[Day: Tuesday, May 5th. Time: 1:20 p.m.] (STILL CINCO DE MAYO. EVERYBODY BOOZE.) [You're back in the briefing room, including Rose. Apparently, Lydia has something to say.] [So we'll just get to that. Start!] (How long has it been since the last mission?) (And how am I feeling?) [Lydia says something. "We may have a break," is what she says.] ( one day, and you feel like you just got out of the infirmary. 'Cause you did. ) * Jamie is far less jumpy than she was a few hours ago for the last briefing, both because she had her talk with Luana and because her Guardian is awake again. ( Which means LOW HP :X ) (Do we have a log up, too?) * Roseli is there. She's not looking so hot, slumped over the table and staring into her cup of coffee. ( To be fair, though, most people have injuries, except Keiko and Heinrick. ) (XD) * Heinrick pushes up his glasses and looks faintly amused, but doesn't say all that much in response really. ( And Togo just has a few scratches. But since I have less than 3 hours....... ) * Keiko wears what she wore before! Thankfully, Togo didn't ruin it. She seems to have calmed more or less back to normal, which is to say, boring and staring slightly off not at Lydia. * Togo is still looking a bit banged up from yesterday, but not that badly. Armor took the brunt of it, thankfully. * Luana is wearing the same and drinking orange juice while she messes with her holocomputer. Still surfing the 'net about old guns, although she's moved forward a century. ["We may have a break," is what Lydia just said. Without wasting time on useless opening description, she pulls up a picture right away: A fourty- seven year old skinny guy with wire-framed glasses. "Weber pulled this up a few minutes ago. Adolf Borsh, lawyer for Really Good Lawyers, Inc."] * Roseli looks up from her coffee, squints at the picture, and has a drink of set coffee. "Good name for a firm." (s/set/said) (Builds confidence.) As long as it's not false advertising, yes. * Keiko flicks her eyes to look over at the image for a moment. * Jamie isn't the snarky comment type and so doesn't add one. ["Yes, well, they specialize in taking on defense for terrorists. They've been on Blitzkrieg's surveillance list for over a year."] * Heinrick waits to see how this is a break. Because somehow, this doesn't seem very break-y. * Keiko says, quiet and dry, "I suppose it is false after all." * Luana whispers to Keiko, "Maybe they're just really good at lawyering?" * Keiko blinks and looks over at Luana, seeming startled that she's replying, then thinks back at her, ~I... guess they have to be.~ * Togo gently facepalsm. "Oh god, please let it just be an evil law firm and not an evil demon law firm. I had enough of that with Dingotapir & Liver back in the day." (er, facepalms) * Luana thinks back pleasantly, ~It sounds like mission time. Although I wish we'd all gotten more time to rest.~ ["A hidden camera in Borsh's office indicates that he was in contact with Freidrich Stolt yesterday, hours before the Blitzkrieg raid. They met sometime this morning, where Stolt acquired the remaining viral cannister from Borsch. We know he's planning to use it in an attack, and soon. But we don't know where."] (What would a facepsalm be like? Also, that was a terrible joke.) (... A very strange way of playing the organ?) (The Wolfram and Hart, I mean.) (I try.) (I know you do, that's the problem! XD) (It was quite the subtle bad ref.) ["So, here's your assignment: get to Borsh and make him talk. See what he knows about Stolt's plan for the virus."] * Roseli nods, putting her chin on her hand and having more coffee. She just got out of the infirmary; don't expect her to do anything major unless she has to. * Keiko reaches over to her arm and thinks back, with a thin smile, ~I'll just have to be the one who gets hurt this time.~ (I'd make a joke about the lawyer's name, but that would just be some Borsh Belt stuff.) ( I couldn't think of a name, so I just made one up. ) ( He was almost called Gary Gulash ) * Heinrick glances for a minute. "...How exactly did a lawyer get their hands on a viral cannister?" * Luana thinks back, startled, ~Don't you dare!~ (I like Gary Gulash better.) Probably an intermediary. Taking advantage of the legal protections lawyers get. ["Good question. According to one of your earlier reports, the Society reclaimed the cannister from Stolt during your first raid against him. The most likely scenario is they gave it to Borsh, either so he could use it or pass it to someone else, and Stolt somehow convinced Borsch to give him the cannister instead."] * Keiko pats Luana's arm with more of a smile, glancing over at her, then looks back forward as she thinks back, ~Hopefully he's not a cybernetic lawyer assassin.~ ( Nah. He's actually a vampiric werewolf ninja ) ~Agh, heaven forbid. Not until everyone's healed up, anyway.