[Day: Saturday, February 15th. Time: 2:50 p.m.] [Yesterday was a day full o' chocolate. But that was yesterday, and it's back to boring old classes today. Fortunately, it's also Saturday. Tomorrow's a day off! Yay! Anyhow, most of you are at or heading to the lockers, as usual.] [Session Start!] * Katie is seated and sketching, per usual. * Satoshi wanders over to his locker, Jin in tow. * Jin follows Satoshi, looking around. Hi guys. * Kaede heads down the hall, kaban over his shoulder, looking up near the ceiling as he walks. Heya, Katie. * Jin waves to Katie. "Hi." * Katie looks up and grins at the boys, then turns to Kaede. "Afternoon." * Kaede looks down as he's addressed and waves. "Ah..afternoon Katie." * Kaede leans against the locker and rubs his shoulder a bit. "And you two as well." Heya, Kaede. * Kaede winces a bit as he touches his shoulder and stands back up, setting his kaban on the ground and looking in his locker. * Satoshi looks at Kaede. "Did you hurt your shoulder or somethin'?" * Kaede turns around and blinks. "Oh..um.." He blushes and looks down. * Katie blinks at that. "What happened?" Well..um.. A fight? No Jin..not..exactly.. * Jin looks at Satoshi and Kaede. "Should I beat someone up?" Jin no! ... Oh. I just...got teased a little when I came home with all the boxes..that's all.. Ahh, your sister? * Kaede nods slowly. Heh. Almost makes me kinda glad I don't have siblings. * Katie chuckles. "Must've gotten you good." She..has her ways. She kind of caught me by surprise..she apologized and all.. * Jin blinks. "Apologized after ambushing and injuring you?" Sister, no less. It's not really like that, Jin...it's..complicated. * Jin tilts his head. "Complicated?" Haven't you had si...oh. I guess you wouldn't remember even if you did... * Jin shakes his head. * Kaede lets out a long sigh and leans up against the locker, taking off his jacket slowly to inspect his shoulder. * Satoshi grins. "You want me to lend you some padding for next time, Kaede?" She'd..probably just find another spot all the same. * Satoshi chuckles. "All right." * Kaede grumbles and looks down at the ground. [And then, Chikako arrives!] * Satoshi looks over and waves. "Heya, Chikako. What's cool today?" * Kaede 's concentrating on rolling up his sleeve..it's a pretty good shade of purple under there. * Chikako waves. "It's so cool that you asked, Satoshi! There's a cool book- signing by a cool author at a cool bookstore not far from here! Let's all go see!" Wait, a booksigning? Who is it? * Katie waves at Chikako. * Kaede looks up suddenly. "There's a what?" Kensuke Sorazawa. Isn't that a cool name? (Should we roll to see if it sounds familiar or anything?) ( Sure :P ) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Satoshi (2d6) and gets 12, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "My momma always said, you gotta take the good with the bad. Have a little bad." ( Mind - writing (fiction) ) (Okay. Not only have I never heard of him, but I've forgotten half the stuff I've ever read. ;p) 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Katie (2d6-1) and gets 4. (I win!) [Satoshi isn't even sure what a book-signing is.] 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kaede (2d6) and gets 11. (Gwah ;_;) * Katie blinks. "Oh, wait. Isn't he the one who keeps submitting stories to the paper?" * Chikako nodnodnods. "Uh-huh! Isn't it cool?" Um... this may sound like a stupid question, but what exactly happens at a book signing? I think Katie said there aren't any stupid questions.. * Jin nods. "Katie said that yesterday." * Kaede pushes his glasses up and grins a little, especially at Jin's repetition. It's when the author a book signs an autograph on it for you. It's so cool! Oh, an autograph session. Okay, neat. * Katie starts packing. "I'm for it." * Satoshi shrugs. "Sure, why not?" * Chikako grins. "It's gonna be so cool!" * Jin looks at Satoshi. You can just tell he's trying to come up with an explanation for "Why not?" :P Do we need anything to sign though? * Chikako waves a stack of papers, grinning merily. "I got plenty! Cool, huh?" Heh. Good thinking. I..should have known.. (Or, you could buy a book there and get it signed. Make the book store happy. =P) * Katie closes her satchel and stands, slinging it over her shoulder. "At least it's not philosophy." Yes. It's not? Nah, it's... uh, what is it? I haven't read any of his stuff that's been in the paper. * Chikako hops happily towards the door. "C'mon! This is gonna be so cool!" She stops to wait for you. (Kaede spent all his money yesterday :P) I probably should. * Kaede rubs his head and grumbles. "How do I get roped into these things..?" * Katie walks, grinning. "Because you love us." He does? * Jin peers at Kaede. * Kaede tilts his head at Katie. "I...don't think that's quite right..." * Kaede sighs. "Let's just go..." He moves over to walk towards Chikako and the door. Aww, you don't? I'm hurt, Kaede. Hurt! * Satoshi chuckles and follows the others. * Kaede just shakes his head and puts his hands in his pockets, pushing open the door and heading out, still kind enough to hold it for the next person. [Time: 3:30. The crew goes to "Ayumi Books", where the signing is supposed to be held. And there is, indeed (<- look! I can say indeed all I want and Ard can't do anything about it!), a long line of people waiting to get books signed. Most of them are young girls, oddly enough.] * Kaede blinks as he walks in the store. "Um..is he a shoujo author too or something?" Sure looks like