[Day: Thursday, February 6th. Time: 6:30 p.m.] [Weather: It was snowing for a while, but stopped about an hour ago. Still plenty cold, and the sun is nearly down.] [Yesterday, the group (minus Kyon) went to the home of philosophy professor Matsuhiro Iwato. They met his son, Katsuchiyo and his fiance Yumi Maeda.] [After a conversation with Katsuchiyo (Yumi sat there staring at the lot of you the whole time without speaking), Matsuhiro came home and, delighted to find students interested in his work, gave a nice, long, long, LONG discussion for you all. For free. He probably wouldn't have stopped, except you likely got so sick of it that you politely but hurriedly excused yourselves so you could leave.] [Anyhow, now you're all outside the gate of the minimansion.] [Session Start] * Katie stands there, eyeing her signed book as if it's the source of all evil. * Haruko yawnns and stretches. "The indirect approach is certainly wiser, but it can also be painfully boring." * Satoshi shakes his head in an effort to clear it. "Oh, god. I thought we were *never* gonna get out of there!" I thought my ears were going to fall off, how much can one person talk? He just kept going and going. It was an awful lot, yeah. * Katie stuffs the book into her satchel. * Kaede takes his glasses off and rubs his eyes, struggling to keep his head up. "I never though keep..going on and on like that.." We should have just gone in there and been direct, like I wanted. What exactly would you say? "Hello, you may be housing a friend of ours who's wanted for murder..let us search the place."? No. I'd... have thought of something. * Kaede sighs deeply and sets his glasses back on. "I don't even know this girl..I wouldn't know the first thing of where or how to find her. * Katie hmms, then turns to Remi. "I noticed Yumi was looking at you the whole time." Yeah, about that. Didn't any of you notice she was the same girl we followed? * Katie nods. What girl who followed? * Remi nods. "Something's up, I'm sure of it." She also never spoke, it all seems very strange. * Kaede scratches his head. "You've got me at kind of a loss..I feel pretty useless, honestly. I've no idea what you think is going on or anything.." Well, yes. Though it's not odd that she was in the house. She did go in there when we followed her, after all. I was just thinking it's odd that she singled you out. Maybe she recognized me. You think she might have recognized you from somewhere? Though I can't imagine where... Maybe. But why not... well, Taki? Or me? I wonder if she really is Yuji, but being someone's fiancee is one heck of a double life. * Kaede 's gaze slowly drifts to the sky, watching the sun movement. * Remi shrugs. "She looked at you, too." She gave me a glance. She spent most of her time watching you. * Kaede bites his lip suddenly. "Err..wait, what time is it?" Maybe it's because I'm the only one who seemed to notice she was the same. * Katie blinks at Kaede, then pulls up her jacket sleeve and looks at her watch. "Six thirty, about." * Satoshi thinks about what Haruko just said and chokes. * Taki looks at the cheap watch straped to her wrist, "I've got about 6:30." * Kaede almost chokes, his glasses almost falling off his nose as he tips forward. "Si..six..thirty? ... Yeah. Is that bad? * Remi nods. "Long lecture, wasn't it? Felt more like six years." * Kaede slaps his forehead. "If I want to live when I get home..yeah.." I said I needed to be back by six..if anything's happened.. Oh. Well, if you've got to go, go ahead. * Kaede pulls out his cellphone and checks for messages. You got a number where we could reach you? * Kaede leans his cheek on his cellphone and gestures for a piece of paper and pen. * Satoshi rummages around in his pockets and comes up with them, then hands them to Kaede. * Haruko looks to Taki. "Could you help him hurry home? Or would that drain you." [Kaede's cell has more messages than he'd like to see, that much is for sure.] * Katie shivers and hugs her arms. Cold night. * Kaede scribbles down his cellphone number, checking the first few messages just to make sure. I don't know where he lives.