(Desc the security room, Brett?) [Rose is in the security room. There's a lot of computers and technological items and things like that in there. A gentle hum from all the stuff fills the room. There's actually a number of guys there, too. Two of them are watching the monitors. One has coffee, the other has a mPod. They look bored, but at least they're paying attention. There's also another guy there: Jarek Degenhardt, the tall 40-something guy who's bot [That's the guy who comes up to Rose as he enters. "Lost?"] (Cut: the tall 40-something guy who's bot) There's also another guy there: Jarek Degenhardt, the tall 40-something guy who's both somewhat muscular and somewhat fat.] * Roseli shakes her head. "No." She holds out a packet of chewing gum. "Gum?" * Roseli looks like she always does. One hand is holding a mug of coffee. [Jarek sneers. "If you've come because you're concerned about the security of this building, we've got it well in hand."] * Roseli nods. "Believe you." Want to keep tabs on my ward. Rec room, I think? [He scowls. "Fine." He points at a monitor before going to the small room in the back that is, effectively, his office. "Just don't distract our workers."] Sure. * Roseli heads over and has a seat at the indicated monitor. She picks up a headset nearby and keys it to the appropriate frequency so she can hear what's happening in there, then places the earpieces in her ears. * Roseli then sips her coffee. Mmm, coffee. [There are a lot of monitors. I'm not going to go into them all, but assume the building is pretty well covered.] (Like REALLY well covered!) * Heinrick heads into the room as well quietly and takes a look around. He doesn't look lost either! * Roseli keeps watching the monitor! [Jarek looks up from whatever he's doing long enough to shoot Heinrick a scowl.] * Heinrick glances at Jarek curiously. "Am I disturbing something?" * Togo has joined #securityroom ["Yeah, me. First the woman, now you. What do you want?"] * Togo wanders by, hears voices, and pokes his head in. * Roseli keeps watching the monitor, still! [Togo sees the security room. C/P time!] [There's a lot of computers and technological items and things like that in there. A gentle hum from all the stuff fills the room. There's actually a number of guys there, too. Two of them are watching the monitors. One has coffee, the other has a mPod. They look bored, but at least they're paying attention.] [Rose is at a monitor with a headset on.] [And there's also a guy in a back room who's giving Heinrick a hard time. He's 40-something and slightly muscular, but slightly fat.] * Heinrick looks over at 'the woman,' which seems a horrible thing to call Roseli. He then gestures vaguely at Jarek. "Well, if we are not welcome here, then I shall take my leave, but it seems as if at least one guardian is allowed in here, hmm?" * Roseli sips her coffee. Mmm, coffee. [He goes back to his work. "Whatever. Quit bugging me."] * Heinrick shrugs vaguely. He was the one who was asked questions, not the other way around. But some people have an odd definition of 'bugging' apparently. He instead does a quick glance of all the monitors (yes, all of them) to see about where they cover. * Heinrick also hasn't quite noticed Togo yet. Poor Togo. (They cover everything, pretty much.) [No matter how many times you ask, I'm not describing each and every spot the cameras cover.] ( heh ) (He's looking more for what the cameras DON'T cover. XD) * Roseli is watching the rec room, for the record. She has a pair of earphones in that are probably keyed to the room she's watching. ( YOUR MO- wait, that makes no sense. ) [Heinrick can see Zarina in the training room, punching a dummy that's apparently made of steel, and putting dents in it.] (...actually the sad thing is that *could* make sense.) Has anyone gotten any word on what, if anything, is going on? 'cause if not, Luana's gonna spend some more time with the sheep. * Heinrick looks at Togo for a minute and keeps a low inquisitive voice, as a good example! "Ah Togo. Sheep"? * Roseli rubs at the heavy bracelet on her left wrist. * Togo lowers his voice a bit and responds. "With tasers. Accuracy training. Miss a sheep, we both get a zap. She's improving by leaps and bounds." * Heinrick nods slightly. "So you are taking a personal investment in your ward's training. Interesting." * Togo shrugs. "If this were the military, she'd be the only one getting shocks. But she ain't a soldier; she's a kid with issues. Gotta take a slightly more delicate approach, make sure she doesn't interpret the pain as mindless sadism." In military training, by contrast, mindless