[You guys, meanwhile, continue on to Kaltenkirche, disobeying orders and possibly rushing headlong into danger. Cool.] (We're awesome.) (You saw the discussion in the main channel! We're following orders!) (We gave priority to our mission. :D) [Kaltenkirche is technically a city, but it's a small one. It expanded a bit a few years ago, when the casino came to town. Big Wins is easily the tallest building in the city, at fourty-six stories. If you remember the briefing, the top ten stories are all reserved for "special guests" only.] [The casino seems like quite a popular place. The parking lot is packed, and people are frequently coming and going.] (46 floors? Man, that's too much space to canvas.) ( Well, they're probably not in the lower 36 :P ) (True.) * Keiko has been silent the most of the way, looking out the window silently. She murmurs, as she looks at the hotel, "Quite a bit of space to cover." * Heinrick nods slightly and rubs his neck slightly. "We need to keep up a good front. Are you prepared?" ( Sight checks! ) 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keiko (2d8-2) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 3. 2d8-8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-8) and gets a natural 13 for a result of 5. (I seein': Good.) [Neither of you spots Odval in the parking lot.] (That's an easy check! She's naked.) * Keiko is silent a moment, then replies, slowly, "If you can give me a few moments... I can try to scout the location." She glances to Heinrick. (She'll think that at him instead! -""+~~) * Heinrick nods slightly. ~That would be helpful, but a little dangerous. I was thinking more along the lines of having the front desk staff look at the guests checked into the top floors and seeing if any recognizable names. Do you feel that's possible for you to scan?~ * Keiko shakes her head and looks more towards him. ~I mean...~ she trails off, then says, ~I... would prefer to trust you on this, Heinrick.~ * Heinrick nods. ~With that, we can find out what areas to scout.~ * Keiko is silent a moment, then replies, looking out the window, ~Won't that be obvious?~ ~People asking after the secret floors?~ * Heinrick smiles slightly. ~Who said we would be asking? We cannot help if the staff makes a "slight blunder" and looks at the wrong set of rooms, now can we?" ~And of course, if they're just looking at them and no one asks, no one could possibly *read* who's in the rooms, right?~ * Keiko purses her lips, nods slowly, then thinks back, ~Do you know what I mean by scouting?~ ~I was assuming flying up outside the windows of the upper floors.~ * Keiko shakes her head a moment, then thinks back, ~No. For this... I can...~ she switches into Japanese, ~~ ( Sounds painful ) (You have no idea.) [Hokay, so Keiko prepares to lobotomize herself. Heinrick! What are you going to do? (We're still talking!) * Heinrick is silent for a moment, then replies. ~That could work as well. Good thinking. We can narrow down our search first and salvage time.~ (And that just means Keiko heart has awakened to a new Persona) * Keiko nods slightly, then thinks, ~As long as you know.~ She scratches her neck, at her collar, and adds, ~I don't wish that explanation to go eveywhere.~ * Heinrick steps outside of the van and closes the door, glancing at the casino. He then dusts off his coat and starts to head slowly towards the inside. (We got ANOTHER van?) (s/van/car :P) * Keiko takes her gun out of her pocket and places it in the glovebox of the car, just in case, and then steps out and joins Heinrick in walking. * Keiko thinks at Heinrick, ~Am I your daughter again, today? Perhaps Odeval is more Asian than just her clothes.~ [You head to the casino. It's awesome! It's all flashy lights and a checkered carpet and gold walls. Unfortunately, there's also a bouncerlady. She's in her midtwenties, reasonably attractive, with a nose stud, bu... aw hell, not like she'll ever show up again. Anyhow, she lets most people right in, but when you approach, she's all like...] ["Excuse me!" She says to Keiko. "Can I see some ID?"] (Which brings up a whole host of questions, like 'Does she have a government ID, and what's the name on it?' Did she need one for the Cayhil mission?) * Heinrick smiles at the bouncer. "I'm sorry. I'm afraid my daughter's just passing through with me to get a room. That's alright, isn't it?" ( She does not! The Guardians have ID. ) [She glances at Keiko, then