[Day: Saturday, April 23rd. Time: Noonish] [Weather: Snowy] [You're all at the Tower Reversed, waiting to hear Shun's explanation on how to survive the coming apocalypse. Woo! Yeah!.] [Oh, um, session start.] ( Oops ) [Shun leans back and pulls out a cigarette. "So, you know what's going on, yeah?"] * Dicesuke has joined #arcana * WeightofTaki is now known as Taki * Kyon rocks back on his heels, and looks down towards Shun. "There's a prophecy. Says we're all doomed." He smirks. "Left out the hows and whens. Makes it hard for our religious acquaintances to plan well." ["And the whys, too, huh? Man... Well, we can't all know everything." He lights the cigarette. If you don't like cigarette smoke, too bad! The sprinklers don't come on.] * Satoshi arrives via elevator with Taki. [He takes a long drag on his cigarette. "Technically, I'm not obligated to tell you more than I promised..."] * Taki blinks at all of the people down here. * Katie rolls her eyes, but she waits. * Katie also turns to see Taki and Satoshi, doing the preliminary eye check. * Kyon shakes his head bemusedly. "See how far that takes us, and then we can talk more." * Satoshi joins up with the group and listens. Sounds like they're actually getting information. Don't want to interrupt that. * Taki has the right color eyes, she is also walking over to where Katie and Kyon are. [Shun shrugs, ignoring the newcomers. "What the hell. Story time, kids." He leans forward. "So, like, most of this crap started a couple thousand years ago after the Orochi died." Cultural arts (history!) rolls! ] 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Taki (2d6) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 9. ( Although if you personally already know the story, I'll say your character does, too. It's a pretty common story in Japan. ) (nada!) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 9. (Heh. No.) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Satoshi (2d6) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 10. (Nope) ( :O ) (Haruko actually has cultural arts, but she wouldn't have known with that roll either.) (If it's common story Taki would know it, but she's forgotten) 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-3) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 5. (Get.) ( Probably I should have given a bonus. But I didn't. Oh well! ) [He takes another drag. "What you don't hear is Orochi was the king of the oni. When he died, the power of the oni was weakened." ] * Kyon shoves his hands in his pockets and listens. Huh. ["This allowed Queen Himiko to banish the oni to another plane of existance."] * Taki waits and listens. * Katie scratches the back of her neck. "All right." [He leans back. "It's got nothing to do with us, though. I just like the story."] Oh, good. This was begining to sound like one of Haruko's theories. * Katie snerks. (*Herman gates in, whacks Shun with his pipe and gates out.) /me moves between Katie and Kyon for a moment and says quietly. "Akemi will be here in about twenty minutes." (FAIL!) Okay. Thanks, Taki. * Kyon nods tersely, and rolls his eyes at Shun. [Shun yawns. "Seriously, I don't know the story behind it. Guess it doesn't matter much. I like to call them the oni, though, because hey, gotta call 'em something."] What are 'them'? ["You haven't seen 'em?"] ["Check the news."] * Taki moves a bit to the side and waits for context. The watcher things? [He nods. "While I can't tell you their origins, I can say this. They've been in the Tokyo area for a long time. There was a clan of samurai and priests that watched over them, sealing them from this world. "] ["And a prophecy of some such, too. End of the world, eee tee see."] [Over time, the... guardians, I guess we'll call them... knew their power was getting weaker.] ( Quotes! ) (Inserted!) * Satoshi nods. ["About five hundred years ago, it almost failed them entirely. That's where the Arcana come in."] * Kyon nods curtly, and just keeps listening. ["None of them could figure out what to do. But they got lucky. Nobunaga Oda contacted them and told them he had a plan."] * Kyon raises an eyebrow. "The warlord?" ( Another cultural arts (history) roll, if you somehow don't know who that is after hanging out in an anime-based channel for so many years.] ) I thought the tarot started as a Western thing. Were they first from Japan? 