it. * Chikako grins. "He's pretty cool!" She hops in line. * Kaede tries to peer around the line to get a good look at this guy. [Kaede can't see through the fans!] * Katie waits, and waits, and just gives up and pulls out a notebook. * Katie starts doodling. * Kaede looks at the line. "Well, I want to get a look at this guy everyone thinks is so popular..guess there's only one way to do that.." Heads to the end of the line. [Kaede walks to the desk at the front of the line, looking for the author. But for some reason, he finds Kyon sitting behind the desk, instead.] * Kaede blinks slightly. "Please don't tell me YOU'RE writing as a Kensuke Sorazawa.." * Katie doodles, doodles, glances up at Kyon, goes back to doodling, blinks, then looks up at Kyon again. * Kyon doesn't really pay attention to Kaede. He's too busy signing books. * Satoshi walks over to the others and looks quite surprised when he sees exactly who's doing the book signing. * Kaede blinks slightly and still waits his turn then, pulling out a piece of paper anyhow just in case he's "too into it" [A buncha girls shoo Kaede to the end of the line.] * Katie moves a little so Satoshi can take a look. * Kaede already DID go to the end of the line :P * Satoshi raises an eyebrow, but says nothing, staying out of the way of the line. [About 30 minutes later, your group gets to the front!] * Chikako hands Kyon a paper, grinning like mad. "This is so cool!" * Kaede waits for a second in case Kyon's going to look up. * Jin looks rather bored, meanwhile. "Why didn't we just walk past everyone?" * Katie snickers. It's not polite. Cause other people have been waiting longer, Jin, and they'd get mad if we did that. * Kaede sighs and turns towards Jin. "It's a rule, Jin. If you see a lot of people waiting, you go to the end..they were here before you." * Kyon starts slightly, and looks up at Chikako as he takes the paper. He doesn't see the people behind her yet. He does sign the paper, though. "Hey. Didn't think you'd read the book." Of course I did! It was so cool! That's a silly rule. They should've just walked past, too. * Satoshi sighs at Jin. "But if everybody did that, they'd all be trying to do the same thing at once. It'd be pretty chaotic." * Jin peers at Kyon. "Then they should get more people to do what he's doing." * Kyon nods quickly, and looks back down at the paper. "Didn't bring your copy to get signed?" Uh... I kinda forgot. * Kaede sighs and just rubs his forehead, turning back around. * Satoshi decides that he's not quite up to the task of explaining this to Jin. Not without getting severely annoyed. * Kyon shrugs. "Bring it to school. Can do it after classes." Cool! * Katie looks around. "Do you have any extra copies we could buy, Kensuke?" Her eyes twinkle. * Jin blinks. "Kensuke? Isn't this Kyon?" * Satoshi idly toys with the idea of telling Jin that it's Kyon's twin brother. * Jin peers at Kyon. "Queen of Wands. It's Kyon, isn't it?" * Kyon blinks hard once, and looks over the next group of people. He scowls. "I'm going to fire my agent." Why? It looks like you're doing pretty well for yourself... Sorazawa- san. You have an agent? That's so cool! * Jin tugs Satoshi's sleeve. "But that's Kyon." * Kaede rubs his forehead more and just groans. "I guess it's an interesting enough pen name. In English it'd still be K.S. too..pretty clever.." * Satoshi looks at Jin. "Remind me later to explain the concept of pen names." [Someone behind you says irritatedly, "Hey, hurry up! I've got things to do too, you know."] Pen names? * Kyon narrows his eyes for a second, then smirks. "It is selling well. Got a lot of people to sign for." He looks down the line. "My writing's popular." Like... a writing pen? Or a pig pen? To the girls..why am I not surprised? Writing pen. Why would you name a pen? Oh, okay... a pen name is when somebody writes something, but uses a name other than their own. * Jin blinks. * Kyon turns his smirk on Kaede. "Read it yourself before you decide." * Katie runs her hand through her hair. "Let's move. People are waiting." What does writing something have to do with naming your pen? There are a couple of reasons why. Probably the most common is when you don't want somebody to know it's you. * Kaede steps off to the side of the desk and just shakes his head. "I can't afford it right now anyways.." And you don't actually name the pen. It's... an expression. The voice from behind says: "Yes, people are waiting." An expression? Like a smile? * Kyon shakes his head quickly, and smirks at Katie. "So, you want my autograph?" A figure of speech, Jin. Satoshi..let's leave "Sorazawa-sama" to his work.. Figure of speech? Uh... So, you name a pen like the expression on a figure? Does this figure have to be drawn first? * Kaede slaps his head, anticipating the next question. "Something you say that isn't quite exactly what you mean, Jin." * Satoshi nods at Kaede. "Much success with your career, Sorazawa-san." * Satoshi steps out of line next to him. It isn't? I thought it was. No, I mean a figure of speech is when you say something that has a different meaning than is literal. * Chikako moves next to Kyon, too, humming to herself. * Kyon smirks at Satoshi. "Wait in line, and don't get an autograph. Just a waste of time." * Katie snickers and flips to a blank notebook page, then holds it out to Kyon. "Just sign it already." She grins. * Satoshi shrugs. "Had nothing better to do." * Kaede turns to Kyon. "Oh, we just wanted to see the magnificent author..that's more than enough for