Crafting Basics To craft anything, you first must find the materials. These materials can range from mundane to exceptionally hard to find. After you have assembled the items together, you then need time and the tools to craft whatever it is that you want to make. Most of the time, you can find such a place in town and rent it for a fee, or if you are at home, you can practice your craft there. Different items take different amounts of time to create. We are not exactly going by the PHB, but rather a 'dramatic timescale' for item creation. Which means I'm going to be the one telling you how much you've completed/etc. Of course, the harder the item and less skill you have, the harder it will be to complete. And if you're not that good, you might even screw up and ruin your materials. If you keep at it, though, you should do just fine. Under most crafts, there's a listed market price in materials other than those required (such as the cold iron for a suit of cold iron full plate). These are the costs for someone creating the items. Most artisans or craftsman will charge twice as much to compensate for their service and time. Families of caravaners usually don't charge for the crafting of necessary equipment for their own members; they simply charge the cost of base materials. Caravaner families will usually charge 150% the cost of base materials (that's 3/4ths for you math majors) to craft an item.
