[Day: Monday, April 4th. Time: 5:00 p.m.] [Weather: Sunny! Warm! That's all you need to know!] [You're all in the school chem lab. Except Kaede. He's not. He went with Soleil to the hospital to find out what happened to Fuyuko. Saki is there, however, bus she doesn't look like she'll be getting up anytime soon.] [Session Start!] * Haruko keeps healing Satoshi. She looks oddly at Taki for a moment. "Weren't you going to be with Kaede?" * Katie makes sure Saki's comfortable enough. * Haruko has her hand on Satoshi's side at the moment. * Taki starts to walk back twords Satoshi and Haruko, "...No?" * Satoshi stirs and groans slightly. * Haruko tilts her head. "So, he's going to be alone with Soliel if he runs into trouble?" She glances over to Katie. * Taki hurries back now, and sits next to him, "Satoshi?" ( Replace "runs into" with "causes") (Can't blame her for what she thinks. :P) (No, but it makes my head hurt.) (So don't look in there. :P) * Katie looks up to Haruko. "I asked him if he wanted me there," she says dully. "And he said no. So, that's okay." * Satoshi rubs his head and tries to sit up. "What hit me?" (It's too late. ;p) * Taki smiles a bit at Satoshi, "Kaede said it was a chair." * Haruko frowns but lets it go. "Well, good work back there Katie." * Satoshi sits up, unless Haruko's positioned in such a way that he can't. "A chair?" * Haruko doesn't keep him from sitting up. * Taki nods, "I don't know which card she is, but she's ... what's the wo...telekenitic." I thought I was... no, wait, that's telepathic. So she's Arcana. Why does this not surprise me? I'm betting the Sun. That was the card missing from the deck. * Katie sighs. "Yeah. And good work with what?" Soleil. Uhm... keeping both her and me from doing something stupid? Ah, what about the circlet pieces, that's whywecamedownhere. * Katie blinks. "Oh." * Satoshi stands up. "I get the impression I missed a lot. Where's Kaede?" Fuyuko's missing. He and Soleil are checking it out. * Taki nods and keeps sitting on the floor. So she's at least listening? * Haruko keeps healing Satoshi. "Once we get this analyzed, we should really get the police chemical analysis of the drugs as well. Might be similar or revealing. * Haruko nods. "Katie managed that." * Taki grins and nods. * Satoshi looks over at Katie. "Well, I'm glad she didn't keep throwing chairs." * Katie nods. "Yeah. I just told her the truth." * Haruko smiles. "That's what I was trying. You did it better." * Katie bites her lip briefly. Okay. Are we going to look at that circle thing? Yeah, we were going to before Soleil showed up. * Haruko gestures to Satoshi, who she's still healing. "All you for the moment." I... haven't taken chem yet... not that'd help much. Kaede's the one who knew the most about it, I think. I barely passed Chem. ^^; Sorry. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kaede (2d6-2) and gets 6. * Haruko shakes her head. "None of us really know it. He didn't mention any real training." Well, he could at least look things up on his computer. Katie? Did you take chemistry yet? (Nah, he just succeeds on a 10 or below. No real training at all.) (Pffft. ;p) * Katie nods. "I'm taking it this year. I have a text in my locker; could get it real quick." (He didn't mention it. :P) (*snickers) Yeah, I think that'd help a lot. (That's because it's not his specialty! ^_^) (And that'd be one level of training and a specialty.) * Katie nods. "Be right back." And she hurries out the door. (No, it's two levels of training but no specialty. Physics is his specialty) * Satoshi looks at Haruko. "Thanks, Haruko. Sorry you had to do that." (Really? Mine too. >.>) I wasn't expecting a chair. * Taki starts to stand up, and then decides against it, "Sorry... I think she threw it because I left to get Katie." I'm happy to, sorry you had to take the hit. I guess it's revenge for using a table. * Haruko shrugs and smiles slightly. "Might be. Oh, while we're waiting, what do you guys think of 'crows' as a gang name?" * Satoshi blinks. "Huh?" * Taki thinks about that for a moment,"...How about... something that doesn't pick at roadkill?" We need a name. I'm suggesting 'crows' unless anyone has any better ideas. Bearers of bad news." * Haruko looks to Taki. "Have a better idea?" Bearers of bad news? Is that what you really think we are? * Taki shakes her head, "Just that the Jackals can keep that to them selves." * Haruko looks down. "It's true, it isn't falsely pretentious, but still has some edge." * Satoshi shkes his head. "You can call yourself whatever you want, Haruko, but I'm not in." (shakes) Want a different name? * Katie comes walking back in, now with a +1 Chemistry Textbook. "Face it, Satoshi. We're a gang." She plunks it on a lab table. I don't want any name at all. Why not? I don't want to be a gang. (Nic's saying we're the Original Angstas.) * Satoshi looks surprised for a second when