[Date: Tuesday, April 2nd. Time: 2:00 p.m.] [After enjoying her new found re-freedom and yelling at each other, Keiko's back on her regular training schedule again! Following in suit with the discussion the other day, this training session is out in the midst of nature and it's a rather cool clear day outside the facility. Heinrick leads Keiko out to the nearby woods for training, although he hasn't been too talkative on the car rides over.] [It's still a bit of walking from where they parked into the forest proper and they're just getting out of the car now.] (All got through, yes?) (Yes.) [Mini Start.] * Keiko steps out of the car, hooray. She has decided to go with green today. It makes her blend in. Did she intend it? Probably not. She's wearing a violet ribbon which has tied her hair back, and the silver collar as always. She's petting her duck as she looks around at the forest with a neutral expression, and then lets out a soft 'mmm'. * Heinrick steps out of the car as well. He's wearing his usual duster (it's hard to say if you've ever seen him in more casual clothes) and a glove over his hands, probably to hide the fact that he isn't fully functional again yet. He closes the car door and sticks his hands in his coat, taking a glance at Keiko and giving her a little bit to take in the change in atmosphere, before glancing out. * Heinrick speaks in a calm voice. "When ever you're ready, Keiko. I'm in no hurry to begin." * Keiko replies quietly, "It is fine," as she pets the duck. "I have been outside before." She doesn't even manage to give it sarcastic bite. The outside and wilderness are quite different. These days, it's rare for people to go outside of the city. And then they think that life in general is "boring". *snickers slightly* What some of us wouldn't give for a boring life... * Keiko glances to Heinrick, then says in Japanese, As she pets her duck, a squirrel peeks its head out of one of the nearby trees, and then scampers down the tree towards her. She stays still as it leaps onto her dress and scampers up to her shoulder. * Heinrick replies evenly. "" He starts walking into the woods slowly, gesturing only slightly for Keiko to follow. * Keiko follows after him, not responding to that. She manages to give a bare smile to the squirrel on her shoulder as she tells it, * Heinrick goes into the depths of the forest, not paying too much mind to Keiko's talk with the animals. "We are going to be working on a couple of things today, some of which you've already been working on for a while, but I think it would be best to focus them for a while..." He stops for a second. "Before that, however, I had some consideration and was thinking of...well, pushing the range of your mental abilities..." * Keiko looks forward to Heinrick and mms again. After a moment she replies, "And?" * Heinrick hesitates for a second and turns to Keiko. "One thing to consider is whether having more people within your range would overwhelm your "other senses" though. What do you think?" * Keiko looks back to him a moment, then says flatly, She pauses a moment, pets her duck, then adds, (Or, put statistically, you've got targets AND range to deal with here.) (Ha, I knew that when she said it, but it's a good way to describe it ingame) (And, technically, multiple abilities, but she hasn't gotten to that yet.) * Heinrick nods and responds, with a tone and form of exhasperation. " He shrugs. <"Well, I'd like to think I've taught you with the ability to analyze but that would be wrong too, I suppose. You came with that." * Keiko is silent a moment, then says, * Keiko then finishes, petting her duck, * Heinrick smiles at Keiko. <"Well, if you remember it to this day, then I would rather say a reminder is not necessary."> He takes out a few of his blades. <"No, first off, I want to work on accuracy training but also finesse somewhat. But before we do that, I was thinking of making this training a little different as well..."> He puts the blades all in his left hand and reaches up, rubbing his neck slightly as a sign. * Keiko tilts her head, then thinks into his at least partly opened mind, ~Closer and closer. Is an apology waiting?~ * Heinrick thinks back. ~Is an apology expected?~ * Keiko shakes her head sligntly. ~Not really--hey, careful--but nice.~ The hey careful thought is matcheed by her right hand coming up to the squirrel, who leaps onto it and, as she lowers it, off again into the forest. * Heinrick then tosses his knives into his other hand. ~Besides, this is simply necessary for the training involved. I wouldn't think of it any different.