sadism is a virtue to be aspired to. [Karin appears behind Togo. "I'm glad someone else here realizes that."] * Togo looks back. "I just do what works for my ward." * Heinrick glances over at Roseli for a moment, responding to them both. "Of course, some wards would be quicker to jump to that conclusion than others." * Heinrick starts walking over there! * Roseli turns to the chatty guardians. "Karin. Iris is looking for you. Just stopped at the rec." * Heinrick nods slightly to Roseli. "How is your ward faring, Miss Tavares?" Been better. We all have been. * Roseli shrugs and goes back to watching the monitor. [Karin blinks. "She is? Hmm..." She glances to one side, briefly. "Well, that can wait. I just stopped by to give you this." She produces a manila envelope.] * Roseli looks back again. "Hm?" * Heinrick seems to have had enough of the conversation as well. He glances at the monitor for a minute and then back at Karin, about to ask her what brings her there but it seems plot interceded! ( Hobbes is suing you for emotional distress and bullet wounds. ) ( Curses! ) [She holds the manila envelope out for Togo, who's the closest guardian to her. "Not sure if you know, but a Zukunft lab was hit by Claude Sherman last night."] Fun. How many has he targetted thus far? Wonderful. *hands it to Heinrick* * Heinrick takes the envelope, but doesn't continue the game of "pass the buck." He instead opens it. ["He's been going after them over the past decade, but it's only recently that his operations have intensified. Control thinks it's because he's gotten a lot of new recruits."] ["Over the past year he's hit seven Zukunft facilities."] What's the average damage report? How many did he have with him on this raid? * Heinrick starts scanning through the file. ["Four. Including two of the ones your team fought last month."] [She takes a deep breath. "And one of my old classmates."] [Heinrick looks at the file. It contains assembled profiles of many of the raiders or the lost ar... um, the Zukunft raiders.] Yeah? * Heinrick 's lips become a slightly thin line but other than that, no expression. "My condolences." * Roseli idly glances at the monitor. His group is the one that's primarily modified humans, right? No paranormals? [Karin nods. "That's why Control wanted me to deliver it. To tell you what I know about her."] [She shakes her head. "Not... exactly. Some are. He is. But some have paranormal abilities, too. And some are just highly skilled."] * Heinrick puts the file stuff away for the moment and looks at Karin. "Proceed." * Togo nods, and shuts up for the moment. [In the profiles, Heinrick sees first Claude Sherman. It's the same picture he saw when he was first introduced to the guy. Age: 48. Nationality: American. Formerly a scientist of Asahara Industries, a now defunct corporation known to be engaged with genetic modification.] [And that's all he sees, 'cause he put the file away.] (He can look at it later, while his player's away!) [Karin continues. "Control says that of all the terrorists we're facing, they're probably our most dangerous enemies. We know Sherman had a private home outside of Frankfurt twenty years ago. It was highly protected and difficult to find, and that's where he based his operations from. But now he's operating at an unknown location."] * Roseli glances at the monitor again. She frowns a little and starts watching. ["As for my collegue, her name is Catherine Wyatt." She frowns. "We were both in House Griffon, though, so I don't know how she ended up working for Sherman."] * Heinrick nods slightly. "Who is currently searching for the location?" (But...but Griffendor can't be evil!) ( Hence the mystery! ) ["Section 1."] (Well, being a guardian is a vaguely evil job anyway, so... I guess it's degrees?) (Well, we all know Togo's not evil enough for this job though.) (True.) How informed are we of their progress? [Karin shrugs. "What progress? Sherman's good at hiding. We never even know where he's going to attack until he does it."] Does Wyatt have any abilities we should be aware of? So was the group we encountered previously a sect of Sherman's or were they operating indepedently? [Karin nods. "Of course she does. She majored in Transfiguration, minored in Cryomancy. Last I'd heard, she was studying in Tokyo for her master's. That might be how she fell in with Sherman's group. He picked up some Japanese members recently." She nods at Heinrick. "The same ones you fought earlier."] * Heinrick puts his fingers to his forehead. "That is not what I asked. Were they operating independently at the time or were they already part