[Day: Saturday, March 27th. Time: 5:30 p.m.] [Weather: Sunny and cool.] [Kyon heads to Katie's house!] [Session Start!] * Kyon stops his bike in front of Katie's house, and pulls off his helmet. He reaches into his pocket, tugs out his cell phone, flips it open, and stabs the buttons to call Katie. * Katie picks up the other end after a ring and a half. "" * Kyon shakes his head bemusedly. "Always answer the phone in English, no matter how many times people who don't know it call. Come outside." * Katie moves, and she peeks out one of the front windows. Kyon probably notices if he's watching anything other than just her front door. * Katie retreats back in, comes back, opens the window, and waves. "Hey, Kyon!" * Kyon spots her moving, then rolls his eyes and waves back tersely. "Hey. Coming out, or not?" I'm thinking about it. * Katie lifts a small camera and snaps a quick picture of him, then pulls back in and shuts the window. * Kyon scans the area around the house, and speaks into the phone. "Another for your shrine?" * Katie asks, "Shrine for what?" There's some rustling on the other end, then the end is covered and there's muffled talking. * Kyon smirks. "For me. Unless you have some better reason for just taking a picture out the window instead of coming down." * Katie finishes talking with whoever and answers as she opens the door, "I might." She looks at him and clicks off the phone. ( Blackmail :P ) * Kyon flips the phone shut and shoves it back in his pocket. "Might have a reason, or might have a shrine?" * Katie tucks her own phone away. "Might to both. What's going on?" She's wearing a pair of *very* washed out jeans and a violet t-shirt with an open button collar. * Kyon looks her over quickly to make sure she's presentable enough, and leans back against the bike. "You're going to go eat fruit and cake, and we'll talk." (Fig Newtons!) * Katie blinks. "What?" And then she blinks again. "Um... give me a second. Parents." She retreats back into the house. * Kyon shakes his head irritatedly. His expression bespeaks a belief that invitations such as this shouldn't require further permissions. (*laughs*) * Katie opens the door after a few minutes. She's wearing sneakers now! And dragging a jean jacket, which she shrugs on before closing the door behind her. * Kyon pushes off the bike, and moves to the back of it, smirking. "Receive all necessary clearances? Couldn't have you just heading off." * Katie sighs. "They're worried about me." She goes to get on the bike. "But they're okay with it, since you're coming." * Kyon takes a spare helmet from his trunk, and hands it to Katie. "Yeah. And it's cake." He shoves his own helmet on. "Even overprotective parents find it unthreatening." (*cracks up*) * Katie laughs. "Yeah." She slips her own on before bracing herself for, y'know, going. ( "It's not the kind of cake that'll eat her right? No. I think it's the perfectly normal kind that *you* eat.) * Kyon gets onto the front of the bike, and sits back a bit. He instinctively moves forward so he's not touching her, then settles back gingerly so she can hold on. He's wearing the Sakuragaoka baseball uniform windbreaker, and dark orange pants slashed with black. "Whenever you're ready." * Katie hangs on. She winces, readying herself for motorcycle noise. "Ready." ( Tigerpants! ) (Yup!) * Kyon shifts a bit uneasily, but changes it to starting up the bike and pushing off. He drives off to the cake parlor! [Kyon pulls up in front of the place! There's a sign outside labelled "Cake Parlor - Saint," and the same is painted in blues and yellows on the awning. There are a few tables set up outside, with blue and yellow sun umbrellas covering the ornate brushed metal. Inside, there are various booths and freestanding tables, along with a whole wall counter full of cakes.] [There are a few people inside, but no one at the outside tables.] * Katie blinks at the place, getting off of the motorcycle. "Where wheels can take you." She removes the helmet and shakes out her hair, then looks over to the guy who brought her here. * Kyon turns off the bike, and steps off of it. He takes off his helmet, and goes to the back of the bike to stuff it back in there. He then reaches out a hand for hers. "Got good sets here. Can be expensive, but good." * Katie looks at the hand for a moment before handing him the helmet. "Okay." * Kyon rolls the helmet deftly over his armwarmer, and stows it away. He looks at the place, then goes to sit at one of the outside tables. * Katie looks in, then follows Kyon to the