~ (... It's too bad Ten's dead think of all the fun she and Keiko could have mind controlling different parts of a cyborg) (It could be a game!) * Togo nods and stands up. "If anyone needs to use my medpak on the way there, lemme know. I know a few of you are still banged up." Means Borsch might be on the run from the Society. Can use protection from them as an angle? * Roseli looks to Lydia for confirmation. * Jamie is probably still bruised and battered from yesterdays "landing" but since she tends twords long sleaves and skirts for her chinese-style dresses it can be hard to tell. * Heinrick adjusts his glasses again. "Possibly. It would not be a proper "society" without legal protection." (High five!) ["Possibly. I don't really care how you get the information, so long as you do it quickly."] Know where he is? ["Yes. He's right in his office, at the moment."] * Togo wanders over to Jamie, and puts the medpak down on the table in front of her. "Give it to Roseli or Luana when you're done." * Heinrick smirks. "Do we have a warrent? I'd hate to be tagged with legal prosecution." * Jamie nods and applies it to herself. ["The legal issues can wait until after lives are saved, Doctor Engels."] * Heinrick smirks again. "I had a feeling you'd say that..." Let's get going. *heads for the door* ( Woo! Finarry ) * Luana follows her guardian out. [And so you go to the garage, get in a van, and go!] * Heinrick shrugs. "Well then. Far be it for me to impede a well-thought out investigation." He heads out. * Keiko watches Luana and Togo bolt off, and then lets out a soft sigh before floating to her feet and drifting off! [But on the way there you crash just outside of a small town called Quiet Mountain.] (Who failed their driving check!) (Not my fault! I wasn't driving this time!) [How you managed to do that when you were never supposed to leave Berlin is beyond me, but... (Jamie, Luana and Rose get 20hp, assuming they all want to use the medpak) (Sweet) (Nice! Yes, please.) [Ok. What really happens is you get to the building. It's a huuuuuuuge thirty-story (ok, so not THAT huge) building with a nice concrete park out front. It actually houses a number of companies. Really Good Lawyers, Inc. is on the 25th floor.] (coo') [Also, there's a hot dog.... erm, frankfurter guy out front. In case you're hungry. ] (Session Title: Laughter on the 25th Floor) [And a bunch of pedestrians. ] * Keiko has no money, and doesn't try to steal any food from the guy for fun. * Jamie proves that she is capable of being near civilians and not killing them... immediatly. * Luana just hangs out with her guardian. (Ha ha ha.) (But if Jamie did kill him, would she do it with relish?) [The building looms overhead.] * Heinrick looks up at the building slightly. "So how does one draw information out of a weasly lawyer, perhaps.." He sighs. "I suppose the best approach is the non-traditional one." * Roseli glances around, then shrugs. "That would be?" ...Asking questions first? (*falls over laughing. Ow*) (Point Luana) * Togo tilts his head at Luana, and grins. * Heinrick glances at Luana and smiles. "Well, that's a possibility." He gestures towards Keiko. "But I was thinking of something a little more invasive and less detectable." (Hello, we have an apointment. *Mind Control* "I'll send you right in.") * Keiko looks over at Luana with a thin smile, then looks back to Heinrick and nods slightly. You two want to head in alone, or should we all come? Best not to cause a scene. Think we should keep the number of people in Borsch's office to the safest minimum. * Roseli looks to Heinrick for confirmation; this is his show, after all. * Heinrick nods. "This *is* a lawyer we're talking about. Anything suspicious would come back to haunt us." * Jamie fidgits a bit. * Heinrick puts his hands in his pockets. "It would be best to be prepared just in case though. Keiko. Are you ready?" * Keiko nods slightly at Heinrick, then hands Luana her duck and thinks at her, ~Kioshi is suspicious.... keep him safe.~ * Luana takes the duck with wide eyes. ~Sure. Of course.~ She hugs the duck closely. * Roseli nods. "Jamie and I will stay outside and keep watch from here. Togo, do you think you can find an unobtrusive position for yourself and Luana inside, so you can help Heinrick if needed?" * Keiko smiles slightly, then turns towards the door and runs her finger along her collar nervously, now that she's got empty hands. Would it help if I looked younger? (And I'll have you people know that I ask questions first. One question.) ("Do you feel lucky?") * Jamie perks at getting an order and gently probes the building's security. * Roseli looks to Luana, pauses for a moment, then just says, "Togo's call." She turns to Jamie. * Jamie looks up at her guardian. Deploy helicopters. Get a view of Borsch's office and any other security points on the twenty-fifth floor. * Togo nods. "We could probably get off a couple of floors down and set up in the stairwells." (One question is a good question!) (I assume they've been replaced since yesterday?) (Brett?) ( Yah ) (Should