[Sunday, October 20, 2081. Time: 8:00 am. Ish. Or 0800ish, if you're into that sort of thing.] [Keiko is making her way towards Heinrick's office. Who happens to be right inbetween the other two guardian's offices! The door did evidently get a name plate that says "Dr. Engels" on it, but, true to his word, it seems Heinrick put a post-it note on his door anyways. Just in case they forgot. The door is currently closed.] [Session Start!] * Keiko is dressed in a black dress today... but still very simple, with a somewhat modest cut, the silver collar still on, and the duck in her arms. She sees the note a moment, narrows her eyes just slightly, and it floats off the door to land in her upturned hand. She then opens the door the same way, before pushing it open with her shoulder. [The office is decent-sized, a little smaller than the dorm rooms, but it only needs one person in it usually so it seems roomier. In it, there is a coat-rack, file cabinet, shelves (without books on it yet), a wastebasket, computer, and desk. On the other side of the desk are two chairs for sitting in.] * Heinrick doesn't look up from the computer screen, sitting in his chair behind the desk. He's rubbing his right arm slightly and his duster is currently off and on the coathooks. His left hand is holding a mug of something hot, probably coffee. "It's customary to knock when you enter into someone's office." (Err, scratch the left hand. Right hand is holding it currently. Left hand is doing the rubbing.) * Keiko smiles slightly, knocks, then walks past the door, closing it behind her. "You were expecting me." * Heinrick turns towards her a moment curiously. His glasses are off for the moment, so the tint isn't covering his eye color anymore, so she can see they're yellow. He settles back in his chair and shrugs amused. "Still, there is a certain amount of procedure to be followed. Otherwise where would society be?" He gestures to the chairs. "Please. Have a seat." * Keiko tilts her head at the eye color, then moves to the chairs and sits down. Once she does, she says, "This... isn't society." * Heinrick smiles at that. "Perhaps not. But it is another home. In a way, it is a prison for all of us. Speaking of which, could you pick up the note that you dropped on the way in? It wouldn't do to litter on your first official day." (It landed in her hand.) (Ah! Missed that. ^^; Disregard everything after "Speaking of which" then) So then, I'm curious of your opinion of just what exactly this *is*, Ms. Hanano. * Keiko looks right at Heinrick and says, flatly, "A place to be used." * Heinrick sips on his coffee, looking not so much at Keiko, but in her general direction. "Used? In what way?" * Keiko looks to the side. "Command us, mold us, use us. Control and the others have made it... really clear." She looks back to Heinrick. "And they believe it." And, from this statement, you do not, I take it. * Keiko chuckles very weakly, looking down at her duck a moment, then says, "I believe they'll..." she trails off, and looks to Heinrick. "...you'll do it." And yet you're not afraid that such candor might get you in trouble? * Keiko says, quietly, "If they mean to hide it, they're doing a poor job of it." Then she tilts her chin up. "Will it get me in trouble with you?" * Heinrick looks at her, a faint hint of amusement in his expression. "We have yet to see. At this point, I asked for an honest answer. You gave me an honest response. You have been following your guardian's instructions admirably." * Keiko smiles faintly. "It's easy when we agree." She tugs at her collar a moment, then smooths that free hand over her dress, hugging the duck to her chest. * Heinrick reaches for his glasses and puts them on his face, pushing them up with his left middle finger. "Tell me. What do you think of your other teammates so far? What are your impressions?" * Keiko says, flatly, "Haruko, or Ten, is crazy." Beat, then she looks away. "And Luana is too nice for... this." (Hotaru. It's Hotaru.) (Isn't it?) * Heinrick tilts his head at that. "And you are just perfect, I imagine?" (Yeah. I don't know why I keep confusing it.) (It is Hotaru, yes.) * Keiko rubs her stomach with that free hand and murmurs, "No. But I am not of two minds." Just of your own and everyone else's. So, I suppose the room assignment is working out for you then. If they are so "crazy." * Keiko smiles faintly a moment, then lets it slip away. "It wouldn't matter. Either of them would be fine. Zarina is too." * Keiko looks him right in the eyes. "Lots of people are crazy. Doesn't mean as much as you think." * Heinrick gives a curt nod. "That said, you will need to interact with them. Practice with them, learn with them sometimes. It would be far too easy to seperate yourself, but that will make you lost when we have to work together. I would hate to have to find a replacement so quickly." * Keiko looks at him a long moment, then says, "You... don't seem to understand. She's crazy. That's not a problem. It's... true." (That line amuses me too much.) * Heinrick turns to look at Keiko more fully. "Perhaps. But that is Ms. Tavares's job. *YOU* are mine." * Heinrick leans back in the chair, slightly. "However..." * Keiko doesn't respond to his assertive belief that she is his job. Probably because he's right. She does pat the duck's head idly, though. You are also in a unique position to tell us of any...internal instabilities that arise as well. In that case, I would like you to report it to me. I will see to it that the appropriate guardian hears such reports." ( GOTTLIEB'S RUNNING LUANA RAGGED! ) * Keiko blinks a moment, then says, "You want me to say if they're breaking?" * Heinrick gives a faint smirk, voice full of forced sympathy. "Breaking is such a harsh term..." * Heinrick then stands slowly, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Actually, I would rather an objective report of exactly what you see. Keep your impressions out of it as much as possible." * Keiko frowns, then says, "Fine. I'll..." she pauses a moment, then