table. She picks a seat that isn't his, but at the same table! Handy. * Kyon looks at Katie sidewise. "Kiwi, chocolate, and angel's food. Sound right for you?" * Katie nods. She sets her chin on a hand and looks around. * Kyon nods quickly, signals for a waiter, and when he comes over, orders the kiwi chocolate set, and a mug of tea. When the waiter scurries off, he returns his gaze to Katie. "So. Blew up at the gang girl before." * Katie sighs, moving to fold her arms. "Yeah, well." * Kyon smirks. "Something about not wishing for things you don't know about?" * Katie frowns. "She shouldn't." * Kyon inclines his head slightly. "No. She doesn't get all the consequences." She can see them, and she still won't know what they are. It's not worth it. * Kyon stays quiet as the waiter walks over with the cakes. The waiter sets down a plate with three slices of cakes, a dark chocolate one, a white one, and one so studded with berries it almost looks like there's no cake involved. Arrayed around them are kiwi slices and small strawberries. He also sets down a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. * Kyon watches as the man walks off, and shrugs quickly. "Worth it enough to yell at her, though. For you." * Katie doesn't seem impressed by the cake. "I got upset." * Kyon pushes the cakes towards Katie, and picks up the tea. He cups his hands around the mug, and glances at her. "Why?" Because I- I just did, all right? * Katie eyes the cake, almost like it'll bite her, then picks up the one of the strawberry slices and pops it into her mouth. * Kyon smirks. "Right. Just did." He sips the tea, and moves it down a bit. "You're not settled." * Katie blinks. "Settled?" * Kyon gestures offhand at the cake. "Try the berry slice." * Katie blinks again, then does so. * Kyon rewraps his hands around the cup of tea, and then says, "Settled. You haven't accepted it yet. It's why you're so brittle now." * Katie nearly drops the cake as she snaps, "I've accepted that *something* is happening." I've accepted that I'm not who I thought I was. Does that count? * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "No, it doesn't. Might have before, but not now. Far as I can tell, you got that one down a while back." * Katie eyes him for a moment. "Yeah." She has another bite, and this time, she does put the cake down. * Kyon looks down at the tea, swirling it in the mug. "You really think you're lost?" What do you mean? * Kyon mutters something in Chinese under his breath, and looks up halfway, an awkward expression on his face. "What do you want from me? You obviously need help. And I..." He stops, and tugs at his armwarmers. "It's your coffee, too. Comes with the set." * Katie turns her attention to the coffee and drags it over, cupping her hands around it. She grabs some cream and pours it in, but doesn't drink just yet. "And you what?" * Kyon looks up at Katie full on. "Should do more than I have been." * Katie stirs her coffee and looks in, more or less absorbed by that. "Why?" she asks, dully. "And how? I have other friends. They all want to help. If you don't have the time..." She shrugs. You just do what you can. That's all I'd ever want. * Kyon smirks. "I know your other friends. You need me as a complement. They're not willing to say the hard things." Then if you are, what are you worried for? * Kyon shakes his head ruefully. "Because despite whatever it is they're doing, you're not really there." * Katie puts her left hand to her face. "That's what this is about. I'm not like me anymore?" She laughs, faintly. "I could have told you that." * Kyon waves a hand dismissively. "Anyone could have told you that. I'm saying you're not anything anymore." * Katie snaps up to look right at Kyon. "What?" ( Oou. Checkmate. ) * Kyon smirks. "There we go." He reaches over and rotates the cake plate. "What are you? You obviously don't know. You don't know to the point where you confuse yourself with not only you and you in a room someone left you in, but you dead from a past life. That's confused." (That is a wonderful sentence, and deserves coreference markers everywhere.) * Katie glares at Kyon, then snaps in English, "" (* see session 98! * see break 38!) (Nah, more like which you each you goes with. =P) * Kyon shrugs quickly. "" * Katie pushes the mug away. "" * Kyon shakes his head quickly, and smiles crookedly over at her. "" * Katie looks away. "" * Kyon blows out a breath, and shakes his head quickly. "" He smirks, and gestures at the cake. "" * Katie laughs, a little unsteadily. She rubs at one eye.
