Please, give us a feel for the broader picture, otherwise we'll just keep making your job harder by fumbling around in the dark. * Woman heads out of the tower. It's started raining, and she mutters. "Great." * Woman looks back on Haruko. "I already told you." * Haruko sighs. "Yes, you told us your job, and you told us to get on protecting our friends, and we will." * Haruko keeps her voice quiet as they are out in public. "But you're the first Arcana we've met that knows what they are supposed to do, or any of the larger rules." What rules? All I know is letting normals find out is a dumb idea, and it's my job to stop it. * Haruko nods. "Alright, so how did you know it was your job?" Did the cards tell you that? The cards, God, logic... pick any number of things. It's just knowing. That's my purpose. That's why I have these powers. * Haruko nods. "I can understand that, healing people and trying to protect them is my purpose I think. I'm the queen of cups." We all have a purpose. Isn't that obvious? Most don't seem to have found it. Some of us are just lucky, I guess. * Haruko shrugs. "There's one Arcana I know who tends to forget his. His name is Jin and his memory was blanked when we met him. Did you do that? ::Her tone is more inquisitive than accusatory:: Jin? No. * Haruko nods. "Do you know him?" I've met him twice. He gave me a chicken sandwich. (Innit that nice of him?) * Haruko nods. "The chicken is sort of my fault. What happened? DId he drag you to meet some other Arcana?" * Woman shrugs. "No. Seemed kind of... what are they calling it these days... mentally challenged? It was pretty obvious he's one of us, too, but... He didn't actually do anything." * Haruko nods. "He's apparently the pawn of an Arcana that survived Hiroshima. But hmm." Alright, could you please tell me anything you noticed at the scene or saw in the reading when you blanked those two normals. It should help prevent a third attack on a normal. There wasn't anything to... Look, can we do this later? I'm in a hurry. * Haruko keeps up. "Do you have a cell phone number I could call?" * Woman keeps walking. "I'll find you if I have to." * Haruko sighs and rattles off her number. "Please call us before you blank the next victim if there is one. You'll still fulfill your purpose and you'll help us punish someone who truly deserves it. * Woman frowns. "You're mis-understanding me. My job is to keep the normals from finding out. That's all." * Haruko grits her teeth for a moment and then relaxes. "Look we all have our purposes, do me this favor and I will find a way to help you do yours." * Woman rubs her head. Stopping rogue arcana that keep doing stuff around normals, helping shut down the drug war, there are things I can do. I really don't care about whatever stupid war is going on. I just don't want to have to do any more work than I have to. And stopping whoever is attacking your friends is your responsibility. There are Arcana behind it, so that means the police will be investigesting why supernatural events keep occuring related to these drugs. They won't find anything out. The police are too stupid to figure out squat. And even if they did, I'd just erase it from their minds. * Haruko sighs. "Last generation one of the truly powerful Arcana threatened to prove our existance to the world. That threat was taken seriously and it required the council, not just your predecessor to deal with it." Because he was really friggin' powerful. She, but there will come a time when you'll need help. Do this for me, and there will be five more Arcana by your side when that day comes. And they did ask my "predecessor" to deal with it. She was the first person they turned to. When she got killed, they took more drastic measures. * Haruko nods. "That proves my point. Some day you may need help." Doubt it. * Woman heads off. Or tries to. So make the call. If you're right, you waste ten minutes. If I'm right, you gain some valuable allies. Moreover I'll happily heal you whenever you need it, no cost. * Haruko keeps dogging her for now. [She's not planning to say anything else, so unless you're gonna do something drastic, I'm calling it an end.]