finds the words, "... help protect your investments." * Heinrick quirks a brow. "Oh? My investments? I wasn't aware I had *money* invested in this project." * Keiko sighs and looks away as she explains, "It's an english phrase. It comes out better in English." Still. I am not the company. You would do well to remember that. * Heinrick walks over to the door slowly, hands still in his pockets and opens it with his left hand. "Shall we?" (You didn't want to run into us, right?) * Keiko tilts her head, then says, as she stands, "If you do everything they say... how do I tell?" She puts her fingers to her forehead, and then points at Heinrick's forehead. (Nah. Where'd you guys go again?) (ze gym) (Ah. Okay.) (Changes plans slightly but no biggy.) (Ve haf been up und at zem fohr qvite a vhile.) (We're probably gonna be there until nineish, and then go to breakfast. Then whatever else I said.) * Heinrick doesn't seem to be answering her question any time soon. Or lowering his defenses. (Formal mental evaluation.) (Right. And then other stuff.) (Involving doom. And possibly crackers.) * Keiko doesn't do anything else, then! She's standing, though! We'll start in the holoroom then. There is something I would like to check. Would you throw away that note for me? * Keiko glances over, then drifts the note over to the trash can with her TK as she walks out. * Heinrick closes the door once they head out. To the holoroom! (And since Keiko's actually been there before, you can probably describe it better.) [The holoroom is a domed room that looks not unlike a giant Holywood blue screen all around. There's a window for observation above on one of the walls.] (That's about it!) (That works.) * Heinrick inputs data in the computer from the information he got from his printouts earlier, then opens the doors, walking up behind Keiko. "You first." * Keiko heads in, tensing slightly as she does and looking around. Empty rooms suck. * Heinrick walks in a little bit after, hands tucked away in his pockets. His footsteps are a little softer but still audible. "Tell me. What was your impression of your combat here? I heard that you won. Congratulations." * Keiko bows slightly. "Thank you." Beat. "Luana attacked Hotaru first, possibly because I had befriended her earlier... and then I just held back." A pause, then, "I was surprised the animals came, but glad for it." * Heinrick raises an eyebrow at that. "Oh?" * Keiko gestures around with a weak smile. "This isn't real. How... does one call the assistance of squirrels that don't exist?" * Heinrick smirks slightly, head tipped to the side. "Indeed, this is a harrowing environment. But I meant more the first." * Keiko mms, and shrugs noncomittally. "We... talked." Beat. "It went well." Befriending your opponent is an interesting tactic. Do you use it often? * Keiko licks her lips nervously. "I... haven't had many opponents." * Heinrick keeps the smirk. "Of course." After that, he raises his head to look at her. "I agree. You were lucky." He pulls his right hand out of his pocket. In it is one of the kitchen knives from the cafeteria, which he throws at her. * Keiko 's eyes widen for a few seconds, her arms tightening on the plush... and then she's calm. Unless he's got superstrength, it tinks off of the force-field. * Heinrick sighs and shrugs his hands in the air. "Good reaction time. But you've already used that trick. I'm disappointed." * Keiko tilts her head, then says, "It works. I like things that work." * Heinrick walks over and picks up the knife before putting it back in his pocket. "It does. But you can't always depend on it. Just as you can't always depend on your telepathy to tell you when something is going to happen." * Heinrick turns around and looks back over his shoulder. "Or do you use that to anticipate other people's moves?" * Keiko shakes her head. "I don't... extend myself all the time." * Heinrick looks at her. "Tiring?" * Keiko shakes her head. "Dangerous." Oh? * Keiko is silent a moment, then nods. "Yes. Emotions are... safe. Thoughts are not. And..." she trails off, then finishes, "Thoughts are not." * Heinrick nods. "Very well. However, your report says that you *do* get tired if you overuse that protective barrier of yours. So our first task will be to develop an alternative." * Keiko frowns, "I don't need an alternative, it's just... too much." She does not look comfortable explaining this stuff. Hmm. Perhaps I *will* need to seek a replacement then... * Keiko frowns and protests, "That's not what I..." she exhales noisily. "The words for this suck!" * Heinrick smiles. "" * Keiko replies, in _Japanese_, {I made them up in Japanese.} * Heinrick rubs his chin. "Hmm. Something I need to study then." * Keiko rubs her head and says, "You don't... it's... I've never met anyone else with words for it. For... this." She looks away. "It's never easy to explain, and you... are just a void." * Heinrick nods and turns around. "Regardless, it is not your shield I wish to test. It is your telekinesis. Do you think you can grab a moving target?" * Keiko exhales and says, "Yes... but my telekinesis is like my arms." The knife on the ground shakes a moment, and then slowly rises. (He picked up the knife.) (Oh! Ha.) (Missed that.) (Strike the knife picking, then.) * Heinrick nods. "We'll focus on that for today then. Depending on how you do, we might do other training before lunch time." * Keiko nods slowly and says, "Just... hold onto your glasses." * Heinrick chuckles. "No, I'll be in the control room directing it. We'll start slow." He exits the holoroom. After a bit, some targets pop up and some floating balls appear to move at Keiko. (And we can end there, unless you've got something special to do.) (Well, uh... eventually, it won't work. In a bad way.) (Right. ^^) (No, I mean, Backlash.) (I know.) (Okay.) (That's part of why he's trying to train it!) (And by 'train it' you mean 'Play multiball a sixteenth of the time, knocking the balls all about the room?' ^_~) (Yep!) (Hooray! That she can do.) [Session End!]