^^; * Satoshi takes the pen and paper back, then pulls out his own cell phone and adds the number to his directory. * Haruko ponders. "Maybe a nearby landmark." * Kaede covers the receiver for a second. "You could ask me.." You people and your phones. It's too snowed over..I can't ride my bike that's for sure.. * Satoshi shrugs. "My dad made me get one, after one too many nights of coming home late after practice. It's finally starting to come in handy." * Katie nods and stuffs her hands in her pockets in a futile effort to keep warm. I don't like to go places I can't see, you don't know where if anybody is there to see you or anything. * Kaede takes a deep breath, a cloud forming from it in the air. "It's alright..I'll just walk.." * Haruko nods. "Sensible, oh well." * Kaede rights his bike and starts walking down the street with it, shoulders more than a little slumped. Good Luck Kaede! See ya tomarrow, K? * Katie sneezes. Bye Kaede. Sorry about that. Yeah, take care, and see you later. Hope things don't go too badly for you. * Satoshi pulls a pack of tissues out of his pocket and hands them to Katie. * Remi waves. "Yeah, good luck." * Katie sniffs, but has the decency to look embarrassed. "Thanks." No problem. * Taki rubs her hands across her arms to warm them up a bit. * Katie uses one of the tissues. "Um... actually, I think I had better call my parents and tell them I'm staying out with some friends. Can I borrow a phone?" Sure. * Satoshi hands her his. * Katie accepts the phone, managing not to drop the tissues in the process. * Katie dials, then puts the phone to her ear. * Taki suddenly looks back down at her watch, "Ohh..no...Can I have that next so I can tell my dad to just order some take-out?" Sure. Keep in mind, though, I charge after the first minute. * Satoshi grins. We may just want to split up, I don't think it makes sense to raid until people are probably asleep. If it takes longer than that It's already too late. * Katie sniffs again. "" Though we could juust hang out til then. * Katie hangs up and hands it back to Satoshi with a grin. "Thanks." * Remi taps her foot. * Satoshi hands it to Taki. You're welcome, Katie. * Taki greatfully accepts the phone and dials home. * Katie nods with a sigh. "They're not as bad as Kaede's folks seem to be, but they do get worried." Well, at least they're around to get worried. My dad's never even home any more. Hi dad? ...Yeah it's me, I'm gonna be with some friends making up for lost time, so I'm going to be home late...... Just order something, please? He isn't? Why not? * Satoshi shrugs. "Constant business trips." * Katie frowns a little. Hmmm... maybe I should call, my parents trust me but they'd appreciate one. * Haruko grins at Satoshi. "If you don't mind one more call of course." Sure, go ahead. Remi, anybody you want to call while we're at it? I seem to be the local phone company. No. Didn't think so, but I figured I'd offer. * Taki spends a bit of time convincing her father that take-out would be a good option, and then hands the phone back to Satoshi. "I think that took more than a min." * Katie grins at Satoshi. "" * Haruko puts her hand out for the phone. * Taki looks at Katie and renews her vow to learn English. * Remi starts pacing. * Katie sneezes again. "If we're not doing anything, we should get inside." (We're waiting for Kate to get back so Satoshi can hand the phone to Haruko...) [And then the GM declared that Satoshi gave the phone to Haruko.] (and there was much rejoicing.) (Yay!) * Haruko dials home. Hey, I'm doing a rather involved project with some fellow students, so don't expect me home for a while. * Haruko listens for a few seconds. "Great, love you, bye." * Haruko returns the phone to Satoshi. "Thanks!" You're welcome. * Kaede comes walking back with the bike blinking slightly and looking at the phone. "You'd think..after all that yelling, it wouldn't be so easy..." * Satoshi pockets the phone. Hey, Kaede. What happened? * Kaede rubs his ear slightly. "Well, she kind of seemed happy I'd found some friends..or something..when I called..of course I'm deaf in one ear now." * Kaede puts the phone away and sighs. "Honestly, that girl can be so unpredictable sometimes." Maybe we should get inside, now that we've all made are calls and are back together. I think the whole murder thing convinced her though. * Katie blinks at Kaede, then laughs. * Kaede blushes and looks down, groaning. "Please...don't.." We'll I'm glad you arn't in any more trouble because of us. She's never really yelled like that before though... * Katie smiles. "It's all right, Kaede. I just thought it was funny. You wanted to get away from us really badly." * Kaede shrugs slightly. "It's purely a casual interest... I want to know