[Meanwhile, Heinrick and Rose are in their offices, filling out paperwork.] [Go!] * Heinrick is filling out the wonderful world of paperwork! Though he doesn't appear as if he's been all that talkative anyhow. * Roseli is, in fact, filling out paperwork. A fairly large pile has stacked up over the past few weeks, and she's getting through all right. * Dicesuke has joined #Heinrick&Rose * Roseli hasn't been talking much, either, but that's pretty normal. [Plus since they're in their own offices, there's nobody to talk to!] (That does help.) ( Gimme hearing rolls. ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Roseli (2d8) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 8. (Made.) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-4) and gets a natural 13 for a result of 9. (Made even with a roll of suck!) [You both hear angry voices out in the hall.] * Roseli works on finishing her current document before investigating. It's their business, anyhow. * Heinrick doesn't outright investigate but does keep his ears peeled for anything interesting. [You both miss out on plot.] (I apologize for not sticking my nose in everyone's business. ;P) (Same here. :P Besides, I guess they're not loud enough to pick up anything. :P) ( Gimme additional hearing rolls! ) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-4) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 5. 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Roseli (2d8) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 7. (Yup!) (And yup by 6!) [The arguing turns to shouting. "Dammit, Gabriel! You always kept your mind on the mission in Section 1! Why can't you focus on what's important now?!"] * Heinrick finishes his paperwork and starts walking down the hallway slowly. And quietly. He's heading in the general direction of Control's office anyhow, but if he picks up anything else along the way... * Roseli keeps up with this file. She's almost done. ( He starts walking down the hallway before exiting his office? ) (*finishes his paperwork, exits his office, and starts walking down the hallway slowly...no, Heinrick is not a ghost...yet.) (:P) * Roseli finishes that last document and stretches, then stands and pours herself more coffee. She exits the office. [Heinrick gets out in time to see Gabriel arguing with Director Erik Graf. Gabriel gets all up in his face and says, "Well maybe I changed after I almost died back then." Then he leaves.] [Rose comes out just in time to see Erik leave, too. He almost bumps into Lydia as she comes around the corner.] * Roseli blinks. She nods to Lydia. * Heinrick turns to Lydia. "Ah. Just who I was looking for." [Lydia raises an eyebrow. "Really."] * Heinrick nods. "If you have the time." ["What is it?"] * Heinrick smiles. "I do not know about you, but unlike other staff, I do not prefer to have private conversations in hallways." [Lydia nods. "All right then." She gestures towards her office.] * Heinrick follows behind quietly, not caring a glance at anyone else down the hallway. His eyes are focused on his goal. [Lydia leads Heinrick to her office, and Rose is effectively cut from the plot.] ( >.> ) (Yeah gee. Far be it for us not to play our characters as human. :P) [But before they go in, Lydia asks, "How long do you expect this to take, Dr. Engels?"] (Of course, we all know Heinrick's a robot...) Not long, I believe. I simply have a request to make is all. [She nods. "Very well." Then she turns to Rose. "Ms. Tavares, would you mind waiting a moment?"] * Roseli shakes her head. "No." She sips coffee. [She nods. "Thank you." Then she steps inside her office.] * Heinrick steps inside after her. And the door closes behind, presumeably! ( And yet another channel, #TheOffice ) (*Heinrick has acquired a sitcom role!) * Roseli waits. And drinks coffee. [Karin pops out of her office. "Oh. Hi Rose." Boy, does she look morose.] * Roseli nods. "Karin." Pause. "You okay?" [She nods. