[Day: Wednsday, March 5th. Time: 6:00 p.m.] [Weather: Cloudy sky, warm, humid.] [Kyon(?) invited Chikako on a date, and the rest of you tagged along. The place he picked is a quaint Japanese restaurant in Ebisu Garden Place, a 37- story building with a large variety of stores and restaurants. The Japanese restaurant is on one of the higher floors, and your table gives you a nice view of the city below. And hey! You can see Tokyo Tower in the distance.] [Mini Start!] * Haruko sits right next to Taki and as far from Kyon as possible, she hasn't stop playing with her hair since she left Chikako's office. * Chikako sits down near the window and looks out. "Cool!" * Kyon sits opposite Chikako, and leans back in the chair, taking in both her and the view. He nods quickly. "Yeah. Like these kinds of places? Usually, people don't think of this one, but it's got unique sightlines." * Chikako nods. * Katie sits next to Chikako. She looks out the window, too. "Yeah, it is." (Yeah that's it, leave me to sit next to him) (You're getting a free dinner out of it) (Hey, I'm totally likeable!) * Taki sits between Kyon and Haruko and looks around, "I didn't even know this place existed." * Haruko glances out the window. "It.. it is quite nice." * Haruko decides to admire the view for a while. * Kyon glances over at Taki. "No? There's a movie theater and a big department store down in the bottom of the building. Don't even know that part?" * Taki thinks for a bit then nods, "I haven't spent much time exploring this part of town." * Kyon shrugs quickly. "Somewhat out of the way." He turns back to Chikako and the view, and picks up a menu without looking. He opens it, flips it to face her, and holds it out. * Chikako peers at the menu * Haruko keeps staring out the window. * Taki shrugs and opens her own menue and grimaces at the prices. * Katie idly flips through the menu, not reacting to the prices at all. * Chikako points at one. "This looks cool." * Kyon leans forward, and looks at what she points out. "Yeah, I've had that before. They bring you the ingredients, and you get to cook it yourself at the table." He smirks. "Always adds to the experience." * Haruko gulps and suddenly takes an interest in the menu. * Chikako blinks. "They do? Oh." She sounds disappointed. * Taki grins and tries to find that item, "That sounds like fun." * Kyon cocks his head. "Didn't realize that? Well..." He looks down at the menu, and circles a finger around a particular section. "These are cooked ahead of time. If you don't want to have to do it yourself." * Chikako nods. "Ok. That sounds cool." * Haruko briefly peers over to see what section that refers to and then proceeds to go back to staring out the window again. * Kyon nods quickly, and looks at Taki's menu briefly. "The middle page. Many different types." * Taki ahhs and turns the page and looks over these selections. * Haruko leans over next to Taki and whispers something to her. * Taki blinks and then nods. * Taki then takes a look down the opposite page. * Haruko nods gratefully and look over at Tokyo Tower. * Kyon shrugs, and leans back in his chair, focusing on Chikako again. He runs a hand down the front of his shirt, which is a dark, dark blue with a grey stripe running down from the shoulders to the sleeves, then leans forward, leaning his elbows on the table. He cocks his head slightly, and takes it all in. * Katie looks up her menu just as Kyon does that, fixing him with a steely glare. [Along comes a waiter. "Are you ready to order?"] * Haruko glances frantically back at the menu. * Taki looks down and then up at the waiter, "I'm sorry, but I'm not quite ready yet." * Kyon looks up to the waiter, and nods quickly. "Another couple minutes." [He nods and walks off.] * Kyon turns back to the view, but focuses more on Katie. He smirks. "It doesn't meet your approval?" Oh, the restaurant does. It's very nice. * Haruko selects something and puts her menu down. * Chikako nods. "It's cool!" * Haruko nods and looks a bit past Kyon. "It's true, you have great taste in restaurants. I really loved that restaurant you recommended for my date with Ryuji, although I haven't been able to remember the name since." * Kyon nods tersely, and shifts his eyes back to Chikako. "Right. Helps that I had to go to these places a lot with my parents when I was a kid." * Taki