[Day: Tuesday, February 18th. Time: 2:50 p.m.] [Weather: Huge blizzard last night. Luckily, it was only last night and had stopped by morning. It's really cold out.] [Yesterday, you had a snowball fight! Wasn't it fun? Today, school happened as normal, but a bunch of people were absent. Must be the weather. There's lots of snow on the ground.] [Everyone gathers at the usual spot, the giant mushroom in the school's courtyard!... Oh, I mean the lockers.] [Session Start!] * Haruko wanders along the hall, her coat also adorned with a scarf, and a winter hat hanging out of one of her pockets. * Kaede tugs carefully at his gloves, pulling at the fingers looking down the halls. "I'm still amazed they didn't close the school today..." * Satoshi walks up to his locker and pulls out his jacket. Yes, even *he* wore one today. * Haruko shrugs. "It's cold as anything, but still navigable. Would have been nice to have a day off though." * Kaede pulls off one of his gloves and massages life back into his fingers, looking down at them. "I bet the only time they'd give time off is if you couldn't get in the doors for the snow." * Satoshi slips his jacket on, shuts his locker, and waves to Haruko and Kaede. "Hey, guys! Nice weather we're having, isn't it?" * Kaede sighs deeply. "No. We're not going to get any business like this..." * Haruko smiles. "Yeah, definate indoors weather." * Kaede leans his back up against the locker and flips out his notepad, thinking for a moment and looking around. "Anyone seen Katie? I didn't see her in class today..." She probably stayed home. I haven't seen Taki, either. * Kaede frowns slightly, faintly looking at Satoshi. "Yeah..." * Haruko shrugs. "I haven't seen either of them myself." * Kyon turns the corner around the end of the hall near the lockers, and heads down towards them. He's got a pair of dark grey earmuffs around his neck, and ash colored leather gloves on his hands. (Along with the normal leather jacket, and such.) * Kaede closes his eyes and taps his pencil calmly against the top of the notepad. "Hey Kyon." Afternoon, Kyon. * Haruko waves at Kyon. "Not an unreasonable day to skip, particularly if they were snowed in. Taki wasn't feeling too great anyways yesterday." * Satoshi frowns. "Yeah, practice was really hard on her. I feel kinda bad. I know she says I didn't force her into doing anything she didn't want to, but..." * Kaede stays silent, still taptapping the pencil. * Kyon nods curtly back, and looks over the group. "The others too scared of snow to show up?" * Haruko smiles at Satoshi. "I doubt you'd have been willing to work her like that if you knew the effect. She probably knows it too." Sure. You scared them so horribly on the roof they decided they couldn't show their faces today. * Haruko chuckles at Kaede's comment. "And his throw isn't too bad either." * Satoshi looks back at Haruko. "You know, she didn't complain once. Even some of the guys were complaining during practice, but she didn't." * Kyon smirks. "It was only snow. And being hit didn't seem to stop you from coming." * Kaede opens his eyes and looks at what he wrote for a while, replying absently. "I'm different..." [Chikako comes along!] * Satoshi looks over at Kyon. "I'm used to dealing with frozen water. And hey, Chikako." * Kaede frowns and starts to say something but hears the familiar padding down the hall as he looks up. * Haruko raises an eyebrow. "Wow, she's tough. Do be sure to let her know it's alright for her to complain, that you won't be disappointed. Hi Chikako." * Chikako waves a newspaper at everyone (her other hand is full with a stack of 'em). "Hi everyone! We got a lot of snow. Cool, huh?" * Kyon looks down the hall to Chikako, and nods at her more warmly. (What does a warm nod look like? Or did Kyon accidently set his hair on fire? ^_~) (All in the attitude.) * Haruko takes a paper. "Yup, thanks Chikako." * Kaede sighs and shakes his head. "Don't tell me that means you're looking for another snow fight, Chikako..." * Satoshi gets a paper from Chikako. "Thanks. Yeah, lots of snow is neat, although it was near-impossible to get to the rink this morning." * Haruko giggles. "I didn't have much trouble, although I did take a shower to warm up until we ran out of hot water." I've taken enough hits already...and I don't think I can always give as good as I did.. * Kyon holds a hand out for the paper, and shakes his head quickly. He's almost smiling. "Almost nostalgic, though." [The paper doesn't have anything special in it. There's the usual Cherry Blossom Festival reminder, a report on the snow, a report on the book signing (Kyon's real name is kept out), and a list of the top five guys in the school to get the most chocolate. Kaede's number three.] * Chikako grins at Kaede. "Do you wanna? That's so cool!" * Kaede blinks and points at his name in the paper. "This has GOT to be a misprint." * Haruko checks to see if she knows any of the others. * Haruko also takes a moment to smile at Kyon's comment. [Haruko does. Kyon is number one, Ryuji is number two. (Kyon managed to win 'cause he got some from guys :P)] (Like the president of the computer club!) * Satoshi looks at the list and laughs. "Darn, I'm the only one of us who didn't make the top five. I probably came in around... two hundred or so." He grins. * Haruko frowns for a moment and comments under her breath. "Looks like my timing isn't the best." * Chikako grins at Kaede. "Nope! My information is accurate! It's so cool!" [Number