of Sherman's group?" Magic. Wonderful. *pauses* No offense. [Karin glares. "How should I know?" She thinks about it. "Actually, though... I don't think they joined with Sherman before they got to Germany. I mean, Sherman only targets Zukunft, right?"] * Roseli keeps watching the monitor. "Think so." That's the assumption. So either Sherman is expanding or they have their own agenda. [She continues. "But a HESO artifact storage facility in France was hit back in August. And what do you thing went missing?"] ( thing = think. Dur ) Don't spend lots of time with artifacts. ["You spent some time with this one. A certain magic sword."] ( OHGODNOTAMBITION ) (We went one too many games without it, apparently. XP) ( <.< ) ( I'm gonna go cry in the corner. ) ( It's not Ambition -.- ) Yeah? ( ... wait, if Ambition is here... can I shoot more Uedas? *_* ) [Karin nods. "Durandal! Don't tell me you forgot."] (Well, Rose wouldn't have, but I've forgotten!) ( That's what teh logz r 4 ) (That's actually what I was just about to post, Brett. :P) ( Too slow! ) (But which log?) * Heinrick takes a deep breath. "The same one that that leader was carrying. Wonderful." (Oh RIGHT. The session I wasn't there for.) (Yep!) (How can I forget something I wasn't there for! ;P) [Karin nods. "The good news is it's sealed. Unless he manages to break the seal, it's not functioning at it's full power." She pauses, then adds, "The bad news is, even at partial power it's still far more dangerous than your average sword."] How dangerous? I wonder if any of this has to do with France's reluctance to accept ones like those in Section 2. [She shrugs. "It goes from being able to carve a path through a mountain to just being able to carve a rock in two."] * Roseli nods. [Karin shrugs. "Dunno."] * Heinrick nods slightly, then glances at the other guardians. "By your leave, I am going to peruse these files for a moment. I will make certain they are available to all of us though." ( ;-; ) Go ahead. [Karin nods. "'Kay."] Appreciate it. I'll need some time with them later, since I read a bit slower than most. * Roseli is watching the monitor intently. * Heinrick makes his way out. (And that leaves a convenient out for the player as well! Have a good session guys!) ( Later ) * Heinrick is now known as RowynAway (Bye Heinrick. ;P) (And Rowyn! XD) [Karin rubs the back of her neck. "Catherine was a better duelist than me, by the way."] She hit with magic directly? [Karin nods. "I was never very good with attack spells. I majored in Magical Psychology. Minored in Flight."] * Roseli nods thoughtfully. "Can leave her to me, then." [Karin nods. "Good idea."] I'll keep that in mind. Unattended mage can really fuck up a well-planned battle. * Togo resists the urge to start telling old battle stories. But the urge is strong. [Karin grins. "Fortunately, that's true for their side, too. Plus, Catherine can use attack spells better than me, but I don't think she knows how to fire a semi-auto pistol."] So all I have to do is challenge her to pistols at high noon? * Roseli idly says, "Magic won't hurt me if it's direct. Pretty sure she depends on it." * Roseli doesn't look at the pair at all, though. Her eyes are completely fixed on the screen. * Togo looks askance at Roseli. "... that's handy. I'll remember to take cover behind you." [This coversation is rudely interrupted by an explosion! Of anger. Iris Koenig appears in the door way. "There you are!" She stomps into the room.] Hi, Iris. [Karin turns around. "Iri-" But before she can finish speaking, Iris grabs her by the lapel and slams her up against the wall. "How could you, Karin?! How could you let Cyra get shot?! I thought we were friends! I thought I could trust you!"] * Roseli stands and looks at Iris. "Can't stop every bullet. Unfortunately." She reaches over and tries to detach Iris from Karin, pulling her away. [The two security guards get to their feet and Jarek comes out of his office. Karin grimaces. "Iris, I-" she coughs as Iris slams her against the wall again. "I only agreed to joining Blitzkrieg because of Cyra. You know that! You know I was counting on you to protect her!"] (I fail at detachables!) * Togo helps out once Roseli moves, and grabs Iris' other arm to try to pull her back. [Jarek stomps over, howling, "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"] [Annnd... Between the two of you, you manage to restrain Iris without needing body rolls.] (Go military training!) ( w00t ) [Karin rubs the area below her throat and coughs again. "I'm sorry, Iris. They had a sniper. We couldn't have known."] [Iris growls. "You SHOULD have known!" She