sighs and closes her menu after picking something she can nearly afford to eat. * Haruko whispers something else over to Taki. * Kyon flicks his eyes over the table, notices all the menus are closed, and tries to catch the eye of the waiter. [The waiter notices, and comes back over. "Are you ready now?"] * Taki blinks and whispers back. * Kyon nods quickly, and gestures offhandedly at Katie. "Go first. You're the official chaperone." He regards her with a smirk. * Katie favors Kyon with another glare before opening the menu, pointing out a relatively inexpensive (like it matters here) chicken dish, and ordering. * Chikako orders one of the meals Kyon suggested. * Kyon scans his menu quickly, and orders a meat, kimchi, and noodles dish to cook at the table. * Taki looks up from Haruko long enough to place an order for a prepaired fish dish. * Haruko using the opportunity to also glancec up and place an order for a different reasonably inexpensive fish dish and a glass of water. [The waiter hurries off once you've all ordered.] * Kyon surveys the table, and shakes his head bemusedly. "None of you up to doing it yourself?" * Taki shakes her head, "If I wanted to do it myself I could just go home, they've probibly got better ingrediants here, but I'm taking today off." Maybe some other time. I'm not much of a cook. * Haruko glances down at her lap for a long moment and then looks up again. "I'm not really a good cook, I can prepare foods, but I think the staff would do it better." It'd be cool, but I can't cook well. * Kyon looks back to Chikako with a warm, somewhat awkward gaze. "You sure? Could help me with mine... I wouldn't mind." * Katie toys with her chopsticks. It's cool. I always burn it. Or don't cook it enough. * Taki blinks and then looks past Kyon at the tower. * Haruko goes back to enjoying the view. * Kyon shakes his head quickly. "I'll watch. Doing it together would work fine. But if you don't want to..." He shrugs quickly. Well, ok, it'd be cool to, I guess. [The waiter comes back and distributes food!] * Haruko smiles gratefully at the waiter. * Katie stops toying with her chopsticks and starts picking at her food with them. She doesn't seem that hungry. * Taki thanks the waiter as her plate is set before her. * Kyon nods quickly to the waiter, and takes it. He surveys the raw food, and looks at the grill cautiously. * Haruko takes a sip of water and then turns to over to Chikako. "So... anything interesting in the news in the past two days? I keep missing the paper." * Chikako peers at the food. * Katie doesn't look up from her food. "Haven't you done this before, Kyon?" I can get you some cool back-issues if you want, Haurko. * Haruko nods. "That'd be cool." * Taki picks up her chopsticks and pokes at her fish a bit. * Kyon nods quickly at Katie, and turns the grill on at a switch under the table. He holds a hand a couple inches over it. "Still need to make sure everything's in place." * Taki nods and takes a bite of her own food. * Haruko flinches briefly and then starts picking at her food. Mmm hmm. * Chikako starts eating her food while watching Kyon curiously. * Taki eats as she waits for the grill to heat. * Kyon scans the table quickly, and grabs the oil. He pours some on the grill surface, then looks for a spatula. He picks one up, smooths out the oil, then uses the spatula to lower the meat from his dish to the grill. * Haruko glances down again for a moment and then takes another bite of her dish. "Not bad at all." I agree. * Kyon rolls his eyes at that. "Don't go to bad restaurants. And the ones up here are all pretty decent. This one's the best." He then looks at the meat critically, and pokes it a bit with the spatula. * Chikako nods. "It's so cool!" * Kyon looks from the grill up to Chikako. "You ready to give it a try?" * Chikako nods. "Cool. * Katie looks up from her food to watch Chikako's attempt. * Kyon lays the spatula at the side of the grill, and proffers the plate with the remaining food on it to Chikako. * Taki also stops eating to watch the pair. * Haruko takes a slow drink from her cup and then looks over in Kyon and Chikako's direction. * Chikako tries grilling the food. * Kyon cocks his head and looks at the grill as Chikako cooks it. He picks up a spare spatula and waits, in case anything starts to happen. [The food is cooking o/~] * Haruko