four is Ken, who beat number five (Quentin Nagawa) by one chocolate.] * Kaede rubs his forehead and turns bright red, though you can't tell if it's frustration or embarrassment. "Chi-ka-ko..." * Kyon looks over the list, and smirks at Kaede. "Looks like you're newfound popular." * Chikako griiiiiins at Kaede. * Haruko rolls her eyes. * Kyon shrugs, and taps the paper. "Although from the amount I got, this isn't surprising." He scowls. * Chikako waits until Kaede isn't looking, then gives Haruko a thumbs up. The principal actually made number five. He's so cool! * Haruko grins. "That's one word for him." * Satoshi finishes looking at the paper, folds it up, and tucks it into his bag. Well, I gotta run! * Kyon goes to scan the rest of the paper. He reads the book signing article pretty closely. Okay. Later, Chikako! * Haruko scans the paper. "Bye Chikako!" * Chikako waves and dashes off. "Have a fun, cool day!" * Kyon waves tersely from behind the paper. * Kaede shakes his head and keeps his face covered. "How could this happen...?" You underestimated Chikako. That's how it happened. * Haruko sighs. "Don't worry about it Kaede. I'm still puzzled how she kept count though. I assume you didn't tell her the number." I...never estimated Chikako period. No..but.. * Kaede slaps his forehead. "She collected all of it in one box, how could I forget?" See? A logical explanation for everything. * Kaede lets out a deep sigh. "Welll...at least it'll be decent publicity for the Sakura festival..." ( If this were MC, something would happen after Satoshi said that :P ) * Haruko chuckles. "Good thinking." * Satoshi looks slightly pained. "Ah. Yes. That. The idea was presented to the hockey team at practice the other day, and they *loved* it. So, Haruko, how's that heater coming?" What heater? * Kyon nods tersely, and smirks. "You can put it on your sign. #3 chocolate getter in the school wants YOU to buy his bikes." Remember the dunking booth idea, Kaede? * Haruko gives Satoshi a warm grin. "All done, and it's nice and hot too, it'll direct the heat straight towards you but won't be so hot as to be painful." * Kaede looks at Kyon for a moment and almost actually smiles at him. "That...could work." * Satoshi smiles back at Haruko. "Thanks. That'll make things somewhat tolerable. I hope." Oh. Right...you're going to be dunked in THIS weather? * Kyon blinks a couple of times, scowls, and leans against the lockers. Cold doesn't bother me as much as it does most people, and Haruko's heater will keep me warm. * Haruko grins. "I try. Even has protection from splashes, no risk of short circuts. That's true. Some people still swim in this sort of weather too. And I'm sure I can get some of the guys to bring me tea or something if I point out that *they're* not the ones in it. [Funny Kaede should mention that, as Riko comes walking by.] * Haruko laughs. "You might get quicker results by adding 'yet' to the end of that sentence." You're absolutely right, Haruko. I should try that. * Satoshi grins. * Haruko stands over next to Kaede. "So how is the booth coming, any other ideas." * Kaede blinks again and looks up, adjusting his glasses, then taking a glance at Kyon. * Kyon doesn't move off the lockers, but watches Riko coming. * Satoshi eyes Riko. I...um...well, not much. Nanami said she had "something big" planned but she's keeping it a secret. Even from me. * Riko spots Kyon and mostly ignores the lot of you. Until she sees Haruko. * Haruko chuckles. "Should be fun, my offer of help still stands, she can contact me if that would help." That'd..be great. Thanks. * Haruko glances over to Riko. "Hey! Have you met Kaede, we were just talking about the festival." * Kaede 's eyes aren't much leaving Riko as he talks. * Riko comes over to her, casting a glance at Kyon. "Yeah. Hey... Why are you here with Kyon?" * Kaede blinks suddenly and replies in a high voice, suddenly snapped out and turning quick to Haruko. "What? Um.." * Haruko blinks and prays. "Oh, I'm here with Kaede at the moment." * Kaede looks over slowly at Riko. "Yes, well um...hello." He adjusts his glasses a bit. * Satoshi keeps quiet. He knows that Riko's seen him with Kyon several times. * Haruko nudges Kaede, "Com'on, bow, properly introduce yourself." I just normally drop by this spot anyhow. Seems a lot of us meet here.. * Riko replies with a half-hearted "Hi.", barely paying attention. She's staring out of the corner of her eye at Kyon. * Kaede oofs slightly at the nudge and bows deeply, adjusting his glasses with his torso horizontal to the ground. "Hello..." Pleased to meet you. * Kaede slowly stands up, giving her a bit of an odd look before backing back towards the lockers. * Riko eyes Kaede. "Er... what? We've already met." * Kyon jams his hands in his pockets, gloves or no gloves. He eyes Kaede. "You usually introduce yourself to people you already know?" * Haruko then begins to walk off. "Any ways, I'm gonna go talk to Ryuji for a moment. You were certainly right about him, see ya." * Kaede raises an eyebrow. 