us.." * Jin stays in line. "I don't get it." [There's not too many people behind you, mind.] * Kyon signs the notebook with a small flourish, and shakes his head at Katie. "Should buy the book." Maybe I will. * Katie gets out of the way. * Jin winds up being next in line. He peers at Kyon. "Did you change your name? * Kaede sighs even more. "It's..so hard taking him out in public.." [The girl behind looks very impatient.] * Kyon scowls at Jin. "No. But letting everyone know that I write this isn't what I want. So I use a different name." He looks back at the line. "You have something to sign?" * Kaede glances at the girl behind and mutters a bit, looking down the line to see if there's anyone recognizable. * Satoshi looks at Kaede. "I'm starting to get used to it, I guess." It'll be scary when I actually *am* used to it, though. * Jin blinks a few times, then peers down at Kyon's pen. "I can if you let me borrow that." [Kaede sees nobody he knows.] * Kaede shakes his head and groans and just walks over. "Jin, just come on.." He tries to grab his wrist. * Kyon scowls, and shakes his head. "This is how it works. You give me something to sign. Preferably the book. Then I sign it. You thank me graciously and go off with them." He waves off at the rest of them. Uh... * Jin looks down at himself. "But I don't have a book." Don't worry about it Jin..it's just..the rest of these people do so come on..we'll wait. * Kyon shrugs. "Get your host to buy one for you. Then I'll sign it." He looks to the next person, and gestures for them to come forward. * Chikako gives Kyon another copy of the school newspaper. "Aw, sign this for him, at least? He's so cool!" * Kyon rolls his eyes, and signs it quickly. * Kaede takes another deep sigh. * Chikako smiles. * Chikako hands the paper to Jin. * Jin just blinks at it confusedly. Just...step off to the side, Jin. Wait with Katie and Satoshi, okay? Uh... Ok. * Jin does just that. [The impatient girl does come forwards and practically slams her book down. "Yes, make it out to Takako Matsumura. That's T-A-K-A-K-O M-A-T-S-U-M-U- R-A. Don't slip up, and don't take long, either. I'm very busy and don't have time to wait. God knows I've spent enough time here as it is."] * Kaede turns to Chikako and closes his eyes, rubbing the bridge of his nose under his glasses. "Thanks Chikako..." * Katie raises an eyebrow and looks the girl over. * Chikako grins. "It's cool." * Satoshi observes Kyon and the impatient girl. This ought to be fun. * Kyon looks up at her and tries not to laugh. "You have no time, and yet you waited in the line for that long. You want an inscription?" * Takako is a pretty young girl in a Shunyo uniform. Her eyes are brown, her hair is done in red French-Curls. * Kaede looks up over his glasses and blinks. This sounds a bit familiar... Sure. "To Takako Matsumura. Your beauty and grace is unsurpassed." Yes, that will do nicely. * Kaede blinks again and just slaps his forehead once more, muttering under his breath. "Un..surpassed...is it?" * Jin looks at Kaede. "Is it? It doesn't look like it." * Katie fights a snicker. * Satoshi idly wonders how Takako and Kyon's egos can fit in the same room. * Kyon rolls his eyes. "Right." He signs it quickly, then makes out the inscription. The "un" part looks suspiciously small and somewhat like an inkblob. * Takako certainly doesn't notice. "Well. That was nice and fast." She takes her book. "Because of that, I _may_ consider buying your future works. You may rejoice now." * Takako heads off with the book in tow. * Kaede looks off to the side. "Oh hurrah." Hurrah! * Kyon looks down the line, then waves very sarcastically at the girl's back. * Satoshi snickers as soon as she's out of earshot. "Well, I'm rejoicing... that she's gone, that is." * Kaede adjusts his glasses. "It was very graceful the way she slammed that book down, that's certainly true.." I thought so too. She wasn't very cool. * Kaede blinks and looks at Jin. "Um..did you mean that or not?" Uh... I think I did. I kinda doubt Jin undertands the concept of sarcasm, Kaede. I...figured. [About 10 minutes later, all the people left get their books signed, and it ends.] * Kyon signs the last one, and looks around for the store manager. Hey Jin, just out of curiousity, would you know if that girl was a card or not? I'm ... Not sure. Not sure if she was or not sure you could tell? [Kyon finds him.] Um.... I'm not sure. * Kaede slaps his forehead again. "Why am I not surprised...?" I don't know. I know you don't. You do? * Katie shakes her head. It was a rhetorical question, Jin. * Kyon stands up, stretches, and walks over to him. "Well then, my time is up. I trust sales were satisfactory?" I don't know. [The manager nods happily.] Satoshi..let's..not bring up so much..we'll spend up most of the night. ( He doesn't sell food, so he doesn't love his job so much. ) (But I bet he loves the money coming in ^^) Tell me about it. [Time: 4:30] * Kaede slaps his forehead. "Jin, don't respond to that." Well... Uh, ok. * Satoshi sighs and shakes his head. * Chikako looks at her watch. "I gotta run! It was so cool of you guys to come, though!" * Kyon nods tersely. "Good. My agent will be in touch." He bows perfunctorily to the manager, and looks around the store. See you later, Chikako! * Kaede waves over to Chikako. Take care, Chikako. * Katie smiles. [The store is a very typical bookstore. There's even some boring philosophy books in one section.] (Hee. ^_^) * Chikako smiles back and waves. "Cool! Later!" She dashes off, and