[You exit the interrogation room!] * Luana heads off to their bedroom to grab her computer. ( The GM wonders why there's no computer lab. D'oh! ) (Because all the computers are in the security room, or labs, or so on.) (Nobody _needs_ a generic computer room.) (Everyone's got their own, or a specialized one.) (So we go back to our room and Lu's laptop?) [By coincidence, Ten and Luana eventually end up in the same place.] (Huzzah coincidence!) * Luana starts researching! (What do I need to roll?) ( Something! ) ( Proooobably.... Databases should work, I think ) ( Computers: Databases, that is ) 2d8-3 (Made by 6) (Made by 7) (Stupid computer goddess, doing better than me... *grumblegrumble*) (Well, you're researching different things!) [Luana quickly finds some info by cross-referencing past articles in the Daily Star, the newspaper Bachmann worked for. A bit more than two weeks ago, Bachmann wrote an article criticizing Cayil. The article accuses him of being a womanizer; he has two ex-wives, and all five of his bodyguards are female. The article even suggests that he had a hand in convincing one of the bodyguards to undergo genetic modification to make her loo ( That get through? ) (make her loo) look more appealing.] (Is the Daily Star reputable or a tabloid?) [The article goes on to criticize the one first-party game to be released at the launch of the Emperor Console: Nighthawk, a very graphically violent game. Given Cayil's involvement in anti-violence movements, Bachmann questions his character for producing such a violent game.] ( It is and it isn't. It's obviously a tabloid that tries to dig up dirt on celebrities. ) [Over on Ten's side... ] [Ten finds biographies about Hector Cayil. He was born in 2036 in South Africa to a poor family of twelve. In 2041, when the Bauers were vacationing in the country, Hector saved their life by leading them to safety from a gang war.] (Such a nice guy!) (Also, wtf siblings.) [The Bauers were so grateful, they offered to adopt Hector. The Cayils, being as poor as they were, readily accepted, and Hector moved to Bremen, where the Bauers lived at the time.] * Luana has quit IRC (Quit: Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com) [Hector attended a prestegious school right alongside Wolfgang Bauer, and they remained at the same schools all the way through college.] (Clearly Wolfgang was training him up) [Hector graduated with an engineering degree, and was going to go to grad school when he was approached by a music agent.] [He produced some decent hits for the first two years, then took a year off to join the army. But it was after his service ended that his career really took off. From 2058-2069, he dominated the charts. He also produced some films during this time.] ( Errr... Wait, those numbers don't add up. ) (Math is hard!) ( Should be more like 2062-2073 ) [Anyhow, as he got older, his musical career declined, and he decided to drop it and become a spokesperson for various charities.] [And then in 2080, he started Cayiltech.] [Ten also finds that because of his close association with Wolfgang Bauer, Cayil has been the target of a number of assassination attempts, and has taken to having bodyguards, as well as armed security at his mansion and his company.] * Ten makes note to check up on that security. [As far as Cayiltech goes, Ten finds that the Emperor is their first big project. The technology is well beyond any of the other systems out there. The units went on sale just today, December 21st, worldwide, but they don't have online capabilities yet. Online support gets activated in Germany ONLY on December 25th. The rest of the world doesn't get it until New Year's Day.] [In a public statement, Cayil has said this is "To honor my brother, Wolfgang, and hopefully help him relax from some of the stress he's been suffering recently."] [And finally, Ten finds that there is going to be a private demonstration of the Emperor tonight, at 10:00 p.m., right here in Berlin.] ( Ten could do some hacking into Cayiltech for more info if she wants, though, but that leads to possible detection.] ) (She'll go for it, public stuff first, like the location of the demo.) [It's at Nebelheim Park, which is actually a park inside a dome. So it's like being outside, but you're inside and there's no bugs or animals.] [It's a private demo, however. Invitation only.] * Ten isn't worried, a goddess goes where a goddess wants to.(That and Keiko is amaizing for smoothing over little problems like that.) She does check on the number of invites to see how much an extra group would stand out. ( That's where we're going to need to start hacking. And here's how I'm going to run it: ) ( Roll me a hacking roll. The number you make it by is the number of files you can look through before you're caught. ) (kk) (Hmm, actualy... I've got a question, can I farm out to the AIs I bought?) ( Buh? ) ( What do you mena? ) (The description of Artificial Intelligence in the items, I was just rereading it as Ard drove up here) (No, wait, nevermind. I miscosted them. I'll have to fix later.) ( I'm still not sure what you're trying to do. They can't help you hack. ) (They grant statbonuses if they assist with a skill roll, but they're supposed to be major gadgets and I paid for minor) (So I'll roll without them.) (6) ( Ok, so you can look through six files ) (Do the indexes count as files?) ( I'ma give you options, you can choose from 'em. ) (kk) ( Hmm, might be easier if you just name what you wanna know ) ( Stuff like private info on the reception, mansion security, building security... there's a file on each bodyguard.... I dunno, you come up with a topic and I'll let you know. ) (Okay, want to know about the invites and the plans for the event, want general knowlage about mansion security, look for a real reason for the online delay, and... oh, Hector's schedual for the next week) [There are 500 people going to the reception: close friends of Hector's business partners and a handful of reporters.] [The mansion has about ten guards, each armed with uzi's. There's also two security class bots, security cameras, and even some heat-sensitive areas.] [Ten doesn't find anything about the online delay.] (Aww, no obvious evil plans to take over the world with a gaming console? ;_;) [As for Hector's schedule... I dunno. Let's just say nothing about it seems unusual. Mostly he's going to be at the facility, overseeing the online network and making a bunch of phone calls.] ( No obvious plans, no ) (And I'm out of time to go look for the subtle ones.) [You've still got two files left.] (Oh!) (Hmm...) ( If nothing else, there's the body guards. ) ( Since they each have a file, Ten gets the impression that they're hand-picked. ) (Ten takes the direct approach to planning these things, so I'll search for their formation while moving him, and make a stab at finding the real tech specs of the console, because if she was going to take over the world that's how she'd do it.) ( Two in front, two each side, one behind. ) (And in vehicles?) [As for the console.... Gimme another hacking roll.] (Ow! On the dot) ( Two in front, two in the vehicle he's in, one behind. ) (Right) [Ten finds the specs for the console. It's... pretty damn high. It's no wonder why this file has extra protection. Cayiltech doesn't want these specs getting to its competitors. But nonetheless, there's nothing sinister written here. ] * Ten curses and logs off. ( Think we done here. ) (Yep, I think Rose needs to have a talk with Tentaru about prioritising useful info over pet theories. XD) [End!]
