* Kaede presses redial, cursing under his breath.
<Brett> [The phone rings three times, then it's picked up.]
* Kaede expected an answer at first, but was already geared blurt out. 
  "I'msorry,KatieranoffallofthesuddenandsheIdon'tknowwhatcameupbutI'msorry
  forbrushingyouofflike...that..." He realizes how silly he sounds near 
  the end of it and stops and blinks.
<Brett> [There's some giggling.]
* Kaede pauses even more...then groans. "...Nanako, is this you?"
<Brett> A high-pitched voice says: "Hello! You talk Reeeeal fast, mister!"
<Kaede> Not....normally.  Is Remi there?
<Brett> "Nope!  She left a few minutes ago! Gee, she was real unhappy!"
<Kaede> She...
* Kaede blinks. "She what?"
<Kaede> Where'd she go?
<Brett> "I dunno!"
<Kaede> Okay, listen really carefully.  Could you tell her that Kaede's 
  really really really really REALLY sorry?
<Brett> Okay! You musta done something real bad, mister!
<Kaede> And if she could call me back before Wednesday...I want to make 
  it clear...
<Kaede> I...um...one of my friends nearly broke down here and I blurted 
  out her name...
* Kaede rolls his eyes slightly and cups his hand over the phone. ~Why am 
  I explaining this to a kid?
<Brett> [Nanako giggles.]
<Kaede> It's not...that funny.
<Brett> [Nanako seems to think it is. She giggles more.]
<Kaede> Will you tell her though?  It just kind of..slipped when Katie 
  ran off.
<Brett> "Okay!"
* Kaede takes a deep breath. "Thanks Nanako. You'll be doing your sister 
  a big favor.."
<Brett> "Kaede is sorry because Kaede said his name and ran off."
* Kaede blinks. "...What?"
<Brett> "Didn't you want me to tell her?"
<Kaede> No no, I said Katie's name because SHE ran off...Kay-Tee, not 
  Ka-ey-dey.
<Brett> "That's a funny name."
* Kaede blinks again. "Which?"
<Brett> "Kay-Tee.  Is that why she ran off? Because you said her name and 
  it was funny?  That wasn't very nice."
<Kaede> No!  I don't...I don't know why she ran off.  It was something 
  about a birthday or something...but tell Remi I'm really really sorry.  
  I didn't mean to slip up like that.
<Brett> "Okay!"
<Kaede> Now...what are you going to tell your sister?
<Brett> "You forgot Kay-Tee's birthday and she ran off and you're sorry 
  you made fun of her name to Remi which made her really mad, so she 
  should call you back on Wednsday."
* Kaede groans. "Look. Just tell Remi that I'm really really sorry and 
  ask her to call me back tonight so I can explain, okay?"
<Brett> "Okay!"
* Kaede slaps his forehead. "Tell her that Ka-ey-dey is sorry. That's me."
<Brett> "Okay!"
<Kaede> Now what are you going to tell her?
<Brett> "Ka-ey-dey is sorry and wants Remi to call him back tonight so he 
  can explain."
* Kaede takes a deep breath, cupping the receiver so she doesn't hear. 
  "Close enough.." He lets up his hand and talks into it. "Great. Thanks 
  Nanako. I'm sure your sister will appreciate it."
<Brett> "Okay mister!"
<Kaede> You and Remi have a good night.
<Brett> "Good night, mister! Don't slip up again!"
* Kaede hangs up the phone and sighs deeply. "How did I get into a mess 
  like this?"
* Kaede shakes his head and heads towards Kyon's apartment.