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm..." Then she rubs the back of her head and sighs. "No. I'm not."] Want to talk? [She nods. "Ok."] [Karin leans against the door frame. "I'm... I'm not sure. Upset? Sad? Maybe both. Zarina wasn't my ward, but she was only a few years younger than me. And she was about the only person on my team I could talk to."] * Roseli nods. "Makes sense." It's not like the other guardians or wards are excellent choices. "You did spend a lot of time with my team." [She nods. "You're team is different. You're all closer to each other." She pauses, then adds, "Well, maybe not Doctor Engels. But anyway... To tell the truth, I was kind of jealous."] * Roseli shrugs and grins a little. "Could take my place. Not the most talkative person." Probably be good with Jamie, too. [Karin shakes her head. "I can't. I'm the only one who's qualified to work with Cyra."] * Roseli nods. It's okay for you to be upset. She was your friend and teammate. Pretty normal. [Karin nods. "It's like there's a hole inside me. Like... I know people die in this business. It could have happened to anyone. But when it actually does... You just never expect it."] * Roseli shakes her head. "No," she says, a bit more softly. ["And Gabriel..." She sighs. "Did you hear the shouting?"] A little. Didn't want to barge in... what happened? ["He was always a model soldier. I mean, he never let his emotions surface. Not while he was in Section 1, and not when he came here. Not til Zarina died."] * Roseli nods slowly. [Karin shakes her head. "I mean... He was almost killed in an incident a few years ago, back when he and the director were in Section 1, and even that didn't faze him."] No. It wouldn't. [Karin blinks. "It wouldn't?"] No. He's a model soldier. His own death part of the benefits package. (+is) Almost dying doesn't phase me. It shouldn't. But he didn't expect Zarina to die, and protecting her is a part of his job - being like her father or partner is a part of his job. [Karin blinks. "Really? I thought..." She pauses. "But I almost died when Eileen was torturing me, and I didn't really change." Then she rubs her neck. "But I'm not a model soldier to begin with..."] ( Switch! ) (Yessir!) [And then Heinrick comes out of Lydia's office.] * Roseli shrugs. "He let himself get close. And it burned him." She glances at Heinrick as he leaves and nods to him. [Karin nods. "I think I kow what you mean."] * Heinrick comes stalking out silently with a neutral expression on his face. He walks up to the two of them and pauses. "Pardon me for the intrusion." Something wrong? [Karin looks at Heinrick, then Rose. "I'll leave you two alone, then. Thanks, Rose."] * Heinrick smiles at Roseli. Same old Heinrick smile of amusement. "No. But Control wishes to speak with us." Sure. And Karin. [Karin starts to head back into her office, then stops, looking at Rose expectantly.] * Roseli looks at Karin. "I'm not saying that getting close to someone is wrong. If you're strong enough to handle it, then more power to you; it makes you a better person and more effective at your job on top of it." Gabriel's tough. He'll be fine. And so will you. [Karin nods. "Thanks."] * Heinrick chuckles. "I would agree." [She hides in her office!] * Heinrick looks at Rose, back with his neutral expression. "Difficult conversation, I take it?" * Roseli sighs and rubs at her eyes. "A little." Karin's not a soldier. What does Control want? Do not push *yourself* too hard, Ms. Tavares. * Heinrick shakes his head. "A mission. That is all she said." Hm. Should say the same to you. I'm not carrying around any guilt over Zarina's death. * Heinrick raises an eyebrow at Rose. * Roseli heads over towards Lydia's office. "Better see what she wants." * Heinrick follows. "Agreed." [You head to Lydia's Office, where she's waiting at her desk.] * Roseli walks in, finishing her mug of coffee. She put the empty mug on the nearest safe surface and pulls out a package of gum, offering a stick to Lydia. (+s) * Heinrick nods to Lydia and again does not take a seat. "You wished to see us?" [Lydia shakes her head at the gum. "I have an assignment for you." She hands over a folder. "You're to go to the location marked on the map in there to pick up that terrorist you captured on Friday. The one who shares Jamie's abilities. Take her to Section 3 and have Iris Koenig scan her for any useful information, then deliver her to Zukunft's main lab."] ( srsly ) * Roseli pops the stick into her own mouth, then, and takes the folder. Will do. Just Heinrick and me? (Sorry, I was remembering that she wanted gum.) [Lydia nods. "Be sure you keep her sedated. We