takes another bite of the food and keeps locking in Kyon's general direction. "This is so good. Which reminds me can you recall the name of that place you recommended? I'd like to go back there some time." * Taki watches the food cook, and will giver her a warning when it should be getting done. * Kyon blinks, but doesn't look up from the grilling food. He twirls the spatula in one hand. "What, the yakitori place?" [The food is beginning to burn on one side.] Uhm, Chikako? You might want to turn that over now. * Haruko thinks for a moment. * Kyon gestures quickly to Chikako, and moves in with his own spatula to get it ready to flip. * Chikako blinks. "Ah!" She flips it over. Eventually (under Kyon's watchful eye) it finishes cooking. * Haruko nods. Yeah... that place. * Kyon nods, and cuts the food into halves, then quarters with his spatula. He takes the plate and slides off three of the pieces, then looks at Chikako with one eyebrow raised. "Want the last one? Since you helped make it." He smiles thinly. "And it should be pretty spicy." * Haruko takes another bite and keeps her eyes over by Kyon. * Chikako nods. "Cool." * Kyon turns his head a bit and looks at Haruko unblinkingly. "Yotsuya. Been a while, but pretty sure that's what I recommended." * Taki takes another bit of her fish and chews thoughtfully. * Katie stops picking at her food enough to eat it. A little. * Haruko nods and snaps her fingers. "Yeah... that's the name... Good memory." She then takes another long slow drink of water. * Kyon takes the remaining piece and reaches across the table to slide it onto Chikako's plate. He looks at Katie with a hint of concern. "Not good?" * Chikako takes a bite. * Katie sets her chopsticks down. "No, I like it. I'm just... not feeling too good." She gets to her feet. "I'm going to the bathroom. Chikako, want to come with?" * Taki looks up Katie. * Katie looks at Chikako expectantly. * Chikako looks at Katie, a bit concerned. She stands up. "Okay. Cool." * Katie lets out a small smile and heads off to the women's bathroom. * Chikako follows! * Kyon looks up at Katie, then to Chikako, and back. "Right." He looks out the window. * Taki blinks and shakes her head. * Haruko takes another bite. "So you'll be able to attend school regularly again now, right Kyon?" * Kyon grabs a pair of chopsticks and breaks them apart, then separates one of the pieces out from the others. "Maybe. Going to try to run the business stuff I need to from here, so I can do it. But some of it needs to be done during school hours." He shrugs quickly. * Haruko nods and takes another sip of water, she makes an effort to keep both of her hands on the table rather than in her hair. * Haruko then quickly glances around to see whether there are other patrons or staff in hearing range. If you have to do everything over the phone anyway, why not just get somebody there to handle thing and tell you what happend after you get out? * Kyon eats some of his food, smirks a bit, then looks back out the window. "Personal touches matter. If I'm the only Sorata that can do it now, then I do it." * Haruko glances down at her lap and then looks back over to Kyon. She isn't making eye contact, but she's closer. Ahh, I see. If I'm here, I can also take care of my other responsibilites. Or try. Think I can juggle things, though. * Haruko quiets down a bit but speaks a little quickly and with more than a touch of nervousness. "I'm curious how could you tell when you mastered the field? I only figured out how to heal someone by trying to heal them normally, don't think that would apply to a field." * Taki nods and opens her mouth to reply when Haruko asks her question. * Haruko gives an apologetic glance towards Taki. * Kyon grabs a couple more pieces off his plate, and chews them, regarding the view quietly. He swallows, pauses a bit more, then answers quietly. "I always keep working on what I can do. It's who I am. This was just another thing to try." * Taki gives a little shake of her head and waits for Kyon to answer. So, how did you figure it out? Thought about a wall? Or everybody disapearing? Or something else? * Haruko nods. "Yeah, do you just try a whole range of things each day... or do you feel different and work with that? * Chikako comes back! * Kyon cocks his head, and looks down at the plate, teasing out one of the