'Strange. You don't seem to be acknowledging me.." * Haruko walks in a fake casual manner for a few steps, then the main topic on her mind changes and she skips along. * Riko stares after Haruko and frowns. * Satoshi folds his arms and waits. Whatever beef Riko has with Kyon, it's None of His Business. * Riko frowns to herself then looks at Kaede. "So what, you're still hanging out with him?" * Kyon looks from Kaede down to Riko, and smirks. "Didn't know? This is where my allies and I meet. Convenient spot." He flicks a glance sidewise at Kaede. * Kaede shakes his head. "I don't come here to meet with him. I come here to meet with some others of my friends...he just happens to get here too.." * Kaede frowns slightly. "But she's not here today...it's a bit unusual, even if it's snowed in.." I try not to worry. * Riko looks from Kyon to Kaede and back. "Maybe you should meet somewhere else, then." * Satoshi manages to keep from laughing at Kaede's statement. * Kaede adjusts his glasses "Maybe...most of my friends seem to be the stubborn type though." He makes a pointed glance at Riko for a moment before relaxing. Look..if you want to talk to me about it though, I'm free... * Kaede picks himself up off the locker. * Kyon turns and eyes Kaede fully, but doesn't say anything. * Riko shakes her head. "No.... That's fine." She starts towards the door. "I've got a lot to do." * Kaede frowns slightly then shakes his head. "I insist. You seem so concerned that it's only fair to give you a piece of my time..here, I'll come with you for a second." * Kaede turns to the rest of them. "I'll be right back." Um... okay. * Kyon fairly scowls, and watches Kaede go off. He takes his hands out of his pockets and flexes his fingers, and looks down at Satoshi. "Going to tell me you're friends with her too?" I've met her, what, twice before? And both times with you. I doubt she thinks all that highly of me. * Satoshi sighs as he remembers something. He looks up and down the hall to make sure no one else is in earshot. * Kyon nods curtly, and looks back down the hall in the opposite direction of the one they went. He mutters something in Chinese. [Nobody else is x.x] Hey, Kyon? I have a question about the Arcana. More specifically, about our powers. * Kyon turns back and looks down at him. He's still scowling. "What?" How do you know when you've got them all? Because mine still seem to be manifesting... Katie and I confirmed one the other day. * Kyon shrugs. "You don't. You can't really know. Could always be that you have some that you don't realize you have yet." ( Except "Can turn into roast chicken". Don't get that one. ) (Yes, because I don't want Jin to eat me. That's Saki's job. ;p) (Not that I *want* Saki to eat me, mind you. ;p) * Satoshi sighs. "Great. More surprises." ( Hey, I'm a flexible GM. Who DO you want to get eaten by? ) * Kyon finally lets the scowl dissolve into a smirk. "Some of it just takes work. Probing at what you have to see what you might get. Means I can still develop new powers." (Tenjirou. Say Tenjirou. ^^) (...no.) * Satoshi considers. "Trouble is, I have no idea what I might get. The field sensing took me completely by surprise... so did this last one." * Kyon cocks his head and looks down. "Got something new?" Well... more like a confirmation of something that's been gradually building. I've been breaking sticks in practice more and more often... finally, I realized that I was having trouble controlling my strength. Katie and I went to test things out... * Satoshi looks down. "...I ended up lifting an exercise machine." * Kyon raises an eyebrow. "Would seem I was making a good choice for backup before." [Down the hall, Riko grabs Kaede's collar and pushes him against the lockers. Boy, she looks mad.] * Satoshi looks up at Kyon. "Oh, yeah, that's me, the hired muscle." He smiles grimly. "I'd rather not have to use this against anybody unless I really had to..." [She lets go.] * Satoshi sees Riko and Kaede. "Oh, yay. The universe has heard me and decided to make my life even more miserable." * Kyon nods tersely. "Can you control it now?" He glances down the hall to Kaede, and doesn't go down there. I haven't had any problems since then. * Satoshi keeps watching Riko and Kaede. * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "Have you tried since then?" * Riko says something angrily to Kaede and heads off. Not really. But I haven't broken anything accidentally, so it only seems to come into effect when I'm actually trying to exert myself. * Satoshi walks up to Kaede. "Hey, are you all right? * Kaede nods slightly, looking down the hall. "I'm fine, I'm fine.." * Kaede rubs his shoulder and winces. "Ow..." You sure? * Kyon doesn't go down the hall to Kaede now, either. He watches from his spot by the lockers. * Haruko skips along down the hallway, her grin, somehow, manages to be about twice its usual size. * Kaede slowly cracks a weak smile, looking up just as slow. "Yeah...my pride's a bit more wounded though..." Pride recovers. Most of the time, anyway. Should I ask why she got so mad? Talk didn't go quite as well as I'd hoped...though I suppose you know that. * Kaede shakes his head. "I'm sure you can guess the subject." * Satoshi looks down the hall at Kyon. "Yep." Why's she hate him so much, anyway? * Haruko keeps skipping and meets up with the group. "Not to interupt, but any one know a classy Teriyaki place?" It's...hard to say. * Kaede holds his right shoulder and picks himself back up. "I'm afraid not. I'm sorry, Haruko." * Satoshi blinks at Haruko, completely caught off-guard. "Uhh... not really." What's got you so excited, Haruko? You sure left in a hurry. * Haruko holds up the paper. "#2" * Satoshi actually *gets* something for once. "What, you and Ryuji? Wow... congratulations?" * Kaede peers at the paper. "Ryuji? What about him?" My choice of the lot, no offense Kyon and Kaede. ::beam:: Thanks Satoshi, but it's only a first date, we're