Katie walks in and picks up the conversation, then remembers. (Ha!) (Ha. I like it. ;p) * Haruko shrugs. "What is it that we are then? That we've had to be? That we're going to have to keep being to protect the people we care about." (Why doesn't he watch?) (Haruko's not agnsty. :P) * Taki scoots back a bit and leans on a wall, "We're us." I don't know, but... * Satoshi sighs. * Haruko snorts. "And us, we are a gang. We're lying to ourselves if we pretend otherwise. We can't afford that." * Katie starts flipping through her text, then sets her satchel down, looks through that, and gets her spiral with notes. * Haruko is still healing Satoshi while she's arguing. * Satoshi puts a hand on Haruko's hand. "I'm fine. You can stop now." (Satoshi/Haruko OTP!) ( Boring! (;_;) (theirloveissoheadhurting) * Haruko nods and let's her hand down. She slowly stands up, still wounded enough not to be moving fast. * Satoshi walks over to Katie. "Need any help?" * Haruko walks over to Katie as well. She looks to Satoshi. "Not that easy. Are you going to face it, or are you going to argue that we're something else?" * Haruko glances to Taki after that with a similar expression. Leave me alone, Haruko. Sure, just look at me and tell me I'm wrong. * Taki looks up at Haruko, "Need a name... and some orginization to be a gang... we're just a group of friends right now." No, we need a name and organization to be a good gang. Right now, we're an mostly ineffective one. No, you think you're right. That's the problem. * Katie keeps looking through her notes. "Yeah... Haruko, can you get me that circlet?" She starts checking cabinets for equipment. * Taki blinks at Satoshi. * Haruko snickers, fairly darkly as she goes to get it. "Yes. I do. We have people we want to defend, that takes being willing to fight. That's not going to change. And if we get respect, we can do it less." [There's all sorts of fun chemistry stuff in the cabinets, like microscopes, slides, beakers, flasks, swirly things, and more weird stuff Katie can't identify.] * Haruko hands the headband to Katie. And calling ourselves a gang is going to help that? How? * Katie takes it. She acquires one headband! ['Cept it's broke.] * Katie arranges equipment in a fairly orderly fashion, looks the headband over, and gets to work. (* Katie gets 2 headband fragment(s)!) Because it acknowledges reality. Because it'll give us a chance to better deal with the nasty but not crazy. Because back there we got beat, only some magical swords saved the day, not once, but twice. ...Magical Swords? Claymores. * Katie keeps working. They broke the headband, they got the gun away from my head. * Taki blinks, "The guy from when I... He was there?" I'm willing to be on a team. Not a gang. Maybe it makes you feel better, but it doesn't reassure me at all. * Haruko looks to Taki. "From when?" * Taki blushes and looks down, "I... met the fake Katie... before she locked the real one up." * Haruko nods. * Katie tenses a little. She asked me to meet her at the Tower Reversed... we talked for a bit and then Ryo showed up and tried to force us to join him... The fake attacked him... and this guy in a green tuxedo and mask with a bow and a quiver full of claymores showed up and attacked to... we.. the fake and I escaped into the elevator. And Ryo was there the other night... I wonder if the sword guy has a grudge against him. * Haruko looks rather surprised at that. "Odd, it would seem that way." * Satoshi notes that Haruko's stopped arguing with him for the time being, which is fine by him. I guess so. * Haruko then looks back to Satoshi. "Teams play sports and games, they do projects together at work. Which is why calling us a team lets you avoid what you don't want to admit." (Jumped the gun Satoshi. :P) (Curses.) Drop it, okay? If you're wanting to get me to agree with you by poking at me, it's not going to work. * Katie blinks at the headband, then feels up at her forehead. So... uhm Haruko? Speaking of gangs and things maybeyoushouldkindaheal Saki? * Haruko nods. "Your choice. I think we can no longer afford pleasant sounding lies, because next time, some random enemy of our enemies may not be there to save us. I hope to the Kami I'm wrong." * Katie reaches under her hair. She frowns. * Haruko goes to find a seat. "I've done all I can for her today." Oh. * Katie peers back at the headband, then puts part under a microscope and looks. * Satoshi looks over at Katie. He's frowning. * Haruko checks if her phone has any messages. After that she gets a clipboard out of her bag and looks it over. [Haruko has one message!] 2d6+1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6+1) and gets 8. (DR1) * Taki stays seated on the ground watching Katie and Satoshi. 