[Day: October 19, 2081. Time: 3:30.] [Hey! It's the same time!] [You guys have just finished your meeting with Erik Graf, and were instructed to wait for Lydia Sohn to show up at the lounge on the second floor. That's where you are.] [Ready go!] * Gottlieb waits in the lounge as instructed. * Roseli waits, idly checking her watch. * Heinrick sits crosslegged, taking out his pipe and tapping the ashes into an ashtray on the table. * Roseli pulls out her file on Hotaru and starts flipping through it. * Heinrick sighs and puts his pipe away, taking off his glasses and wiping them with a corner of his coat. "They certainly are not giving us much study time, are they?" No. * Roseli turns a sheet over and starts reading the back. I expect as much as the battles were our ward's tests, our training of them will be ours. * Roseli shrugs and looks up from her folder to see the two men. "Not worried. Are you?" * Gottlieb smiles faintly. "Not unduly." * Heinrick mms and puts his glasses back on before sitting back in the chair, pulling out Keiko's folder and looking it over more thoroughly. "Not at all." * Roseli nods, popping her gum and going back to the folder. "Hope the control mechanism is good." Do you expect her to attempt to attack you? If I were her? Give it a shot. Just to see whether or not you could? * Heinrick rubs the bridge of his nose. "Indeed. Anyone being controlled is bound to be resentful if given a chance." * Roseli chuckles. "Yeah." * Gottlieb grins again. "Ahh, yes." [The elevator opens, and a woman steps out. She looks to be in her late thirties, and roughly average height. She wears a pair of half-moon glasses and a business suit with skirt. A clip holds her brown hair back. She looks to you each in turn. "Ms. Tavares? Mr. Engels? Mr. Kerner?"] * Gottlieb nods to the woman politely. "Yes?" * Heinrick looks up at the voice and inquires curiously, "Yes?" [She holds out a hand to shake. "I'm Lydia Sohn. Pleased to meet you."] * Gottlieb shakes the proffered hand! "And you as well. Gottlieb Kerner." * Roseli looks up and ahs. She gives Lydia's hand a shake. "Nice to meet you." Pause, then grin. "You can guess who I am." * Heinrick looks at the hand for a moment and smiles slightly himself, shifting a little before leaning forward with his own right hand a bit slowly. "I suppose that would leave me as Dr. Engels then." [Lydia shakes each hand with a slight smile. Once that's done, though, it's back to business. "I assume Mr. Graf briefed you on all of the details, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, shall I show you to your offices?"] * Roseli nods. "When do we meet the girls?" * Gottlieb inclines his head. "Please do." And a full tour of the facilities might do well. I mean, it is good to know where things are but different if you don't know the potential. ["They were instructed to head to their rooms after they finish eating, and await further orders. Ideally, you'll be introduced soon after they unpack."] * Roseli nods. "Good." [Lydia nods. "In time."] Very well. I saw Hotaru's file. She doesn't know German? ["She can speak it, but not so well. It's something to work on."] Hm. Noted. How certain are you that the programming is effective in Keiko's case and not a function of her making you think it is? * Heinrick snaps closed the folder now. He was looking at it during the interval. [Lydia tilts her head. "Explain?"] Well, if I were a telepath who would try to control people's mind, I would alter their memories to think I was being more compliant than I was, wouldn't you? [Lydia nods. "We've prepared the building for that. Her mind control ability will not work while the security grid is up. Holoroom excepted, that is."] * Heinrick nods. "Alright. I suppose that will do." ["Take care how you discipline her, though. We wouldn't want any accidents to happen in public."] * Heinrick pushes his glasses up. "That is why that was my first concern." [Lydia nods. "While it's not impossible to replace the operatives, we mustn't do so unless absolutely necessary. Aside from the costly process of modification, a new operative would need additional training. Therefore, it is imperative that we get the ones we have to work."] * Roseli flips through the file some more, then closes it. "Makes sense." [She nods. "Furthermore, we won't get any more operatives for a long time. Not until we can prove that the project is worthwhile."] * Heinrick tilts his head at that. "Oh? Funding is short then?" [Lydia shifts her weight. "The government won't spend a big budget on a project that hasn't proven its worth. Convincing them of this is almost as much our job as fighting the terrorists."] ["We can't just win. We have to win big."] I'd say more. Projects like this go down easy. Very risky. [Lydia