not a couple. * Kaede looks at Satoshi for a second and blinks, then at Haruko and blinks again, pointing out wide-eyed. "Wait...you...and him...?" * Haruko grins and nod nods. Well, you shouldn't worry about me. I'm not really dateable material..but... * Satoshi considers. "You know... I've never actually gone anywhere with Taki where it's been just the two of us." * Kaede rubs his forehead, eyes closed. "Wow. Never would have thought." * Haruko looks quizically at Kaede. "Ooh? Why not, he seems nice enough." I just mean...well, I never pictured you going out with anyone either... * Haruko smiles over at Satoshi. "If the first date goes well, we can double date later." * Haruko chuckles. "Fair enough. but I do like guys, they just aren't my first love." * Satoshi grins. "Thanks. I think Taki would probably like it. Well, I hope she would, at least." It's nothing particular about Ryuji...you just seem...I don't know how to put it. Even-handed maybe. Like you wouldn't settle for just one person." * Kyon bends down, picks up his bag, and stalks off. * Haruko raises an eyebrow and giggles. Hey, they're just going on a date, Kaede. They're not running of to elope or anything. * Kaede falters a bit to his knees and winces more at his shoulder. "I think she slammed me harder than I realized..." * Satoshi eyes Haruko mock-sternly. "You *aren't* going off to elope, right?" * Haruko continues to giggle and rolls her eyes. "Wait, what happened, are you hurt Kaede?" * Satoshi blinks at Kaede. "Oh, man, Kaede... should we take you somewhere to get that looked at?" * Satoshi kneels down next to him. * Haruko sits down next to Kaede and tenatively puts her hand on his shoulder. I...don't know. I think I should be fine. I'd think with Nanami though, I'd be toughened up more than that... * Kaede closes his eyes and takes a deep long breath. Is anyone watching..? * Satoshi looks up and down the hall. "Nope, nobody here. We must've bored Kyon, 'cause he's gone too." * Haruko invokes her healing powers and very carefully rubs Kaede's shoulder. "If this doesn't help I can get some ice. Lots of it outside I'll bet." * Kaede pulls one arm out of his jacket and uniform, baring his shoulder. * Kaede nods slightly. "I wish she was more reasonable though..." * Haruko keeps working. "What happened?" She must *really* hate Kyon and anybody who has anything to do with him. Well...I kind of told her...she was acting like him... * Kaede grins sheepishly. * Satoshi puts a hand to his forehead. Kaede... that was *not* a good move. That ranks very highly in the Annals of Bad Moves. I was just trying to get her to snap out of this blind hatred she had...I'm..not sure how effective it was. * Haruko chuckles. "Yup, perhaps you made number three again." Anyways, it was true...I try not to say anything that isn't true... * Haruko shrugs, "I don't think this is doing any good. If it still hurts, I'll get some ice." * Kaede shakes his head. "I'll be fine. Thanks Haruko." * Kaede puts his arm back in the sleeve. * Haruko nods and stands up. * Satoshi sighs and stands up. "So, what now?" I suppose we could always search for a classy Teriyaki restaurant... * Haruko glances around for anyone else, including Kyon. "That'd be great! But one bit of Arcana business first." * Kaede stands up slowly and carefully and resets his glasses. Yeah, there's something you guys should know, too. * Kaede turns solemnly towards Haruko. "Which bit? We have a lot." I've told Katie and Kyon this on dance night, forgot to tell you guys yesterday. Oh, do you want to go first Satoshi? You can go first. * Haruko nods. "If the reading about Reiji wasn't refering to the my relationship to the band, I may have figured out what I can do to help find it, it's hard to say..." What's that? * Haruko bites her lip. "The trouble is, I was sworn to keep most of the details secret to get the information. I don't see how it relates to Reiji, but it came to me specifically so who knows." * Satoshi smiles. "I'm not gonna ask for any of your secrets, Haruko." Any hints you can give us on what it has to deal with...? Just tell us what you can. My next step would be to gather more information, I doubt anything will happen until after that, and with that information I can probably figure out more. * Kaede looks at Satoshi for a minute and blushes a bit at his own comment compared to his. "I'm sorry..I didn't mean to be forward.." * Haruko smiles. "Nothing to be ashamed of Kaede, it's not really my secret. ::Haruko paces a bit:: I'm not sure how to keep my word and look after everyones interests, hopefully the next phase will be easier." * Kaede frowns slightly and repeats it to himself. "...Keep your word..." I've heard about another, kind of missing, person... * Satoshi nods. "Do what you think is right. I think anything you could do would probably help us." * Kaede 's eyes flick over Haruko's for a second. "Oh..?" * Haruko nods. "Yup, fortunately, near as I can tell, there isn't any immediate risk originating from this one. Don't see how it would involve Judgment, but I don't see how it involves Reiji either." Haruko shrugs again. A Judgement victim or something el...hmm.. Maybe... Sho maybe...? Huh. Well, no immediate risk is good. * Kaede rubs his chin and laughs. "That came out of nowhere. I'm being silly..." Yeah. I'm not going to pursue it unless everyone thinks its a good idea. There may be a connection to one of our pasts, but that's as much detail as I can give. * Haruko smiles