<Brett> [Day: Friday, April 22nd.  Time: 5:15 p.m.]
<Brett> [Weather: Getting on towards dusk.  It's a little cold.]
<Brett> [You're right outside the drug lord's secret headquarters.  How
exciting! It's very dark inside.  Probably because there's no lights on.  You
can't make out much in there with the low light from the sun.]
<Brett> [Exciting, eh? Session Start]
* Satoshi keeps out his nice modded hockey stick and prepares to follow Kyon in.
* Haruko readies her tire iron and also prepares to follow.
* Taki clenches her fist and waits for everything to start go wrong.
* Kyon looks sidewise down at Kaede. "You ready to take out the electricity?"
* Kaede cracks his knuckles. "Yes. You want it now or time to get into position
first?"
* Katie wraps her coat around herself more tightly and gently touches the hilt
of the Sword. She glances around.
* Kyon looks towards the door. "We go in towards the stairs. When we're at the
top, go for the lights."
* Kaede gives a short nod.
* Kyon nods quickly and quietly opens the door, loosening his rapier in its
sheath with his other hand.
<Brett> [The door... turns out to be locked. Doh.]
* Kyon rolls his eyes, and looks over at Haruko. "You do it."
* Haruko gets out her picks and gets to work.
<Haruko> 2d6-2
* Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6-2) and gets 10, a CRITICAL
FAILURE!!! "Don't blame me. Blame yourself, or God."
* Taki glances nervously at Haruko, up to Satoshi, and then back at Katie.

<Haruko> (Miss.  By two if mind, three if body.)
<Kaede> (Four if by sea.)
<Brett> [Haruko fiddles with the lock, to no avail.]
<Katie> (The British are coming!)
<Taki> (Winston? Where?)
* Kyon blows out a breath, and then bends down to examine the lock.
* Katie waits, still glancing over when she hears a noise. And she hears lots of
noises.
* Haruko scowls and steps back. She speaks quietly. "Not the kind of lock I'm
used to."
<Brett> [The lock is a pretty simple lock-and-key type, built just below the
missing door knob.]
<Katie> Can you try again?
* Taki looks back at Haruko and the lock.
* Kyon straightens and shakes his head irritably. "Can't just melt the lock.
Could blow the door, but then no more surprise."
<Katie> Just try again, Haruko.
<Haruko> 2d6-2
* Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6-2) and gets a natural 6 for a result
of 4.
<Brett> [It opens!  But it's still dark in there.]
* Haruko nods and tries again. She mutters to herself "Just think of it as a
very large van." She smiles as the door opens.
* Haruko then puts away her picks.
* Kyon nods curtly, and edges cautiously inside. He holds up a hand, and closes
his eyes in the dark for a moment before a small ball of soft light appears over
it. He keeps it dim just so he can get a look around.
* Haruko smiles as she realizes that Kyon's light source is not fire intensive.
* Katie walks over and peeks in, taking in the entrance.
* Taki hangs back with Satoshi, and watches Katie walk with apprehension.
<Brett> [The inside looks like a ruined art studio. Unfinished sculptures (many
of them broken) and paintings (vandalized) littler the room.  Along with bits
and pieces of old furniture.]
* Satoshi keeps an eye on Taki. He also glances up every so often to the roof to
make sure they aren't spotted.
<Brett> ( People going in gimme stealth (silent movement) rolls! )
<Katie> 2d6-4
* Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-4) and gets a natural 7 for a result
of 3.
<Katie> (It always amuses me that I have that.  Make.)
<Kyon> 2d6

