[Day: Monday, March 17th. Time: 5:20 p.m.] [Weather: The sky, now red with the setting sun, is still cloudy. It's not so windy, but it is still warm.] [Two days after the party, you're heading back to Ayako Kunoichi's mansion along with Saki Morikawa. You both parked your bikes somewhere nearby and met on the street corner. The mansion seems more ominous today than it did on Saturday, but that could just be because you're alone with Saki and without a cover story for entering the place, and Saki seems determined to have a resolution of Ayako's operation one way or another tonight.] [Session Start!] * Kyon stands near Saki, and rocks back on his heels, looking down towards the mansion. "The parents probably aren't back yet." * Saki stands with her hands in her jacket pockets, casing the joint. She gives a quick nod. "Good. And we won't have to worry about the neighbors call the cops, seeing as how there aren't any." * Saki starts towards the gate. "So all we have to worry about are junkies." * Kyon jams his hands in his pockets, and straightens up. "And the butler," he says as he steps in alongside. * Saki approaches the gate. It's locked, of course. * Kyon stalks along next to her, and looks over to the callbox. "Talked my way in here once before." * Kyon smirks. "That time, wasn't planning on upsetting things much, though." * Saki pokes the intercom button. "Well, let's see if it works then. [There's a Beep! Followed by the butler's voice, "Good evening."] * Kyon leans forward. "Good evening. I stopped by here during the party a couple nights ago, with a group of friends. Perhaps you remember?" "Yes, you made quite a ruckus, as I recall." * Kyon sounds apologetic. "You have my sincere apologies. In that... ruckus... I believe I misplaced a topaz ring somewhere in there. I've not been able to find it elsewhere. Has it turned up?" "Nothing of the sort has been found." * Kyon shrugs. "Nothing? It's not a large ring, and it's not flashy; it would be easy to miss. I've done so myself before." "Perhaps that's why you lost it." * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "Perhaps. I take it that area has been cleared, and it didn't come up?" "That's correct." * Saki takes her hands from her pockets. * Kyon blows out a breath. "Well, I suppose there's nothing I can do, then. I'll try searching around here. I believe you have my contact information should it surface." "Indeed we do. Good day, then." [The intercom goes Beep! again.] That didn't work so well. * Kyon blows out a breath as the intercom clicks off. "Should find another way in. And it's better this way. If things go badly with the rich girl, having been let in by the butler right before it happens would look suspicious." * Saki shrugs. "For what we're probably going to wind up doing, we don't need to worry about being suspicious." * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Never had the advantage of a field, so I try not to draw attention before doing these things." * Saki shrugs again. "At any rate, I know one way to get in. What's your idea?" * Kyon steps back away from the gate, and looks around. "Find a way in that's not on camera, and use it." * Saki nods. "Good enough." She starts towards the side of the fence. * Kyon watches Saki for a moment, then stalks off to the side and examines the fence for a likely entry point. [The fence is high, composed of vertical bars; Kyon spots no easy way to enter.] * Kyon blows out a breath, and looks over to Saki with an irritated expression. "What's your plan?" * Saki smirks. "The direct approach. Just force our way in." * Kyon scowls. "They're going to notice that. Unless you can make fields?" No can do. So unless you've got a better idea, I think we're going to get noticed. * Kyon looks at the fence hard again. "Could call someone who could make fields. Be more people by the time they get here, though." That'd take too long. * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "They know who I am. They see me, they'll be able to identify me." So? So getting called in by the police doesn't help the reputation. The rich brat's a dealer. The last thing she'll want to do is call the police. * Kyon nods quickly, and thinks for a moment before checking to make sure where they're standing is out of sight of the cameras. ( Mind roll -2 ) ( Electronics spec if you've got it ) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 5. [There's only one camera in front of the gate; you're well away from it.] * Kyon smirks, and pulls out his cell phone as he looks to see if anyone besides the two of them is around. [Nope.] * Saki looks up at the fence again and grumbles. "This is beginning to take longer than it should." * Kyon shifts his bag against his shoulder, then puts the cell phone down and kicks it to the other side of the fence. "Any reason's better than none." He looks at her sidewise. "Let's go." * Saki smirks. "You've got to be joking." * Kyon starts to head back to the gate, then stops and talks over his shoulder. "Need me to do this with you?" * Saki follows and shrugs. "Come if you want." * Kyon goes back to the gate. "Can probably get you in this way, but staying might be hard." Seems like too much work to me. We should just force our way in. * Kyon walks back towards her, and looks at her coolly. "You want to break the fence?" If I have to, I will. * Kyon rolls his shoulders. "There's the gate or the fence. You see any other ways in?" 