what exactly is behind this whole mess." Makes two of us. Sure, Kaede. I think we all do. * Katie keeps smiling. "Like I said, though, if we're not doing anything we should get inside." Who wouldn't, and now we go someplace warm. Where? Dinner, maybe? * Remi shrugs. Well...we could either go right back in there, out to dinner, or go hide in that bookstore untill later. Maybe you can fill me in a bit more about this whole murder thing..I feel very lost here, I'm not going to do much good. Dinner works. Anybody have any ideas where? I'm..not used to eating out. How about nearby and warm? ^_^ * Kaede rubs his shoulders, the cold finally getting to him now that all the stress is gone. * Satoshi looks around, figuring that at any moment, a nearby restaurant will miraculously be brought to his attention. ^_^ As the closest we have to a local, where do you recomend Remi? There's a good French restaurant not far from here. Not too expensive I'd hope. Nah. It's only about half the cost of a really good one. Sounds good. Wonderful. Mediocre food. Allways better than horrible food. ( Everyone, feel free to make a mind roll: Cultural arts: restaurants. ) 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-1) and gets 6. (I figure, why not. :P) (I'm not going to roll, then we would wind up at Mario's) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6) and gets 7. (Oooh my first roll, exciting ^^) (I figure no matter how smart Kaede is, he's too sheltered to know about even a ramen shop :P) * Katie blinks, then frowns a little. "Though... I think it's still out of my price range, Remi." Hmm... We'll, there's a sushi bar a bit further. Anything to get out of the cold..why don't we just walk in that general direction? Yeah, moving sounds good, at least. * Remi shrugs and leads on. * Haruko yawns again, and follows. * Taki nods and walks. We can always go to Luigio's New York Style Italian Diner. Odd name, but the food's good. * Kaede walks his bike behind them. [Satoshi's cell phone unexpectedly rings!] Okay, which one of us is that for, I wonder? * Satoshi answers. "Satoshi here." "Oh, hey, Hikaru. What's up?" ( There's no more hotdogs? I'll be there right away! ) "Now? Can't you find somebody... okay, okay. Yeah, I understand. Is it gonna take long?" (This is Satoshi, not Zell. ;p) ( Can't have a hockey game without hotdogs! ) "All right, I'll be right over. Right. Seeya." * Satoshi hangs up. (They filled the rink with WHAT?!) Sorry, guys. Team emergency. I shouldn't be away for too long. I hope. I'll just meet you back here in two hours. That okay? Sure. Great. Sorry 'bout this. See you then Satoshi. * Remi nods. "Right. Don't be late." I'll try not to. Later! Later! * Satoshi waves and walks off. * Katie waves. "Good luck!" * Katie opens her satchel and starts rooting around in it. You know..it's been years since I've been out this late..it's..weird. How so? Just..how dark it gets I suppose. And the sky.. * Remi keeps leading the group, stopping at Sushi For You! a few blocks later. It's a small shop set in the side of a building. * Kaede frowns slightly. * Katie snerks at the name of the restaurant. * Haruko looks sympathetic. "Wow, I couldn't imagine forgetting about the night sky." * Remi goes inside! It just..never seemed important is all. * Kaede looks at the name. "I...never thought they actually called places things like this.." * Kaede shrugs and heads inside, hoping the food's better than the name. I think it's nice to be out late like this, especialy when I don't have to worry about Dad making some kind of huge mess in the kitchen that I'd have to clean up. I've always cooked for myself. Well, sometimes Nanami pitches in.. You too? We'll have to swap notes some time. * Haruko follows Remi in. "There are things one can do at night that one can't during the day, I couldn't imagine losing that time." * Katie wanders on in. "Who's Nanami, if you don't mind me asking? You keep talking about her." [The sushi bar is practically just that: a bar. There's 10 stools in front of it horizontally, with just enough room for people to squeeze past each other. All in all, a pretty small place.] She's my baby sister.. * MushroomForMario is now known as SushiGuy Ah. I should have guessed. * SushiGuy looks up and smiles as everyone enters. "Hi every-bo-dy!" * Katie blinks at the Sushi Guy and somehow refrains from falling off the chair. (And now, we see the Nurse Joy Effect.) [Gee, doesn't