[Day: Monday, April 14th. Time: 12:30 p.m.] (Hmm.) (A long setup!) [Heinrick is off to visit Odval Choybalsan. Yay! That means he gets to visit the boring brown three-(partiall four!) -story Section 1 building in Berlin. The German flag flies proudly outside the structure. You've been there before. Right inside the entrance is a metal detector, and three guards standing by. There's a notice: "No weapons carried by unauthorized personelle allowed beyond this point."] [Start] * Heinrick walks into the headquarters and is actually dressed casually for once! He doesn't have his duster on and instead is wearing a red shirt, jeans, and beige tennis shoes. Although still with the blue-tinted glasses that he wears. He comes to the entrance and then smirks a little. "Ah. Already we have a hindrance." He gestures to one of the guards. "Excuse me..." [One of the guards smiles pleasantly. "Can I help you?"] * Heinrick nods slightly. "Yes." He points to the detector. "I have to warn you. I'm going to have a slight difficulty with this." He taps his left arm lightly. "This is a replacement you see." [He nods. "Manual scan it is, then. What's your business here?"] * Heinrick gestures slightly to the guard. "I'm here to meet a Ms. Odval Choybalsan. Do you happen to know if she might be available soon? I can wait if it's not too long." [He shakes his head. "Wouldn't know, sir. I can call, if you like."] * Heinrick nods. "If you would, could you? I don't think she's expecting me. If she asks, could you tell her a Heinrick Engels is here for her?" [He nods. "Certainly."] * Heinrick waits for the guards to instruct him on the manual scan or make the call. Whichever they're doing first. [He then actually does! "Connect me to the labs, please? ... Hello? Can you connect me with an Odval Choybalsan please? Thank you....... Hello, Ms. Choybalsan? This is Gerry at the front desk. A Mr. Heinrick Engels is here to see you. .... Okay, I'll tell him."] [He hangs up, then turns back to Heinrick. "She sais she's on her way down."] * Heinrick nods and goes through the detector then waits for the manual scan, holding his arms out. [He shakes his head. "That won't be necessary, sir, she's coming down to the entrance."] * Heinrick nods and smiles then. "Thank you for your time. I'll be waiting outside then." [He nods!] [Time passes.] * Heinrick waits! [And then eventually Odval emerges. "Dr. Engels!" She's wearing a white lab coat! over a blue Chinese dress that's slit up the sides. Talk about odd. She's carrying a long, flat box in one hand.] (I like her style.) ( She always wears those types of dresses. 'Cept when she's naked. :P ) * Heinrick chuckles slightly as he stands. "Well, I suppose I do still carry my doctor title as a civilian." He puts his hands in his pockets. "Do you have a few minutes? I wanted to check perhaps if you had some time to meet over coffee." [She smiles. "Sure. Actually I was just about to take my lunch."] It might be best not to go out in a lab coat. Although if that *is* the impression you would like to portray, I shant stop you. ["You don't think? I'll put it in my car, then."] * Heinrick shrugs slightly and smirks. "Well I wouldn't know. I'm not much to judge fashion sense. I would probably think a plaid leisure suit the latest fashion." ["It's no trouble. My car's just on the next block over."] * Heinrick keeps his hands in his pocket and nods. "I'll walk then." [Odval smiles and starts walking. But just a step before she stops. "By the way, this is for you." She holds out the box. "I wanted to do something for you to show my gratitude. I hope it's not inappropriate."] * Heinrick chuckles as he takes it. "Not inappropriate. But unnecessary." He sighs slightly and shrugs his shoulders. "Honestly, it did end up being a hassle in the end. Not that I didn't expect it." Odval frowns. "I'm sorry to hear that. But I certainly appreciate it." You get to Odval's car! Which is not a snazzy corvette. It's really just a four-door Toyota.] [Odval opens the door and tosses her lab coat in. Her dress is sleeveless.] * Heinrick replies neutrally. "I just respond in the way that I feel was best. Apparently the organization would prefer to think of you as disposable." [She shuts the door, walking away. "I know their