wow! She's fast. * Chikako is now known as Kirby * Kaede looks over at the table, just to catch the title of the book. * Katie snickers and turns to Kyon. "Why don't you want people to know you write, anyway?" Maybe he doesn't write well? Nah, he probably just doesn't want people bothering him. Oh. ... It doesn't seem to work. * Kyon spots the others, and stalks over. "I don't want to be mobbed at school by fans." Outside of things like this, Jin. He's already a vice president...why get into that line if you don't want people bothering you? I don't know. And wouldn't having a book signing mean someone from the school might come and recognize you and spread rumors anyway? It's kind of hard to deal with Arcana business if you're constantly followed by a group of fans, I'd guess. Is it? I think so. Oh. * Kyon shrugs. "My agent told me this would be far enough away, and no one from Sakuragaoka would show up." He scowls again. Better have a talk with him. * Kaede adjusts his glasses. "Chikako told us..you KNOW she'll find out about anything..." She's cool. Chikako brought us. I thought we walked. * Satoshi grins at Jin's first statement, then answers his second. "Well, yeah, but we came with her." And because of her. * Jin nods. "But we walked." * Kyon blows out a breath. "I know she found out. It was in the paper. But I couldn't cancel." He smirks. "My first book, and my first signing. Need the publicity." * Satoshi sighs. "Yes. Yes we did." Your first? Congradulations. * Jin blinks at Kyon. "You couldn't? Did they force you?" Seems that's an awfully mixed message though..not wanting to be found out and then getting it printed in the paper.." * Satoshi nods. "Yeah, congratulations. I'm actually quite impressed." * Kyon shrugs. "I didn't get it printed. Chikako did it on her own." But congratulations on your first book anyhow. It's a pretty major accomplishment. It is? You try writing and see if it gets published, Jin. Yep. Not that many people get books published. Uhh... Okay. I'm not sure how, though. * Kyon looks at Jin oddly before turning back to the others. "Yeah. Selling well, too." Is that why? Because nobody knows how? That's the problem with many people actually. It takes a certain kind of talent. They should teach that at that place you go, then. And even if you get published, there's no guarentee you sell the books anyways. They do. But not everyone has that kind of talent. It's like.. Are you sure? How do you know? * Kaede tries to think of something Jin would understand. "It's like fighting..you can learn how to fight decently, but not everyone is as naturally good as others." They're not? Nope. Oh. ... Why not? You don't remember any of your training fighting do you Jin? * Jin shakes his head. Yet you still fight pretty well don't you? That's more of a natural talent. Are you sure? I would...think so.. I just know how to hurt things. Well, that is a talent... Oh. * Kaede sighs. "Anyways, I still need to get to some searching..I don't have anything on.." He looks around to see if anyone is in the store but just in case. "That group yet.." The band, you know.. * Jin looks at the store, then to Kaede. "You could go in." * Katie nods. * Kyon shakes his head quickly, and rocks back on his heels. "I spent too long here already. I'd rather go eat." Not that kind of searching, Jin. There's another kind? * Kaede holds up his kaban and taps it. "Internet searching..it's pretty useful, especially nowadays." Oh. Where do we find this "Internet"? It's all on computers..and it'll take too long to explain so just please leave it at that Jin. Ok... * Jin looks over at Satoshi. "How did they get this "Internet" onto computers? I honestly don't know. Oh. It involves a bunch of other computers, but that's about all I know. So... They use these other computers to support it? It must weigh a lot. Well..we can go someplace to eat and I can look while we're there.. Wouldn't it be better to use stone pillars, though? * Kyon goes back to the table, and picks up his bag, before heading out the doors of the store. Yeah, let's do that. It's not like that, Jin. And let's go before Kyon leaves us all behind. * Katie heads on out as well. * Satoshi follows the others, making sure that Jin's following them along as well. * Jin follows the others out. "It's not? It's not. I can't really explain how it actually works. * Kaede grumbles under his breath. "And I think I could but only to normal people.." Did you lose your memnory? No. It's something that I never knew at all. I guess I could get some books or something and study it. Oh. * Kyon walks in front of the group, looking like he knows exactly where he's going. Which he does; he heads into a tempura restaurant near the bookstore. ( Joy! ) (*prepares to add Tempura Guy to the list*) (Just how many work-loving chefs will we have in this town?) [And they get there in no time. The cook looks up happily as customers enter. "Hi Every-bo-dy!"] (We don't have an Okonomiyaki Guy yet.) ( As many as we need :P ) * Satoshi isn't surprised at this. Really. He's not. * Kirby is now known as TempuraGuy * Katie chuckles. (Or an Imo-guy) What can I get you to-day? * Kyon scans the menu quickly, and shrugs. "Tendon." * Kaede reaches in his pocket and pulls out what he has left and droops his head. "I'll have..water." I'll cover for you if you want, Kaede. You can pay me back later. No..I'm..not really that hungry. Okay. * Satoshi glances at the menu. "Vegetable tempura for me, please." (There is no such thing as chicken