he look familiar? :P] * Taki doesn't fall off a chair, she isn't sitting on one yet, but she just about falls over. * Kaede adjusts his glasses slightly and mutters under his breath. "He certainly seems..cheerful.." What can I get you to-day? * Haruko takes cheeriness in stride and orders something cheap. * Kaede orders a bowl of rice. * Remi takes a seat and orders, um, sushi * Katie orders rice, tempura, and tea. It's way too cold for sushi. * Haruko sits, and swivels left then right if the stool allows. [It does! Yay!] (Spin!) * SushiGuy happily takes your orders, giving you scrumptious food with a cheerful smile. He must love his job as much as the Ramen Guy. * Taki finds her way to a stool and sits down heavly, "Uhm...I'd like...A large bowl of rice and some tea." ::looks over the menue:: * SushiGuy takes Taki's order, too :P * Kaede pulls out his phone and sighs, pressing a button to delete the messages. "She's too protective sometimes. Honestly, I can take care of myself." ( Wanna bet? o/~ ) (Eep ^_^;) * Katie smiles as she gets her order. "Would you know a man who runs a ramen stand outside of Sakuragaoka at all?" (I don't care how hungry she is, newbies are most definatly OFF of Saki's new diet :P) * SushiGuy thinks. "Nope! Can't say I do!" * Haruko is well pleased with the food and the swiveling, gives a thank you smile to SushiGuy and proceeds to eat. ( So... Saki should concentrate on Katie and Taki, since they're the eldest? :P ) * Taki drinks some of her tea to warm up and then digs into her rice. (But Katie has no magic to make her taste good..yet ^_~) ( Not that she knows about :P ) (<- has the magic power to FLEEE!) (Well, yeah ^^) So, how are we going to do this? * Kaede nibbles on the rice, not seeming very much hungry. What makes you think she's in the mansion anyhow? Maybe she is, maybe she isn't. But that girl knows something, I can say that much. * Katie eats. "There is something about that girl." * SushiGuy happily goes about his business, not really paying attention to the lot of you. But..she doesn't talk is another problem. Probably just scared. She knew us. She doesn't know me..or shouldn't at least. So how do we make her not scared? Suddenly showing up in her room won't help us there. No, best we could do is search for Remi's friend, who isn't being kept upstairs near as I could tell. You didn't SEEM like someone who had to use the bathroom.. * Remi raises an eyebrow at Kaede. So..that leaves downstairs..or possibly even outside. * Haruko shrugs. "Well, I tried to sseem like it, I'm no actress though." * Kaede turns to Remi, not having noticed the expression. "Do you know if there's a cellar in the house? She might be down there too." How would I know? House that big probably has a cellar. Cellars or attics or hidden rooms, this is going to be a lot of work. Well, I was assuming since you knew her, you knew the place as well..forgive me for being wrong. I don't think that's Eiko's house, Kaede. I don't *know* her, I just recognized her from before. I suppose...well, we could each pair up and try to search a different area. * Katie scratches at her cheek and nods. * Kaede frowns slightly. "I'm trying to do the best I can with the little information I've gotten..it's not easy." How do we find eachother agian then? It's a big house. Though we may want to wear at least elementary disguises. If we get seen, we don't want to be recognized. Well, I've got a cell, so does that other guy..anyone else? If we each have one, then we can keep in contact. I've got one. So's that other guy that left. That makes three. Should be enough. * Kaede nods and looks evenly at each of them, gesturing slightly. "Three phones, three groups...question is where to search?" * Taki nods "Hmm, one upstairs, one downstairs, and one outside?" The bedrooms were upstairs, we should probably avoid that floor until we've exhausted other possibilities. Good idea..though if there's an attic, we might want to check there. * Kaede puts his fingers together and sighs slightly, closing his eyes and flexing them in front of him. "I've never done anything like this before.." * Haruko giggles. "Wheras we are professional theives." * Katie coughs. There may have been an attic, but we'd probably have to search around some for the entrance, as I didn't see one. And that close to the bedrooms, we'd have to be very careful not to make noise...we're not even sure if we're going to be able to