kim chi pieces. "It's... hard to explain. Like pushing yourself outwards." * Taki nods and then waves to Chikako. * Haruko does the same, and then looks for Katie. * Kyon looks up from the plate, sees Chikako, and gives her a warm smile before turning a bit concerned. "She feeling better now? Where'd she go?" ( She ought to be following Chikako :P ) * Katie comes walking up now. "Yeah, I'm feeling better." She slides onto her seat. * Chikako slides into her seat before Katie, 'cause otherwise she'd have to climb over her. (I figured she did!) Welcome back. * Haruko nods and gives a faint smile and then looks back to Kyon. "I guess it would be hard to explain. It seems as if things like that can only be approached using lots of metaphors leaving the student to find the meaning for themselves." * Katie goes back to picking at her food. * Chikako eats her food, noticibly more slowly. * Haruko takes another bite of her food, she puts a little grace into it. * Kyon looks at Haruko sidewise over Taki. "Yeah. Could see it that way. Didn't come easy, but you get it eventually. Tried to talk with some people who could, and took whatever I could from that." * Kyon turns back to Chikako, flicking his eyes down to his plate first to snag the rest of the first piece of his dish. He seems perplexed for just a second. * Taki shrugs, "I guess so, I just want to go someplace hard enough and I there I am, it gets harder the farther I go though." * Katie pops some food into her mouth and looks curiously at Kyon. "Is something wrong?" * Haruko takes a sip of water and straightens her posture a bit. "The healings actually a bit more abrupt, I just reach a point where I know I can't do any more good." * Taki rubs her face for a bit and then mumbles something about away not quite being good enough. * Kyon nods quickly at Taki, then looks back to Haruko. "Everything works differently. Applying one feel to another is dangerous." He regards Katie with a smirk. "Nah. It's all right." What's it feel like to make fire then? * Katie nods. "Good to hear," she says absently as she goes back to her food. * Haruko nods and takes another bit, at this point her form is almost elegent, she wavers for just a second with Taki's question, but manages to maintain appearances. * Kyon flexes the hand not holding the chopsticks into a fist, then releases it again, staring at the armwarmer there. "It's... like clenching something in you so hard it bursts, and then spreading it around you quickly so you don't, too." He looks up at Chikako awkwardly. "Doesn't really make sense." I guess you'd just have to do it to know. * Taki blinks a few times and then nods at Katie. * Kyon glances at Katie sidewise. "Right. Could you explain making the wind blow?" Mmm. * Kyon smirks. "Not even going to try?" * Haruko bites her lip for a moment but keeps eating. She has an interested even slightly cheerful expression, but it seems just a tad artificial. * Katie looks out the window. "It's... like an extension of you, but constantly moving and slipping away. It's... I don't know the word. , but hard." * Taki closes her eyes as she tries to work out what the word Katie just used was. * Haruko blinks at the English, but otherwise doesn't react. * Katie looks at Kyon. "" [Outside, it starts drizzling.] * Kyon nods quickly, and starts eating the next piece. "" He smirks. * Taki rubs her forehead and says quitly to herself, "Where's my dictionary when I need it?" I think it's cool. * Katie nods. "Maybe you can show me that again sometime?" * Haruko stops reacting to the english and just keeps up her polite expression. * Kyon shrugs. "You'll probably end up seeing it some time, anyway. That's the luck." It is, isn't it. * Katie picks at her food some more. * Kyon looks back at Chikako, and cocks his head. "Everything's OK?" Huh? Oh, it's cool. * Haruko looks thoughtful for a moment and then frowns briefly and reverts to her earlier expression. She takes a drink of water. * Taki gives up on the word for now and eyes her plate. [About now, a girl comes over to your table. By now she should be pretty familiar.] * Haruko takes another bite and glances up at the new arrival. * Kyon rests a hand in the middle of the table, to the side of the grill, and eats a bit more. "Just..." He looks up at the new girl, and scowls. Well, Mr. Sorezawa. Fancy meeting