Session Start: Sat Feb 19 16:42:02 2005 Last time, on Hunters: The team had a bad day at Takeuchi Memorial, as the Club Wars have hotted up again. The Tea Club is insisting they all join. The Anime Club is insisting that everybody should join. And the kidnappings are just getting underway. But back in the real world, there's another crisis brewing - something is happening in Tokyo this weekend. Something involving Hitachi-2osen... who seem to be playing host for a badly battered US Navy carrier this weekend. Will the bugs they planted last night reveal anything? What is Sakura going to tell them to do about it? How does Taki feel about Darkmoon being shoved down her throat as her new sparring partner? Maybe we'll find out, now. [Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 1720 local time] [The Agency] * Kyouko taps her feet and hums the latest L'arc~en~ciel single as she listens to it on her MD player. * Taki arrives early and changed into her casual clothes. [session start, even] * Maya has, as it her habit, come early, mostly to look over paperwork and whatnot. Strangely, the door into the rear is bolted, and with no secretary around she could not get in. * LadyMallet is in plainclothes- for her. Tight-fitting jeans that have a belt that looks like a tail wrapped around the waist, and an overly-large, poofy blue sweater with too-long sleeves. For some reason, she's still got the butterfly wings from her transformed outfit on. * Maya finds herself... triple-checking old expense accounts, then. Mostly out of boredom. * Taki stands against a wall looking down at nothing in particular. * LadyMallet is holding a cup of some kind of coffee, in the folded-over sleeves of her sweater. * LadyMallet waits, and waves at people with her free hand as they come by. * Lord_Darkmoon is just a bit late, walking in wearing his school uniform, jacket buttoned up against he cold. You hear the inner door being unbolted, and your princess pokes her head around it as it opens. o/~ Chi hate made mo nuri tsubasete Sakura! Hi! Sorry, there were a few things we needed to go over privately. * LadyMallet takes another sip of her black caffeinated drink. "We?" Come on in. *she swings the door wide* Heya, Sakura. And it's alright, we understand. * Maya gladly puts those reports away and slips on in. * Taki sounds way too cheery compared to the way she was just standing. * Kyouko heads in, walking almost on the beat. * PrincessSqueegee is waiting on the couch. * LadyMallet walks in normally. And blinks several times at the presence of the other Princess. * Taki walks in smiling at Sakura and then doing quite the opposite when she notice Squeegee. ... ah. Hello, Squeegee. * Maya waves a bit nervously. She obviously wasn't expecting her. * PrincessSqueegee nods back distractedly. * Lord_Darkmoon quirks an eyebrow curiously, a slightly amused expression on his face, until he steps in. When he sees the other Princess, however, his face settles into a carefully formal mask. He bows. "Good afternoon, Princess." * Kyouko turns off her MD player and takes off the headphones. * Haruko walks in late, turning around as she enters to bid farewell to a school friend she had gotten to escort her here. ... oh. Hi. * LadyMallet nods ever so slightly to Squeegee. "Hi." She then turns back to Sakura. Sorry I'm late, Chise wanted to stop for coffee. * PrincessSakura settles back on the couch as well. It's okay, we're late starting. Mostly because I was late getting here. ^^; ... eh. * Maya promptly sits down and waits to be told what's going wrong today. This is about the bugs, isn't it? Did they work okay? * Lord_Darkmoon stands almost at attention in front of the wall next to the door, watching the Princesses. * Taki leans back against the wall, not really wanting to converse with Squeegee unless she absolutely has to. * PrincessSqueegee is dressed in her usual immaculate business suit today. Sakura is dressed formally as well, but is looking a little ragged. * Haruko sits politely and sips from a can of coffee * PrincessSakura rubs her face blearily. Shall I prepare some tea, my Princess? *clearly addressing Sakura* Yeah, they seem to be working fine, except the signal on the Slip 3 offices is a little quirky. That would be nice, Rin. * Taki catches herself staring at Sakura and blushes, averting her gaze back to the floor. Yes, your tea is always the best. * Lord_Darkmoon bows, and heads for the kitchen, from whence the sounds of tea- preparation begin to emerge. * LadyMallet takes a seat somewhere, closer to Sakura than