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-3) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 6. (I made it! :P) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets a natural 4 for a result of 2. (I'll roll anyway, and fail!) (I made it, which is just as well, since I already know. =P) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Taki (2d6) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 5. [Shun smirks. "That's the guy."] (I'm going to assume that Satoshi didn't sleep through history.) (Woot, made! I know a guy who may or may not have been possesed by demons!) * Taki tilts her head. [Shun puffs his cigarette again. "Say what you want about the guy, good or bad. But Nobunaga's the only one who could have come up with the idea of asking the foreigners for help."] ["You get where this is going?"] The foreigners brought in the Tarot? * Taki doesn't say anything. ( As for those who made their history rolls... um, there's a lot to say about Nobunaga... >.> ) ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oda_Nobunaga ) ( Ah, that works. ) ( I try to make things easier. ^_^ ) * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Go on anyway. Should make things explicit." [Shun nods. "Bingo. They took the strongest guardians and combined them with the cards."] ["They were supposed to perform a joint ritual to banish the oni -- or whatever -- for all time."] * Katie blinks. She doesn't feel very samurai-like. [Shun laughs. "But man, that fell through big time."] Infighting? [Shun nods. "The only one who understood the foreigners was Nobunaga. When he died, people across the country began to feel foreigners were unwelcome."] * Taki nods. * Satoshi nods and looks unsurprised. If the current generation is really reincarnated, there had to be infighting. * Kyon smirks down at Katie. "Right. Not changed so much." ["For their part, the foreigners were upset about being treated this way. So before they were kicked out of the country, they created another set of guardians... er, guess we can call them Arcana now."] * Katie turns her gaze to Kyon. She looks flatly at him for a moment, then sticks her tongue out. ["You can guess who they are."] * Taki nods. The Reversed? It doesn't sound like there's a lot of difference between Reversed and not. ["Yep! Similar, but ultimately we were created for petty vengeance: our job is just to piss you guys off."] * Katie shrugs. And? It's not like anybody's really doing their jobs. That's a rather poor job to have. * Satoshi deadpans. "Good craftmanship." * Kyon smirks wider, and then looks back at Shun sidewise. "Like we need more people for that." * Katie snorts. "Yeah, we piss each other off." * Rowyn has joined #arcana (I'll catch Rowyn up.) ["Anyway, between all the fighting and reformation and more fighting, the oni were kind of forgotten about for a while. It's kind of like when you think about how the sun will burn out one day, you figure it probably won't happen in your lifetime."] [He chuckles. "Only, in our case, it kinda did."] We're that lucky. Does anybody remember what the ritual was? * Disconnected * Attempting to rejoin channel #arcana * Rejoined channel #arcana * Topic is 'Session off March 22. Arcana returns March 29th. ' * Set by Brett on Thu Mar 22 20:16:35 (Never to be seen again) ["It's only in the past few hundred years that they realized the time of the prophecy was closer than they thought. And just when they started to debate what to do, someone blew up the meeting ground.] (... *Stabs Greg in the head and shoves the body in the closet) (?) Well, there was a war. [He shrugs. "Anyhow, they knew 'a' solution. Just not a very good one."] * Kyon looks down at Shun. "What was that?" * Rowyn is now known as Kaede [Shun leans back. "The one you're familiar with: The original ritual is completed, and our kind ceases to be. Except for one of us."] Are you saying we'd die, or are you saying we'd lose our powers? * Taki blinks and shakes her head. ["What they were looking for, our past lives, is an alternative solution. Shinjo found one, but too late for that now."] [Shu looks to Katie. "Smart money's on death."] ( Shun ) Of course. Do you know why there's a survivor? ["Nope!"] ["Bet you a limb Shinjo does, though."] * Katie shakes her head. * Kyon snorts. "And he won't be likely to tell us until he thinks it won't make a difference to him." ["Yeah, probably."] So what's your idea? We were going to ask Winston, since that is his power. [Shun does a sweeping gesture. "Stay right here. It's only the real world that's going to be destroyed."] * Taki blinks. "What are you planning on eating?' ["Canned foods from the grocery."] * Taki nods. "And when that runs out?" ["Doubtful. There's