2d6+1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6+1) and gets 11. (And 2) 2d6+1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6+1) and gets 10. (Wow.) * Haruko doesn't get out the clipboard then. She calls up her message. Are you sure there's some of the chemical left, Haruko? [The Hamsterdance music plays from Haruko's phone! God, is that annoying.] * Katie flinches. "And turn that thing off." She adjusts the microscope. * Haruko scowls and tries to listen if there's something in the background. "No, but considering it stopped working when it broke contact with you, it'd be nonsensical if there's none left." Yeah, I was thinking that, only I'm not finding any of it. Maybe if we broke it open... * Katie pulls out the circlet and looks for a way to open it. Maybe to refill it. * Haruko nods. "I'd say do it, the delivery system is trivial." Is there anything in here we could do that with? * Haruko keeps trying to listen if there's anything else aside from annoying music. (Assuming the hamsterdance music is the message, cause no way she'd set that as a phone tune. ) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6) and gets 9. * Satoshi watches Katie and tries to ignore the annoying music. Okay, if this thing's supposed to be reusable... and I think it should be, 'cause something this small has to be hard to make, there's got to be something that'd let you open the- Haruko, can you do something about your phone? (Is there any actual message Brett?) Please? [That's the message.] * Haruko hangs up. She checks if the call is from Sumire. 2d6-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-4) and gets 1. [It's from "J1Nz".] (Oh dear God, no. ;p) (C|-|1C|<1N) (*cracks up*) (....dear god no) * Haruko saves the phone number for future reference. "It's from jay one, en zee. Don't know what that's about." * Haruko goes to her clipboard. Jones? * Katie manages to get the syringes off, then frowns. "It doesn't look like there's a way to refill this thing, really. Weird." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-1) and gets 7. Must be one use, maybe it was created with powers. Well, break it I guess, just be sure to put it a container first so that no liquid can escape." (-") * Taki muses, "... Maybe it's like a pen you have to keep dipping?" That doesn't make much sense, though. How could you dip a circlet? Unless it comes apart somehow, and it doesn't look like this one does. * Katie blinks. "Of course. Syringes." You refill them by pressure, right? Yeah. Maybe? I... guess? So, you just put the circlet in the chemical and have the syringes pull... um, up. Basically. So... how do we get it back out? (so is there a puller/pusher in the back of the syringes?) Maybe. I don't see how you'd make it do that, but I'm not an expert. ( Not that you can see. ) (Of course there's a pusher backing the syringes. Chariot.) (*snerk*) (Ha!) * Haruko shakes her head. "You need to be able to pull back something behind the syringe. Change the pressure. Maybe the drug is inserted via a smaller syringe though. Could work. Or dip and have a lot of liquid." * Haruko gives a nod to Taki when she says the last bit. * Katie peers, then rubs her finger on the inside and rubs that against her thumb. "Yeah, there's none left. I think it breaks itself down after circulation." She flips through her text. What does that mean? * Katie hears that, and she's pretty engrossed in what she's doing. She pulls out a pencil and starts making notes in her spiral. "" Japanese please Katie. * Haruko works over her clipboard while she says that. She marks an item off. ...Or at least simpler english, I only caught the end of that. She said it would have to stay in a reaction. Huh? Oh. Um... thanks, Satoshi. Maybe a self-contained reaction, but it couldn't be indefinite, or there'd still be some left. (Satoshi knows chemistry-speak in English...that's awesome.) * Haruko frowns. "I don't remember much chemisty, but there should still be traces of something.. well, might just be magic anyways." Haruko sighs. "We had hope there for a minute." ...So... it used all of itself up after it broke and now it's too late? I don't think it's just magic. (He's just translating. ^_~) That's way too easy. I think it's manmade, not Arcanamade, if that makes sense. 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-1) and gets 11, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "Some things just aren't meant to be." (... The hell.) (dicy hates you... and I'd offer you all my DRs if Brett would let me ;_;) So it turned into a gas? There should at least be a biproduct left if it stayed liquid or solid. I mean, a microscopic biproduct to be sure, but something. * Katie eyes the circlet and rubs under her hair again. "" She peers at the circlet again. What's wrong? So... what would you need to ma... What's wrong Katie? * Haruko looks to Katie, curious. Uh, can someone check this for me? The syringes and what exactly they do when active. * Haruko comes over to check and examines them. * Taki pushes herself to her feet, "How?" * Satoshi walks over. Wow, lots of people volunteering. * Katie holds it out. She bites her lip. * Haruko takes it. * Haruko looks closely once again at the equipment. 