Session Start: Tue May 03 19:13:38 2005 [Friday, March 5, 2004 - 1110 local time] [Akamori High School] [session start] It's the morning after for Rin, as well, and she's looking tired as she walks into her last morning class. RIN! RIN! * Kenta comes running down the hall. * Rin blinks, looking over to Kenta calmly, brushing her hair back behind her ear. "Good morning, Sora-kun," she says with a small smile, stopping and waiting for him to get to her. Where are you going! We need to leave for that demonstration I told you about a couple of days ago. * Rin's eyes widen in momentary surprise. "I-- I am sorry! It completely slipped my mind. I will get my kendo gear immediately, Captain." She grins, just a bit impishly, reversing course and walking purposefully, but gracefully, towards the club's storage room. We'll be waiting at the main gate for you. Hurry! * Rin nods, and picks up the pace. At the storage room, she picks up her neatly folded kendo garb and her favorite shinai, and, hugging the clothes to her chest with her book case, she carries the shinai and a black folding fan in her free hand and jogs out to the main gate. Once there, she bows hastily to the others. "I am sorry I am late." It's just Kenta and Natsuki there - and they start walking for the train station immediately. Sheesh, Rin, what the hell is wrong with you? You never forget stuff like this. * Kenta checks his watch. "We'll make it, but it will be close." * Rin blushes a bit, and stifles a yawn. "Long day, late night. I shall not let it interfere again, Sagara-san. Thank you for waiting for me." * Rin waits patiently for Kenta Soramaki, the club Captain, to lead. So, Soramaki... what's this school again? Takeuchi Memorial High. Dunno what Takeuchi it's a memorial for, but it's some rich private girls' school. * Rin bites her lip. Probably stifling another yawn, yeah, that's it. * Natsuki elbows Rin as she climbs on the train. "You ever hear of it? * Rin nods. "A little. It is supposed to be a fine academy. Though their clubs are apparently exceedingly enthusiastic." Well, it's a club demonstration thing that we're going for. You two versus some of them, during lunch, as a recruiting thing. Enthusiastic, huh? Don't worry, I'll beat it out of them. That's... nice. * Rin allows a small smile of bemusement to grace her lips. "It would seem so. Something about the size of a club determining much for it, there." At Natsuki's statement, she actually chuckles. "We shall certainly demonstrate Akamori High School's Kendo spirit most persuasively, Sagara-san." The train ride is pleasant, despite the lunch crowds beginning to push in. You end up at a station that Rin is extremely familiar with, and begin the five block walk to the school. It's up here a ways. Strange that a private school is so far from the station, though I guess maybe they use the bus lines. * Rin does not comment, still following Kenta despite knowing the way herself. It is his place to set the pace, after all. The school itself does not seem terribly impressive - a cluster of buildings in a concrete square. ...is that supposed to be a fountain? It's not *that* cold out that they can't operate it... Mm. I don't see any piping, maybe it's just a strange statue. Oh, well. * Kenta ducks into the building, and into the office. The principal is there to greet you. * Oldman immediately starts tracking Rin with his eyes, even as he speaks to Kenta. * Rin does not return the man's gaze, keeping her eyes properly downcast and a polite smile on her lips. Akamori High, huh? Nice - uh - nice uniforms you have, there. I suppose so... These are the girls who will demonstrate today, Rin and Natsuki. I'll be giving a short explanatory speech with cooperation with your club captain. * Rin bows politely when named. She's on the way here now. Good luck in your match, Rin-chan. And, uh, Natsuki, too. * Oldman goes back to his desk, though Rin can feel his eyes still on her. * Rin demurely replies, "Thank you, sir." She brushes her long hair back behind her ear again, as it fell forward when she bowed. * Natsuki elbows Rin again, and whispers, "Who put that creep in charge of a girls' academy? He hasn't looked away from your chest once since we walked in!" * Rin whispers back, "Hardly subtle, is he? We will not need deal with him much longer; politeness in the face of his obvious weaknesses is our best weapon, Sagara-san. Would that our Kendo foes could be so easily distracted," she winks, her smile briefly turning mischievous. "Pity they'll be fellow women, and thus smarter than that." Come on, Rin, I know you want to kick his ass... I wish to place no portion of myself near enough to him to do any such thing. * Hiroko takes that moment to walk in. "Hi! I'm Hiroko, captain of the Kendo club... If I may show you where to head...? Of course! * Rin turns and bows to Hiroko, and moves to follow her out at Kenta's approving statement. * Hiroko heads right back