tempura, right? ;p) (Nope!) ( Sure there is! :P ) * Katie considers, then points. "Ikadon, please." (Tempura Guy can make it! With a smile!) ( There's all kindsa tempura. Try the pepperoni next time. ) * Jin looks at Satoshi with big puppydog eyes. * Satoshi orders chicken tempura for Jin, since, in this world, it apparently exists. I know, Jin. Chicken. * TempuraGuy takes the orders and, in a matter of minutes, happily prepares and delivers the food. Boy, he loves his job! Oh. Chicken is good. You know if you only give him chicken, he'll never learn to like anything else.. * Katie chuckles. He won't eat anything else, Kaede. I've tried. * Kaede blinks slightly then turns to Jin. "Why?" Uh... I don't know. * Katie just takes her food and has a seat. It tastes good. * Kyon takes his food, and heads back to the corner table. Looks like he's been here before. * Satoshi grabs his food and sits down at the same table as everyone else. * Kaede sets his kaban next to a chair in the table and opens up the strap and flap, pulling out his laptop. * Jin follows the others and sits down. * Katie munches and watches Kaede with some amount of curiosity. * Kyon breaks his chopsticks apart, and looks at Kaede. "You said you didn't find anything?" * Kaede flips open the screen and starts it up, taking a sip from the water and setting it some distance from the laptop. * Kaede shakes his head. "Well, actually I found a bit too much was the problem.." * Jin breaks his chopsticks apart and starts eating. He knows how (Haruko told him). I might be looking the wrong way though. * Satoshi eats a bit. "So you think you have more to go on now?" * Kyon eats some of the shrimp, and watches Kaede quietly. Maybe a little..I have a last name at least.. Maybe you need a map? But if they go by false names they...what? * Kaede blinks and looks at Jin. "What do you mean?" Well... If you can't find what you're looking for, you usually use a map. A map...I wonder... If we looked for places who were booking bands... We just left a place with books. Mmm, they are supposed to be good. They might lead us to the one we're looking for. * Kaede nods slightly. * Kaede brings up an explorer window and tries to find out about local bands and where they'd be performing. * Kyon cocks his head. "The Band is large, too. Bands with seven members are uncommon. So even without the name, you should be able to look from that standpoint." And this kind of booking refers to making a contract with someone to come and do something for you. I guess the term's origin comes from writing it down in an appointment book or something so you won't forget who's coming, when, and what they're doing. * Kaede nods. "That's a good idea." oh. * Kaede searches for seven member bands, then types in "Shingo Ryuuzaki" * Jin nods to Kaede. "Yeah. That's a good idea." 2d6-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kaede (2d6-6) and gets -4, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I hate these guys. Give 'em one for me." [Kaede's browser is loading. Jin is eating food. Feel free to talk.] * Kaede taps his fingers in front of the keyboard, wrapping them on the table. * Kyon eats stuff too. He looks sidewise at Katie. "You read my stories?" I haven't, as such. I mean, I skimmed them a little, but they didn't strike me as my thing. * Katie shrugs. "I'll definitely read them now, though." * Satoshi eats and listens. * Kyon smirks. "Not your thing? Middle school and high school girls are in the target audience. Should be your thing." * Kaede tries not to eye the food and instead concentrates on his computer and the conversation. "What got you into writing anyways?" * Katie grins at Kyon. "It looks like you hit your target pretty well." Yeah. There were a lot of them today. [Kaede's browser is unusually slow. :P] * Kaede looks at his computer and mutters. "Why is my browser unusually slow today?" ( 'Cause the GM needs to think ;_; ) * Kyon smiles thinly. "It's not hard to write for them. Comes easily." He looks over at Kaede. "And my mother's an author." (Well duh :P) She's.. * Kaede blinks. "Really?" So it runs in the family? * Kyon nods tersely. "Could say that. She helped teach me style." He smirks. "'course, I worked out my own." Of course. * Katie munches idly. Well, it was probably a help. * Kyon nods quickly. "Yeah. That's the other reason I took a different name. She's pretty well known. Don't want to trade on her name." * Kaede blinks and looks down at the computer, almost slamming his hands on the table but standing up. "I..got it.." * Satoshi nods. "Makes sense." [Kaede finds a small amount of info on the band: a name, a list, and a few notes.] * Satoshi looks at Kaede. "Really?" * Kaede turns the computer around and shows everyone the screen. "See for yourself." [The name of the band is, unsurprisingly, "Arcana".] * Kyon looks over at Kaede's computer and reads the screen. [It consists of seven members. Takeo Kirishima, on bass. Shingo Ryuuzaki, on saxophone. Sumire Himeyama, female singer. Tenjirou Torajima, male singer. Natsuko Kourakuen, drums. Senshiro Hachioji - keyboardest. And Zein Toru, on guitar.] [That last one is obviously not a real name :P] * Katie reads. "Huh." [Five of them are students at Tokugawa Academy. Zein is in college, and Shingo is apparently not in any school.] Interesting... [That's it! ^^] * Kyon reads the names over a couple of times, and finishes his last shrimp. Doesn't seem to say when they're performing though..that's odd... [Actually, it does list a night club they're preforming