get into the house if they lock it tight. * Remi nods. * Taki gives Kaede a big grin and points to herself "I'm getting us in, remember?" * Kaede blinks. "I'd..forgotten." Okay, so whoever makes the least noise should probably take upstairs..how about downstairs? * Kaede blushes slightly. "I think I'll go outside..I still don't feel comfortable entering someone else's house without permission.." I kinda figured I'd be in that group 'cause I'm kinda easy to spot and if the upstairs people get in trouble then can run down and I can get them out. The downstairs group, that is. I'm in...no I'm not nervious at all. You should probably grab a hat or something though, reduce your spotability aand recognizability. * Taki nods. * Katie puts her chin on a hand and drums her fingers. If we had time, I could just go home, I think I've still got plenty of black hair dye. I'm tempted to take the downstairs, if the cellar is locked I have a smidge of skill opening such things. I could make a little chart for the upstairs group though. * Kaede frowns slightly. "If it were day, I'd get shade covers for my glasses, but I wouldn't be able to see anything this late." There's a clothing store not far, open until 9:00. We can just grab stuff from there. Lights! we're going to need lights! That'd make us more noticable though. Great, gloves might be wise too, wouldn't want to leave finger prints. * Kaede rubs his chin and looks at Katie and Remi. "How about you?" Shame we couldn't get nightvision goggles, I'd love to have a pair of those. Not as noticable as turning on the house lights. * Remi shrugs. "I can just create a field if need be. But that won't help us find Eiko if she's there." If you have several hundreds of thousands of yen to spare for those sorts of things, I'd be all for it. * Katie blinks once. "Hm? Ah... outside." * Haruko spaces out while considering the fine technology of burgluring. * Kaede tilts his head to the side, looking at Katie more curiously. "You have a thought?" I mean, I- * Katie pauses, then sighs. "It's nothing." * Kaede curls his lips in a strange way, hitting him wrong but goes back to thinking. I guess that leaves you and that other guy, Remi..Satoshi was it? * Remi thinks. "Satoshi, yeah." I hope you two are quiet then...if we get caught.. * Haruko shakes her head. "Sigh, so many toys, so little money. Hey Remi, maybe you should take upstairs, and use the field to safely find the attic." I don't care what we do, as long as we do something. * Kaede groans slightly and rubs his head. "I'll never hear the end of it from Nanami if I make it on the late night news." * Remi shrugs. "I can do that, but I can't find Eiko that way." * Kaede thumps his head on the table, still rubbing it and groaning. So turn it off after you find the entrance to the attic...or get up there, or something. * Haruko grins at Keade, "So, we won't get caught, that should solve the problems nicely." Easy for you to say.. We'll just tell them we're ghosts and then disapear. * Katie snickers. Don't mind us, friendly neighborhood Kami protecting you from murder suspects. Or protecting murder suspects from you, as the case may be. * Kaede lifts his head up slowly. "I'm going to call Nanami and see if she can pick up my bike..it'll be too much of a pain dragging it back there..and it'd be too obvious." But..she might get suspicious. You could just leave it a block away or so. how's she going to move it? * Kaede blinks slightly. "I didn't really think of that..it's just..she seemed worried..she always does." * Katie nods. * Kaede eats the rest of his rice in silence. * Remi finishes off her food. * Taki notices that her rice is getting cold while she talks and digs back in. * Haruko finishes up her food, and resumes playing on her stool. * Katie finishes, takes a long sip of tea, and fishes around in her satchel. She gradually comes up with enough money and puts it on the counter. * Remi pays and stands up. "Well, let's get prepared." * Katie nods and heads out. Whoo! * Kaede puts out a few yen for the rice, then stands up, pushing his glasses back as he does so. * Remi follows Katie out. Right. ::starts digging for money and eventualy comes up with enough to pay for her meal:: * Kaede follows Remi who's following Katie out. * Haruko pays, resorting to using a fair number of coins, and joins the rest. [And that's when a meteor fell on the world! .... Erm, I mean, that's when the session ended!]
