[Day: Friday, May 8th. Time: 11:30 a.m.] [Heinrick called Rose and Karin to interview the peoples.] [Go] * Heinrick stalks into Briefing Room #2 with other guardians in tow. Though it will be helpful eventually to know who is awaiting us for interviewage. * Roseli enters in tow, because she is not one for rocking the boat. She comes fully equipped with coffee, pen, notebook, gun, and drugs. (A healthy combination!) (I think so.) [There's a buncha people in there. Four, actually. In no particular order, we'll start with the nerdy guy. What can I say? He's a guy in his mid 30s, wearing a blue-and-white sweater and a pair of slacks. He's got a laptop and messey short hair. He's not unlike Shig, actually. Except he's not Japanese.] (Purple eyes?) ( Nope. Green ) (Okay.) [The second is a 20-something woman who couldn't be older than Karin. She's in a marine uniform, so I guess she's a marine. Dur. She's got a sword! And as soon as you walk into the room, she stands tall (relatively, as she's quite short) and smartly salutes. "SIR!"] * Roseli nods at the woman. She must understand the whole short military chicks thing. [The third is a blond woman with a white shock of hair that falls over one eye. She looks suspiciously like Dr. Blight. But instead of a jumpsuit she's wearing a tight dress and a low top. And high heels.] * Heinrick is just scanning the crowd for now, looking them over like a bird scowering prey, keeping his arms fully linked behind his back. [And finally, there's a guy who's resting his legs on the table, his arms folded behind his head. He looks to be in his mid 30s, and rather well built. His eyes are closed, and he's got a straw sticking out of his mouth.] (Seriously? Does he have a floppy hat and a banjo?) * Dicesuke has joined #mc4 d2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Brett (d2) and gets a natural 1 for a result of 1. [As a matter of fact, he does!] (Oh lord. XP) (Oh, Karin's here too, right?) [Karin is, in fact, there. She does not have a banjo or a floppy hat.] (Also dude. 11:30 pm interview? These people are dedicated!) (It *is* late. There's a reason I have coffee, and it's not because I'm addicted. ... Really!) ( Um ) ( It's a.m. ) (###) (...it says a.m.) (Err, p.m.) ( Well it's a.m. ) (Okay, that makes more sense!) (Right. Let me mentally change that and we can move on.) [Everyone looks your way when you enter! Though only the marine salutes. Banjoman cracks an eye open, though. Briefly.] * Heinrick nods to everyone. "Good morning." He takes a seat. "I trust you all know why you are here then. I'd like to know, however, if you have been informed into who *we* are exactly though. Control did not share with me exactly how much you know about this process..." [The marine stamps her foot. "Sir! No, sir!"] * Roseli walks in after Heinrick, having a seat next to him and also on the opposite side of the table. She gives the crew a good, obvious once over. * Heinrick smiles and turns to Roseli. "You can tell her she can be at ease. I'm no good with military matters." * Roseli rolls her eyes slightly, then barks to the marine, "At ease, soldier." Pause, then a small smile. "This is an interview. Talk normally." ["Sir! Yes, sir!" She relaxes a bit. If by relaxes, you mean goes from a salute to folding her hands behind her back.] * Roseli makes a small 'hm' at the woman's behavior and opens her notebook, flipping through the pages to a fresh one. (OOC Rose has determined that this woman is parodying her. XP) [Euroshig speaks up. "Um... n-nobody told us we would be interviewed by other Guardians."] [Karin look them all over, by the by. Then looks at you two.] (Oh, has Karin sat down yet? ^^) * Heinrick clears his throat slightly. "Anyhow, I'm Heinrick Engels. And this is Roseli Tavares and Karin Oswald. We'll most likely be working in the same capacity so we would like to know a bit of who is being accepted onto the team." ( She did while nobody was looking. ) * Heinrick then glances at Euroshig for a moment. "Is there any difficulties with that?" [Karin nods when Heinrick introduces her.] * Roseli nods when her name is mentione, as well. (mentioned) [He