looks between Togo and Rose. "Let me go!"] No. [Jarek glares at Iris. "Is this what they're doing at Section 3? Useless bastards."] [And just to complicate things further, an extremely handsome man in a brown suit appears in the doorway. "Careful there, Degenhardt. Talk like that could lose you your job." He's a tall man, looking to be only 20 something, with long, wavy blond hair tied in a pony tail. Oh, and he's got fangs. The two security guards reach for their guns when they see, although they don't draw them.] ( That get through? ) (Yup!) ( Woot ) * Roseli glances at the guy. "Who're you?" [Jarek looks across you to the new man. "Humph. The great Tavin von Haupt himself. What the hell is the head of Section 3 doing here?"] * Togo notices the fangs and finds himself reaching for a cross before he catches himself and regains his grip on Iris. "You have vampires running around here?" [The new guy, who must be Tavin von Haupt, wags a finger at Togo. "Tch tch. Half-vampire, my friend. There's not many of us, but that's no reason to mistake us for the others."] ... ah. Sorry about that. I get a bit jumpy around folks with fangs that aren't vegetarians bartenders. ( -s ) ["Think nothing of it. As for why I'm here, it seems our poor dear Iris went off without telling anyone."] [Iris glares at him. "Cyra was shot!"] [He nods. "I know. I've spoken to Dr. Siebert, and he says the bullet barely grazed her arm. She's going to be just fine in a matter of days."] Happens sometimes, Iris. She goes into combat... that's what happens. [Iris clenches her fists. "She's NOT going to be fine! She was shot!" She glares at Roseli. "It shouldn't happen! Not to Cyra! It's not fair!"] ( "Shot happens." "... DIE." ) [Tavin sighs and shakes his head. "Oh, Iris. What are we going to do with you?" He seems to be smiling, however.] * Roseli sighs. "It sounds like it's not fair because she's your sister," she says, switching to longer sentences. "And I understand, really. Karin *really* cares about Cyra; more than most guardians do." * Roseli looks over at Karin with an 'isn't that right' look. [Jarek steps forward. "I'll tell you what you're going to do. You're going to take your goods back and get the hell out of here!"] [Karin nods slowly. "Iris, you know what Cyra means to me. We all grew up together. She's practically my sister as much as yours."] [Iris starts crying! Way to go, guys. "But... But I just want her to be safe."] I know. But it's a trade off. * Togo stays quiet, as his own unique brand of social grace and tact is not called for in this instance. [Karin puts a hand on Iris's shoulder. "Iris, you know I'm going to do everything I can for her."] [Jarek looks back and scowls. "Hey! You think you folks can do your lovey-dovey hugging somewhere else?" He glares at the security guards. "Get back to your stations!" They hurry to comply!] [Tavin nods. "We have things we need to do, as well. Come on, Iris."] * Roseli lets her go. [Iris sniffs. "Okay." She takes off her glasses to wipe her eyes. "I'm sorry, Karin."] [Karin smiles. "Don't worry about it."] [Iris heads over to Tavin. She glances back once, then they leave. Karin promptly sighs.] * Roseli immediately turns to look at the monitor she left behind. ["I don't blame her for being angry. There isn't anything I could have done, but that doesn't make me feel any better about the situation."] We do our best. She'll deal. You don't hafta convince me. I've had people under my command die on me over the years... you do everything you can, but this is a dangerous line of work. [Karin nods. "Yeah..." She walks over to the monitors and checks the one in the medical ward. "Cyra's lucky, though. At least she has people who care about her. Poor Sebastian doesn't have anyone. Not even his own Guardian."] [Sure enough, both Sebastian and Cyra are in the medical ward, in case anyone checks.] Could try to fill the hole. ["It's not easy. Cyra... well, she requires a lot of attention, you know? And Gertrude doesn't like it when anyone talks to Sebastian. Says he doesn't need to talk to people or make friends." She frowns. "I hate that woman."] * Roseli nods, going to retrieve her cup of coffee. She takes a sip. "But she sounds effective." [Karin turns to Rose. "It may be effective, but it's not right."] * Roseli offers Karin a wry smile. "What is?" She removes her headset. "I have a ward to save." Talk to you later. Togo, got the memo about meeting concerning abilities. Should do that. [Karin nods. "Good luck."] * Roseli heads out, coffee in hand. "Need it, thanks." * Roseli drains the rest of her coffee and leaves. [Rose has