<Kyon> (That's not stealthy, no.)
<Katie> 2d6-8

<Haruko> (She's stealthy.  Satoshi is with the rear guard though.)
<Brett> [Unbeknownst to Kyon, there's some broken pottery or something under a
cloth on the floor that he steps on, and you can hear a muffled noise as it
cracks under his step.]
* Taki winces, not because she's got super hearing like Katie, but it's not a
good thing.
* Katie glances at Kyon and puts her finger to her lips, then looks around. She
reaches into her satchel and pulls out a pair of hearing aids, putting them in
her ears and adjusting them.
* Katie whispers,
<Katie> "Saki's not completely out; she doesn't sound good, at least."
<Katie> And... others.
* Kyon closes his eyes and clenches one of his fists, and whispers back, "Anyone
hear that?"
* Katie frowns. "No," she says softly, "They're just talking."
* Haruko follows in shortly thereafter. She makes note of Kyon's mistake and
avoids the pottery.
* Taki whispers, "About?"
<Brett> ( Hang on, I overlooked something )
* Katie shakes her head at Taki. "Too much groaning." She sneaks farther in,
looking for the stairs down as she prepares to draw the Sword, because there's
no way she won't have to.
* Taki nods.
* Haruko looks around to make note of the plumbing.
* Satoshi just stands ready for when he's needed.
<Brett> [No pipes are visible on the first floor.]
* Haruko looks for drains.
<Brett> [Haruko can't see any in the low lighting.]
<Katie> (Basement's bound to have some, in any case; that's what basements are
for, among other things.)
<Taki> (No sprinkler system? What kind of a warehouse is this?)
<Haruko> (Taki: Death trap :P)
<Taki> (;_;)
<Kaede> (Notes that if it DID have a sprinkler system, it might have already
have been set off by Kyon anyhow. :P
<Katie> (Nah, he's not giving off enough smoke.)
<Haruko> (It's just a ball of light.  Hence Haruko still being pretty calm.)
<Kaede> (Because it's on the water?)
<Katie> (I just made that joke earlier today.)
<Katie> (Brett, stairs up, stairs down, where is what?)
<Kaede> (Further proof that we are other selves.)
<Haruko> (I object.  Kyon is not some stupid with a flare gun. :P)
<Brett> [There are stairs up!  And a little further in, there appears to be a
closed door that could lead to stairs that go down.]
<Kaede> (That's just because you want to brown-nose and be number two in
command.)
<Haruko> (<Haruko> Damn straight!  I mean, no.)
* Satoshi spins his hockey stick in his hands.
* Kyon whispers back. "How many others? In there?"
* Katie points out each one. "Down?" she whispers. "Don't know. It's loud,
though."
* Kyon scowls. "Only heard about 2 plus the biker girl. Sounds like lots of
people, or just noise?" he whispers.
* Katie hisses, "People, unless Saki got more than one voice."
* Haruko frowns.
<Brett> ( It could happen! )
* Satoshi whispers to Taki and Kaede as they might not be able to hear the
conversation. "Apparently there's more than two people downstairs. Not counting
Saki."
* Taki looks even more worried. "Should I.. .should more of us go down?"
* Kyon jerks his head back towards the door, and whispers. "Pull out. Going to
get another check." He edges back out the door.
* Kyon waits long enough to make sure the light lasts for the others, though.
* Taki follows directions?
* Haruko follows orders.
* Katie edges out, then says quietly and quickly, "<We don't have a lot of time,
Kyon. I waited too long when I tried to kill Tenjirou, and now he's alive and
gone. I hope that doesn't happen again.>"
* Satoshi is no closer than you guys. But Haruko is passing stuff to him
telepathically.
* Kyon blows out a breath as he tugs out his cell phone to call Hiromi. "<Right.
But if we go in just to be overpowered, there's no point.>" He jabs the button
to call.
<Katie> <Of course not, but they don't sound like they're in the best shape
either, whoever they are.  I doubt they're on the Blacks' side.>
* Kaede nods to Satoshi. "Just let me know when they're ready."
* Satoshi nods in response.
* Kyon nods curtly at Katie, then speaks into the phone. "Me again. Can you do
one more check? Sounds like there are more people in there than you said."
* Kyon nods quickly. "Sure." He looks down over the group. "Checking."
* Katie shifts and waits.
* Kyon rocks back on his heels, and stares in the door.
* Haruko does not hum a jaunty tune. Now is not the time.
* Kyon smirks, and snaps the phone shut, shoving back into his pockets. "People
in machines. Don't seem to be working with them. Should be no problem. Might get
more backup."
* Haruko nods.
* Kyon gestures with his light hand towards the door. "Okay. Back in." He steps
in, watching for the pottery again, and going towards the steps.
<Brett> ( More stealth rolls! )
<Kyon> 2d6
* Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6) and gets a natural 7 for a result of