~ * Keiko then looks back to him, purses her lips, and finishes, ~Perhaps it was just a thing of a day.~ Suddenly, her thought switches and she thinks faster, in Japanese, ~~ * Heinrick lets out a little sigh. ~I have been...considering our conversation from earlier. But apology is a...~ He pauses briefly as the Japanese hits him and it is understandable, though there's a slight delay in the translation speed. ~If you are meaning from yesterday or the day before, that is a more complicated situation. And I'd like you to understand that...~ The last is thought with amusement. ~But you are still notoriously stubborn on the listening (I know that didn't get all the way through.) (stubborn on the listening) (listening department.~) (ALMOST all the way through. * Keiko thinks back, in German, ~You're hard to listen to.~ * Heinrick thinks back, evenly. ~That is something I can't deny.~ He then picks up his daggers and speaks aloud. "The initial part is just a warm up, but to see how you deal with an unexpected situation. As such..." He tosses the daggers straight up in the air and doesn't move. The daggers turn about and fall straight towards him, point first. (How far aparet are they?) (Let's hear it for weighted tips!) (And two of them are fairly close together. The third is about half a shoulder width.) * Keiko frowns and takes a quick step forward, thinking at him, ~Still,~ as she steps pushes off his knee and goes up in the air, a grimace on her face as she does. Heinrick can almost feel her force field comes into place as she hovers at about 45 degrees, the daggers hopefully either being hit away by the bubble or bouncing off the top. (+forward, . steps forward, pushes) * Heinrick wasn't thinking of moving and actually as she goes over, she felt he was fairly confident in her abilities. The daggers bounce off her shield and two bounce off, imbedding themselves in the trees while one in the ground. ~Very well done. Although there were alternatives. You could have caught them in mid-air as well.~ * Keiko looks down at him, hair hanging over one shoulder, and she thinks back, ~I could have missed.~ * Heinrick looks up at her for a moment, impassively. ~If I had thrown them with my left arm?~ * Keiko thinks back, ~Then they'd have gone higher.~ She floats down to the ground and adds, ~If you died, nobody'd believe I didn't do it.~ * Heinrick smiles slightly at her. ~Yes, well. If you are anything like me, rest assured that is both true and not the only reason as well.~ He then goes back to neutral. ~Did you bring your gun?~ * Keiko thinks back, ~It was only a loan. Useful, but 'don't leave your room' did not include a pistol.~ * Heinrick doesn't respond. But he does hold out a pistol for her, handle first. * Keiko reaches out and grabs the pistol, force field down. She frowns at it a moment, looking down as her duck floats up to her shoulder, before she pops the clip out and checks if it is loaded, and what with. [The pistol is loaded with standard ammunition after all.] I do have an alternate clip for later, but I felt initially, it would be important for you to practice with the feel of an authentically weighted weapon. * Keiko puts the clip back and thinks at Heinrick, ~Practice what?~ Aiming. If you are going to use a gun, Keiko, we want to make sure that you don't always have to pin down the target so you can get in at point blank range. After you get further training, you can also train further with Luana and Togo but for now...we'll be using the trees as targets. * Keiko looks at him funny. ~Why... do you think I pin down the target? I see what Luana and Pavla have to do to shoot guns.~ ~That is what you did against Pavla, isn't it?~ ~Yes.~ * Keiko frowns a moment, then thinks, ~My powers aren't good enough, so... I use them for something that is.~ * Heinrick frowns at her a moment. ~What makes you say that?~ * Keiko looks back at him with that frown still on her face. ~Grozvi's people were all immune. Eileen can barely be touched. Pavla would have beat me eventually if I had had to try to crush her to death eventually. I couldn't beat Zarina. Apparently, looking at Kraad would make me wilt.~ * Keiko 's frown fades away and she just gives Heinrick a look. ~Do I need to continue?~ * Keiko looks back at the gun. ~I can.