at. Tonight, in fact.] * Kyon eyes the performance date. "Know what I'm doing tonight." * Kaede blinks and takes a step back. "Well, it doesn't give us much time, but that's at least convenient.." So we're going to check them out? We won't get another opportunity like this, that's for certain.. * Katie nods. * Kaede sits back in his chair and rubs his chin, closing his eyes. * Kyon nods quickly. "I want backup, though. The Band's violent. Should have enough people to deal with a fight, if there is one." So we call Haruko, Taki, Kyoko... who else? * Kaede looks up and scowls a bit. "Hold on. We also don't want them to know we're in there if we can help it." The more we have, the more likely we'll get spotted.. And I'd hope to avoid a fight. I, for one, don't really want to go up against them. They'd kick my ass. * Jin looks up from his food. "Do you need me to beat someone up now?" * Kyon looks down at himself, and shrugs. "So we won't call Sho, but if we show, they're going to notice me, at least." * Kaede frowns. "Not necessarily..but I won't rule out that that may come up..." What if you go in disguise? But... * Katie imagines Kyon with a handlebar moustache and snickers. * Kaede looks at Katie. "I don't know what we're going to do about her...." * Kyon shrugs. "She'd be easier to hide in a crowd." Maybe...but still..we know they think she's Judgement...and I'd like to avoid a brawl if we could. At a nightclub, they probably could easily dismiss it as normal barroom rambunctiousness. * Kaede frowns a little. * Kaede looks at the name of the club again to see how prestigious it is. * Kyon shrugs. "I've fought with a couple of them before. And they know I'm with Sho. Me showing up isn't inconspicuous." [Kaede has never heard of it before.] * Katie takes a bite out of her squid tempura and chews thoughtfully. "I don't have to go." I guess not...but they may be more apt to slip if you're around... It sounds like they feel pretty strong about Judgement at least..but...I wouldn't want Katie to go if it'd put her in danger either... Sounds like you'll all be in danger. * Kaede rubs the bridge of his nose and sighs deeply. "I honestly don't know which is better.." We will, Jin. No denying that... Yes Jin but the less we draw attention to ourselves, the less likely it'll come up.. * Kyon shakes his head tersely. "You should go. We want a reaction from them. It'll be easier to find out why they think you're Judgment if you're there." * Kaede scowls and sits up. "You're using Katie as BAIT?!?" You're going to put her on a fishing rod and... That's not good. We know Shingo dreamed about it... and if Katie doesn't want to go, she shouldn't. * Katie mmms and thinks about that, ignoring Kaede's reaction. Metaphorically, Jin, but that's about right. You're going to do it metaphorically? That's not good, either. * Kyon smirks at Kaede, and shakes his head bemusedly. "No. Not bait. Bait would be throwing her on stage and seeing what they would do." Oh. I don't believe this..I can't believe you can justify that.. What are you suggesting, exactly, Kyon? I thought we just wanted to find Reiji..I don't really care WHY they think... Justice does the justification. * Kyon shrugs. "It's not like I'm not calling in people to protect her. She's not going alone." He smirks more widely. "Don't overreact." * Kaede blinks, suddenly stunned. "Katie..?" * Jin looks at Satoshi. "I'm confused." You're not the only one. * Kyon eats the rest of his rice, and puts down his bowl. "It's simple. We want to know what they know about Judgment. But they're not just going to tell us if we show up and ask nicely." Why not? It'd be nice if they did. * Kaede shakes his head. "I just thought we wanted to find Reiji..I mean sure I'm a little curious, but their own delusions are their own..." Until they start acting on those delusions. * Kyon shakes his head at Jin. "They're not nice people." * Kaede sighs ever so slightly. "That's true...so what do you propose, Kyon?" Oh. * Kyon stretches himself against the wall. "Finding Reiji goes through finding out more about Judgment. So whatever they think, it's useful for us. It's more than I know." There's..obviously something about Judgement we're missing... * Kyon looks over at Katie. "Having her with us is more likely to get them to give us information than if one of you just goes and tries to ask them." I'm less than thrilled about going up against a group of people who are very likely to attack us, but I can't think of any other ways to get this information. There must be some way to detect it... What, like reading their minds or something? * Satoshi laughs. * Kyon shrugs at Kaede. "If there was, wouldn't I have done it by now?" But...the Band has the wrong person, so what use is it really what they know if it could be wrong too..? Are you sure? * Kaede looks at Jin. "Katie's drawn the Page all the time..even YOU said she was the Page of Swords when you approached us." * Kyon shrugs. "Even if who they've identified may be wrong, the rest of their information could be accurate." * Jin nods at Kaede. "Yeah. But are you sure?" It doesn't matter. I don't think of her as a card anyways...or any of us. We're just who we are. I'm Jin. Exactly. * Kyon smirks at Jin. "It doesn't matter, because whether or not she is, it's what they think. So the reaction is the same." * Katie sips her tea and watches the group talk. * Kaede stops talking and just watches Katie back. * Jin looks over at Katie. "How come nobody's asked her?" Katie, who do you feel you are? How