[Day: Saturday, March 1st. Time: 12:00 p.m.] [Weather: Sunny, and surprisingly warm. Or at least, warmer than it's been.] [It's festival day! So far, things have been pretty good! How will the rest of the day be? We open at the mechanic club's stand, with Haruko.] [Session Start!] * Haruko stands behind her booth, she's wearing a light blue pair of coveralls that looks rececntly washed even though there are still a few stains. She's also wearing a hint of make up and her hair is in good form. Strangely enough it's not an incongrous look for her. Show your skill! Race little cars. Crash other little cars then fix them and crash them again! Join the mechanics club! (I like her sales pitch.) * Haruko tries to make eye contact with passers bye and calls out to them with great enthusiasm. [Haruko calls in a good number of people. Unsurprisingly, mostly boys.] * Haruko grins. "Hello boys." She gestures to the stand in front of her wear a fair number of remotes lie. "We have RC racing and a little demolition derby, take your pick." [They split about half and half.] [Behind the stand is a little race course made of boxes and various other lying around items, including what looks to be an old engine. The other part is a small arena with a fair number of damaged looking little RC cars.] [Oddly, a girl approaches Haruko, too! Not oddly, it's Riko.] * Riko waves to Haruko. "Hey." * Haruko startts regaling the boys with details of when the club meets and complimenting their style as appropriate. SHe then looks up and waves. "Hi Riko!" * Riko looks over the crowd. "Looks like you're doing well." * Haruko grins. "Yup, wanna play? I see you as a demolition derby type if I don't miss my guess." * Haruko then regales the boys with more bits about the mechanics club, including competition and free snacks. Guess I could take a crack at it. * Haruko hands a remote, to one of the better looking cars, over to Riko. * Riko smiles. "Thanks." * Haruko then idly comments to the boys. "Nothing more attractive than having a great motorcylce and knowing how to get superior performance out of it." * Riko chuckles. "You seem pretty popular here, too. * Haruko follows up. "Although, for those with less funds.. there's always bicycles, which can be alluring as well, there even seems to be a stand over there where advertising a student run store." * Haruko looks over to Riko and shrugs, smiling. "That list I gave you help any?" (Awww...a plug, how sweet ^_^) ( Some plug. "Yeah, poor people, go buy bikes" :P ) (It's better than nothing :P) A little. I haven't really talked to anyone yet, but... * Riko pauses for a second, then asks. "Did you... manage to find out anything more about my cousin?" * Haruko nods. "Don't let me push you, some of them are really great guys but there's nothing wrong with being single. More time to go to mechanic's club meetings or supporting other students, like ones that own bicycle shops." Last bit was to the boys. * Haruko looks at Riko and lowers her voicee. "I verified that she talked to who the rumor said she'd been seen with. But that was apparently a while ago. If you like I can keep digging, I have a few other resources." * Haruko glances at the current race winner car and then gives him a congratulatory smile. She then watches the demolition derby while Riko thinks of a response. * Riko nods. "I'd appreciate it if you could. Thanks." She smiles. Would you like me to run it by Kaede? I think you've met, and he's a really effective web searcher. * Riko makes a face. "That guy?" * Haruko notices a broken RC car, gives the player a new remote, and sets about fixing it with a flair. * Haruko shrugs and smiles slightly. "He does have that effect on people, but he's trustworthy and skilled. Up to you." 2d6-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6-6) and gets 0. Can you do it without him knowing it's from me? That guy... he just rubs me the wrong way. * Riko participates in the derby, meanwhile. * Haruko giggles slightly and speaks in a rather low voice. "As you like. I'm working on the rubbing people the wrong way, but not much luck so far. Still he's not a bad guy, just a little socially awkward at times." * Haruko puts the newly repaired car back in the arena and plays with it herself for a bit. Can't leave it in pristine condition after all. You could say that again. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Haruko (2d6-2) and gets 4. * Riko checks her watch. "Hmm. I'd better get back. Karate club's about to give a demo." * Haruko smiles. "Thanks for stopping by, if you ever want to know anything mechanical just tell me. I'll get on that thing you ask me." * Haruko waves then turn back to the boys, controlling her car without really watching. She selectively metes out personalized praise, concentrating on the more skilled prospects. * Riko nods. "Will do. Thanks." She gets up and heads away. * Haruko gives one more comment to the boys. "And remember to visit the bicycle stand and the karate stand and the hockey stand when your done here!" * Haruko then frowns as she ponders whether Satoshi in fact wants more vistors. ( Let's find out! ) ( No, no, I'm doing fine on my own, thanks... damn. ;p) (We need money and players, send as many people down as you can!) [Meanwhile, at the hockey team's dunk tank... Time: 2:00 p.m.] * Taki stands a little in front of the booth, she's dressed in a pair of black jeans and a blue jacket, she has a bambo umbrella in one hand and she's gesturing at Satoshi every now and then as she tries to bring people in. Step right up and take a shot at our star hocky player! We fear no cold! * Satoshi is sitting in the dunk tank. He's absolutely *soaked.* His hair is plastered to his head, his black t-shirt is stuck to his chest (some girls may like that) and his black swim trunks are totally wet. Three shots per person! You know you wanna dunk him! * Satoshi looks rather resigned to his fate at this point, and tries to wave as cheerfully as he can to the crowd. Come to the hockey club! No one else would dream of this! No other club COULD do this! * Satoshi mutters. "No other club has a captain dumb enough to be talked into this." [Amongst the interested people, Jin comes up to Taki.] I want to dunk him. ( Jin, if you dunk me, no chicken for you. ;p) Then you've come to the right place Jin, just give...do you have any money? Umm.... Ehh, let him have a free round, Taki. I can pay you for it later. Although I'm thinking I'm going to regret this... * Jin looks over at Satoshi. "Do I have any money?" Actualy I was going to pay for him, but if you're going to insist I won't stop you. Don't worry about it, Jin. We're covering for you. Okay. * Satoshi grins. "Set him up, Taki. I wanna see how well he can do." Yep, just step up to the line over there...::points with the folded umbrella:: take the three balls from Hikaru and throw them at the target! It couldn't be simpler. Um... Okay. * Jin walks over to the line, then looks around for Hikaru. Nevermind that he's standing right there. Hikaru gives him the three balls and then he waits. "... Now what?" Oh... Throw them. Right. * Taki opens her umbrella, "Right!" C'mon, Jin, give me your best shot! I can take it! Are you sure? Just hit the target! I've been doing this all day long! I can take it! * Jin shrugs and tosses one at the target. It hits dead on, and Satoshi gets dunked. Wah! Woo! Congrats Jin! * Satoshi comes up sputtering, then laughs. "Nice shot! But let's see you do that again!" * Satoshi climbs back up onto the seat. * Jin shrugs. He throws another one and... dunks Satoshi again. * Satoshi falls into the water again. Splash! * Satoshi gets back up. "Okay... I'll bet you can't go three for three." * Taki aplauds, "I'd reccomend you to the baseball team." Are you sure? (New pitcher!) Try it! Okay. * Taki nods, "And you've got one more shot." * Jin tosses the third ball, and dunks Satoshi again. * Satoshi falls into the water yet again. Sploosh! * Jin looks over at Taki. "Why did I want to do that?" * Satoshi comes up and shakes his head. "Man, you really are good." I am? Yep. Got me all three times. Because you're good at throwing things, but if you don't like baseball you don't have to. I think that's the first time today. I've lost count. After the first few times, it all runs together. Okay... * Taki closes her umbrella and turns to the crowd, "Three for three! Is there anybody else here who thinks they can do it?" If you can... Or even if you can't, step right up and take a shot! * Jin steps up to Taki. "I think I can... maybe." * Taki looks at Jin, "I know you can, but since you just went, if there's anybody else who wants to take a try at it, we should let them go first. It's only fair." It is? Okay... * Satoshi climbs back up onto the seat, shaking his head again. Not that it matters much at this point - it's not like he can get any more wet. ;p So...Is there anybody else? Or are you going to stand here and watch one person? [A girl walks up to Taki. She's wearing a pretty dress, and her