~ * Heinrick shakes his head. ~You can if you'd like. But I see no need. You seem to forget that we are a team for a reason. No one is going to be effective with everyone.~ * Keiko half-smiles. ~For a moment, I could handle Grozvi's soldiers. Some of the people guarding the tank...~ * Keiko 's smile fades away. ~A gun always works.~ ~And you can always get another.~ * Heinrick glances at her. ~And you did far better than I did with helping clear out that crowd.~ He tilts his head at her. ~A gun can jam. Someone may have a shield, such as you do. Or kevlar armor.~ * Heinrick goes to the nearest tree and tacks on a target next to it, then points to a place. ~We'll start practice on stationary targets.~ * Keiko shrugs slightly, then thinks, ~If guns don't matter, then why do you want me to use them?~ * Heinrick looks at Keiko. ~There is a difference between "not always effective" and "useless"~ * Keiko wraps the handle of the gun in both hands and says, ~Well, I'm waiting for when Togo throws up his hands on a mission and says, 'I have nothing', then.~ She brings the gun up and sights at the target. * Heinrick smirks. ~Togo is a guardian. We're always prepared. Didn't you notice that?~ * Keiko frowns a little. ~Guess Rosali needs to be a better guardian, then. Not enough armor.~ She tenses slightly, squinting, as she fires and actually manages to plant one on the target, although not dead center. * Heinrick nods slightly and reaches behind, levelling her arm. ~Keep your hand steady, like so, and squeeze the trigger.~ * Keiko thinks back, ~Used to it being louder.~ ~Or softer.~ ~Mentally or the gun?~ * Keiko keeps her arms as steady as she can manage. ~The gun. It's like thunder in Jamie's ears.~ * Keiko takes another shot, which is closer to the center of the target. * Heinrick nods slightly, watching her form. ~By the way, I was...considering what you'd said earlier.~ * Keiko thinks back quickly, after a moment, ~~ * Brett has joined #MC4 * ChanServ sets mode: +o Brett * Keiko lets out a breath and fires again, but this time the shot goes completely wide. She frowns at the target. ~Yes you did. As do I. I still think it's appropriate for you to coordinate with your team. And that is not going to change. Otherwise, people cannot get in a proper position even if your tactics are effective.~ * Keiko exhales noisily and glances at him. ~I coordinate fine with the other wards.~ * Heinrick hesitates for a moment before continuing. ~However...I realize it's not something I can order in other cases." He weighs in carefully his words and settles on, but then frowns. ~And your team does not consist of just the other wards as well.~ (*starts to settle on something) * Keiko is silent and looks away from Heinrick to aim the gun at the tree. Which is not Heinrick. She exhales slowly through her nose. * Heinrick shakes his head for a moment. ~As much as you might dislike that fact...~ He walks away for a bit to let her practice. * Keiko says under her breath, She fires again, barely hitting the target. * Heinrick replies, barely audible enough for her to hear. "And if I agree for it to be true or even to make sense, does that make it any more or less different?" * Keiko looks over at him and says, louder, * Keiko looks back at the target and grits her teeth, firing a wide shot. She then lowers her gun and takes a slow breath. * Heinrick takes a seat under a tree and takes a deep breath. "You can take a break if you'd like. I packed a late lunch." * Keiko mutters, She runs a hand back through her hair and raises the gun again, taking another slow breath, waiting a few moments before firing and hitting the target once again. * Heinrick nods slightly and adjusts his position. ~You recall when I asked you what you believe a guardian's duty is. Would you care to hear a bit of how I would define it?~ * Keiko glances over at him, looks back to the target, and then says, Another shot, another miss. Not with your shooting. * Keiko snorts and lowers the gun again. She rubs one of her shoulders, letting the other arm hang. Practice will. In due time. * Keiko bites her lip. * Heinrick stands slowly. ~Well, what you said is true. It's important to train you to complete the mission. And I suppose in that sense, we're tools of Blitzkrieg just as much as you are.~ He looks at the trees for a moment and plucks a leaf from one of them. ~But it is also important to remember what the word guardian in a literal meaning stands for.~ * Keiko looks over at him, still rubbing her shoulder. ~Protection. Is this protection?