Squeegee. So, Squeegee... what's the occasion? I assume it's work... Anyway, it doesn't really matter too much. It looks like the Slip 3 one might be useful for blackmailing them later, but isn't of direct interest so far. Work. Heh. * LadyMallet glances for a long moment back at the kitchen when Darkmoon disappears in there, then tears her gaze and starts paying attention to the Princess's. * Maya raises an eyebrow in Sakura's direction, but doesn't press the matter. That's good ... What do you mean, "heh"? This is right up their alley. Good, good. * The sounds from the kitchen pause briefly at the mention of "blackmail", but start again less than two seconds later. * LadyMallet doesn't bother looking at Squeegee, but she does pipe up with, "... you say that so easily." Well, it's a bit more forward-deployed than we're used to working. What could possibly happen? ... forward-deployed. Direct force? ... you say -that- so easily, too. * PrincessSakura shudders. "Never ask what could happen in that tone of voice." What could possibly happen... well, lets see. Someone falls, gets kidnapped, our cover could get blown... Me or Darkmoon could -really- lose our temper, or things are soooo much worse than they appear to be. * LadyMallet does look up at Squeegee now. "Don't say that, please." We'd better explain. * Kyouko sighs. Please do. I'm a bit confused. Right, right. Okay. Things are coming together from several different directions here. Sakura tells me that she has... reliable information that something serious is supposed to be happening this weekend. ...I wish she'd tell me where she's getting that from. * LadyMallet gives a slight glare in Squeegee's direction. It's quickly replaced off by an amused, tolerant expression. I'm a Princess now, I get to have secrets too, remember? * Taki just continues to stare at the floor as she listens. * Maya watches the banter, a faint smile creeping along her lips. Do you know what the serious thing is? No... but the timing on that US carrier coming to town makes it look like it has to be related. Any idea what's being brought in? Any? And it's our friends on the bay handling the repairs. So the US are going to invade us with their evil magical girls or something? ... well, if the carrier gets uppity, a nice big hole in it's side should get it to calm down. ...Maya, it's an aircraft carrier. Biiiiiig warship. .... oooooooh. ... well, if the US is going to invade... they're going to have to deal with us. * Maya purses her lips. Because we're, generally, oh so patriotic and dangerous. I'm not... They can't invade - hell, they've flown most of their aircraft off of it for the duration of the repairs. * Lord_Darkmoon steps out of the kitchen, laden tray in hands. "The US has no need to 'invade'; ever since they devastated two of our cities, they've owned us, militarily speaking," he says, almost emotionlessly. Let's not have any knee-jerk hostility, please. * LadyMallet frowns. "The Ningyo have some ties to the docks there, too." * Lord_Darkmoon walks over, and begins serving tea to the assembled people. Beginning with Sakura, to whom he whispers, "Thank you," as he serves her. Then, protocol demanding, he serves the other Princess, then Maya, then the others. Yes, I'm more worried about what Hitachi-2osen / Universal Shipbuilding are going to do with it. * LadyMallet waves off the tea, instead continuing to drink her coffee. Thank you, Rin. * Maya accepts her tea with a nod and a gentle smile. "Have we learned anything yet that would give a clue as to what might happen?" * Haruko does the same * Kyouko sips her tea. ...no. But the Chairman and his assistant had a conversation this morning before they caught a flight to another shipyard. * Taki lets the tea sit next to her as she stands there. The assistant seemed very worried that something would happen that might destroy USC and downtown Tokyo. ... ... a really, really big Ningyo or a tidal wave? That's... not nice to hear. * Lord_Darkmoon carefully sits down, and says nothing. Because he's drinking tea. Yeah, that's why he's saying nothing. * Haruko gasps a bit They didn't say. The chairman was rather dismissive of the idea. All of Tokyo? USC? Universal Shipbuilding. Keep up, Leena. Oh. No, but a pretty huge chunk of it was the implication. Ningyo activity as of late? Should we warn people? ... we should keep all the MG's on alert, at least. Next to none. The Princess Oak thing was the only attack in the last two weeks. If it's big, and we got enough of them there, we might be able to stop it in it's