The council

The council, which determines who goes on the caravan, is composed
entirely of veteran caravaners itself.  Headed by Cid, it also has
a heavy hand in town affairs.  Each of them has their own history
and stories, and most of them (in particular, Squenix) generate
their fair share of rumors.

-Clavat
1. Cid

  Cid is the head of the council.  He's very old, having been
5 caravans back on his journeys.  He has no family name, and
actually doesn't have any family of his own.  There are few
defining features to him, other than he's still reasonably strong
for his age, and has a knack for gadgets and gizmos.
  He is known for making longwinded speeches and will take any
opportunity to do so.  He has an aged look to him, and it's
rumored that he can't even fit into his armor anymore.

2. Loren Hasgord

  Loren is a grandfather, the only one on the council.  A caravaner
40 years back, his love for adventuring and caravanning is no secret.
Having exercised regularly over this time, he's still in very good
physical condition.  A bit conservative and defense-minded, he
always was excellent at logistics and planning.
  Loren was always level-headed and slow to anger.  But, it's said
that he harbors a great secret that he gathered during his
adventures.  Like most rumors, this one has little foundation to it.
A bit of trouble apparently came to his family when his son refused
to join the caravan, and now that Loren's grandchildren are of age,
Loren has gained a bit of vitality in himself to keep a good image
for them grandchildren.

3. Gwesus Masahcarey

  Gwesus is one of the strongest caravaners to ever come from
Sanriem.  Her strength not only relies on her muscles, but also her
dedication to do what she feels is best for the whole.  She has a
booming voice and a strong sense of conviction.  On a caravan
thirty years back (3 caravans), she and Squenix have a long-lasting
friendship as the only two survivors from that caravan.
  It is said that Gwesus is the only one who knows how Squenix
became the way she is today.  She is short for a Lilty, and rather
messy too.  Still, she's settled down and raised a family, so maybe
there is something other than muscle behind her.  Having raised 4
children with the help of her Clavat husband, Belgano Clayton,
there is nothing that will keep her from further than an arm's
reach of her massive polearm, Gugnir.

4. Darell Racht

  Darell's father was once the lead caravaner for the Alfitaria
caravan.  Setting out on his own once capable of doing so, Darell
is known for his resourcefulness and strength of spirit.  He is
slower to anger than most Lilties, and has been a very strong
addition to the town.  He has a wife (Esta Racht) and they have
brought up two children.
  He's known for being an 'outsider', despite living with the
village for well over fifty years.  He was part of the caravan
forty years back.  It's rumored (and possible) that he initially
came to this town with Cid's caravan.  This is further shown by his
respect for the old man.  The years haven't proven the kindest to
Darell, as he's been plagued with numerous diseases and accidents
over the years.  Fortunately, none have been fatal, although he
isn't even close to fighting condition anymore.

5. Ran Dom Iffin

  Ran Dom Iffin is probably the best known member from the caravan
formed 20 years back.  Preferring fishing, Ran Dom has a knack for
producing whatever was lost just a moment earlier, either by the
opponent or by his allies.  A quiet sort, he doesn't enjoy
conflict, and would rather work in less combat-oriented
professions.
  Ran Dom has no family of his own, despite his older
overachieving sibling commonly trying to get him to start one.  It
is said Ran Dom has a stash of valuables stored away somewhere - a
'King's Ransom', off of which he lives and continually adds.

6. Penn Lak Illich

  Penn Lak's a fierce proponent of individuality, and decidedly
dislikes authority.  She loves the idea of acting of one's own
accord, and believes little in fate and oh-so-much in free will.
Using a pair of dragon claws, she usually makes her own path
instead of following one.
  Penn Lak has mothered two children with her husband, Dehlek Nas
Illich, both of which are going to try for the caravan this year.
The caravan she lead was one forty years back, the same as
Darell and Loren.  She never formed a close relationship with
either of them, although she is definitely respectful of their
talents.  Rumor has it she forced her way onto the council, and
that Cid and Yarksetnik would just as soon be rid of her.

7. Squenix Knackstedt

  Squenix is easily the strangest member of the council.
Deceptively intelligent, she was never the same after the last year
on the caravan with Gwesus.  A cook, alchemist, and many other
things, Squenix has taken on few apprentices over the years.  Those
that do train under her are never quite the same, but one thing is
certain: She is unparalleled in the art of blowing stuff up.
  Squenix's change has generated huge amounts of rumors as time
passed.  Some chalk it up to Miasma poisoning, some say she drank
the myrr, some feel that Gwesus's attitude made her snap, and there
are even more ideas out there.  Gwesus, the only person who possibly
knows the truth, hasn't talked at all and shows no signs of
revealing the information.  Squenix has living parents, and a
brother and sister, but no mate of her own for somewhat obvious
reasons.

8. Yarksetnik Czretzinger

  Collected and cool are two words that accurately describe her. The
quietest member of the council, she's perpetually calm with those
around her, and utilizing a custom-made magecite piece, most of her
quiet speech patterns are amplified so they may be heard, or so it
is said.  One of the newest members on the council, she's shown
signs of being adept in nearly all areas of adventuring and domestic
arts.  Her appearance on the council is a new one: her caravan was
the one that set out 10 years ago.
  Yarksetnik possibly gained the most fame with her sheer ability to
defy the laws of physics.  Using a combination of magecite, items,
and still unrevealed techniques, she's managed any number of feats
regarding infiltration and spying.  Rumor has it she's part of some
mafia, and has some bit of blackmail on everyone in the town.
  Yarksetnik has just settled down with another Yuke, but has yet to
form a family.

-Moogle
9. Mog

  Mog is the first, and only, moogle to ever take seat on the
council.  Having been part of Yarksetnik's caravan, he is cheerful
and chipper, almost to a fault.  He possesses a keen eye for art, and
indeed enjoys all of the humanities, in particular dance.  He's snow
white in color, and prefers a more natural look than the others,
going out draped only in his fur.
  He doesn't generally generate rumors, other than his love of food,
song, and dance have made him easily one of the most likable members
of the council.  Mog has, unfortunately, no known living relatives.

Given years are the year that the caravan was formed.  So Cid is most
likely in his mid-60's, while Mog is the youngest at age 20