~ ~As best as it can be within the rules we're given, I'd assume.~ * Keiko looks back at him. ~So you want me to do as little as possible in the field, and as much as possible training. That way, you die first.~ ~If I had my choice, chemical dependency...it's ridiculous when you think of it. It only breeds resentment in those who desire freewill.~ * Keiko starts to roll her neck, but then stops and looks back at him oddly. * Heinrick smiles slightly. ~No. I hope for you to be useful in the field as well. It wouldn't do any good for someone to see you being useless...~ * Heinrick brushes off his coat and adjusts his glasses slightly. ~But I do expect you to trust that other people will be able to share the burden as well.~ * Keiko continues to look at him oddly, then throws up her hands, one of which is holding a gun. ~Why are you lecturing me about what mind control makes people feel? Why are you telling that other people can share the burden? I can FEEL them sharing the burden, Heinrick! I have seen what these commands have done to Jamie.~ ~Who said this was about mind control?~ * Keiko sighs and lowers her hands, looking aside. ~Nothing. Whatever. Forget it.~ * Heinrick settles back. ~And I do not remember saying this was a lecture either. Take it how you will. Dismiss it entirely if you wish. I'm merely having a conversation.~ * Heinrick leans back against the tree. ~We were discussing having training with others of the guardians as well anyways. Ones you were not bonded with.~ * Keiko is silent a moment or two, then thinks back at him, ~If you... want to work on teamwork, that makes sense.~ * Heinrick nods and tosses her the paint ball clip. ~Catch.~ * Keiko narrows her eyes at the clip and it slows to a stop in front of her, spinning. She pulls the other clip out of the gun, throwing it lightly up into space to join the floating clip, and then levels the gun at the target and fires one last time. Missing, of course. She then reaches up to the new clip and replies, ~What're these?~ * Heinrick smiles slightly. ~Paintball bullets. I would not wish for you to use real bullets if you're meant to shoot me. I don't believe I'm *quite* ready to die yet.~ * Keiko thinks back as she loads the clip into the gun, ~I'd have to hit you in a fleshy part.~ ~Or at all.~ ~Yes. And that would not benefit your practice much.~ * Heinrick walks slowly away from her. ~We do the best with the hand we're dealt with. Sometimes we're right. Sometimes we aren't. Guardians are fallible too, Keiko...~ * Heinrick turns towards her and smiles, looking over his shoulder. ~And if you believe something I say is wrong headed, I expect you to say so. I can make it an order, if you wish, but I suspect you might think it could be some sort of trick...~ * Keiko looks at him strangely, then thinks back at him, ~You don't need to make it an order. If it bothers you that much, I can do without orders for the rest of my life.~ * Heinrick snorts. ~Bothers me. You presume a lot.~ He heads away, then turns back. "I almost forgot..." He tosses her a piece of cloth. * Keiko lets the cloth float too as she thinks back, ~You said you thought chemical dependancy was ridiculous. ~ ~Do ridiculous things not bother you?~ * Heinrick just smiles mysteriously and doesn't answer that. In thought or in voice. ~Put that on. No eyes. I expect you to find and fire with your mind. And I will be trying to stay just out of range of your senses. So you'll need to push them a little.~ ~I don't expect you to be fully accurate but that is why we are training them.~ (And we can end when ready. Just wanted to point out the style of the training. But if there's any more additions to the convo, you can continue off that.) * Keiko purses her lips, then thinks back, ~Well... you are thinking.~ She looks at the blindfold a moment and a shudder goes through her before it floats in front of her. ~I am always thinking, Keiko. If I stopped thinking, I would go simply *insane*.~ * Keiko 's blindfold slowly ties itself around her eyes as she replies, ~Nobody should be alone without their own thoguhts.~ ~Perhaps. Perhaps not. Who are we to decide...~ * Heinrick edges just at the edge of her range and thinks, faintly to her. ~When you're ready...~ * Keiko 's blindfold cinches and then she raises her gun and squints behind her blindfold. she murmurs in Japanese. [And they trained like they never trained before! Or perhaps like they have trained before. Either way, mini end!]