at Kaede. "I don't know, that's as good of a guess as any." Right...guess...so what's your news, Satoshi? * Satoshi sighs. "Yeah. Well, the other day... day before yesterday, I guess... Katie and I confirmed a new power of mine. Lately, I've been having trouble controlling my strength... at least in hockey practice." So I started lifting stuff... ended up picking up an exercise machine. Trouble controlling your strength? What do you mean? * Haruko nods. "Huh? Oh, and pass what I said on to Katie, Taki, and Kyon if you see them before I, they don't have the details you do." You...what? * Haruko widesn her eyes. "Wow!" I lifted it, Kaede. Took some effort, but I did it. * Haruko giggles. "So, I now have someone to call if I need to life a car and the jack isn't working." * Kaede rubs between his eyes. "I feel sort of useless, without any powers and all...unless you count the weird coincidence of me burning a meal for the first time in years. * Satoshi chuckles. "I probably couldn't lift the whole car, but I could probably do what you needed." And I can't see that being an all too special power. * Haruko tilts her head and loks at Kaede. "Don't think that counts, did it happen in a special way?" * Haruko smiles at Satoshi's response. * Kaede chuckles slightly. "Well, it happened at Taki's place. Maybe she has a cursed kitchen or something..." I'm sure you've got something, Kaede. I didn't start feeling anything until I first met Katie and the others... * Satoshi blinks. "You were cooking dinner at Taki's?" * Haruko blinks too. * Kaede stops suddenly, cursing himself mentally. "Well...yeah. I had some things I needed to get off my mind..for some reason she was the first one that came to mind. I just wanted to pay her back for disturbing her..." * Kaede frowns. "Now that I think about it though...that IS something strange..." * Satoshi frowns slightly. "Some things?" * Haruko tilts her head and sits down. * Kaede looks up at Satoshi for a second, then grimaces a bit. "It's nothing really. I've talked more with Katie but I don't know her phone number." Come to think of it though, I don't remember how I got Taki's. Could be that it was on something one of us gave you? And if you want Katie's, I have it. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if I gave it to you. Could be. Could you Satoshi? That'd be great! * Haruko looks puzzled. "That's not the first time, it happened once with Jin, right?" * Satoshi laughs a little. "Yeah, sure. So what was strange?" I was just meaning about the phone number. It's not like it was something I'd commit to memory, even if I DID have it written down on something. * Satoshi pulls out his cell phone and goes through the directory. * Kaede looks at the cell phone and blinks, rubbing his head. Maybe you've got a good memory for this sort of thing. Or maybe you and Taki have been sneaking around behind my back and haven't told me yet. * Satoshi mock-glares at Kaede. Who's Hikaru Akimoto? You are, after all, the third-most popular guy in the school. I'm completely unranked. * Haruko laughs. Oh, Hikaru's on the hockey team. He's assistant captain. * Kaede looks up slightly, then rubs his head. "Okay..." Nice guy. Great defenseman. Did I call up the wrong number? I guess you're right..good memory. No..I don't..think so. * Kaede looks at the phone slightly and takes out his notepad, writing down the number. "Thanks.." No problem. How'd you see Hikaru's number, though? * Kaede leans back against the locker slightly for support. Hikaru's number? I don't know... * Kyon turns the corner at the end of the hall. He looks over the group, his eyes glimmering. Then he heads down towards them. * Haruko blinks and grins. "Not so powerless after all." * Satoshi laughs. "Yeah. Kaede's Arcana power is innate control over phone systems." Wonderful...how useful. You could have a wonderful career as an operator. * Kaede starts to stand up, then falters. * Haruko shrugs. "If Katie gets more mysterious calls, it could be helpful." But you said you didn't know how you got to Taki's... * Satoshi eyes Kaede. "You sure you don't want to get that looked at?" Yeah...I'm fine..really... * Kyon arrives, and looks down at Kaede. "You find something out?" * Satoshi shakes his head. "Oh, now you're starting to sound like Shingo. The illusionary one, I mean." Never met him. I think I sound like me though. * Kaede looks up at Kyon. "I...don't think so." I must have just seen them somewhere, that's all. Weird that the name would come to mind now though..but my memory's always been a little funny. Maybe you should program another number in the phone Satoshi, a fake one. * Kyon snorts, and looks sidewise at Haruko. "Fine. What did he do?" * Satoshi shrugs. "Sure. Or we could see if he comes up with somebody else on the team." * Satoshi looks at Kaede. "You mind testing this out?" We aren't sure yet... I'm a bit confused myself. * Kaede shakes his head a bit. * Satoshi hands his cell phone to Kaede. "Okay. Um... anybody else's name or number come to mind?" And no cheating by pushing buttons. * Satoshi grins. * Kaede looks at the cell for a minute. "You take all the fun out of it." Oh, sure, that's me. No fun at all. * Haruko chuckles. * Haruko watches Kaede, with a curious expression on her face. So. Are the secrets of my cell phone divulging themselves? * Kyon looks down at Kaede coolly, and jams his hands back in his pockets, waiting. * Kaede looks at the phone and squints a bit. "Nope. Nothing." Maybe it only