red hair is done in French curls. She laughs as she walks. "Ohohoho! I, Takako Matsumura, will take the challenge! For someone with my grace, it will be utterly easy." There's two other girls flanking her left and right, but they're not important; I'm not gonna describe them.] * Taki nods at Takako, "Then step up to the line." And we will watch with awe. * Takako does just that, smirking confidently all the way. * Taki opens her umbrella again. * Takako takes the balls and tosses one, missing by a mile. Ooh, so close, Maybe the ball was wet. Don't worry about it, you've got two more shots! Yes, that must be it. * Takako throws another one, missing by a mile in the opposite direction. Keep trying, I know you can do it! * Takako throws the third one; it falls short of the target. * Takako growls and stamps her foot. "Oooh! This is rigged! The balls are all off balance!" I'm not sticking around at this inferior booth one second longer! I'm sorry you think that, and have a nice day. * Takako turns on her heal and leaves, holding her nose to the sky. "Hmph!" * Taki starts to close her umbrella and stops to look around for Jin. Ahh, well. Can't win 'em all. [Jin is right there.] Look at it this way, it's a chance for you to warm up, how are you doing in there anyway? I'm doing okay. After a while, you get used to it. * Taki nods, "Okay." [And finally, at the student government's booth... Time 4:00 p.m.] * Kyon sits at the table, looking out at the crowd uninterestedly over the now- dwindling stacks of pamphlets. Next to him, there's a sign advertising a raffle in which the first prize is a signed copy of Kensuke Sorazawa's new book. (The student government, we don't actually care about you, and that's just not gonna change. Please take a pamphlet though. ^^) (I'm a lame duck, I don't care! ^^) (And I'm a sitting duck. ;p) * Kyon calls out desultorily. "Pamphlets. Important information about your student life. Only here." [Kyon gets a good deal of people to come to him. Boys AND girls.] [As the crowd starts to thin out, Matthias and his goons practically force their way to the front.] * Kyon adopts a cool smile as people come up, and gestures across the table. "No matter your interest, we have the information. And the raffle..." He looks at the sign with a twinge of distaste, then back out to the people again. * Kyon lets the smile turn down to a smirk. "Don't think you really need information about Sakuragaoka's activities. You want a raffle ticket? It's a good prize." * Matthias ignores that. "We need to talk somewhere. Privately." (Aww come on..you know he wants to win Goro a Kirby plushie in the raffle) (Yay!) * Kyon leans back in his chair. "Yeah? I've got a booth to run. This's my job, too. Is it important enough for me to leave now?" Do you want to know about Judgement? * Kyon fades off the smirk entirely, and just looks coolly back. "You know what it is?" * Matthias shakes his head. "No, but I have found something." * Kyon nods tersely. "Right. Still shouldn't just leave the booth, though. Meet up at 6, here?" * Matthias frowns for a minute, but then says, "Fine." * Kyon nods quickly. "Right." Then he smirks. "Sure you don't want a raffle ticket? Any of you?" * Matthias turns and leaves, Goro follows him, but Kaoru stays behind. I'll take one. * Kyon nods, and reaches down to tear off a ticket. "It's 100 yen a ticket." * Kaoru pays. * Kyon hands over the ticket. "Still be here at 6, but if you want to write out contact info on the ticket anyway, go ahead." He proffers a pen. Nah... I'll be back later anyhow. * Kyon nods quickly, and puts the pen back down on the table. He drops his half of the ticket in the raffle bowl, and leans back in the chair, looking up at Kaoru. * Kaoru looks down at Kyon. * Kaoru pokes his fingers together nervously and looks to the side. "So. Ah... After you finish talking with the boss, want to, I dunno, catch a movie?" * Kyon smirks, and looks around the booth. "Tonight? Need to help close up the festival. Part of my job. Some other time." Oh. Okay. ...How about tomorrow? * Kyon cocks his head, then shrugs. "Ginza, Nichigeki, 7 PM. Friendly, mind." * Kaoru blinks. "Really?" He grins. "Okay. I'll be there! I will!" (Kaoru's in wuuuuuuuv.) I guess I better catch up with the boss, but thanks. Thanks a lot. (So cute! ^_^) * Kyon nods quickly, and waves dismissively. He looks around the crowd again. "Pamphlets. Essential information for you all. Only here, only now." * Kaoru practically skips away smiling. [Session End]