out the door, leading the small group through the hallway. There are multiple clubs setting up displays here, and the animosity between them hangs in the air like aerosol sodium. * Rin looks around curiously at the displays, taking in this school and it's...charged atmosphere. Her eyes begin to glint with excitement. We'll have some space cleared here, but it may be a bit tight. Watch out for bystanders... and don't get involved if anything untoward happens. Mm. * Hiroko is a little wobbly on her feet - it's obvious from the way she moves that she has some injuries, though not exactly what they are. Uh... is there a lot of that around here? It's just a bad time right now. What happened to you? * Rin moves up just behind Kenta and says teasingly and quietly, so only those immediately in the group can hear, "We are not worried, Sora-kun; we are certain you can protect your women." She then backs off and listens to Hiroko's response to Natsuki. * Kenta blushes and chokes. Er. I had a slight electrical... accident, and fell badly, breaking a rib. ...oh, dear. I am sorry to hear that, Hiroko-san. *pretends not to notice Kenta's blush or choke* I did hope I could spar with you, Kenta-san. I saw you fight in the tournament last year, and was... impressed. But it's not possible now. Oh, well. * Hiroko leads back to the athletic department, and tries to open the visitors' locker room, but it's locked. Um. That's strange... * Hiroko goes to find the athletic director, who unlocks it. "I swear I opened that earlier..." * Rin raises an eyebrow, but does not comment. Anyway, get changed and I'll come to get you when lunch starts. * Rin bows, and waits to follow Kenta and Natsuki into the room. * Hiroko scurries away, groaning as she steps awkwardly. * Rin suppresses a sympathetic wince at the groan. * Kenta waves the girls in. "I'll wait out here for you, of course." * Natsuki gestures rudely. "You'd better stay out here." * Rin sweeps into the room, glancing at Natsuki out of the corner of her eye as she passes her. The locker room is somewhat bare, as most visitors' rooms are, and only the changing area lights are on. Eh. Spooky. * Rin looks for a switch to turn on the other lights. "It just needs the lights turned on." Well, if you see the lights, I gotta pee. * Rin flips on a line of switches when she finds it, and the room lights up. "There! Much better. Go ahead. I'm going to begin changing." * Natsuki ducks into the connected bathroom area, then screeches a moment later. * Rin heads over to the changing area, and carefully lays out her kendo gear. She jumps at Natsuki's scream. "What's wrong!?" * Rin picks her black folding fan up and walks swiftly over to where Natsuki went. As Rin turns the corner, she finds Natsuki... and a man holding a silenced gun to her head. If you shout, I'll kill her. * Rin drops into a defensive stance, fan held out like a weapon. "I will not shout. What do you want?" * Man clicks a button on a radio on his belt twice, and a half-dozen other men come out of the still-darkened shower. ...you're not from this school are you? * Rin 's eyes widen and dart about, and her teeth grit as her breathing gets more rapid. "No," she bites off, "no, we are not." The others pull the tessen away from Rin, and hold her arms. Hmmm. * Rin fights them taking the Tessen, but retains enough control to let it go before too much effort is spent. She fights herself to hold still, not fighting futilely. "What. Do. You. Want." A man mutters something in the leader's ear, and he shrugs. ...not you, apparently. * Rin glares at him. "Then. let. us. go." Was this some sort of impromptu match that got scheduled at the last moment? 'cuz no one is supposed to be using this room. * Rin looks to Natsuki, grinding her teeth together and breathing hard, trying to get enough control over her temper that she can talk without screaming. Hey, just a friendly demo with the locals - recruitment, you know... Kenta told us he got the call on Tuesday... * Rin nods tightly in agreement. Rin has had time enough to eyeball most of the men - there are eight that she has counted now, and a lot of them have heavier guns than the leader - uzis and a few assault rifles. ...let me think. After a moment, he gets out a cell and quick-dials. Sir. A couple of girls stumbled into the hide, but they're from a school across town, here for a sport demo. * Rin jerks once in her captor's grip, but not hard, and not really trying to get away. Clenching her fists tightly and grinding her teeth, she looks around for what they've done with her folding fan. The fan looks like it was tossed onto the bench with her kendo gear. ...yeah, ties into those stupid clubs. Okay, that's a good idea. Puts something of a slight humanitarian spin on this op. There's nothing stupid about kendo club, lout. It is a small man who feels need to insult his captives. *glares at the man, then goes quiet at that confusing statement* * Man