works when you're not trying to do it. Or it's just a fluke and I really did see them somewhere. Do you have my number in that phone Satoshi? * Kyon shakes his head tersely, and looks away down the hall. "What did you do the first time?" * Satoshi checks the directory. "Yep. You used it to call home one day, so I just kept it in there... I figured you probably wouldn't mind." First time? What first time? * Haruko nods. "Correct. Alright, try to dial my number, don't think about it, just do it." All right. * Satoshi dials Haruko's number. [Nobody home.] * Kyon blows out a breath, and says with exaggerated patience, "What did you do while I was gone that they were testing you on?" I just mentioned the name of someone on the hockey team. Nothing special. Alright, Kyon's line of questioning might work, if it doesn't Kaede try to call my house without looking up the number or hitting redial. I was giving him Katie's phone number and he asked who Hikaru Akimoto was. I've got Hikaru's number in here, and it seems like he found that somehow, even though I didn't bring it up. He also mentioned calling Taki without knowing her number, and getting to Taki's place but not being sure how. Right Kaede? * Kaede shakes his head. "Not the second part. She told me how to get there on the phone." * Haruko nods. "Oh, I misunderstood something you said then, sorry." * Kyon looks down at Kaede sidewise. "So you picked some information out of thin air. Nice trick." He nods curtly. "Try doing it again. And don't think you can't." * Kaede sighs slightly. "I'm not saying it might not happen. But it might not if I actually TRY to do it, like they said.." * Satoshi stuffs his cell phone back in his pocket. * Kaede closes his eyes. "Let me think.." * Kyon shrugs disinterestedly. "Then don't try. Just do it." * Haruko glances over to Kyon as Kaede works his magic. "You know a classy Teriyaki place? I've got a date to impress." * Kyon nods, and smirks. "What part of Tokyo do you want to be in?" * Haruko shrugs and mentions her neighborhood. "Somewhere convient to me and Ryuji, easy to get to by the subway, unless he has a vehicle." She says the last part a bit hopefully. * Kaede shakes his head. "Nothing." * Kyon rolls his shoulders. "I don't know where you live, or where he lives, so I don't know where's convenient." * Satoshi pulls out the newspaper, just to make sure Hikaru wasn't mentioned in that and we're not totally chasing the wrong thing here. [There is no mention of Hikaru. He didn't get enough chocolates.] * Satoshi puts the paper back. "Well, Hikaru wasn't mentioned in here. You sure he didn't come to your bike shop or anything, Kaede?" * Kyon shrugs, and thinks very briefly. "Yotsuya. Good food, nice atmosphere, prices aren't too high for you, not run by one of those clone-like guys." * Haruko grins. "Great! Thanks Kyon." ( Which is unfortunate. The Xguys make the best food :P ) * Haruko takes out a notebook from her bag and jots down directions to the place if Kyon will give them. * Kyon nods curtly, and tugs out his cell phone as he gives directions. He pokes a couple of buttons idly. * Kaede shrugs. "It could be." Has anything else weird happened to you lately? Aside from burning food and knowing people's phone numbers? And why did you mention the burning food? Did it happen in an unusual way? * Kyon looks down at Kaede again. "What's the burnt food about?" * Kaede shakes his head. "It's nothing really...it just came up." * Satoshi ponders. "Was it an electric stove, or was it gas-powered?" * Kaede laughs nervously. "I have no idea. All I know is she talks about her father burning things all the time too." Yeah, but he really can't cook, and it sounds like you can. * Satoshi shrugs. "I dunno. This could all just be some weird coincidence. I was just wondering if it had to do with electricity or something." * Kyon smirks. "Maybe it's something in the air at her house." He flips the phone closed, and tosses it at Kaede's chest. "Don't think. What's the number?" * Kaede catches it carefully and looks at the phone. [The phone dials.] * Kaede looks at the cell oddly. "That's weird..." * Kaede hands the phone back over to Kyon. "Who did I dial then?" [There's no answer on the other end.] * Kyon looks at Kaede sidewise. "You didn't hit anything, and it dialed. Say hi to Kyoko for me." * Kaede puts the phone to his ear. "There's nothing though..." He speaks into it. "Hello?" [No answer] * Kyon shrugs. "Answer or not, you still did it." * Kaede looks at the phone for a moment then flips it closed. "Yeah..." * Haruko looks impressed. So... what, phones behave randomly when Kaede's around? And maybe stoves? * Kaede holds out the phone for Kyon. And maybe other stuff? * Kaede just looks stunned, not answering. * Kyon takes back the phone. "Maybe computers." Kaede? You okay? * Haruko walks around Kaede, examining him. "Maybe he gives off magnetic fields, probably just magic though." I...yeah...I'll be fine. Has anything else weird happened around you lately? Well...the television also turned on at Taki's place...she said it happens a lot with the earthquakes though... * Kaede 's gaze still hasn't moved, nor has his arm. How about your laptop? It do anything unusual? No...besides be the best damned laptop on the market... * Haruko has finished her examination and grabs a paperclip from her bag. * Kyon cocks his head, and looks down at Kaede. "For all your problems with money, how did you get the 'best damned laptop on the market?'" * Haruko