at Heinrick, then at Keiko. "Your, um, daughter, sir?"] * Heinrick raises an eyebrow, daring her to make a racial slur. "Is that a problem?" * Keiko glances up at the woman, then looks down and pets her duck quietly. Demure is good. ["Well, um, she doesn't exactly resemble you. Not to mention... uh, how old are you, sir?"] (Actually, Heinrick's old enough that it's not really *that* unusual. :P) * Keiko checks to see if she's got mind shield. * Heinrick shakes his head slightly and smirks. "My my, well I suppose I was in my youthful vigor in those days. But I *am* 36 now. It's not all *that* unusual." * Keiko will try to do a little light mind control, then, to help her buy the story, pushing with, ~Must have done some travelling in the orient... what else would she be, anyway?~ (And I know what the answer to that is. Shush.) (Ha. Luckily Heinrick's not a loliphile.) (He might be a eunich.) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keiko (2d8-4) and gets 12, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "Hey, a failure. Oh, by the way... I heard what you've been saying about me." (... what the hell, dice.) ( >.> ) (GEE THANKS FOR HELPING, KEIKO!) [She frowns deeply, then looks at Heinrick. "I'm sorry sir, but I can't allow her into the casino unless she can produce ID. It's just company policy."] ( This one is NOT MY FAULT >.< ) (It really isn't!) (I may have only failed by 2, but what a failure!) * Heinrick shakes his head a little. "You are a hotel as well, are you not? I promise you she won't be entering the casino. I'll make sure of that." ("...because I trained her to have enough range not to *need* to go into the casino." is what he doesn't say.) (Ha.) * Keiko gets a frown on her face as she feels her opinion shift away from where she wanted, and presses her hand into her duck a little with annoyance. Moosh the duck! ["We are a hotel, sir, but the casino is no place for minors. I understand your concerns, but the law is the law.] * Heinrick frowns slightly. "My understanding is that the law does not allow her in the *casino*. It does not state anything about the hotel. You may even accompany us to make certain we go to the front desk without setting foot in the casino..." (Law check? :D) ( Roll for it! ) 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8-2) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 7. (Booyah. I *knew* that skill would come in handy some day!) (Wow!) ( According to the law, Keiko is not allowed to drink, gamble, or enter "adult-themed" facilities, though adult-themed in this instance doesn't necessarily mean porn. :P She can stay at the hotel, though, as long as she is accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. ) (Love the wording on that!) (I was really thinking the roll to be for arguing the law as well, not just knowing it. But he argued what he knew anyhow.) ( I'm sure it's legally writting to be far more precise and simultaneously confusing, but you get the GM cliff-notes version. ) (Which only covers Page 24, Paragraph 43, Article G, Subsection I.A) ( Probably it's more like, "The party of the first part is prohibitted from partaking in activities such as drinking, gambling, etc. should the party of the first part be under the age of 18. The party of the second part reserves the right to remove or prevent the party of the first part from entering the facility or organization owned and/or operated by the party of the second part if the party of the first part fails to meet the r (See, all those laws are supremely misleading.) (You never hear about these parties all the lawyers and judges go to.) (Bet they're pretty swank too.) (ANYWAY.) ( Exception: Should the party of the first part be accompanied by the party of the third part (i.e. a parent of guardian), then the party of the second part may enter facilities belonging to or associated with the party of the second part provided the party of the third part accompany the party of the first part at all times. The party of the third part is responsible for the party of the first part's conduct, behavior, and adherenc ( I could go on, but you get the idea :P ) (ANYWAY.) ( Waiting for you, chief ) (Um... Rowyn said the last thing, yeah?) (Uh...) (I did the last action.) (And then made the law check.) ( Oh. Oops. ) [She pulls out a walkie talkie. "Hello? It's Bachmann. I've got a..." she pauses, "a man who claims to be travelling with his daughter, a minor. They want to check into the hotel. Should I..." she stops as there's some garbled crackle from the 'talkie. "Huh?" More garble. "Uh... Okay. Okay. I'll send them right over."] [She puts it away then points at a desk, where three bellhops are taking care of a mob of people. "Step right over there, sir, and they'll take care of you."] * Heinrick waits semi-patiently, but with the slight irritation of a guest being rudely irritated and responds "Thank you." curtly before getting in the crowd. * Keiko thinks at Heinrick as she follows, ~Subtle, today, we are not.