The Journal

All caravans, for as long as memory serves (and even longer) kept a
journal of their travels.  Each caravan starts anew with one, and
it is vitally important that the journal is kept safe, up to date,
and accurate.  Most caravans have at least one writer among them,
and many others who are at least capable of recalling and writing
down the history of their travels.

To this end, the journals are kept safe in the bottom floor of the
village library.  Each is protected by numerous enchantments to keep
the effects of aging to a minimum, as well as the basic protections
vs. heat, cold, water, and acid among other things.

For game purposes, the journal has more pages than you will ever
fill.  After each event that you care to record, one character (or
more) will have the opportunity to write in the journal.  Other
characters can influence what is written by speaking to the writer
(duh).  The journal will be kept open on the main page for anyone to
read.