hangs up the phone. Not YOUR club, cutie. The ones here. You have NO idea. Okay, we'll let them go, afterwards. After... what? *hissed* You two sit on the floor here, and one of my men will watch you. If you keep quiet, you'll be fine. Is this some sort of Yakuza thing? ... * Man throws Natsuki to the floor, then holsters his pistol. Rin is dumped there as well a second later. Another man takes up position ten feet away, his subgun out and off safety. No. We're... patriots. The lunch bell rings, and the halls outside are suddenly loud. Not so loud that you can't hear Kenta shouting for you to hurry up, though... * Rin moves over next to Natsuki, and growls for a moment. "Are you hurt, Sagara?" she asks, after a deep breath to calm herself. No... but what the fuck is this? Whatever it is, I don't like it. *quietly, tightly* Kenta is getting louder, and more insistent. Strangely, so is the shouting in the hallway. * Man makes a gesture, and one of his men goes to stand by the entranceway. ...you should let us tell him we're hurrying. Or he'll barge in. *taking deliberately slow breaths* I'd rather he did come in. That'll keep him out of the mess, later. * Rin growls and glares. Why do you need these weapons here? What are you planning to do to this school? Kenta has finally waited long enough, and you hear the door open. He comes around the privacy wall, and his eyes go wide as he sees the raiders... then he folds over as the man standing right there clubs him in the gut with his subgun. * Man nods, satisfied, as Kenta is dragged over to the others. I will do what needs doing. You can tell the media that, later. A couple more minutes pass, and then suddenly the shouting in the hallways turns into screams and crashing and other sounds which no one can identify. * Rin leaps to a crouch and almost stands when Kenta's hit, biting off an angry yell, before getting control of herself and forcing herself back down. "I will...tell them something, yes." * Man blinks at the sudden noise. "What on earth..." When it doesn't subside, he dials out again. Um, sir? Did you send... they what? They WHAT? * Man grins and laughs. * Rin ...s at the mans amusement, and tries to see if Kenta is alright. And looks aside at Natsuki, too. Kenta is moaning softly, but seems conscious. Natsuki looks like she's about to boil over, but then again she looks like that a lot, so it's hard to read. Okay, you'll have to decal, and to get those squad cars, but this is simply perfect. * Man hangs up, and winks at the three of you. "As it turns out, you're safer in here already. The clubs are rioting so badly the school called the police." * Rin reaches over and puts her hand on Natsuki's. "We'll get them for this," she whispers, still almost growling. "We need our wits about us." She shakes with repressed fury. "We'll need Kenta to stop being such a wuss, too." They're WHAT!? I told you the clubs here are insane... * Rin DOES jump to her feet. And turn and punch the wall behind her. "You weren't kidding, either! AUGH! WHY ARE PEOPLE SO STUPID!?" She pounds both fists against the wall, now, before realizing she's even risen. She definitely isn't facing any of the men anymore, as she pauses in that position, catching her breath. Whoa, girl. Sit back down. ... ... *sighs, growling* Right, right, big bad men with guns are bosses. Sitting down. *turns around, murder in her eyes, and very, very deliberately sits back down* It's more than a half-hour wait, before the tone of the riot outside begins to change. Kenta is sitting up by now, Natsuki is a boiling cauldron of nerves, and the men are starting to make some preparations. Ten more minutes, and it's entirely quiet. * Rin isn't much better than Natsuki, trembling with not-really-contained rage. * Man looks tense, but when his cell buzzes, he doesn't jump. "Yeah? Scenario alpha? Good. Yes sir. Thank you, sir." * Man sighs as he puts the cell back in his belt. What's going on now? We have mission confirmation, guys. Let's get going. * Man hands his pistol off to the man guarding the three captives, and takes the subgun in return. * Rin pounds the floor with her fist - a quiet, meaty sound that probably draws no attention - at her question being ignored. It's showtime. Fortunately for you three, you're not invited. * Rin pointedly looks away from the man, hmphing. Two men roll a heavy-looking cart of equipment out of the showers and out the door. The rest, except the guard, follow. Ta, kids. Have a good life. The door closes behind him, leaving the four of you alone. * Rin watches the man and his cronies leave with hate-filled eyes. When there's just the one left, she closes them, and takes a minute to try to calm herself. She clutches Natsuki's hand while doing this, trying to get the other girl to collect herself as well. Mmmmmm. Just as well for me, I didn't really want to see what happens next. Well. This should take a little more than an hour, and I