nods. "Especially this one in particular. We're not only proving ourselves to our own government, but to the entire world."] * Heinrick lets out a deep breath. "We cannot fight terrorists if there is no organization around to fight them." * Roseli grins at Heinrick. "We *are* the organization." ["The would be. Our budget would likely go to section 1, where they would battle terrorists the traditional way."] * Heinrick smiles at that. "Well, we are *part* of it, yes. But possibly the more cooperative side." ["The problem is, 'traditional' doesn't mean best."] * Roseli nods to Lydia. "Useless to some things." [She nods.] * Roseli fingers her bracelet. "So. Offices?" ["Also, there's Section 3 to consider. They believe both Hotaru and Keiko should be in their branch."] (Swap those two.) [Lydia nods. "Right, let's show you to your offices." She starts down the hall to the north.] * Heinrick nods to the others. "Shall we?" [You pass the men's and women's rooms, as well as the first briefing room. Lydia gestures to it as you go by. "As long as we're here, I should point out this to you. This is one of the two briefing rooms we have, although you can also use them for tutoring if necessary. There may be times when you want to train your wards together, after all."] * Roseli nods. "Right." ["It's equipped with most everything you'd expect to find, including a blackboard, TV and a holodevice." ] How do we request more supplies? ["You can just tell me, or call one of the maintenance people. You'll find a list of numbers in your offices." She continues on, turning the corner.] Okay. * Roseli keeps following! Hooray! * Heinrick nods and looks around silently, arms behind his back in a whole non- evil-plotting sort of way. * Gottlieb follows quietly, looking around and keeping track of the details. [You're lead to a corner with seven doors on your left. They sure look like offices. There's even name plates on the sides. The first three you pass read "Gertrude Himmel", "Gabriel Winterbaur" and "Karin Oswald".] [Lydia stops at the fourth door. "This one will be Roseli's office. Then Heinrick's is next, and then Gottlieb's. The last one down is mine."] * Gottlieb nods. "Thank you." * Heinrick nods. "Thank you." * Roseli just nods. She's thankless! ( STOP IT YA WHIPPERSNAPPER. D: ) (-_^) (Riiight.) (XD) ["Right now they're equipped with a desk, a chair for you and your ward, a filing cabinet and a computer you'll hopefully find adequate for your needs. If you need anything else, let me know."] * Gottlieb nods. "Very well." Understood. We have keys? Alright. How long would that usually take? [Lydia nods to Roseli. "You'll find them on your desks." She turns to Heinrick. "That depends on what you ask for. Office supplies we have in storage. Most basic stuff we can get in a few days, maybe a week at most. But if you want anything particularly expensive or hard to come by, you'll have to purchase it yourself."] * Heinrick nods. "I'll be asking for some office supplies later then." Are there any restrictions on what we're allowed to bring in from outside? (No dogs, Gottlieb.) (Oh yeah? What if I need her to make me a hot dog? 8D) (This is a research facility using genetic engineering. Be very careful how you ask that.) ["No animals, weapons or explosive items. If you bring a weapon, you must store it in the armory located in the basement."] (Dude. We're Customs' anti-terrorism unit.) ( You generally don't invite terrorists to your HQ for a firefight :P ) * Gottlieb smiles faintly. Again. "Excellent, then." All questions answered, I think. So far, at least. [Lydia nods. "Good."] Anything else? * Heinrick takes the time to go and pick up his key. Might be a good idea. [Lydia shakes her head. "Nope. Get yourselves situated, and then we'll see about introducing you to your wards."] All right. Thanks. * Roseli heads for her office. For great keyness! [The office is... decent size, you could say. Like, um.... Hm.] [You could fit about four elevators in it!] * Roseli takes a look around, checks the computer, opens cabinets and drawers, and so on. Assuming everything is in order, she grabs her key and heads on out, locking the door behind her. [They each have the stuff Lydia described, plus a window and a coat rack.] (Swap those.) [The drawers have some basic office stuff. The computer is a few years old. Good enough for basic stuff, but not for memory-intensive programs and things.] * Heinrick hangs up his duster and checks everything as well. He doesn't leave just yet, booting up his computer. [It boots up a copy of Windows Veranda.] [Nothing seems trapped.] * Heinrick starts to search the database for more general information on the facilities. What it has to offer, contents of their lab, gym and holo equipment, etc. (Any