rapidly shakes his head.] * Heinrick smiles slightly at Euroshig. "You do seem to be well-informed though. Where did you come by this information?" ["Well, Ms. Sohn t-told us earilier."] Ah. Well. That's fine then. As I said, I wasn't privy to exactly what Ms. Sohn had told you or not. Although I was not quite expecting everyone in the same room such as this. Ah well..." * Roseli looks to Heinrick. "Have them introduce themselves and list qualifications?" [Karin shrugs. "We could talk to them one by one in my office. That's probably better."] * Roseli nods at Karin. * Heinrick folds his hands in front of him and nods to Roseli briefly. "Indeed. You can go in any order, but we would like to know a bit more about who we're dealing with. And I also agree with Ms. Oswald too." He turns to the others. "But I believe sharing a bit about themselves so we know a bit about their background initially can be done here. Agreed?" * Roseli nods once. She has her pen ready. * Heinrick turns back to them. "Name and backgrounds then to start us off. And what brought you here today." And not just that you're here for the interview. No smart-ass answers, please. [The marine speaks up immediately. "Nadine Vogel. Oberlieutenant of the 77th batallion. I'm told I was selected based on my ability to train troops, sir!"] * Heinrick smirks slightly at Roseli. "No nonsense." [Karin just blinks.] * Roseli sort of blinks at the marine, too, and makes a note of that, along with another note: "troops, not children." * Heinrick just nods slightly. He's the only one out of the three who doesn't have a reaction. "And what is your experience?" ["I am in charge of my batallion's daily training regimen, sir!"] * Heinrick nods slightly and glances at the other interviewees expectantly but doesn't say a word. [Euroshig stares at her. Long enough that he misses his chance to go next. Dr. Blight goes instead. "Hmmm... Well, I can't top that. I'm Doris Shaffer, and I'm afraid I'm just a lonely FAO agent."] ( Cultural arts (Germany)! ) * Roseli notes Doris' statement and has a sip of coffee. Mmm, coffee. (Wait. You can get CA in a country?) (News to me.) ( Uh ) Ok, wait, there's a better one 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Roseli (2d8) and gets 16, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "Death is temporary, only failure is forever. You may have just done both." (Regardless, critfail ftl.) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Heinrick (2d8) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 7. (If it's on mind, make no matter what the skill) ( I guess Management/Admin is the best, though that doesn't seem right for it ) (Our rolls still apply anyway, so. ^^) * Roseli studies the woman for a bit, then says, "Clarify 'FAO'?" [Karin does it for Rose. "Federal Affairs Office. Foreign intelligence, basically."] * Heinrick smiles slightly. "We're not necessarily asking anyone to top anyone. We're all looking for something a little different in a candidate." He leans forward. "But Foreign Affairs. Interesting. And your experience in that office?" * Roseli makes a faint 'hm' and writes something down. [She taps her lip, and speaks with a singsong voice, "Hmm... I'm afraid that's classifiiiiied."] (Oh, btw, Brett. Any rolls you feel I should make to discern interesting stuff through my awesome skeelz in psychology, lemme know.) ( K :P ) * Heinrick nods slightly and gives a faint shrug. "Of course." He lets the silence settle in again. ( It sure does ) (Hey Rose. We give them 15 seconds, and then leave the room, right?) ( :D ) [Karin gestures. "Someone else?"] (Yeah. I'll activate the self-destruct sequence. Karin, cover us.) * Roseli makes further notes. She drinks coffee while she's at it. * Heinrick doesn't make notes. He's probably making a photocopy of the conversation in his head. [Which prompts Euroshig into action. "Oh, uh, Dieter Holt. I work in forensics in the Berlin police department."] * Roseli asks as she writes what Holt said, "What do you feel qualifies you for this position?" (Darn right, I pre-empted Heinrick. Sorry, man.) (It's the question he would have asked. Heinrick approves.) (Maybe he'll kill his ward off then be able to investigate it. It happened to the last one.) ["Straight As throught my entire school life?"] * Roseli barely retains a snort and notes that, too. ["I'm told I have quite a head for numbers. 