have been; you spent CP on them.) ( But they've been replaced with one big helicopter that has several cameras on it. ) (Only one? That's weird.) ( It's a big one ) * Luana holds the duck up to her face for a moment, then removes it. The angles of her face are softer now and her eyes are slightly larger. The overall effect makes her look several years younger. * Jamie climbs back into the van and sets her smaller helecopters free. (Hey, I've spent enough CP on mini helecopters to buy two battlechoppers.) * Heinrick heads on in, glancing at Keiko and adjusting his collar along the way. (All here in same chan?) ( Let's have Heinrick and Keiko join #Office ) * Togo follows, motioning for Luana to follow. "We'll camp out in the stairwell in case you need help." (Togo's a camper!) * Luana hurries after him, hugging Kiyoshi tightly. (*whaps Rowyn with a tent*) ( Jamie can join in, too. ) ( #office ) (*ponders and then decideds that Togo's sense of fair play would keep him from corpse camping.) (Brett, Luana and I'll get off the elevator a few floors down and walk up to near the 25th) (Jamie on the other hand would mine spawn points.) (Well, Ten.) (Oh no, MC4 MMO.) (MC4 FPS!) (!) (MC4 dating sim. x_x) (That so doesn't work on just about any level, Jesse.) (No, the dating sim was Arcana) ( K ) (Granted.) (Speaking of which, Brett needs to post more of the BAD END.) * Roseli watches the choopers and people go, then looks to Jamie. "Hungry?" * Jamie looks back at Roseli. "A a little?" ( I keep meaning to, but every time I go to do it, I decide I'd rather play video games. ) (Let us know when we're in position, Brett.) ( I assume you just went up with Keiko and Heinrick, so yah, you can be there. ) * Roseli smiles, slightly. It's the first time Jamie's seen her smile in quite a while. "Me too. Let's get some food." She heads over to the frankfurter stand. * Jamie follows her and comprimises the Realy Good Security(TM) at the same time. * Togo hangs out in the stairwell! He doesn't smoke cigarettes and gossip, though. "You have any preferences on what you wanna work on in training going forward?" Grenades. Um, more uses for my pyrokinesis. * Luana adds slowly, "Maybe some... socializing stuff? In case I can't fight my way out of something?" The expression on her face suggests that she would rather blow everything up than talk her way out of anything. ( Grenades + more uses for pyrokinesis = dynamite!! ) ... I might need to call in a guest guardian for the latter. I can bullshit a little, but I've never been a smooth charmer. I mean... it sounds useful? Doesn't it? ( Oh great. Here comes Ashley. ) * Roseli gets to the stand and orders two frankfurters, receiving them in short order, as is the way with such stands. She hands one to Jamie. "Careful. It's hot." None of us girls are very good at talking to people, so... Not a bad idea, actually. I'll talk to the other guardians, see if we can figure something out. *pauses* Jamie's probably not gonna take to it very well, but it's worth a shot. * Jamie takes it very gingerly, as instructed, and looks at it cluelessly. * Luana winces. "Right. I might have to apologize to her." ( Togo needs to hire James Bond. ) It's a frankfurter. ( It's a GERMAN hotdog. ) (Heinrick can teach you how to talk.) * Roseli starts walking, heading back to the van. "You never had one before?" * Jamie shakes her head and follows. What for? * Roseli chuckles. "Okay. You hold it like this, see... and bite into one of the small ends." Don't touch the meat with your fingers, and be careful not to burn your tongue." She demonstrates, taking a bite and chewing. (Get rid of that quote in the middle there.) ( Holy crap. Rose teaches hotdog ettiquite. ) ( Jamie better be paying attention. This is on the test. ) For suggesting something for us that might make her uncomfortable? I don't know. I never know what to -say- to her. (Jamie probably genuinely thinks so. ;P) 2d8-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keiko (2d8-4) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 4. * Jamie holds the sausage-inna-bun as shown and lifts it to her mouth, where she freezes up. "I...I think it's still too hot." She talked to me yesterday about Rose! Me! I tried, but I'm no good at that kinda stuff. * Roseli smiles sympathetically. "Then wait for it to cool off a little." (Or today, rather) (Yesterday nothing, that was a few hours ago!) There's no hurry. Unless something goes wrong, but you can always have one later. * Jamie nods. "It, uhm... smells good." * Togo hrms. "Well... she's reaching out. That's good, I suppose. Best thing I can suggest is to let her talk. Ask questions she can't answer yes-or-no, if you get the chance again." * Luana asks weakly, "Can't I just get Keiko to do it? I'm better with fire. And guns." (And fiery guns!) * Roseli gets to the van and sort-of-sits on the tail end. She nods to Jamie. "It does." This is followed by a smile. (We are working on that