'Course not. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "So either we try to get through the gate again, or you break the fence." * Saki looks towards the setting sun. "Try the gate first, see if that works. Otherwise..." * Kyon nods tersely, and stalks back over to the gate, slowing to a sheepish walk as he gets within camera range. He hits the intercom button again. [Beep! "Good evening."] * Kyon sounds almost painfully abashed. "Sir, I'm sorry to disturb you again, but... well, I was calling a friend of mine to decide where I wanted to go next, and the cell phone fell out of my hand, and bounced off my bag, and under the fence... um... I can't quite reach it. Could you let me in for a moment to get it? Or, could I impose upon you to get it for me?" [He sighs. "Very well, I'll open the gate." The gate unlocks. *click!*] I don't believe that worked. * Kyon lets loose an effusive "Thank you," before striding through the gate, his voice returning to normal. "Yeah." * Saki walks in after him, shrugging. "Can't argue with success." * Kyon stalks over towards the phone. "Probably watching for me leaving. I'll stay if you need it, though." * Saki walks towards the front door. "Up to you." [You head in through the gate, after using the weakest excuse you could imagine, towards Ayako's mansion.] (It's really not the worst excuse, you know. I could have been like, "There's a demonic duck loose on your grounds! Let me capture it for you!") * Kyon adjusts his bag across his back, looks around warily, and starts following her in measured strides. [Ok, it wasn't the worst excuse, but it's still rather sad that it worked.] * Saki stops in front of the door and looks back. "Still want to avoid the direct approach?" * Kyon arrives at the door, and shrugs quickly. "Knocking the door down will attract lots of attention." Wasn't planning to knock the door down. It'd be easier just to knock and then batter down whoever answers it. * Kyon smirks. "Let me see if I can get us in without battering before you try that." * Saki shrugs and shoves her hands in her pockets, standing aside. "Go for it." * Kyon knocks on the door, not tremendously loudly. [Theres a rather long pause, but the door is eventually opened by the butler. "What's the matter?"] * Kyon looks somewhat apologetic. "Sorry to keep troubling you. Since I'm already here, I was wondering if you'd mind if I looked around a bit for my ring? I know it's a lot of trouble, but it means a lot to me, and if there's even a chance..." [He sighs. "I'm sorry, sir, but you shouldn't be on the premis as is, and-" he's cut short by Ayako, who's at the top of the stairs. "It's alright, let them come in and look."] [The butler stands to the side and holds the door open. "Yes, lady."] * Kyon nods politely to the butler, and steps inside, nodding quickly to Ayako. "Sorry to bother you." * Saki follows, and the butler closes the door after her. She looks around the place rather disinterestedly. [Ayako shakes her head and gestures for them to come up the stairs. "It's no trouble. Besides, I wouldn't want someone organizing the beauty contest to be upset at me. Come on up."] * Kyon looks around briefly, moves his bag to his hands, and heads up the stairs. "It would be hard to hold not letting me in against you." [Ayako shrugs. "Perhaps, but it pays to be polite." She heads into the room where the party was last night.] * Saki follows. Honestly, she looks more like a thug than anything. * Kyon follows in behind Ayako, and sets his bag down, looking around the room with a wide gaze. [Ayako heads towards the other side of the room, looking around on the floor as she goes. "Well, I can't imagine it would still be here. We cleaned the place throroughly after the fiasco on Saturday, and didn't come across anything."] * Kyon shrugs quickly, and moves more towards the middle of the room, crouching a bit. "It's small. Barely fits on my little finger." [She nods. "By the way, what did you wind up doing with that insane woman?"] * Kyon looks up. "Dragged her off. Some of us know her well. Couldn't let her do anything that she'd regret." [Ayako: "Oh. I hope you restrained her. I'd hate for her to wind up dead."] Ayako: "By the way, I spoke with my people. They've never heard of a Kyon Sorata having anything to do with the beauty contest." * Kyon looks up at Ayako coolly. "I'm sure you care a lot about her." He shrugs quickly. "Haven't met everyone yet. The school only appointed me recently." [Ayako looks Kyon in the eye. "Well, it would be rather dangerous to have a woman running around throwing icicles everywhere, wouldn't it?"] * Kyon straightens, and cocks his head. "Yeah. Those things