don't want her messing with any electronics when she gets to the city."] * Roseli nods. That all? [Lydia nods.] * Roseli turns and heads off, then, taking her empty mug with her. * Heinrick nods as well and then turns with Roseli. [You leave the office.] * Roseli pops into her own office to drop off her mug and lock up, then heads for the place with the vehicles as she flips through the file Lydia gave her. [That would be the garage! Which you go to! And get a car! And since I don't think you plan to talk to each other, I'm just going to FF a bit.] (What's in the file?) (And hey. We may talk to each other!) [The file appears to be known data on Hotaru. There's not actually very much there. There's also a map with the locations you need to go to helpfully marked.] [You get in the car and start driving!] (Does it flash on our radar where our next mission destination is?) ( Yep! ) (Sweet!) * Roseli drives. Booyah! * Heinrick sits in the passengers seat. And his driving skills go to *waste* I wonder why such a simple errand. [Rose drives. And drives. And drives. It takes a while to get to where you're going, because it's out of city limits. You eventually come to a cabin surrounded by a makeshift fence, where there are two armed guards at a security checkpoint.] She's dangerous, and we do have experience working with someone with a power set a lot like hers. She is reliant on Ten, incidentally. Or was. * Heinrick sighs slightly amusedly. "Does this mean we will be encountering the goddess complex again. I detested that..." * Roseli shrugs. "If we keep her sedated, it shouldn't be a problem." [They get in front of the van as you pull up, and one walks up to the windshield.] * Roseli pulls up to the checkpoint and rolls down her window. "Tavares and Engles, from section 2. Here to transfer a terrorist." ["Can I see some ID?"] * Heinrick takes out his ID and hands it over. * Roseli flashes her card, yo. [He inspects it, then nods and waves towards the cabin. Shortly, two more guards appear, dragging along Hotaru! Who's kinda walking, just... not enough to keep from being dragged. One opens the back door of the car, and they shove her in.] * Roseli nods at that. "Tranqs to keep her sedated? Going to be a long drive." * Heinrick steps out of the car and redeligates himself to the back seat, so he can be ready with sedatives. He then smirks at Roseli. "You always tend to beat me to the requests." [The guard was just handing out sedatives as you asked. Amazing, without speaking a word he seems to know exactly what you want.] * Roseli takes them and hands them back to Heinrick! [The guards return to position.] * Heinrick takes the sedatives and nods his thanks, then gets comfortable with the busty teenager. In an absolutely platonic way." * Roseli rolls up her window. "Comfortable?" she asks back there. * Heinrick nods. "Let us hope she stays that way." He readies some of the sedatives just in case. [Her head bobs around. "Where am I...?"] ( Why yes! Two big pillows, just for me! Hentai. Er, wait, I'm not Japanese.) ( MacDaddy? ) * Roseli backs up and drives off. To section 3! * Heinrick puts the injection in her arm. "Not to worry. It's just a gentle calming car ride, that's all." (Keiko: That'd only appear in the fanfic.) (:P) (Snort. True.) [Vroom Vroom! You drive to Section 3. It's in Berlin! But it's more towards the center of the city. The HQ is a tall, ominous looking tower. Well, actually, it's a dull grey skyscraper. But they can look ominous under the right conditions. It's the only structure on the block, but it's surrounded by fence and parking lot.] * Roseli drives on in! Er, not into the building, but into the parking area, and she probably gets stopped and screened by security as she does so. [She does!] [But we'll just skip that part, and then into the building, where they're immediately stopped and checked again. before they're allowed in.] (Hot security checkin' action.) * Roseli is allowed in, yay! She heads in, then, letting Heinrick drag Hotaru along and sedate her periodically. ;P * Heinrick is hauling Hotaru along in a way that doesn't mean he gets a face full of breast. The arm comes in handy sometimes. Periodically, he's making sure that Hotaru stays out of it. [As you walk further into the building, you notice