chance I can rush ahead and go say hi to Hotaru? ;P I'm just trying to get things done and then Z.) (How about bugged?) (Sort of idling here.) [Nothing bugged either.] ( rushing ahead of the boss isn't very business like :( ) (That's why I haven't been.) (Hang out in our offices! We're great conversationalists!) * Gottlieb does a perfunctory walkthrough of his office, sets his bag down, picks up his key and leaves, locking the door behind him. [You're all now impatiently waiting for Heinrick. Heinrick, meanwhile, does find a list of most of the facilities and their equipment, but damned if I'm going to go through them all now.] * Heinrick does a printout for later, and then leaves his office, locking the door. * Heinrick does grab his duster on the way out though! [Lydia waits til he's out. "All set?"] * Roseli looks at Heinrick. IS HE? * Gottlieb nods. Young whippersnappers can take their own time. Everything seems to be in order. ( He should change his name to Hendrick. ) (No he shouldn't.) (Also, I thought that's what "get yourselves situated" meant anyways. ^^; Oh well.) [Lydia nods. "Then let's introduce you to your wards." She starts down the hall, back the way you came. 'Cause the other way is a dead end, obviously.] * Roseli goes! * Gottlieb grins. "Excellent." He stops short of rubbing his hands, though. 'Cause he's not creepy like that. (He's creepy in different ways.) (Exactly! XD) * Heinrick shakes his head amused. "Always in a rush. Ah well." He follows along at his own leisurely pace. [You head back down the hall. About the time you get to the hall, you come across a woman who should be familiar if you were watching the other channel, but if not, here's a C&P desc:] [She's a young woman in her early twenties, wearing a black suit and trenchcoat, with what looks like a lightning bolt over the breast pocket. The woman herself is of average height, with straight-falling waist-length blond hair. And glasses, too!] * Roseli nods to the woman as she passes. Rock on. [She grins as she approaches. "Hey Lyds."] * Gottlieb nods politely as well. [Lydia just stops. "Iris. What are you doing here?"] * Heinrick doesn't nod. Because the woman's talking to Lydia, not him. But he does stop walking. [Iris grins. "Checking in on my sis. You've got her rooming with Sebastian now, I noticed. He's not going to do anything inappropriate, right?"] [Lydia scowls. "Don't be absurd. Even if he wanted to -- which I doubt - - the conditioning won't allow it. We're well prepared for the circumstance."] * Heinrick quirks an eyebrow and looks at Lydia. [Iris keeps her grin, but something in her eyes seems to betray a spark of anger at Lydia's comment. "He'd better not. I wouldn't want anything to happen to Section 2."] [Lydia smiles. "I'm sure you wouldn't. You came to us, remember."] [Iris frowns. She glances at the rest of you. "So, are you guys the new guardians?"] We are. And you? That is what we are told, yes. [Iris salutes, in a casual manner. "Iris Koenig. I'm the reason we have a Section 3."] Psychics? Indeed. It must feel important to be a reason behind an entire sector. * Gottlieb touches the bridge of his nose in a gesture indicating recognition of her salute, but not much else. "Do you mean that literally?" [Iris holds up a finger. "Psychic. Just one." She grins. "There's a reason we're not active yet. I'm the only psychic in the roster."] Ah. I see. * Roseli smiles a little. "Nice to meet you. Roseli Tavares." Gottlieb Kerner. [Lydia nods. "And if you came here thinking to take our new operatives, I've got news for you. You're going to remain the only one."] [Iris starts to smile until Lydia speaks, then she scowls. "Please, I don't care about them. You know I only came to check on my sister."] [Lydia nods. "Then you should talk to Karin. I believe she's in her office."] [Iris glares at Lydia. "I think I will." She moves past. "Nice to meet you three."] * Gottlieb inclines his head again as she passes. [Lydia rolls her eyes. "Moving on..." And she does. Move on, that is.] * Roseli gives Iris a wave and moves on as well! * Heinrick nods his head slightly and watches her leave, then looks at Lydia. He starts to say something but ends up shrugging and moving on. [You turn the corner, where you are confronted with... three dorm rooms on your right! Dun dun dun...] (Noes!) [Lydia explains: "The first room is shared by Cyra Koenig and Sebastian Muller from Red team. Luana Hall and Hotaru of Blue team are in the next, and Keiko Hanano is in the last, with Zarina Nahr of the Red team."] * Gottlieb nods. "I see." All right. ["Shall I call them out for you, or would you like to do it personally?"] Personally is fine. Thank you. [She nods. "Alright."] * Roseli heads for the second room. * Gottlieb follows.