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6) and gets 5. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6-3) and gets 3. * Taki watches Haruko for a moment, glances at Katie and then picks up a chair and carries it over to Katie, "Here." * Haruko looks at Katie. "It's just a liquid holder capable of breaking the skin, flows out naturally once it's in contact with blood." * Katie lets out a sigh of relief. "So it's not- okay. How fast is the release?" * Haruko keeps examining it, she makes a couple calculations on her clipboard while she's at it. (Haruko discovers that while the Circlet does poorly in short answer essays it does do surprisingly well in multiple choice sections) 2d6+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6+2) and gets 4, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I wish I got to hand out more of these, really." (o_o) (o_o) (Haruko turns out to be better at chemistry than one would think.) (I'll say.) (well, anyone but her. o_o) (She didn't think she'd be great at it. :P) (Who knew?) * Haruko sighs. "Yeah, guess it could all be gone, or at least reduced to unhelpful helpful levels. And I think ::she checks something in the book:: that it should be a continous long last reaction, weeks if necessary." She closes the book again and then her eyes. "We were so close to actually having an edge." * Haruko holds the band loosely in one hand, anyone who wants it can take it. * Taki looks at Katie, "But you said it stopped the moment it broke." * Katie takes it back and looks it over. "Well, there's a few... um, compounds that could work. Maybe exposure to air sped the process even more. Without the pressure, it just released itself." * Katie looks up and nods to Taki. * Haruko nods and opens her eyes. "Guess so. Well, who wants to call Kaede? Let's meet up, we're wasting time here." So it would have to be a constant release. * Taki starts digging for her phone, "...So it leaked out into whatever Haruko was carrying it in." * Haruko shakes her head. "There'd still be traces, it's just part of the reaction." * Taki finds it and speeddials Kaede, "I had to hope." * Satoshi nods. * Haruko gives a slight weak smile to Taki but then loses it. She looks over to Katie. "So why manmade? Even though it was the reaction I'd still think it might well be Arcana only." * Katie goes back to messing with her text and notes, trying to come up with possibilities as to what it could be. * Taki waits for him to pick up or an answering machine. * Haruko writes on her clipboard. "And we probably should get those records from the police. I'm mostly thinking Arcana because I think the drugs can only be produced with Arcana help. It'd be a good way to test the hypothesis." Arcana? Oh. Yeah, probably made by them. I still don't think magic is really involved. Some Arcana must have figured out what it is, in our brains, that lets us tap it. And how to block and change it, like with Kyoko or me. * Taki speaks into the phone, "Hi Kaede, it's Taki. There doesn't seem to be anything left in the circlet... but we know how it worked... Any luck over there?" * Taki nods, "Sorry, call back when you find out where he's going and who it is?" ...Since you arn't going to tell me... good luck, and call if you need help. * Taki hangs up. What happened? * Katie keeps scribbling. * Haruko stares at her clipboard for a moment, and jots a few notes. * Taki puts her phone away, "They're following somebody, but won't tell me who." * Haruko rolls her eyes. Oh. Well, I guess he's got a good reason for it... hopefully. No, he doesn't. He should trust us not to do something stupid because we know who it is. * Katie shakes her head. * Haruko sighs. "But, he'll call us when it matters, so that's okay I guess." * Taki sits down in the chair she dragged over, "I hope so." * Haruko gives a weak smile. "Well, we can have some faith in him even if he won't in us." Maybe I'll talk to him about it. * Taki gives Katie a small grin, "Just... not right now." Yeah. * Katie taps the pencil to her chin, then chuckles, just a little, and flips through her textbook. * Haruko nods. "He's getting better at least. Anyways, however this thing works, I think it gets cut off when the wound sight is exposed to air. Could be any open wound, but given the shape you were in Katie, I'd guess then it would have cut off long before." Maybe... but if it's injected directly to the brain, then would the air matter so much in that case? That ... doesn't make any sense... Maybe it's just a magic claymore t...direct.. * Taki boggles and checks how long the needles are. * Satoshi sits down, as he's been standing the whole time, and pulls a notebook out of his bag. He's trying to follow along, but