~ * Heinrick looks ahead at the crowd. ~Not subtle would have gotten us thrown out of the hotel.~ [It takes some times, but eventually you're greeted by a bellhop with a nice smile and a round face and holy crap he could be Bigboy! ] * Keiko stays looking down slightly. ~Subtler than a hand grenade, maybe.~ [But he's not. He's a bellhop. His nametag reads "Bachmann."] ["How can I help you?"] * Heinrick nods slightly. "We were wondering if we could check into a room." [He nods. "Certainly, sir. However, I can only issue you one key. Please keep in mind your, uh, daughter must accompany you at all times while on the premisis, even if it's just to go to the vending machine down the hall."] That's perfectly alright. Could you check what rooms you have available? * Keiko thinks at him, ~No change from normal.~ * Heinrick smiles at the bellhop. ~See if you can direct him a little then.~ [He nods. "No problem, sir. We're a busy place, but we almost always have vaccancies." He looks in a book, then smiles. "You're in luck, sir, we have a lovely room on the third floor. Easy access to the ground level."] (A book? @_@) (Welcome to 1950, Hotel. ._.) (It's the authentic, antique experience!) (But seriously. Hotels *nowadays* don't have books.) Hmm. How large is the room? ( The lobby? Pretty damn big. ) ( And call it a computer then :P ) (Well, if it's a computer, then we're trying to get him to typo in the list for the secret rooms, right?) I prefer a room with a good view as well. Perhaps something a little higher? With a large window? (And then hope we can get a read off him for at least some of 'em?) (There!) (Am I remembering correctly?) (Because if so, I need to make another subtle MC push.) (And yes.) ( Oh crap, that was IC >.> ) (Yeah, it was.) * Keiko glances up to the man for a moment as she tries to think number-y thoughts at him, in the top 10 floor range, in the hopes he'll enter it in and look at them before realizing the typo. [The bellhop nods. "I can put you in a higher room. Let's seeeeee..... There's a room available on the thirty-first floor. It's got a lovely view of the southern part of the city."] (Probably should roll that and then Brett redescribe.) (Can I try to slip that MC in before he succeeds at finding us a room, yeah?) ( You can, sure ) ( Try not to crit fail though :P ) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keiko (2d8-4) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 3. (That's much less than a critfail!) ( Hokay. ) [The bellhop nods. "I can put you in a higher room. Let's seeeeee..... There's a room available on the fourty-second floor. It's got a lovely view of the southern part of the city."] (... ha. Not quite the mistake I was hoping he was making.) (...It wasn't totally the plan, but it works too ^^;) * Keiko thinks at Heinrick, ~It didn't throw back any occupied rooms for him to see.~ * Heinrick nods slightly. "That works well if it's available then..." He doesn't betray any hint of knowledge so far and tries to play it off as not noticing the mistake. [He nods. "Certainly, sir." He types a few keys, then holds out a card. "Here you go." And he points at a set of elevators. "Take the far right elevator to get there."] * Heinrick nods slightly and thinks to Keiko. ~That push worked a little *too* well...~ Thank you. * Heinrick goes towards the elevator with Keiko in tow. Because she needs to go with him! (Also damn, I'm getting tired early.) * Keiko thinks back as she goes with him, ~Who can predict the space between ones' ears.~ ( Could be a good place to stop ) * Heinrick nods. ~When we get to the rooms, that'll be your time to scout. You can act like you're sleeping if there's any surveillance.~ (Or you can *really* sleep and screw with them even more!) (Mecha: You wanna stop here? Since this is Keiko's show for a bit, you can go on a little longer.) [Ending here too!]
