don't know. What do you do besides play soccer and insult people? I dunno. Watch TV, do what the other guys are doing... Stuff. Stuff. Right. * Katie takes a step towards Ken. "You mean you just do what 'the other guys' are doing?" Well, sometimes. What, do you plan a scheduel for each activity you do during the day, or something? No, I was just wondering. Though lately, I... haven't been able to do much by myself, really. Why? Can't get a date? * Katie winces, looking away. "There aren't many people I trust that much anymore." * Ken blinks at that, then waits a bit, and says, "You know, if someone locked me in a closet like that, I'd round up my buddies and beat the crap out of him." I don't know where she is. And she- * Katie is silent, then, "She looks like me. Just like me." So? That'd make me want to kick the crap out of him that much more. * Katie winces. "I do, but I don't know where to start, there's so much- so- Arisu got beaten up today, and we think we know who did it, but it's not-" * Katie looks up at Ken and says, forcefully, "She tried to *kill* me. I don't know why!" She pretended to be me. She could be anywhere. * Ken ... looks like he refrains from making a comment. He must not be that stupid. * Katie keeps going, and she's actually crying now, "I just don't know what to do. She could- she pretended to be- she could target my friends, and... I'm not a fighter. I don't know. She could be anywhere. If she's smart, she could be anywhere." * Katie tangles her fingers in her hair. "I'm crazy. You must think I'm crazy. You don't know." Well, then stop beign crazy. * Katie sobs, looking down, and mumbles something rather incomprehensible. And stop crying! Jeez, you're taking out all the fun of teasing you. * Katie tries to say something, fails, and just goes with a very weak, "I'm sorry." Uhh... Yeah. Well, fine. We can go see a movie or something. * Katie laughs. It, too, comes out very weak. "A pity date, huh." Well, yeah. I mean, if anyone ever deserved one, it'd be you. All you know how to do is bird-watch and carve wood. How lame is that? Besides, it's not like you're the first girl I've ever gone out with. * Katie tries to calm down. "I've been to a movie recently. Something about a motorcycle and the end of the world." I didn't. So? You're the one who decided I don't do anything but watch birds and carve. We can go see Killing Y.O.U. Now that looks like an awesome movie. * Katie rubs at her eyes. "Besides, I- huh?" She pauses. "Nobody gets their throat cut, do they?" Don't think so. It's got all thes guns and explosions. It'll be great. * Katie thinks. Guns and explosions. Okay, not so bad. Good. So we'll do that this weekend. Yeah. * Katie looks briefly spooked, then nods. "Sure. Don't have a girlfriend right now?" You mean... um... Amiko? Whatever. I'm going to dump her anyhow. * Katie tilts her head. "Why?" * Ken shrugs. "I don't like her." Then why did you date her in the first place? 'Cause, she's head cheerleader, and kinda hot. Oh. * Katie gets a faint twinkle in her eye. "Then did you score?" Well... yeah. * Katie laughs. Really, a light feeling, true laugh. * Ken twitches. "What?" * Katie smiles. "Nothing. I just thought it was funny." S-so what? I can still get more dates than YOU, Andrews. Yeah. But do they mean anything? Yeah. They mean women are hot for me. * Katie rolls her eyes. "If you're going to think of it that way, maybe I shouldn't go out with you at all. You probably just want sex or something." Hey, you asked me, remember? And please. Like I'd ever want to sleep with you. * Katie snickers. "Right." * Ken nods. "Yeah." I'll just have to take comfort in that fact. Please. I could have any girl in the school if I wanted. * Katie eyes him. "Is that a fact?" Yeah. So count yourself lucky. * Katie smirks. "Maybe you should count yourself lucky. I've only dated one guy since coming to Japan, and he-" She stops herself. "Well." Taro? He's a prick. * Katie sighs. "He's scary, is what he is. I'm glad I haven't seen him since... you know." He's a loser. I could've told you that. You told me I'm a loser, don't forget. You'd think we'd be perfect for each other. Nah. Losers aren't meant for other losers. * Katie looks faintly amused. "I see." So, yeah. * Katie glances back. "I'll see you around, then. Phone number? We have to work out when and where we're meeting." She sounds almost like she's going to laugh. "I wouldn't want to get in the way of your guy time." * Ken rats off a phone number. "But don't call me for stupid stuff, like whether you should wear earrings or not." * Katie puts it in. "Please. My ears aren't even pierced." She glances up, then tells him her cell number. Or any of that stupid girl stuff. Whatever. What do you know about girl stuff? You just have sex with them. * Katie tucks her phone away and grins at Ken. "I'll see you later, then." Argh! That's not what I... ah, forget it. * Ken heads off. * Katie laughs and turns, heading up the stairs.