don't feel like standing the whole time. * Rin opens her eyes with a sigh, and loosens her tie. She looks up at the guard, as well as past him at Kenta. * Guard gestures slightly. "Get up, slowly, and sit on the benches out there." * Rin does so, very slowly, teeth grinding audibly. * Natsuki gives him the finger, but complies, pulling a still-woozy Kenta behind. * Rin moves to sit next to her stuff, and pats the bench on her other side. * Guard follows them carefully, then sits ten feet away. *whispered* Sagara-san, Soramaki-kun, are you two okay? Kenta kind of moans, then nods. Fuck, fuck, fuck! Come on, Sora-kun... your women need you. Dammit, Rin, you know full well you're too good for me. Don't get any bright ideas about those practice weapons, kids. I can shoot you before you can stand up. * Rin sighs. "I am sorry, Sora-kun. But Sagara-san and I need your help, and your wits about you. We all need our wits about us." She blatantly ignores the guard. YOU didn't just have some ribs snapped. * Kenta has one hand behind his back, and taps the bench five times. * Rin winces. "I am so sorry. I am sorry, I am not fair to you, Sora-kun." She swallows. And then tilts her head nigh-imperceptibly at his gesture. I can barely breath right, and there's something screwy happening in my abdomen. Rin feels four taps. Huh. Well, then, you may die, so let me take this opportunity to tell you you're a total wuss. * Rin reaches beside her and takes her folded fan into her hand, and starts holding it idly. "You'll be okay." She does not react visibly to the taps, but once more tips her head slightly. "We'll all be okay." Three taps - this time they're in unison from Natsuki and Kenta. * Rin gets ready to tap the bench with her free hand in time with the other two, twice this time. Just... don't strain yourself, Soramaki-kun. Rin, you take care of things if ...that happens. I don't want this harpy's help, even if it's just pulling my corpse out of here. * Rin taps twice, in unison with Kenta and Natsuki. "Yes, my Captain." Why does Rin always get to call the shots. Oh, I know, she's the cute one. The three of you are almost too nervous to keep the single tap silent. Natsuki pulls her legs back under the bench - Kenta keeps his position, which appears to already be suitable for a leap. * Rin braces for the beat to jump, something feral gleaming in her eyes. Aw, isn't this too cute. Nobody's going to die here, not unless you're stupid. There's a dead moment, as Kenta smiles at Rin. * Rin smiles back, almost baring her teeth, and... * Rin leaps to her feet, along with the other two as they rush him. Her folded iron fan flashes forward, becoming a katana in mid-swing as she brings it around for a decapitation strike, while Kenta and Natsuki try to deflect his gun and pin his arms. It's too well-coordinated for the guard to respond coherently to, and his single shot only grazes Rin's thigh. Her strike goes slightly high, and while she doesn't have the strength to cleave completely through his skull, the katana is sharp, and goes about halfway through, two centimeters above the eyebrows. * Rin pulls it out as smoothly as she can, hissing in rage at the pain in her thigh. "...he's dead." * Kenta sprawls to the floor, while Natsuki ends up crashing into the guard's bench. * Kenta catches a glimpse of the damage and Rin's weapon as he rolls over. "OI. Where did THAT come from?" * Rin takes a moment of tooth-grinding to collect herself, and turns the Katana back into a Tessen, letting the brains and blood fall to the floor. "...Sagara, Kenta, are you okay?" * Natsuki is somewhat spattered with blood. "Yiiiiick." Fine, fine. But... that sword! What sword? She's good with that tessen, though. Never seen one used seriously before. * Rin walks over and offers Natsuki a hand up. "...I--" she swallows. "We've got to get out of here. Soramaki-kun, can you take --no, they will probably be all over the school." The sound of spraying gunfire can be heard from down the hallway. It is a woman's weapon, sometimes picked up by men who know a good thing when they see it. --NO! ...but - sword - just th- yow! Don't care - I'm leaving. I-- I have friends who go here. I'm worried about them. I-- no! NOW. Natsuki, we've got to leave carefully! ...no. Soramaki-kun, please take care of Sagara-san? I-- I'm going to find out what's going on. Rin... * Rin grips the Tessen tightly. "I've got to. If this is what I think it is... " Fine, you go waste your life. I'm going to kill them ALL. *almost shouting with fury* Rin! * Rin turns to look at Kenta, the rage in her eyes lessening a bit. "Take care of Sagara-san, please. She and you will need to work together to get out. Don't get killed, please. Both of you?" You're nuts! Bye, Kenta. I-- I'll owe you this explanation, okay? *darts out the doors, lips pulling back in a feral snarl as she exits* Don't go - I don't care if you've got a magic sword, you'll- [end session]