enough canned goods in the world to last a lifetime."] It's weird that the Reversed world looks just like the real one. Because that means it changes with it, somehow. ["You'd think so, wouldn't you?"] It only makes sense. They do go bad after several years, and she is right. [Shun laughs. "You're still trying to make sense of things?"] * Katie eyes Shun. * Taki points out one of the windows. "Did that building exist here twenty years ago?" Well, reversed world is often annoying. That fits. [Shun finishes off his cigarette, "Don't even bother trying to use logic and common sense here. It doesn't work. That's why it's magic."] If you can't make sense of it, then you're not really looking for solutions. But then you already mentioned that... [Shun grins. "Yeah. I got what I wanted already."] (* Herman appears and hits Shun with a pipe.) (Again) I think you are wrong. ["Good for you."] So what is it you wanted? * Kaede shrugs. "So the Tower Reversed wasn't created with the rest of the reversed? It's not exactly antagonistic..." [Shun stands, stretching. "Isn't it obvious. I wanted to beat Sho. And thanks to you, I did. His plan failed. I might not be directly responsible, but a bet is a bet."] What'd you win? * Satoshi checks his analog watch. "Congratulations." ["Satisfaction. He was so confident he could come up with a plan to save us from our fate."] * Kyon snorts. "So you bet that you were going to end up dead. Smart." * Taki shakes her head again. Not him. Everyone else. Well, I suppose we still need to find Winston then. [Shun grins at Kyon. "Yeah, and I won. It's worth the price." Then he heads towards the elevator. "Later, folkes. I reccommend the canned pineapple!"] [He's gone!] * Taki looks at Katie. "What did we miss?" Bargaining with him to get what you heard. * Kaede blows out a breath. "If I disbelieve everything else, I've got to at least admit that the "pissing us off" part sounds true." * Satoshi nods. "That makes more sense than anything else I've heard since this started." * Katie looks at Masaru. "Are you going to stay in the reversed world?" (Figured I'd remind Brett that he's there. :P) [Masaru doesn't hear Katie. He's listening to his walkman and trying to paint... uh... something with a lot of swirly colors.] (Brett? Walkman? Down HERE?) (Uh, yeah. No worky.) ( I didn't say it was working. ) (Uh, this is Masaru.) ( He was doing the same the first time you met him. ) * Katie sighs. Well, I'll head back up in case Akemi calls or texts. Session Time: Thu Mar 29 23:00:00 2007 Oh well. Have to talk to Winston. Okay. There does have to be a reason there's one survivor though. * Satoshi walks over to the elevator. "Maybe that's just what Saki does." ( 'Cause Saki's too cool to kill off with the rest of you. ) * Taki shrugs. "I don't think it involves draining people and turning their blood into drugs." Gotta wonder if it's because she got so mixed up or if she would have done it originally. Well, they were trying to find a way to survive back then. Maybe they experimented on her and it sort of worked. Or maybe you just can't kill Death. Or that. I just don't know enough. The only person that talked to us is just out to annoy us. * Kaede looks over at Taki oddly. "And you're not used to that being Arcana by now?" * Kyon shakes his head bemusedly. "No. He's also out to try to get us to maybe kill ourselves. Very trustworthy." What did you have to give him to get that? * Kyon shrugs. "He wants one of us to play one of his Russian Roulette games. Got ways around it if we survive." * Satoshi looks at Kyon with a bit of doubt, but he nods. * Taki blinks. "You didn't take him up on it again?" Again? We never took him up the first time. * Kyon turns and looks out the window. "We get to choose the name of the game. So we can get a way out easily." Ah, good. * Katie reaches over and grabs Kyon's hand, squeezing very lightly. We talk to Winston. We'll figure out what to do from there, but we already have an idea. * Taki nods. "I don't trust him to play by the same rules as everybody else." I'm not going to hide in the reversed world, anyway. Yes. I couldn't leave Dad behind. (I'm needing to do the sleepings.) I don't think any of us here are planning that. * Kyon tightens up some, and clenches a bit hard for a second, but then looks down at his hand and relaxes it. "Right. So we find a different way. Cards said it could be done. Just have to find the right path." * Satoshi glances over at the hand squeeze and then hits the up button. (I'm done.) ( End? ) (End) [End!]
