Alchemy Alchemy is the art of creating and fusing Magicite, alchemical items, and potions. Alchemy uses Craft (Alchemy) and Knowledge (Arcana) for its operation. Fusing magicite is a tricky business, and can take more mundane, but expensive, components than just the magicite to be fused. For more information on spell recipies, consult the Magic file in the Rules section. To make spell magicite, you must have 1/2 the market price of the spell in materials, and the required magicite to fuse together. The market price of most spells is the spell level squared x 1000 gil. Much Magicite, when used, 'attunes' to the character that uses it first. In these cases, the magicite cannot be used by anyone *but* that person. The craft DC for making most spell magicite is equal to 20 + spell level x 2. Creating alchemical items operates just like it did previously in d20. Consult the 3.5 SRD skill section on Alchemy and the Arms and Equipment Guide for more information on this craft. Finally, Alchemy can be used to create potions. This operates just as the Brew Potion feat, except that instead of using experience, you use a craft check. If you fail the check, you botched and lost all components used to craft the potion. DCs will be determined by me on a case-by-case basis, but I will try to be consistant.