one, actually!) Maybe you should try some different kinds of food and drink. You like chocolate a lot. There's no telling what else you might like, too. And learning how to eat them without surprise makes you less obvious in public. * Jamie nods twice. * Roseli takes a big bite out of her frankfurter now that it's cooled some, chews, and swallows. "Do you think you might want to?" * Jamie has an expression of panic flit across her face as she gets asked to make a decision, but it passes as soon as she realizes there's a safe answer. "Maybe?" * Togo shrugs. "If she opened up to you, it must be because she trusts you a bit. Not saying to press the issue... that's probably a terrible idea anyway... but if she brings it up, try and let her run with it." * Roseli nods, her expression going somewhat carefully blank, but at least it's not disapproving. She eats more !hot dog. Okay. I guess. As for the grenades and the fire control... yeah, we can work on that. Grenades are good for many occasions. (Parties, weddings...) (Funerals, of course.) * Jamie holds a wrist over her second lunch, trying to judge its heat, and finaly brings it up to her mouth and takes a small bite. (Naturally.) (And sometimes, formal dances.) * Roseli watches Jamie for her reaction. (This hotdog is deceptively not chocolate.) (TOMFOOLERY) Throwing a grenade is like throwing a baseball, really. But on a time limit, and if you make a mistake you blow yourself up. I've... never played baseball. (Luana: Not Actually American.) * Jamie 's eyes widen as a hot greasy thing that tastes like the embodyment of MEAT introduces itself to her tastebuds. She doesn't choke on the one bite, but she's not enjoying it. (I am far away! I can't not enjoy the meat with you.) * Roseli watches Jamie for a little while so she can eventually swallow, then asks, "Do you like it?" * Jamie shakes her head. ... hmm. Then I lack an appropriate sports analogy. But the point holds. *pauses* If I can remember the point. Learning new things. Ah, right. Grenades good. Getting hit by grenades bad. Key lesson will be learning the timing, the blast radius, and when *not* to use them. * Roseli smiles slightly at Jamie to show she's done nothing wrong. "Then don't eat it. I'll get you something you do like later to make up for it." 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jamie (2d8) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 9. * Roseli goes back to eating her own frankfurter, because obviously she does like hers. And she's freaking starving. Can't forget that. This sounds somewhat similar to the lesson about swords. ('Pointy end in the other guy?') ( Pfft. Luana already knows that lesson, Togo. Remember the auction? ) * Jamie watches her guardian eat, and when she reaches the end of the sausage, offers up her own. (They're fine as long as you stay out of their range. Know what the range is, don't be there.) Same principle, I guess, just on a bigger scale. It's a judgement thing... knowing when your friends are just a bit too close to risk it, or being aware when your chase has led you into a fire factory. * Roseli finishes it off, then laughs, taking the sausage. "Thank you." * Jamie nods and looks away, her ears turning slightly pink. In the last case, I wouldn't really need a grenade to blow things up anyway. Granted. * Roseli has a bite of the new sausage, chewing and swallowing. Hopefully Jamie doesn't have any bad germs. "So hungry," she says, conversationally. "Feel like I've been hooked up to an IV for a week." * Jamie mumbles. "A day." We'll do some basic throwing practice, of course, work on distance and trajectories, but there's gonna be some scenerio work as well. As for the fire... we've talked about a couple of possibilities. We'll try a few things and see what works. A day, I heard. Got briefed, too. Kind of. * Roseli looks to Jamie. "How have you been?" Right. * Jamie 's eyes widen as she mentaly flails for an aproprate responce and she blurts out. "I I I You're not angry I crashed?" * Roseli blinks. "No." * Togo rubs his neck. "Anything else going on you feel like talking about? 'Nope' is a completely acceptable answer, mind you." You did a good job. I should have predicted they might stop the train before I ordered you to do it. Not your fault. * Jamie sways slightly as the releaf and praise wash over her. * Luana smiles and hugs Kiyoshi. "Nope." * Roseli lets Jamie do that, eating more sausage. Yum! ("On the other hand, you crashed the chopper in a no parking zone. Drop and give me... INFINITY!") That's good. Means I haven't horribly screwed up anything lately. Always reassuring. I'll be sure to let you know if I think you've screwed up, sir. ( Would anyone mind if I ended here? ) Please do. (Feel free) (Go ahead) (Go for it. ^^) ( I'm feeling really out of it right now, and not RPing Mr. Borsh in the gloified way he was meant to be. ) (Which is to say, gloriously?) (For Mother Russia!) (Sokay. Next week, maybe!) [To be continued!]