do you mean? * Kaede stares at her hard. "Just how I asked." * Katie considers, then shrugs. "I'm me." * Kaede nods a little and smiles just a bit. "There Jin. I asked her." But you didn't ask if she wanted to go or not? If she wants to go, she will. She's her own person, right? * Kaede winks at Katie then leans on his hands, fingers interlaced. Yeah, but you two just kept arguing about her without asking her. It seems silly. * Kyon smirks at Katie. "Sure. We can invite the soccer club captain, too. Bet he's ready to start angling for a date with you by now." * Katie chuckles and has some more rice. It was silly, Jin. Then why do it? Because sometimes people have to be silly. * Katie rolls her eyes. "If that's his way of showing affection, it only proves how sad a person can be." * Jin looks over at Satoshi. "I don't get it." Don't get what? Why people have to be silly. It's odd. It's just a feeling people get sometimes, I guess. * Kyon drinks some tea, then puts it down. "Here, the assumption was that if the rest of us were going, then she'd go, too. But she can back out." We need to call Haruko and Taki... Haruko knows how to use chopsticks. * Kyon smirks. "A skill bound to come in handy in this case." * Katie chuckles. * Kyon eyes Katie. "Plans will have to be different depending on whether or not you go, though. So decide if you're going to." Well, I... * Katie thinks about that. I'll go. * Kaede sips his water carefully, looking over the rim of the glass. You're sure about that? * Katie looks over at Satoshi. "I don't want them to kill me, or try. But we do need to know why, or... well, it could be the key to stopping them later." I can't run forever. * Satoshi nods. Yeah. You're run out of breath and drop eventually. * Katie nods. "Jin's right." And...at least if we all go, we'll all be together..if they continue to think she's Judgement, they could try and get her any time.. So I guess now we need to call in the others. * Kaede sets down his glass carefully. * Kyon nods curtly. "Right. And the position here is strong. We can put seven people to their seven. Not often the numbers match." I'd feel a heck of a lot better if there were more than seven of us to their seven. * Kaede sighs slightly. "Yes. Who else though? Kyoko'd probably rush in if they thought they had anything to do with her brother." We could get eight. Call in Remi. * Katie thinks. "Yumi and Yuji, if they wanted, would make it nine." She shrugs. Remi...but she just got out of the hospital. I wouldn't think of dragging her so soon... She probably has lots of needles in her still. * Satoshi eyes Jin and is very, very quiet. * Kyon shrugs, and looks at Katie thoughtfully. "How about the biker girl and your kendo club captain?" Get *Saki* to work with us? * Katie shudders involuntarily. Only if she thought the drug dealers were involved. Who? * Kaede sighs slightly. "I'd prefer people who we'd be pretty sure wouldn't make an unnecessary commotion...maybe Ryuji but not Saki..." * Kyon shrugs. "She's strong. And she's said before she might be willing to throw in with us. It's an option." People who help you begrudgingly aren't the best help, Kyon... Beggars can't be choosers. I can't say I'd like Saki watching me, though. * Kaede closes his eyes and thinks..then frowns. "What are the chances some..other people found out about this performance too though..?" You mean more Arcana opposing the Band? * Kyon shrugs. "If Sho shows, then there'll be a big fight no matter what. But I don't think he will. And we can't do anything about who else shows. All we can do is bring our people, and be prepared." I'd say it'd be stupid to attack in a public place, but the fields make that a moot point. * Kaede nods slightly. "Maybe not Sho...but Ryo could." * Kyon shrugs. "Again, we can't call him in. Can't control him. Just need to be ready. If we're going, then if other people show, they show." So..I think that makes...one we think we can trust, one we probably can trust but who just got over an ordeal, and two who might be loose cannons..." Aside from the seven of us... * Jin counts. "There's only five of us." Taki and Haruko. And Jin might cause a scene regardless... I'll try... No, Jin. We want you to *avoid* causing a scene if possible. * Kaede looks up and sighs. "No Jin, that's what we DON'T want you to do." Oh. I'll try that, then. Please do. What will you try? * Kaede leans closer to Jin to make sure he's got it. ... I'm not sure. * Kaede looks slowly at Satoshi. "One thing I learned from having a younger sister is always make sure they can repeat what you want them to do.." Thank you. I'll keep that in mind. Now Jin, you're going to try and not cause any commotion or hurt any people unless we say it's okay, okay? * Kyon rolls his eyes at Jin. "If you come with us to the concert, you don't do anything other than enjoy the music unless we tell you to." (We order you to enjoy the music, Jin!) * Kaede nods to Kyon. Ok. So who has Taki's and Haruko's numbers? I'll leave them a message while we decide who else would be good. I do. * Satoshi pulls out his cell phone. "They're in the memory." * Kaede nods and holds out his hand for the cell, figuring it'd be easier. * Satoshi hands Kaede his cell phone. * Kaede walks over to a quiet section away from the table and dials Taki first. * Kyon surveys the others. "I'll get in touch with Kyoko. And try to hunt up the biker girl." * Kaede puts his hand over the receiver and shakes his head. "Are you sure Kyoko wouldn't cause a scene herself though? She