some people walking towards you. They are Tavin von Haupt, half-vampiric director of section 3 and Iris Koenig, the #1 psychic.] [Tavin the bishonen waves. "Hello there! I understand you need our services."] * Roseli nods. "Good timing." She indicates Hotaru. "This is Hotaru version 2.5. She tried to help a terrorist organization steal a tank, among other things." Need you to pick her brain. Correction. She *successfully* stole a tank for some time before it was recovered. * Roseli nods to Heinrick. [Iris frowns. "Unconscious? I don't like this... I don't like going into someone's head when they're helpless. It feels wrong."] Would you prefer it when she's controlling all the equipment in this building? If she wakes up, she'll take the city down with her. (Nix what I said, with Heinrick's comment and all.) [Tavin rolls his eyebrows. "I thought we'd managed to teach you better than that, Iris. I guess we've still got a long way to go with your training." He heads to a side room. "If you'll all follow me, where we can do this in private..."] [Iris sighs. She follows Tavin.] * Roseli heads after them. * Heinrick follows after them too. It's kind of important. [Tavin leads you into a conference room, with a long table and a buncha chairs. He swivels a chair around and gestures to it. "Put her here."] * Heinrick places her in the chair actually fairly gently and takes a few steps back. "Does Iris not have stronger contact when they are unconscious?" [Iris shakes her head. "Actually it's easier, because they can't fight back. It just feels... dirty."] [Tavin sighs. "Don't worry, dear. We'll cure you of that bad habit."] [Iris sits in the chair opposite of Hotaru. She cups Hotaru's face in her hands, then closes her eyes and lowers her head.] If Schumacher treated this version like she did mine, her head's not going to be pretty. Just warning. (Put that before Iris did that?) ( K ) (Also, should be "he did mine".) [Iris is silent a few seconds. Then she sudders a bit. Then she looks up. "Done." It's possibly a new record!] Quick. * Heinrick nods. "I agree. And doubtful that he didn't." He glances at Iris. "Rather impressive." [Tavin nods. "That's the work of Section 3 for you. Thanks to us, Iris here is possibly the most powerful psychic in the world."] * Roseli skips the advertisement and asks Isis, "What did you find?" (She needs a cowbell.) (To indicate when she's done.) ["She was originally Pavla Novakova. Czech, eighteen years old. Birthdate: June 21st, 2069. Blood type: A-. Eyes: blue. Hair was originally brown."] ["Her father was killed in the war, and her mother remarried. She has six step brothers and sisters."] ["Her family was poor and her father didn't like her much, so they sold her on the black market."] * Roseli shakes her head. [Iris hesitates, then says, "She was purchased by the Cult of Belial. Do you remember them?"] Cultists. Certainly not pleasant ones. Continue. [Tavin speaks. "They were kidnapping virgins for use in ritual sacrifice for a while before they unleashed an Abomination upon themselves. I'm surprised you've forgotten. From what I understand, you were there."] [Iris shakes her head. "This was before they started sacrifices. They tried the ritual a different way, but it didn't work. All it did was turn her hair white."] Different how exactly? [Iris shudders. "Sexual. Karin told me, there's three kinds of magic that are forbidden, and-"] [Tavin cuts her off. "Stick to the task at hand, Iris."] * Roseli nods, keeping her face blank. * Heinrick gives a glance to Tavin. "You don't believe this information is important to their inner workings?" [Tavin shrugs. "No, I don't. But If you really wish to hear it..." He nods at Iris.] * Heinrick shrugs. "I was asking your judgment, not making an accusation. Continue how you see fit." [Iris blinks at him, then turns to Heinrick. "Um, right... Like I said, there's three forbidden schools of magic. One is demonolgy, because it deals with trading souls. Another is necromancy, because it deals with, well, the undead. And then there's, uh, sexual, becuase it deals with sexual fluids and often virginity. And they're forbidden because you can do serious harm to yourself or others by invoking magic from them."] ( That get through? ) (Yessir.) * Heinrick nods and turns to Tavin. "And