he has a slightly glazed look on his face. * Haruko hmmms. "Did it actually make it through your skull? I don't know. Well... * Katie rubs at her head. "There are scabs. So it broke skin, definitely." * Satoshi winces. * Haruko nods. "May I see?" * Taki looks at Haruko, "Is there ... yeah." You don't actually feel anything if something touches your brain. And sure. * Katie sits down, then turns away from Haruko. * Taki watches Haruko and Katie. * Haruko walks up and picks out fleas... err.. daintly finds the point of contact. * Haruko looks sheepish "I did to good of a job. No wound left." Really? * Haruko nods. * Katie furrows her brow. "They were there not too long ago." Wasn't thinking about it at the time. * Taki brightens for a moment and then looks confused. ... Um, okay. Well, there are scabs. That means *something* got through. * Katie shrugs. "At the points of entry. I'm used to getting my head smacked around at this point, so there's probably cuts all over my head." * Haruko nods. "We'll see once we have more research. Maybe we should get a blood sample. If nothing else, we can rule out reactions that leave traces." * Katie sighs. Haruko, if it were blood, wouldn't they inject it into a vein or something? * Taki shivers. * Haruko looks back. "Blood runs through the brain. It may not be blood based, but that doesn't mean the reactions wouldn't leave traces. And might be they just want maximum effect, don't make it run through the whole body before getting to the target." * Katie sighs. "Okay, fine. We can get a blood sample. I'm not afraid of needles." * Haruko nods. She tries to find if there's equipment for storing a blood sample. "So, why didn't you toss that jerk off the roof? Did I misinterpret what you said when I asked about waking him up?" * Taki blinks and looks at Katie. * Katie thinks, then reaches back to grab her Chemistry text. * Katie starts flipping through it, looking for the part on biochem. "I didn't because I didn't want to kill him." I think that's a good reason. (Even if we all wanted to!) I can understand that, then why did you say you were willing to in the first place? * Taki nods at Katie's response. * Katie shrugs. "I meant it. If he tried to hurt one of us, I would have pushed him off." * Satoshi realizes that this probably does not improve their chances of being not a gang. ;p ... You're right, Haruko. You can tell this stuff from blood. (Go Satoshi. :P) I wish there was some way to make him listen to people when they say no. * Haruko grins. "I am? Oh. Well, right then. I'll be sure to clarify next time. It was pretty humiliating, but I'd rather risk humiliation than risk killing someone unnecessarily." * Haruko pauses in her search, basking in the glory of being right. * Katie sighs. "I still don't think we'll find anything, though. Reaction's probably too fast." * Haruko nods as she retrieves a vial and stopper. "Well, let's be ready to test in the future. What's the book say about the likelyhood? I don't want to bleed you unnecessarily." * Katie eyes Haruko. "Ah... it doesn't. It talks about measuring for serotonin and stuff." I'm not sure what chemical we're looking for. We'll need more than what we've got here. * Katie rubs at her head. "Like access to a hospital." * Taki thinks, "Uhm... about how long do you think it would take?" * Haruko grins. "Well. Maybe just a little after the roof. But not much." She then nods. "Well, let's get the sample I guess. And more important be ready next time. If we can figure out the procedures, we can always sneak in and use the equipment." * Satoshi takes notes. He doesn't quite understand it all, but he can look it up when he gets home. Do you even have a clean needle, Haruko? * Haruko shakes her head. "I could go buy something for diabetese. Shouldn't be too much." * Katie eyes Haruko some more. "Then we may as well do that, because I'm not slashing my wrists." * Taki winces, "That... would no." * Haruko smirks slightly. "Which one of us has the supernatural healing abilities? I'm not going to cause an infection. Well, lets get to a store." Yeah. Get a needle, get some alcohol and swabs. I'll take my own sample, and *then* you can heal me. Don't you have alcohol and swabs already in your kit? A little, yeah. I'm running out at this rate. Okay, anything else you need to restock while I'm at it? * Katie thinks. Gauze, band aids, tape. * Haruko nods and walks off. "There's a store just by the store. Come with me or call me if you need me." * Haruko jots down each thing she needs to pick up on her clipboard. * Taki stands up, "... I think everybody should go... less time to get everybody together if Kaede calls." * Katie sighs and starts cleaning up the mess. * Haruko leaves the headband with Katie. "Probably best if you keep track of this." She then helps with the clean up a bit. * Satoshi puts his notebook away and helps clean up. [Session End!]
