[Day: Sunday, April 23rd. Time: 2:15 p.m.] [Weather: Snowing lightly.] [You gather at the subway station closest to the bay-side cafe, where you're meeting Souichirou. The cafe is nestled between a clothes store and a bakery. Across the street is a whole lot of water. There's some benches near the railing that keeps people from falling in the bay, though. Sight rolls!] 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Taki (2d6) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 10. (Kerfailed) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Satoshi (2d6-2) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 4. (Made) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6) and gets a natural 4 for a result of 4. (Good.) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kaede (2d6-2) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 5. (Man, did I fall behind with my bribes or something?) [Anyone who makes it notices the construction site on the other side of the bay. It's a little hard to recognize, though, because it looks like they've been making progress. The building is more than triple the size it was the last time you saw it. Much of that is just frame, though.] [The cafe is named Flower Cafe. Woo. It looks like a Starbucks, really.] [Session Start] * Kyon looks across the bay, snorts, and looks down the street towards the cafe. Huh. * Taki stops looking vaguely around and focuses in Satoshi's direction, still not looking directly at him. "What is it?" * Satoshi points over to the building under construction. "They're finally making progress." * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Must be about to run off contract." He smirks. * Taki looks across the bay. "Does the Tower have to be built before it can be destroyed, or can it be built because it's not being constantly destroyed?" [Taki can't pick it out amongst the other buildings.] * Satoshi thinks it over and shrugs. On to the cafe? * Kyon hefts his sports bag, slings it across his back, and stalks down towards the cafe, warily checking around himself as he goes. * Taki gives up on trying to see the tower and follows him. * Kaede follows as if he was there the whole time. Since he was! * Satoshi follows along with his own sports bag. It's partially open to allow easy access to his hockey stick. * Taki has her backpack, because the carrying important things in bags look is totally in, well mostly so she wouldn't forget it. (Everybody's doing it. :P) * Kyon checks back to make sure people are following, then shakes his head to himself, mutters in Chinese, and keeps on towards the cafe. Session Time: Fri Jun 22 00:00:00 2007 [You head into the cafe. It's nice and quaint there. No second Kyon in sight, but you do spot Megan, and a guy and a girl you don't recognize. They're at a long table, with plenty of room for the rest of you, if you want to sit down.] (When Parents Bring Mail 2: Revenge of the Bank Statement) * Kyon scans the room for anything else suspicious around as he goes in. [Kyon does not see a big flashing sign that says secret entrance anywhere inside.] * Taki looks around blankly. * Satoshi waits for Kyon to head further in and then heads over to the table and sits down. * Kyon looks over the table and scowls when he sees no Souichirou there. He stalks over to the table. "Not everyone could make it?" * Taki follows a few steps behind Kyon. [The guy looks up and waves, smiling. "Yo, Kyon. I changed my look. What do you think?" The guy's fairly tall. He's got a handsome face and his dark hair falls in long bangs.] * Kyon looks him over quickly and smirks. "Can't beat me. But not bad." * Satoshi thinks to Kaede. ~Did we ever see Souichirou and not Katie at the same time?~ * Kaede follows up and looks off to the side at the "new" crew. Though this is mostly Kyon's show. * Kaede thinks back to Satoshi. ~I'm not sure. I never really got a chance to interact with her much.~ * Taki looks past the new Souichirou. * Satoshi frowns. [He shrugs. "Being you got old after a while."] * Kyon shrugs back tersely. "Never has for me." * Kaede doesn't say (or think?) back anything more to Satoshi, but he does seem to be looking on more intently. ["Well, you haven't gotten into wearing other peoples' faces. Anyhow, are you going to order anything, or shall we just get down to business?"] * Satoshi thinks to Taki. ~Taki. Do you remember if not Katie and not Kyon were ever around at once?~ * Kyon sits down gingerly, adjusting his bag to sit next to him. "Can get a coffee." [He nods. "Go for it." This is one of those cafes that doesn't have waitresses, so if you want something, you've got to go to the counter to order it :P] * Taki is a while in responding, and her thoughts change as she's having them, but the basic gist is ~ I'm not sure. ~ * Kyon looks up towards the counter, sees that there's no waitress, then pushes himself up out of his seat and goes to the counter. "Double espresso." (No u in gist.) (Thanks) ~ Me neither. ~ [Kyon gains a double espresso like ultra quick.] * Satoshi thinks to Kyon while he's up. ~ We aren't sure if we ever saw not Katie and not You at the same time. Souichirou might have been both. ~ * Kyon goes back to his seat and, after putting the espresso down, looks over the group before sitting down. "Not getting anything?" * Kyon thinks back, ~Probably was.~ * Taki shakes her head. "Not thirsty." * Satoshi replies. "I'm fine." He doesn't sound it. * Kaede shrugs slightly. "I'm not really thirsty either." * Kyon adjusts the bag on the seat. "Just me, then." He looks at the other group. "You already done?" [Souichirou nods. "Yeah, hope you don't mind."] * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Long as you don't." He picks up the coffee and sips at it. "So you know why we're here?" [He nods. "I can guess. And you know why we're here, of course."] * Kyon smirks. "So you can give us what we want, right?" ["Not very likely."] * Kyon nods quickly. "Right. What do you have, though? You got two?" ["Do you?"] * Kyon picks up his cup again and smirks. "Can't answer anything straight up?" ["I will when you do."] (Statement! Point to Kyon!) This may take some time. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Right. We do. Your turn." You thought this was going to be simple? * Taki starts to walk towards the counter and then stops when Kyon does give a straight answer. ["I'll be frank. We want the items. All of them."] * Kyon shakes his head tersely. "Not answering the question. You have two?" ["I think you know the answer to that already."] * Kyon barks out a laugh. "Come on. You have two? Yes or no." [He folds his hands. "No."] * Kyon nods tersely. "But you do have one." [He nods. "Didn't I tell you that before?"] * Satoshi looks somewhat relieved. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Could have changed. Could have lost it. You know who has the last one?" * Taki turns back around and finishes walking to the counter, where she orders a cup of frothy green tea. ["Of course."] Who? [He wags his finger. "Irrelevant to our business."] * Kyon snorts. "Right." He leans back with his espresso in hand. "So we agree. Need to consolidate them." * Satoshi does a very light telepathic scan of Souichirou. He's not actually trying to read his mind so much as to check whether Souichirou has a mind shield up. [He nods. *and he does!*] * Kyon smirks. "And you disagree that we're the better choice." ["Precisely."] * Kyon shakes his head, and looks across at Souichirou. "Why? We've got more of them. More numbers, too." * Satoshi thinks to Kyon. ~Souichirou's got a strong mental block. That'd fit if he was !Katie.~ [His eyebrows rise. "More numbers? Really? How many of your own kind have you killed this past week?"] * Satoshi winces at that. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "You know we're not going to compare that." * Taki returns with her tea and pulls out a char from a different table to sit in. ["How many?"] [Taki pulls in Hotaru.] ( Oh wait, different table, not game ) * Kyon thinks back, ~Okay.~ Out loud, he says, "Your turn to go first. If you really want this discussion." [Souichirou leans back. "My side is a unified front. Sure, we have our stragglers: Our Magician is completely insane, and our Fool plays both sides. But mostly, we're all on the same page."] [He leans forward. "You, on the other hand, didn't even know your history until a few hours ago. You've been fighting amongst yourselves more than anything. I bet you're not even sure how to do the ritual."] * Taki takes a sip of tea and watches Kyon over the rim of the cup. * Kyon shrugs quickly, and sips some more of the espresso. "Maybe you're right. Doesn't explain why you're more fit. If you have such a united front, how did you end up down one to us?" ["You took the Cup from Saki Morikawa and never gave it back."] * Satoshi looks a bit confused about that. * Kyon snorts. "So, the biker girl is on your side, and you just let her give it up?" ["She's not on our side any more than she's on yours. You should know that. She's one of you. But she's also one of us."] ["Maybe that's why she gets to live when the rest of us all die."] * Satoshi looks less confused about the Saki thing. * Kyon considers this for a moment, then shrugs. "Right. Still. Don't see your claim to be the better group. If you know where the last item is, why don't you have it already?" [He smiles. "Who says we don't?"] You did. A few minutes ago. * Kaede glances at Satoshi for a moment, oddly. [He shrugs. "Only for a few more minutes."] ["Even if you got the items, what would you do with them? And who would you sacrifice?"] * Satoshi thinks to Kaede. ~You might want to send a text message to Akemi and Shika that an ambush may be coming. Assuming you read that the same way I did.~ * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Got our sources. And there's always someone to be found." * Taki stops moving for a few moments after that question is asked. ["Well, you don't seem to have any problem killing your own. But you're still ill-suited to the task."] * Kaede glances at Satoshi. - ( He's been dumbstruck ) * Satoshi glances back. ~He said they may have it in a few minutes.~ (No. One of my keys got stuck. I may be a bit.) * Kyon raises an eyebrow. "You know me. Always been a quick learner. Sure I can work it out. Particularly if you share." ["It's ironic, isn't it? Your side was the one with the council, decades ago. But now we're the united ones while you're splintered. And our majors are mostly active."] * Kyon shrugs quickly. "So where are they? Why haven't I heard of them, if they're so active?" ["Why haven't you, indeed?"] * Kyon smirks. "Being patronizing when asking for something. Good bargaining tool." ["Maybe if you were as organized as us, you could have kept tabs on us as well as we have on you."] * Kyon blows out a breath. "Maybe if you were working so cleanly, the effects would be more apparent somewhere." * Taki speaks up, still with her flat toned voice. "Do you really exist just to vex Kyon?" * Satoshi glances over at Taki and nods. Again, the whole exist to annoy thing is one of the most logical explanations he's ever heard. [He laughs. "Me? I suppose you could say that. But the Reversed as a whole were created because the Europeans who gave you your powers grew not to trust you. We're here to succeed where you'll fail."] (Yes. I'm just that special.) Just one problem. We're not them. [He shrugs. "I'll ask again. How many of your kind have you killed in the past week?"] * Kyon smirks. "Not a one." [He rolls his eyes. "Not you personally. How many of your side are dead?"] * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Hard to say. A few." ["More than ours."] * Satoshi comments sadly. "You got the better deal on insane Magicians." (You don't know that for sure, Their Magician might be !Saki) (I think it's Zein) (I think it may have been established, but I'm not positive.) [He shrugs. "Power corrupts."] * Satoshi nods. * Kaede snorts. * Taki sips tea. Is completing the ritual together out of the question? * Kyon drinks some more of the espresso, watching his conversation partner over the rim of the cup. * Taki eyes Satoshi for a moment. ["Absolutely."] Figures. * Kyon sets down the cup, and leans back, looking at Souichirou coolly. "If you get the items, then you only save your side. Right?" ["From what I understand, we all die one way or another. But who can say for sure?"] * Taki blinks at Kyon. "I must be remembering the wrong. I thought whoever did do it died." * Kyon shrugs quickly. "If you really believed that, you wouldn't be trying to get everything in place." ["Why not? We can't very well leave it to you."] * Kyon looks sidewise over at Taki. "Where'd you hear that?" Then he turns back. "Doing good so far. Can't see why you can't." Sho implied it, and we never did speak to Winston. [Session paused]