tracks. Some steps are being taken to get most of the girls to the Palace. ... * LadyMallet frowns, and rubs her forehead. "What is it, though?" And if Sakura is right... we may need to. * Maya scowls. "... wait. We might have to clear out the palace?" ... a Ningyo invasion? Why only a smaller area, something arriving or landing or busting out...? * PrincessSakura sips tea, then says quietly, "The US doesn't publicize this, much, but they do have nuclear weapons on their carriers. ... They wouldn't. Nuclear weapons would get more of an area than that, wouldn't they? * Haruko 's eyes widen They leave them unassembled when they come into port to make the legal claim they're not bringing them into our territorial waters. And of course the carrier itself has several reactors for power. * LadyMallet ughs, and rubs her forehead again. "Quit thinking like a MG. They're not." ... * Lord_Darkmoon looks up, sharply. "That's wha--..." He sips his tea. Depends on the size, but it would be a ground burst, which would not knock down the whole city... though it could make for a lot of fallout. Fallout? * Maya shivers. "It would be the perfect time for that sort of thing... and fallout would do far more lasting damage, yes." ... are there any shelters at the docks? Who cares about the *docks*. * LadyMallet frowns. "If they know it's coming, they'll either not be there, or be prepared for it. A shelter ... would that be hard to find?" But why? Like, a new one, or one just put up? What would be the point? Assuming they're just in it for the money? Yeah, it does seem a little strange. It'd start a war with the US. ... uh. ...if the Chairman was so dismissive, what makes you certain that this city would be the ultimate target of this Saturday's venture? I don't think that Hitachi-2osen thinks that's what *will* happen. I get the impression that they're worried about what could happen if things went very, very wrong. ... if they're involved that much, we need to keep up with American politics, too. and they can't think that there's no magic that can block nuclear energy. It could start another world war, something like that. ... the ship. The Ningyo might be hoping the US would destroy Japan, and then come in and claim the remains for themselves. The carrier. It might blow and it's reactors go boom? * Maya rubs her chin. "That's the idea, Leena." I'm worried that this might be some sort of decapitation attempt by the Ningyo, and they just haven't let their air-breathing pals in on it. No, Mallet. Or, yes, that could happen. If something goes wrong. I think... I think the Ningyo plan to steal the weapons on board, not detonate them there. What could they possibly want them for, other than to use them...somewhere of their own choosing? ... and the Ningyo will attack it, most likely. Or at least soften them up. ... So we should stop the carrier from docking. And how do we do that, Taki? I don't know. Sink it. Or make sushi in the harbor. Open fire on it. Which would start the war we don't want. But that would give them a REASON to attack us. ... You're right.. I... don't think we could. It would have to be guarded like crazy. Fighting would cause trouble none of us want... so we might have to protect the damn thing once it's in harbor. The last thing the Queen needs it having a foreign government body on her case. Yeah, and we're working on that plan right now. What about the President of the company? If he's such a bad guy... *cuts herself off* * LadyMallet frowns. "If we just open light fire on it, if the carrier's playing it safe, they'll just get the hell out of there." ... that could go wrong, though. ... and the Ningyo may attack it, anyway, Leena. The carrier is already damaged. Princess Squeegee. Yes? Then we can't directly affect the carrier. The docks, the company, or the Ningyo? * Lord_Darkmoon looks at the girl. "Can you...deprive the Ningyo of a water path to the boat, while leaving it floating?" I'm not teek. Why couldn't the Ningyo just climb over the wall or whatever anyway. We've seen them on land. And the few telekinetics that we have can't lift a millionth of that mass. Yes, but only around water and the flooding they cause. If they are above dry ground they can't levitate. Once it gets to the dock... then maybe. ... if we go into the docks and cause a big mess, put them on alert and on guard, they'll refuse the carrier entry? Like... blow up the dock they plan to repair it in? *snerk* Or they send in the US Marines. Wouldn't you love *that* fight? America has gotten...nervous of late. Perhaps an