get sharp." * Saki watches Ayako carefully. [Ayako looks around the floor some more. "I still don't see your ring. Maybe you lost it when the lights went out suddenly."] * Kyon nods quickly. "A lot of things happened then. Wouldn't surprise me." He looks at her coolly. "Seen those icicles before?" Ayako: "Can't say I have. I'm rather surprised by it, really. Who would have expected someone like Remi was capable of that?" * Kyon jams his hands in his pockets. "Right. Sure you have something better than ice." * Ayako smirks. "In a way, although I'm sure you're closer to it than I am." She turns fully to face them. "So, what's the real reason you're here?" * Kyon quickly glances over to Saki, then turns back. "Some rumors about things you've been up to." [Ayako nods to herself. "Mmm... So you've heard that, have you? What if I said it was a lie?"] I'd say you were full of crap. * Kyon shrugs tersely, and smirks. "I'd just ask why I should believe you. Wouldn't go that far yet." [She shrugs. "Why shouldn't you? Stupid question, I suppose, but I have to ask."] * Kyon nods at Saki. "She usually knows what she's talking about. And there were the rumors." Not like it wasn't obvious. Having all these people suddenly gravitate to you? You became the center of attention overnight, a snob among snobs. It's so transparent, it's pathetic. Ayako: "Hmmm... Well, what can I say?" * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "That's your rebuttal?" Ayako: "Yes. I can't really come up with a way to convince you otherwise, and I don't really feel like it anyhow." Ayako: "So, it's true. I own Seiryuu High, and pretty soon the rest of Tokyo." * Kyon smirks. "Just admitting to it. That's refreshing." [Ayako shrugs. "I figure there's no sense in beating around the bush."] * Kyon nods quickly. "Sound like someone I could deal with. If it weren't for the drug thing." Ayako: "Sorry to disappoint. So, what are you going to do about it?" * Saki steps forward. "It should be obvious." * Kyon smirks viciously. "If we ask nicely, would that help?" [Ayako shakes her head. "Sorry. I'm afraid not. What would be better is if you joined me."] * Kyon raises an eyebrow, and looks at her coolly. "You want me. To join you." [Ayako nods. "It's less of a hassle than killing you. If you join me, then you don't have to disappear, and nobody will suspect a thing."] * Saki looks down and shakes her head. "This is stupid." * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "Joining you would mean betraying everyone I'm with now. Not something I do." [Ayako shakes her head. "You don't get it. I'm not asking you to join me." Two middle-aged people step into the room from the door near Ayako, a woman with a steak knife and a man with a golf-club. "I'd like you to meet my mom and dad. They'll keep you busy while I go get something." She then runs out the door.] ( Roll init ) d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (d6+6) and gets 12. [Order: Saki, Kyon, Mom, Dad] * Saki is about to do something when she's hit over the back of the head by the butler, whose wielding a baton. She stays conscious, though and after yelling all manner of curses, delivers a punch (accompanied by her familiar blue light) that sends him flying backwards, colliding with and nearly breaking the bannister surrounding the stairs. [Kyon's turn!] * Kyon leans down to his bag, and unzips it, and pulls out his sword before moving into a defensive position with it. [Ayako's mother moves towards Saki and tries to slice her with the knife, but Saki backs out of the way.] [Her father comes at Kyon and swings the golf club. Gimme a melee def, Kyon] 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 8. [Kyon gets clubbed in the side, which hurts like all hell.] * Kyon curses loudly in Chinese, and his eyes flash red as he glares at the man. * Saki grabs the arm of Ayako's mother that's holding the knife to keep it out of the way, then delivers a punch to her gut. The woman flies backwards and collides with the wall, but stays standing. [Kyon's turn again!] * Kyon sets his face grimly, steps forward and thrusts at the man, towards the shoulder with the club. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-3) and gets 2. [Kyon pierces the man's shoulder. He drops the club, but seems ready to swing at Kyon with his other hand. He probably will, too, but first...] [The woman comes at Saki again! But again she slides out of the way.] [The man then throws his punch, but it's awkward, and Kyon has no trouble avoiding it.] * Saki delivers another punch to the woman. She flies backwards and rolls when she hits the ground, and seems down for the count. [Kyon's turn!] * Kyon feints with the sword towards the injured side, then turns forward with his opposite fist, igniting it as he goes. He winces a bit as he swings it forward. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 5. [Kyon delivers his punch square on, and the man falls over backwards, unmoving. On fire, too.] * Saki rubs her head. "Damn it." She looks from Kyon to the door. "Let's catch her before she gets away." * Kyon down at the man quickly to see if the fire looks like it'll spread. [It's a small fire, but it might.] * Kyon grabs the man's shirt, pulls it up, and beats at the fire quickly. "Don't want this to burn under us while we're here." * Saki scowls. "Can't be helped." Meanwhile, Kyon puts out the fire in short order. * Kyon stalks quickly over to the door. "Come on." * Saki hurries towards the door. * Kyon runs a hand gingerly over his side as he walks, muttering under his breath in Chinese. [Behind the door is another corridor that goes left and right: Right loops around back the way you came, left goes to a second set of stairs.] * Saki looks left and right, and scowls. * Saki sprints to the left. * Kyon shrugs quickly, wincing again as he does so, and heads off to the left. [The second staircase spirals downwards. Saki wastes no time decending it.] * Kyon steps in along behind her, keeping his sword pointed off to the side. [The staircase stops at the first floor, but also goes down to the basement. Saki heads toward the latter. "This way!"] * Kyon looks around quickly to see if there's anywhere more likely. Also, to see if anything can shut behind them on the way down. [Doesn't look like it, in either case. She could've gotten off on the first floor, but the basement seems more like where to keep all the drugs and things. Although.... Gimme a perception roll at +2, Kyon.] 2d6+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6+2) and gets 9. [Kyon notices nothing unusual] * Kyon heads downstairs after Saki, somewhat more warily than she did. [The basement is stone; rather less inviting than the nice furnishings above, but at least the carpet is still pleasant. The corridor that the stairs are on runs all the way to a similar set of stairs on the opposite side of the mansion, and there are five doors: three to the left, two to the right.] * Kyon stalks along, and tentatively tries the first one on the left. [Kyon finds a bathroom.] * Kyon stops for a second, closes the door, and looks around for Saki. * Saki tries the second door on the left, finding a small storage room there. She shuts it and turns around. "Must be one of these." * Kyon crosses over to the other side and tries the first one on the right. ( Gimme an awareness check ) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6) and gets 11. (Aheh. Fine, use the DR, see if I care.) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6) and gets 9. ( K, Gimme ranged defense, -2 bonus ) 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 8. (Hee. Well, my luck's always been streaky.) ( Hoo boy. I was expecting you to make that ;_; ) (That's unfortunate, then. And I have no DR left, so yeah. If I did, I'd use it, but... ^^;) [No sooner does Kyon open the door then there's a gunshot, and he suddenly finds his shoulder bleeding. Behind him, Saki curses, her arm bleeding as well. And inside... ] (Should probably tell me whether it's the same side as the clubbed one, when you get a chance.) d2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Brett (d2) and gets 1. ( Yep ) (Well, that's a plus, at least.) [... is a room that might have been a den once, but nearly everything's been taken out of it to form, judging from the low light and the manacles on the far wall, some kind of dungeon. ] [Ayako is there next to them, holding a shotgun pointed at the door, chained up beside her is a long-missing person, Kyoko Ozora.] * Saki clutches her arm and scowls. "You'll pay for that." [Ayako is busily undoing the manacles chaining Kyoko. "Oh, I don't think so. See, I knew all about your kind."] * Kyon hisses out a stream of curses, and grits his teeth as he takes the sword into his other hand, staring with constant red eyes at Ayako, his face dead set and cold. (In Chinese, yeah.) ( Heh. It's kinda funny ^^ That's all he ever says in Chinese :P ) [Ayako smirks. "You think you're special because you've got powers, but you're just as easy to control as the rest of them." She finishes unchaining Kyoko, who rises to her feet.] (He doesn't have anyone to talk to. I figured it made sense. ^^) ( He can talk to Winston ^^ ) (If he's here now, he will. =P) ( He's not, though :P ) (Too bad. He could have distracted Ayako.) * Saki moves forward. "Feh, you aren't any different from the rest of them." * Kyon shuts his hand fast around the sword, and stares coolly. "You took her. To control her?" Ayako: "It was easy. One little pill, and she'd do whatever I asked." [Kyoko, by the way, is wearing her Pao-Pao Cafe' uniform, although that's in tatters. She probably hasn't worn anything else since she vanished.] * Kyon scowls. "And she just took it because you asked nicely." Ayako: "Of course not. She had no idea about it." Ayako runs her finger along the shotgun barrel. "All I had to do was slip it into her drink. That's the best way to do it." She looks up and smirks, "Slipping it into drinks." * Kyon shakes his head quickly, the scowl deepening. "Right. Get them into it, and they can't stop." Ayako smiles