how much research do we have available on these three brands?" [Tavin shrugs. "You work with a wizard. Why don't you ask her?"] [Iris continues, "Anyway... uh, do I really have to tell you exactly what happened?"] * Heinrick smiles. "Thank you for reminding me. I believe I will. Sorry to interrupt." [Iris sighs. "Um, anyhow, after he had his way with her for a while, he sold her again, to a Doctor Doctor Schuhmacher."] (The Double Doctor!) ["He did things to her, too. I mean, not sexual. Genetic. Made her look like she does now. And gave her the ability to control machines, and... uh..."] Surprised he didn't do anything sexual. Well, he did consider the Hotaru's as like his own daughters in a way... [Iris shakes her head. "He didn't have a choice, really. Someone paid him to do it. A woman. New Byzantine, from the look of her."] * Roseli looks at Heinrick like he's crazy. "Didn't stop him with Jamie." She turns back to Iris. "No damaged goods, then." ["And when he was finished, she took her and used her to... Uh... well, you know the rest. She shut down all the defenses at a military base and drove the Goliath onto a train."] No name for her? (Also, Brett, check the other channel.) ["I told you. Pavla Novakova. Although she doesn't remember it. She's just Hotaru 2.5 now."] No, the Byzantine. ["I had to pull everything from her deep memory."] * Heinrick smirks slightly at Roseli's reaction and shrugs. "Perhaps he got bored by the time Hotaru 2.5 came along then." ["Oh." Iris shakes her head. "No, no name for her."] * Roseli nods, then looks to Heinrick. "Unlikely. He has a fetish." So they never mentioned their name to her. Of course, why would you mention your name to property? ["She did mention there would be more work for the doctor if he was successful, though."] He said something like that, too. * Heinrick nods. [Iris looks at you. "Is there anything else you want to know about her?"] * Roseli shakes her head. "Not now. Control can sift through your report later. Thank you." [She nods. "Glad I could help. Tell Cyra and Karin I said hi."] Sure. ( One more stop to make o/~ ) Might want to talk to Karin, actually. Things have been rough. * Heinrick nods as well. (When she escapes and we're stuck on a cliffhanger?) [Iris nods. "I know. I'm sorry about what happened."] We all are. ( Much technobable to come ) * Roseli waves for Heinrick to collect the unconscious girl and heads on out for the last stop. * Heinrick takes her and heads on his way, preparing another sedative for good measure. [Sudden timeshift to speed things up! You head to the Zukunft facility as per Lydia's orders. It's actually the L-shaped buidling from session 37. The one that was broken into back in January. As such, security is a bit tighter. Nonetheless, it's fully functional.] [Upon getting through all the security stuff, you're directed to go to lab #09.] * Roseli follows directions! [You get there! Through the window, you can see it looks kinda like a combination of an operating room and a biochemical lab. There's one white-haired chubby man inside, typing on a computer at the far wall.] * Roseli knocks and then walks on in, assuming the door is unlocked. * Heinrick does as well and then looks to the white-haired man. "Do you accept new arrivals ?" [The man glances over his shoulder only briefly. "Blitzkrieg. We've been waiting for you. Put the subject on the table and strip her, would you?"] * Heinrick nods and sets her on the table. "This may be more appropriate for you, Miss Tavares." * Roseli shrugs and goes about removing Hotaru 2.5's clothing. She's not rough about it, but she does do it matter of factly. It's a job. [Hawt. Anyway, the guy types on for a few minutes in silence, then he gets up, taking a bunch of tools with him. He goes over to Hotaru with what looks like a syringe attached to an Ipod, and inserts it in her left shoulder. "Hmm.... Excellent. 31 BGA."] * Roseli raises an eyebrow. ( Gimme.... Ummmmmm.... ) ( Not sure if it should be medical or biology. ) (Call it both?) (Biology probably. Medical is usually the procedure, biology is knowledge) (And if so, what specialty?) ( Yeah, Biology, genetics ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Roseli (2d8) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 5. (Made it.) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-5) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 6. (This is one of those "crit fail only" roles. :D And even then is a technical make.) [BGA is a type of index used in the genetic alteration process. Most people have around a 25. Higher means more compatable.] (Basal Genetic Affinity?) Was convenient for Schumacher. ( Yep. ) (I R SMRTS!) [He draws out some of her blood, then puts it in a different kind of machine. "Blood type A-... GEG Index of 41..."] ( Gimme the same rolls again! ) 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-5) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 4. (Heinrick probably wrote a thesis on this one. :D) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Roseli (2d8) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 5. (Hehe.) [It's a different type of index from BGA. GEG means that if they are compatable, this is by how much of their code can be altered from its base before the DNA starts to mutate.] (And average rating?) ( Uhh... 0, but you can go into negatives. ) ( I dunno, I'm just making this up as I go. ) (Yeah, but that means you need to make up average as a point of reference. ;P) (That's fine, but we *do* need a baseline so that we know how impressive it is. :P) ( Well, there you go. 0. ) ( Actually, there shouldn't be negatives. ) ( We'll go with 0, meaning if you are compatible, it's only a little bit. It just goes higher from there. ) * Heinrick nods. "That's quite a range then." [He does some more tests. Some medical, some genetic related. Eventually, he comes to the last. "... And an Adaptability of... Wow. 88%. Impressive."] ( Oh, uh, good point. 0 is a dumb number. ) ( Let's say 33 is the average. ) (Or 41 is. :P) ( Nah, she's a bit higher. ) (0 makes sense, meaning the genes can't take alterations.) (Alright. I repeal my statement with the changing of reality!) ( Well, most people can be realtered. ) ( Just there's so many alterations you can make at once. ) ( Like if a person wants wings, it's possible. If they want a forked tongue, also possible. If they want both, it might be a bit harder to do. ) ( Anyhow, bio roll on that last one. ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Roseli (2d8) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 11. (Nope!) [Adaptability is just how quickly they can adjust to the new genetic code. i.e. how long you spend in a tank. Apparently, not long for this gal. But Rose doesn't know that.] 2d8-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-5) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 4. [Heinrick does.] [The man turns and addresses you eye to eye for the first time. "Congratulations. I believe Blitzkrieg has found an excellent match for their new ward."] ["Between the memory modification, the conditioning, and the modification itself... Hmmm... I'd say you can expect her to be ready in twelve to fourteen days."] * Roseli doesn't wince, but she doesn't look pleased either. "I see." She going to keep those powers? And they already disapprove of certain personality quirks she shares with the previous version. * Heinrick lets out a little amused snort/snicker. A snortker. "But of course. It's to be expected." [He shakes his head. "Oh, no. Of course not. We'll be trying something new with her. We just aren't sure what yet. The higher ups will meet some time this week and decide what direction they want to go with her."] * Roseli nods. [He adds, "Naturally, we'll revert her to her original, pre-modification state first."] Good. Didn't happen with mine, and eventually reverting her helped. * Heinrick nods slightly. [He nods. "Well, trial and error, you know?" He looks at Hotaru. Or Pavla. Or whatever. "This one's stats are pretty impressive. I think we should be able to modify her enough so that she's not too far behind her comrades. Of course, she'll need basic training before she's ready for field work, but... well, that part's up to her handler."] Going to be rough for her. ( Think we can end, if you want? ) Possibly. It depends on how thorough the wiping goes. Although that in and of itself...well, nevermind. (Sure, ending is okay.) * Heinrick walks out with Roseli to finish their date! (No tongue! No tongue!) * Roseli is walked out! [Ession Send!]