<Kyon> (Stealth is... body? Then no.)
<Haruko> 2d6

"I hate these guys. Give 'em one for me."
<Katie> (I'm so stealthy, I MAKE EVERYONE AROUND ME STEALTHY.)
<Haruko> (Haruko moves like the wind.  But not like Katie, who is quieter than
the wind.)
<Katie> (I am one with the wind.)
<Taki> (Katie is a ninja, she will assin you when you no expecting.)
<Brett> [While watching for glass, Kyon nearly bumps into a low hanging light
fixture, but Katie stops him.]
* Katie reaches out a hand and halts Kyon's progress, points up, and puts a
finger to her lips. She continues for the stairs down.
<Brett> [You get there! The door to the basement is closed.]
* Katie carefully checks its locked or unlocked status.
* Kyon winces a bit at Katie's touch, then looks up at the light, scowls, and
nods to her. He goes to the stairs, and then waits for Katie to check the lock.
<Brett> [The lock appears to be broken off.]
<Brett> ['Cause locking themselves down there would be dumb.]
<Kyon> (Well, if it's on the inside, why would it be unreasonable?)
<Haruko> (Don't make this harder for us. :P)
* Kyon raises an eyebrow questioningly at Katie, and mouths, "Unlocked?"
* Katie nods once and loosens the Sword.
* Kyon looks back at the front door and Kaede, and nods curtly at him.
* Satoshi passes on to Kaede that Kyon signaled him, just in case Kaede didn't
notice.
* Kaede goes to the random power source that they found earlier and puts his
hands to it, concentrating.
<Brett> [The "random power source" is a random powerline.  Unfortunately,
* Kaede whispers to Satoshi. "Overload or just dim it?"
<Kaede> Though I haven't really tried the former...
* Haruko whispers to Kyon. "Want it overloaded or dimmed?"
* Kyon considers briefly. "Dimmed to near-total dark. Might need the lights
later; if we overload, might not get them back," he whispers.
* Satoshi passes that on to Kaede.
<Kaede> 2d8-2
* Dicesuke throws the bones for Kaede (2d8-2) and gets a natural 8 for a result
of 6.
* Kaede concentrates on taking down the power then, saying quietly. "In that
case, I'm going to have to hold it. It'll go back up if I need to rush in after
them."
* Haruko passes that on.
<Brett> [Maybe the lights dim! You have no way of knowing.]
<Taki> (Except Katie.)
<Katie> (Well, I guess I could potentially hear something like that happen.
Anyhow.)
<Taki> (You can hear them go "WTF? Where'd the lights go? Oh shit the machines!)
<Kaede> (Even if you didn't, you might hear a "What the fuck?" from inside or
something.)
<Kaede> (GMTA Gryph.)
<Katie> 2d6-12
* Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-12) and gets a natural 4 for a result
of -8.
<Taki> (It comes from sitting next to your others self.)
* Haruko whispers. "He's done it, we should go."
* Katie says softly, "Now." She rips open the door even as she draws the Sword.
<Kaede> (Now that's just creepy.)
<Katie> (Rawr!)
* Taki stares at Katie.
<Katie> (I didn't rip it off its hinges here.  Geez.)
* Kyon nods quickly, and whispers harshly to Katie, "Right." He goes down,
making sure to get by the Sword, getting his own light down. He takes his sword
out with his other hand.
<Kaede> (Damn.  That would have been an awesome entrance.)
<Taki> (But only Chariot gets to make it)
<Kaede> (World War Katie.)
<Katie> (I know.  But I was drugged by sedatives, not steroids.)
* Haruko quickly looks in for any pipes.
<Brett> [Soooo... Session End! To be continued next week]