you here. (She's been at the book signing and Kyon's booth. Anywhere else?) * Taki looks up at her. ( The festival. That's it :P ) (They weren't using it properly, it was neglected, the poor thing.) (She was at our booth too, she can't throw worth anything.) (Right, so Haruko wouldn't recognize her, just checking.) (She's loud enough though that if she's not familiar by now, then she'll bitch until she is.) I noticed you sitting over here and just HAD to share the good news. * Kyon scowls more deeply. "Yeah? What is it? Can't you see I'm eating with some other people here?" * Haruko looks the girl over but doesn't interrupt, yet. * Katie doesn't react to Takako's presence. * Taki tries to look interested, but it's hard to do when you're eating. * Takako more or less ignores Kyon (despite that she's talking to him), and gestures at herself. "I have decided that I will buy your next book when it comes out! You may set your mind at ease." (Don't you mean it's hard to do when it's Takako?) * Takako starts away. "Farewell!" * Haruko grins slightly and then drops it. * Kyon shakes his head irritatedly. "Yes, it was worth interrupting my meal at a nice restaurant to assure me of one future sale." * Taki stares at the departing girl. "My day is now compleat." * Chikako giggles. * Taki then shakes her head and takes another bit of fish. * Katie snorts, and it upgrades into a snicker. * Haruko looks over at the others. "That was the, self-assured, girl you've mentioned before right?" * Taki nods. That would be her. * Kyon blows out a breath. "I never should have let my agent convince me to do book signings. Never." There must have been something good that came of it. * Haruko nods and eats a bit more. I see what you had meant about her. Her character showed through in even such a brief encounter. * Kyon shrugs quickly. "We probably sold more because of it. Got some publicity. But it only leads to people like her tracking you down." Book signings are cool! * Taki nods again. [Meanwhile, it stops raining. And the waiter comes around again.] * Katie has another bite of food and pushes her plate away. * Kyon looks to Chikako with a smirk. "I'd agree, but I already knew you before I met you there." * Haruko narrows her eyes a bit at Kyon's expression. She then finishes her meal and lets the waiter take it. * Taki puts her chopsticks down across her plate. [The waiter takes food from people who are done.] * Haruko glances down for a moment as the waitor takes the dishes away. * Kyon leans back, in his chair, rolls his shoulders, and fades his expression to just a smirking mask. "Remember things being spicier here." * Taki eyes the grill in front of Kyon to see if they gave him any spices or sauce. It was pretty cool. * Katie sips her tea, then sets down the cup and idly spins it. [Wheeeeeeeeee!] * Haruko takes another sip of water and quietly but clearly comments. "Not everyone likes it hot." (If tea cups could only talk. ^^) * Taki nods. * Kyon shrugs. "So you don't order it that way. Kim chi should be spicy." He looks to Chikako. "What'd you think?" I thought it was cool. ( And I had Kimchi once. Eeek! :P ) (It's dark out by now, right?) (It's good! =P) ( Yeah ) * Kyon looks off at the lit up tower. Orange always was a nice color for it. He points off at it, keeping his hand near his body. Hmm? ::looks out the window:: * Haruko takes another sip. "I love to see the city at night, with the lights it always seems more like a living thing to me." * Chikako peeks outside. "Yeah, it's cool." * Kyon nods tersely. "Everything seems more real, somehow. Especially from this high." * Katie looks out the window. "I don't know. I think it's less." You can't tell what's happening, it's just there. It sparkles, and it's pretty to look at, but if you go there there isn't anything. * Haruko looks whistfully off in the distance. "I don't know. I think the height lets you see the whole of the machine, a vast organism with traffic as it's bloodstream. From street level the scale is different, you're only examining the parts." * Taki nods slowly at Haruko. That's cool. [The waiter leaves once he has all the food, leaving a bill behind.] * Kyon looks sidewise at Taki. "Right. Once you get in close, everything is different. But that doesn't change the view from afar." I didn't say it wasn't a nice view. [Session End]