holds the paper clip loose around Kaede. * Kaede looks at Kyon for a second. "How did I..? Well...um..." [Kaede does not seem to be magnetic.] * Kaede blushes a bit and suddenly snaps out of it out of the embarrassment. "I..built it." Really? Cool. * Haruko shrugs and puts away the paper clip. "Wow, nice." * Kyon nods curtly. "Right. Why did you need the best one on the market?" Because...well, I don't know. It just seemed like the right thing to do. I assume you bought most of the parts. Or did you put together the circutry for the satellite uplink yourself? Well...I...um... I can't remember how I got the uplink honestly. It's just sort of...always been there... You're communicating with a *satellite*? * Haruko stares at Kaede with wide eyes. "When I get a bike, we're going to have a talk about an onboard navigation system." Well, it's more of an indirect line I think. It goes by remote to a hub in my kaban. That kind of sends a single up. There's not really any other way to connect a laptop to the internet.. Well, there is. But actually having a line defeats the purpose. As for the parts...well, I just sort of started with the old one my father got me a while ago and worked from there... * Kaede blushes again and looks away. "Katie told me everyone needed a hobby. Guess that's mine." Hey, I think that's pretty interesting. I'm impressed. * Haruko keeps her eyes wide. "Customizing a laptop without using factory built parts. Either you have some sort of power, or you're amazingly good. Probably both." * Kyon nods again, and turns sharply on his heel to lean against the wall. "So. You have a great computer, without knowing how all the pieces got in it. You can make electronics work without hitting the buttons. I'd say it's a power more than talent." Oh no, it's nothing like that..it's just.. * Kaede rubs his forehead a bit. "This really is too much for me. Ugh.." * Haruko grins widely at Keade, "There really are more things on heaven and earth than are accounted for in your philosphy, poor boy." * Kyon shakes his head curtly, and swears in Chinese. "Just accept it. It's the right explanation." Don't start with Shakespeare on me... * Kaede groans and leans against the locker, feeling his forehead more. * Haruko laughs. "I actually paid attention in my foreign lit class. You should be encouraging me." Well, we've already figured I'm the brawn of this operation. Somebody has to be the brains. * Kaede closes his eyes. "If that's me, we're doomed." * Kyon smirks. "I'm the brains. Someone needs to be the tech." If HE's the brains, we're even more doomed. I vote for Katie. * Satoshi grins. "Right. You guys do the thinking and build stuff, and I'll just smash what you tell me to smash." * Haruko smiles. "Works for me!" * Kyon shakes his head bemusedly. "Been doing this for a long time, and my plans have worked out well enough." He shrugs, and turns to look at Haruko, his gaze cooling off. "Need to tell me how you know that swimmer girl, though." We've talked before, we go to the same school. She's not a friend of mine, but I thought it'd be best to preserve the relationship by not associating myself with you. * Kaede looks up carefully. "Actually Kyon, I haven't seen you plan much of anything, especially not lately..." * Haruko glances up to Kyon, "From what I've seen of her, she isn't actually a threat to you, she'd just like to be." * Haruko watches Kyon, waiting for a response. * Kaede looks off to the side down the hallway, taking out his pad and letting a deep breath, glad the subject's turned from him. * Kyon looks down at Haruko. "Whether or not she's a threat at the moment isn't important. She's an enemy. And she's doing it for someone else's benefit. Whoever that is could be much stronger." He runs a hand through his hair, and his gaze turns cool. "What are you getting out of it?" * Satoshi folds his arms and listens. * Kaede taps his notebook, not looking. "So people who hate you are all enemies, is that what you think?" * Haruko blinks. "Nothing at the moment. If it's important to you, I won't associate with her. But if someone is manipulating her, than I'm going to have an easier time figuring out who if she's willing to talk to me." * Kyon smirks at Kaede. "People who run through walls of fire and throw large men out of the way so they can attack me are enemies." * Satoshi blinks. "Wait, when was this?" * Haruko gives a slight smile. "Fair enough." So what do you consider an ally? You call a lot of people allies and enemies, but I have no idea how it can be split so black and white... Do you have anyone outside that or is the world just for you or against you? * Kyon looks sidewise at Satoshi. "First time I met her. She went through the Moon's fire wall, and threw the Knight of Wands aside to get at me." Oh, that's fun. Wait a sec... she *threw* Jiro? * Kyon nods curtly. "Kicked him out of the way." So... she studies martial arts? * Haruko raises an eyebrow to the tossing of Jiro. "That's impressive. Any ways, she's not an ally of mine and you are. So since she is an enemy of yours I will accept your judgment on this." * Kyon turns back to looking at Haruko. "You think you can get something useful out of dealing with her?" * Kyon shrugs disinterestedly at Satoshi's question. "Seems that way." * Satoshi considers this. [Kaede gets a phone call and walks off to deal with it in private.] * Haruko shrugs and then pauses to think for a moment. "I think it's possible, and there aren't any real drawbacks