coyly, "Mine are a very nice one, too. The people using them don't even realize it. They just wait until I have them do something." * Kyon nods slowly, but stays silent this time, turning the sword in his grip with a bit of a grimace. Ayako: "It'll be the same with you, I'm sure." * Saki scowls. "In your dreams." * Kyon takes a step towards Ayako, paling a bit. "She didn't take anything from you. First time she's been here." Ayako grins. "Would you like to test that theory?" She turns to Kyoko. "Get ready for combat, dear." [Kyoko summons her spear and falls into a fighting stance.] "And as for you... You will be taking it. There are other ways to get you addicted." * Kyon takes another step forward and shakes his head slowly, his face a bit paler. "Not that easy." He closes his eyes, and after a few instants the flames start to swirl around him, pulling around him and flowing up, forming a solid barrier. [Ayako seems surprised, but raises her shotgun.] ( Roll init again ^^ ) d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (d6+6) and gets 8. [Order: Saki, Kyoko, Kyon, Ayako.] * Saki dashes forwards, initially for Ayako, but when Kyoko gets in her way, she switches targets and throws a punch, one that Kyoko is able to avoid. [Kyoko stabs at Saki with her spear, but the biker is able to avoid that, as well.] [So it's Kyon's turn!] * Kyon reverses his normal stance, and tries to step forwards towards Ayako, lunging for her arm. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-3) and gets 2. [Kyon skewers her arm. Ayako screams and tries to fire again, but it doesn't work so well with only one arm.] * Saki strikes at Kyoko again, this time connecting. Kyoko slams into the far wall, but gets up and rushes she goes after Kyon this time. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 2. [Kyon parries the spear thrust. It's his turn!] * Kyon steps forward and just does a simple thrust towards Ayako's injured, gun-toting arm. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-3) and gets 7. [Kyon's thrust is a little off, allowing Ayako to move to the side and avoid it. Unable to fire, she swings the gun at him like a club, but misses] * Saki meanwhile throws another punch at Kyoko, but she dodges and counters, her spear grazing Saki's leg. [Which brings us back to Kyon!] * Kyon shakes his head as if to clear it, grimaces, and does a short feint to cover direction before aiming for Ayako's arm again. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-3) and gets 8. [Ayako was apparently ready for it, and Kyon misses. She swings at him again. (gimme a def roll)] 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 5. [Kyon doesn't block, but it doesn't matter; Ayako drops the gun as her hand touches the flames of his shield with a screech.] * Saki meanwhile throws another punch at Kyoko, hitting her again. She staggers back, but stays standing (albiet barely)] [Kyoko tries to stab Saki again, but to no avail.] [Kyon's turn!] * Kyon forces a smirk onto his face with some effort, and shakes his head. "Not like that." He moves his sword to point horizontally parallel to Ayako's face, and throws a punch at her (no flames, though). 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Kyon (2d6-2) and gets 4. [CRACK! Ayako spins around and hits the floor. She doesn't get up.] * Saki also delivers a final punch to Kyoko, which puts her down for the count. * Kyon smirks, and moves his sword back into place, looking down at her, his face paler than usual. "Like this." * Kyon surveys the scene, then closes his eyes and drops the field. He reopens his eyes rather slowly, and looks to Saki with a pale, somewhat weary face. "How you doing?" * Saki cracks her knuckles. "Hmph. They always think they're better than they are." * Saki shrugs, trying not to grimace much. "I'll live. Been through worse." * Kyon nods quickly. "Yeah. Easy to end up that way when you can control people like that." He nods to Kyoko, his face turning cooler. * Saki nods. "Wouldn't be the first time that's happened, either. I get the feeling Arcana are being targeted by the dealers. We make good body guards, I guess. * Kyon shakes his head almost bemusedly. "If that's what she wanted, Kyoko wasn't a good choice. Never the best one for that." Not like there's a big selection. * Saki rubs her wounded arm. "At any rate, I'll contact the cops, leave an anonymous tip. That should keep her off the streets for a good long time." * Kyon scowls. "If she drugged the drinks at that party, about half my group is in the selection." He nods quickly. "Yeah. Good idea." * Kyon looks at Kyoko. "Should take her somehow." * Saki scowls. "Damn. Watch your back, then." * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "I'll call for transport. Don't want to stay here any more than you." * Saki nods. "Good. I'll go find a payphone for the police." She heads out of the room. * Kyon nods quickly, and pulls out his cell phone to make some calls of his own, staring down at the two bodies and wincing now that he's alone. [Session End]