anonymous letter, threatening terrorist action against the boat? Err. Slip. We will *NOT* antagonize the US. The Queen will not allow it, and besides it would be bad for your health. Well, what about blowing up the slip? To prevent unpleasant local foreign relations, we could sign it as North Korea. ... what the hell would North Korea have to do with it? That would be lying. * PrincessSakura shakes her head. "Stuff can be traced. Attacks can be traced." * Lord_Darkmoon smiles a bit...indulgently...at Haruko's statement. "Yes, yes it would. Politics are all about lying." And any terrorism act would probably just get judged wrong, and investigated anyway. No, no. No -actual- terrorism. Just a threat of it. IF nothing else, they might change docking points. The Ningyo might not be able to get there. ... so, what about blowing up the slip? Well, all of the slips, that way they can't have someone work on the carrier anyway? But. But, but, but. Let's back up here a bit. You guys are not going to be addressing the larger issues here. ... uh? Magical Girls shouldn't get into politics. Yeah. We don't have the manpower for everything that may have to be done. Squeej is bringing us a much more specific assignment. What is it? ... okay. * Lord_Darkmoon takes a deep breath, and lets it out. "What are our orders, Princess?" he asks of Squeegee, very formally. Spill it. See, having the US Navy actually bring shipbuilding or repair business to us is a Big Deal. * Taki looks back down that the ground, mulling things over in her head. So Saturday, early Saturday, when the carrier arrives in Tokyo Bay, a whole bunch of dignitaries are going to boat and fly out to it and do this silly ceremony welcoming them to port. Probably the Prime Minister, a good chunk of the Diet, the mayor... and lots of businessfolk. * LadyMallet nods, slowly. ...which means that I got an invite. ... And she can take a small entourage. ... ... ... okay. So. So we're going to the ceremony? We're there just in case something Bad happens? Some of you are. And yes. Think of it as an opportunity to guard the ship through the Bay. Some of us? Who in particular? There are four slots, and I was going to leave it up to you, Maya. * LadyMallet frowns. "Me, Taki, Haruko, and ... hmm." * LadyMallet mock pouts at Sakura. Now, I am going to be the ranking MG on this trip. Right. * LadyMallet looks at Haruko. "Because you have all that extra firepower if something does go down from lots of vectors at once." THE MALL! *squee* Let's not get too excited. * LadyMallet giggles again, at Sakura. "It's waaaay too late for that." I was thinking of this clothing store by where I live... it's very exclusive and I've never had the money to shop there before but they have the most *beautiful* outfits * Lord_Darkmoon blinks. "I would be happy to go with you, Maya-chan." He even manages a genuine smile. * LadyMallet eyes Darkmoon for a moment, then Maya. But... I'm the one who suggested you should go... So who's going? All of us! We'll get a group picture, too! Look. I don't think that this is as big a deal as Squeegee does. Maya, what's the plan going to be? * Taki looks up at the other girl. * LadyMallet yells cheerfully at Taki, "NO!" Well, it's a matter of choosing four to go on the ship, and letting the others remain close by just in case. * Lord_Darkmoon idly shifts his school uniform to his Lord uniform of a black- and-purple hakama. * Haruko then plops her back down on her shoulders. * LadyMallet doesn't stop giggling, and hugs Haruko back. Yes... The decision should reflect who can put on their best face in the midst of very important and powerful entities... so I'll have to think about it for a moment. Aww. Yes, but you should also consider who would be most useful in various scenarios, if something does happen. I'm... most worried about a Ningyo attack. "On one condition for you. If there is trouble, show some level of restraint. I don't want you accidentally killing a boatload of dignitaries because a Ningyo got your outfit wet." Pfffffft. * Taki nods when she's pointed at. I only overkill when it's for fun. * LadyMallet V's at Maya. "Don't worry!" ... ooookay. And before you bring it up, no, the Warabi mall doesn't count. Nuh- uh. That was an accident, yes. Now... I'd like to go there myself, just to help Squeegee as much as I can if things go poorly. And that leaves... hm. ... Well, Haruko'll be good for if lots show up. ... and Darkmoon's good at the face politics. Kyo-chan cold be useful, since she's a swimmer and all. Boat, water, boiling, ya know?