didn't seem the most...rational person." * Katie grimaces. "Not Saki." * Kaede perks up at the answer. "Hi Taki, guess you're not there. It's Kaede. We've found some stuff out on the Band and they're playing tonight, pretty late.." * Kaede "Could you meet us at..um.." He puts his hand over the mouthpiece again. "Where should we all meet?" * Kyon smirks. "She's not. But unless Reiji shows up there, she'll be fine. I've worked with her before. Just need to make sure she knows what to do." Outside the club or somewhere nearby it? * Kyon shrugs. "Meet at the station. Easiest for everyone to get to. And I don't want people getting lost." * Kaede nods and goes back to the phone "At the station around 10 o'clock tonight. That'll give us some time to prepare if we still need to. Alright, great. Bye." * Kyon looks back at Katie. "If you want more protection, then call on the people who have the most power. If she's willing to help, we should take it." * Kaede goes to dial Haruko and give her the same message. She might try to *eat* me soon as protect me. ( :9 ) * Kaede walks back to the table and hands Satoshi back his phone. * Satoshi takes the phone. * Kyon gestures for a rice refill, and looks back at Katie. "Look, she's the best and strongest choice we have available. I have to try to find her. Probably won't even be able to, but we should try." * Katie looks down at her tea. "I... but she..." Look, if you're insisting that Katie comes to lure the Band out, you should at least let her decide who'd best protect her. * Kyon shakes his head tersely. "I'm not insisting she come. She decided that on her own." But you don't want her in danger really...do you? * Kaede gives Kyon a hard stare. * Kyon looks back coolly. "I don't want to throw her to the lions. I'm trying to give her the best protection I can. If I have to put an ally in danger, I want safeguards." So, she thinks Saki's a threat. Isn't that enough? It's no good to have a safeguard that would just as likely turn on you than the ones you're trying to safeguard against... * Kyon looks back to Katie. "If you're really afraid that she's going to suddenly try to rip your head off, then fine. But think hard about it, because she is the strongest person I can call on that won't just start a fight with the Band upon arrival." You don't know, Kyon. * Kyon rolls his eyes. "True. For all I know, you're the strongest person I can call on. I can only go from what I know." That's not what I meant. Saki...seems to just beat up a lot of people. If she doesn't like the Band, she very well may start a fight. I meant... I meant you don't know what she did. Or what I saw her do. And you can say whatever you want, but you weren't *there*. * Kaede frowns slightly. "Neither was I...I don't think I really want to know...fully..." * Kyon cocks his head, and nods. "Fine. I don't know what you went through. All I have is a conceptual image of her eating people. I think that's enough to work from. Every time I've dealt with her, she's seemed sane. I'm willing to trust her." Haven't there been other people who've seemed sane at first though and..changed? * Kyon shrugs, and smirks. "Haven't there been other people who've seemed insane at first and changed?" Anyhow, it doesn't really matter. You know Katie's fairly forgiving, Kyon. If she can't forgive Saki for what she saw her do... Yes, but they didn't eat people. Regardless, she's still a good bet. And the chances of finding her, without her number, aren't very high for now. We should try. Otherwise, the front we put up isn't as strong as we can make it. * Kaede slams his hands on the table and stands up. "Dammit Kyon, quit trying to push it. You said it was her choice didn't you?" Besides, we're wasting time on Saki anyhow. * Kyon looks bemusedly at Kaede, then turns his gaze back to Katie. "Right. It's your choice. So you say it. You really can't deal with her there?" I don't know. But... I don't think I can. * Katie hesitates a moment. "I remember Shingo running from Saki." And Ryuji would know about Shingo, too. I saw them talking. I already said we could probably bring Ryuji..do we need both? I'm just saying what happened. * Kaede sighs and stands up, adjusting his glasses. "Then you're just as infuriating as Kyon." * Kyon barks out a hard laugh, then smirks at Katie. "You have your captain's phone number?" * Katie shakes her head. Call Ryuji...he'd probably bring Saki if he thought she'd help anyways. How about the gang girl? Same with Eriko if that's who you mean. None of them, Kyon. * Kaede lets out a deep breath and paces. "If we can't get a hold of them it's a moot point..what about Remi? I wouldn't want to bother her right out of the hospital but..." * Katie hesitates, then, "Chikako or Taro would know, though." * Kyon nods quickly. "Fine. I can call Chikako and try to get it off her." He considers for a second. "Or check the student council records. Captains are supposed to have their information listed." * Katie nods. * Kyon looks at his bowl, and then over the others. "I'll head back to the school quickly and look it up. Can try to hunt them down that way." * Kaede closes his eyes. "Alright..good...but that still leaves Remi. Should we try her too?" * Kyon shakes his head. "If she's not at full strength, then that's one more person to worry about. I'll get Kyoko; that'll at least give us one more person." * Kaede nods quickly and picks up his laptop, folding it up and carrying it under one arm. "Great...I guess I'll see you all at 10 then." [Session End]