reasoning behind it. But it doesn't make me feel any better."] * Heinrick pushes his glasses up slightly as he walks. "Besides 'The company we were trying to save is our funding source'?" [Odval blinks. "Funding source?"] * Heinrick shakes his head. "It's not important." He turns to actually look at her now. "What's your reasoning then?" ["That they weren't going to kill me." Odval glances down as she walks along. "That they'd use me as a hostage in negotiations. That the worst that could happen to me is I'd be raped, and that's an acceptable loss for capturing van Trier." She shudders slightly, wrapping her arms around herself. Meanwhile, you come to a Starbucks.] Yes. The flaw in that reasoning is that we were too well expected. Do they think that someone who plans that much wouldn't think of other contingencies? [It does not immediately explode.] * Heinrick goes to order his coffee, then turns to her. "What would you like?" ["Just coffee. And maybe a bagel, too."] * Heinrick orders a just coffee and a latte. And a maybe bagel. [Bagel GET!] * Heinrick lets Odval get her own bagel/coffee and stakes/stalks out a seat. [Odval gets coffee and a bagel! And jons Heinrick. "If I learned anything about Stolt, it's that people underestimate him because of his appearance."] * Heinrick smirks slightly at that. "Oh I don't know about that. I mean look at me after all. I'm just your average middle-aging man. Nothing special." [Odval chuckles. "An average middle-aging man with well above average intelligence, a pocket of harmful chemicals and a psychic sidekick."] (She's so getting made to think she's a chicken.) * Heinrick snorts. "I doubt Keiko'd appreciate much you calling her a sidekick." He sighs slightly. "It does make me wonder sometimes. Ah well." [Odval blinks. "Partner, then?"] And my chemicals are on hold for now, I'm afraid. * Heinrick adds. "Partner's the wrong word too." [Odval shakes her head. "I'm sorry, I don't know much about section 2."] * Heinrick looks over his hand slightly, inspecting it. "Well. When first introduced to it, they used the terms "guardian" and "ward." I feel those are more than accurate." [She nods. "Okay, then."] * Heinrick smiles slightly at her. "It is really very complicated. So I don't blame you for being confused. Though I didn't come here to talk business." [Odval smiles. "Alright. What would you like to talk about?"] * Heinrick folds his hands. "I was just coming to check on you. After the incident." ["That's kind of you. It was hard for a while, but I'm doing well now. Thank you."] * Heinrick lets out a little breath and smirks, flicking his hair out of his face slightly. "I think you must have me mistaken." He shrugs his shoulders slightly and leans back. "If you want to see it as kindness, I suppose that's fine. Personally, it was more useful to complete that mission and regain someone who was a part of our team than to go on a hopeless endeavour." [Odval blinks. Then turns her gaze down. "... Oh." She eats her bagel.] * Heinrick shakes his head slightly. "Well, I suppose we are just all pawns in the end. Personally, I've never cared for that point of view." ["Yeah..."] If I might ask, what first got you involved in this sort of agency? You don't seem as if you exactly...belong here. [She looks up. "What makes you think that?"] * Heinrick smirks slightly as he sips his coffee. "You care." [Odval frowns. "Everyone in Section 1 cares, doctor. Everyone wants to protect people. It's just they have different ideas of how to go about it."] * Heinrick nods slightly. "Perhaps that is true of Section 2 as well. I just suppose sometimes I question the means in which it's gone about..." [Odval nods.] * Heinrick picks up his coffee and holds it just beneath his mouth. "We don't always have the luxury of choosing what we can protect, doctor. But I suppose... we do the best we can." He tips it so he takes a sip. ["That, we do." She sips her own coffee, then looks at her watch. "I should be getting back."] * Heinrick nods. "I didn't mean to keep you. But I do wish you the best of luck." He stands slowly. "I can walk you back if you'd like." [She nods. "Alright."] (And unless she's got a grand question on the way back, we can end it there. They can still casually chat) [End!]