as I see it. If you are ever actually in danger, then I'll back you in a second." * Kyon draws himself up against the locker. "Right. I want you to tell me everything that you think would help me that you get from her. Who's backing her, why she's doing it. And I want you to let me know when you talk with her. Just to keep track." * Haruko blinks and closes her eyes. "Let me think for a moment." * Haruko continues to ponder, she may be at this for a minute, so don't hold conversation on her account. * Satoshi really doensn't have anything to say at the moment. * Kyon looks irritatedly at Haruko, then turns to Satoshi and smirks. "Everybody seems to be tossing out powers today. Got any others?" Aside from the heavy lifting? Nope. * Haruko stands up, opens her eyes, and looks at Kyon her tone is calm and while her words are obviously careful choosen, her voice doesn't elie any deeper meaning. "I don't like being leashed and I'm not effective without discretion. To learn anything from her, I need to earn her trust, and I can't do that while reporting everything immediately to you. If you need that much oversight, I'd rather just not deal with her." * Kyon turns back from Satoshi, and his smirk widens. "You're one to say that you don't like being leashed." * Haruko blushes a bit. "Jin has no discretion." * Kyon lets his smirk fade. "I don't need you to tell me what she's eating for breakfast. But I do want to know information that is pertinent to who's backing her. Not knowing could come back to bite me." * Haruko regains her composure and leans against a locker and closes her eyes again. "I know what you meant, and I'm happy to promise to look after your interest, and tell you when I find her backer or any other information that you'd need immediately. But beyond that you'd have to trust me. Your call." * Kyon looks down at her warily, then shrugs. "Whatever. Give me what I need, then do what you want." I can't help you out here. She's only ever seen me with you, Kyon, so in her mind the two of us are allies, if nothing else. * Haruko nods. "You'll get what you need. At the moment, I don't know of anyone actively manipulating her against you. If that changes you'll have that information, even if it requires losing any trust I have with her." * Haruko frowns. "I don't like these situations, that's why I made such a point of establishing my friendship with Katie to the Band." * Kyon snorts. "Not that that wasn't dangerous." He jams his hands in his pockets, and looks down sidewise at Haruko. "You know anything good from her now?" * Haruko laughs. "It was a worthwhile risk, I only said it once I had a read on them and we got most of the information we wanted, if I couldn't get away with it, I wouldn't have said it." * Kyon snorts. "Right. Of course, there was the one girl who never said much, and the really hot-tempered one. But at least they couldn't have squished you, with us there." He cocks his head. "And that was only half the question." * Haruko frowns slightly, but it quckly leaves her face. "I also wouldn't have said it if you guys weren't there. Right, the other part...." She's a martial artist, apparently a fairly good one.... She dislikes you with a passion and warns people against trusting you... She has to be, if she took out Jiro. She goes for bishonen guys, actually it was her mentions of Ryuji along with our involvement with him, that helped me pay attention to him. * Kyon waves a hand curtly. "So some obvious stuff and romance tips. That all for now?" Not yet, she cites your use of a sword and her scars as a reason not to trust you, she has another reason, but she doesn't give any other concrete examples of your supposed untrustworthiness. And she'll go to the principal if she feels attacked by you, but she hasn't gone from the first fight, 'cause she started it. That's all for now. * Kyon smirks. "If she's going to attack me, she's got to be prepared for a response. Not using everything at your disposal is the road to defeat." * Haruko shrugs. "She has some idea of acceptable fighting in her mind. With what you did crossing the line. She lives in a far less dangerous world than you do." * Kyon shrugs. "I didn't ask her to join me here. She threw herself in. What, she saw me with the sword and thought it was for show?" He snorts. * Haruko shrugs. What, she's expecting you to suddenly show remorse for what you did and not defend yourself? Oh, one last thing, nothing she said made me question our alliance. * Kyon scowls. "She didn't tell me what she thought I did." He looks down at Haruko. "She tell you?" * Kyon nods tersely, and waves a hand. "Can't imagine that she could." * Haruko smiles. "Good, thanks for your trust, but like I said, that's all I got for now. More later, hopefully." * Kyon shrugs. "Right. See if you can find out. Good information to have." * Haruko closes her eyes again, and plays with her hair. She nods in response to Kyon's comment. * Kyon looks off down the hall in the direction Kaede went, and mutters something in Chinese, then switches back to Japanese. "Day of new disclosures." * Satoshi sighs. "Yep. * Haruko smiles as some of the warmth returns to her face, she opens her eyes. "Not such a bad day all in all, although I have a unique reason to be happy." * Haruko grins contentedly to herself, and spaces out a bit. * Satoshi smiles at Haruko, then stretches. "So, anything else for now?" * Haruko slowly shakes her head and her attention stays elsewhere. [Session End]