left!] [She'd better hurry on up there before I decide to toss in a NPC.] (She's going!) (Gryph is just wrestling with his internet, apparently. ;P) [Meanwhile, Togo is left in the security room with Karin, two non-descript guys and Jarek, who probably wants everyone else gone.] * Togo nods at Roseli as she walks out, then starts to wander off before turning back to Karin. "The fact that it bothers you is good; means the job hasn't completely rotted you inside yet. Don't ever feel bad for feeling that way, but remember that what we're doing here is important." [Karin nods. "Yeah. Thanks."] * Togo waves. "See you around, and don't get dead." [She grins. "Same to you, grandpa."] * Togo pulls a cane out of his coat and starts shuffling away down the hall. ( Where's he going? ) ( He'll probably look for Luana in a few minutes. ) ( K, so he's going with Rose? :P ) (If he's walking with her, he's welcome to talk to her as they go.) ( Yes, but he won't pop into the room immediately. But we can close this window. ) ( Or you can stay here and talk to each other on the way. Up to you ) ( That works. Shuffle after Roseli! ) (Right then!) * Roseli is heading for the offices. She glances at Togo, who's shuffling along. "What's with the cane?" Karin called me grandpa. Didn't want to disappoint. You have grandkids? * Togo puts the cane back into his coat and resumes a normal walk. "Nope. She was just busting on me for being old and decrepit." * Roseli doesn't crack a grin. "I'm disappointed." Line of work doesn't leave much time for family. 'sides, my girl ain't the settling-down type, and neither am I. Fair enough. Not to pry into your business, but anything I should be aware of with the Jaime/Ten situation that'll affect us in the field? ( Ha ) Yeah. Ten's gone. ( Not to pry into your business, but let me pry into your business. ) * Roseli reaches the hall with their offices. She heads towards hers. * Togo nods. "Does Jaime retain all the abilities?" Yeah. They were all hers. Ten was her creation. Split personality? * Roseli pulls out her keys and fiddles with them, then unlocks her door. "Yup. Damaged mind. Jamie's had a rough time." Is she stable enough for field work now, or is it a work in progress? [Nothing jumps out at Rose when she opens the door.] * Roseli heads in, but she leaves her door open as she goes to the sill behind her desk and starts messing with the coffee maker. Her office is a bit of a mess, as there's a bunch of clothes half stuffed in a duffel bag on the floor, and the couch against a wall has a rumpled blanket and pillows. Paperwork is all over the desk, though in semi-organized piles. No. Not at all. * Roseli looks in a drawer and pulls out a clean mug. "Told them that I'd need at least a month. So I've got a month." * Togo nods. "If I can help, lemme know." Gonna need Luana for some training, if you can spare her. Don't know how much it'd help her, but Jamie has to learn how to deal with things. * Roseli sets the mug on the sill and pours in the hot chocolate. * Togo hrms. "I can spare her. She's been making great progress with her accuracy thanks to the taser sheep drill, and that was the most urgent thing we needed to address." Good to hear. * Roseli picks up the mug and heads out. "Taser sheep?" she asks as she passes Togo. * Roseli closes the door and locks it once she's out, and she heads towards the rec room. Taser sheep. Variation on a drill they used in Army Rangers shooting drills. Back then, if you missed, you did a hundred or got punched in the stomach, depending on which sergeant was on duty that day. [Rose passes Gabriel on the way. He doesn't say anything.] ( He's just there to remind you that he's there ) Here, two sheep, three shots. Miss one, it shocks her and me. Miss two, they both shock us both. A few days of that and Luana began to show remarkable improvement. *grins* * Roseli nods. "Not surprised. Guardian in the way helps, too. They're conditioned to protect us, and Luana wants to please anyway." (Jesse?) There's that. Also wanted her to know that I wasn't just doing it to be a bastard. That anything I'm willing to do to her I'm willing to take on myself. Kid's got trust issues. (Oh, good. ^^) They all do. Comes with the territory. ( Sorry, was typing, and changed answers midway through. ) (Sokay. ^^) I'm just trying to get her to where she's confident enough in her abilities that she'll take orders, but she won't need to be given orders. * Roseli nods. And, as a bonus, she won't get horribly killed. * Roseli chuckles dryly. "There's that. Almost there." And she quiets, walking up to the rec room. ( Togo: Aims high.)