'The Numberator', they call me."] [Karin can't surpress a chuckle, and Holt looks put out.] This is good for dealing with children because...? ["W-Well, I'd teach the girl to fight smart. 'Brains before brawn', you know?"] I know. * Heinrick hasn't chuckled or snorted yet. He's just watching Holt's reactions. * Roseli points at the last dude with her pen. "You. Name and background." [He sighs and sits up. "Fritz Vollenstein. I used to be in Section 1."] * Roseli notes that and has a sip of coffee instead of questioning further, letting Heinrick and Karin pick up. [Karin frowns. "I've heard that name before."] * Heinrick nods slightly. "What's your take on Section 2 then?" [He laughs. "That some kind of trick question?"] * Heinrick smiles. "If you'd like to answer it as one, that is your choice." [He shrugs. "I'm here for the interview, aren't I?"] * Heinrick nods slightly. "Well then. Now that we're all introduced to each other..." He glances at Karin. "Karin? Since it's your office, you can choose who we interview first." ["Alright..." She considers briefly, then, "Mr. Holt?"] [He blinks a few times, and has to stop himself from saying "Me, really?"] * Heinrick nods slightly and stands. "The rest of you can wait here. One of us will come down to get you when we are ready." [Karin leads the way, and the man nervously follows.] * Roseli tucks her pen away, picks up her mug, and gets her move on, trailing the group and closing the door behind her. (Also pick up my notebook!) (Pfft. You've got coffee. That's the most important thing.) (It is.) [This brings us to Karin's office. It's much like everyone else's office, except there's jars full of nails, bat wings and probably some other weird stuff on top of a filing cabinet, and a copy of the kabbalah on one wall. There's a picture of her with Iris and Cyra on her desk.] (Locations to sit?) [One chair behind the desk and two in front of it. BUT! Karin brings another chair in from outside, and maneuvers two to the other side of the desk. Problem solved!] * Roseli goes ahead and takes one of the chairs that isn't the desk chair, since that one's Karin's. [Karin totally does take that chair. She mostions for Dieter to sit. So he does.] * Heinrick does the same. Except he takes the chair that is not behind the desk *and* not occupied by Rose. Because sitting in the chair occupied by Rose might give Holt the wrong impression of office politics. Not to mention a bullet to the brain. * Roseli sets up her complicated notebook and coffee combination. (You're also behind the desk, sir. Three behind the desk, one in front.) (This set up would be impossible in Rose's office, so good thing we're using Karin's!) [It's cramped. Very cramped. ] (I meant the non-Karin one :P) ( The three of you are crammed behind a desk meant for 1 person. ) (Yup! I'm taking up a piddly corner 'cause it's all I've got!) * Heinrick folds his hands softly. "I guess the first question on my mind is what do you feel your expectations will be as a guardian?" ["Training the ward to be efficient at stopping terrorism."] * Roseli doesn't look up from her notes as she asks, "You aware of the ramifications of your job?" [He blinks. "Ramifications?"] * Roseli nods and looks up. "What your job will involve." [He tilts his head. "What do you mean?"] * Heinrick folds his hands together. "There's risks and responsibilities to this position is what I believe Miss Tavares is saying. And she wants to be sure you are clear on what exactly those are." He checks Roseli for confirmation. * Roseli nods once. [He tilts his head. "I know I'm supposed to enter the field with her, if that's what you're saying.] [Karin sighs. "Let me be blunt. Can you fight, Mr. Holt?"] ["W-Well, I've used a gun before. It's required training."] Any good with it? ["Um..."] [Karin eyes him. "Have you ever used it on a person?"] [He blinks. "What? Well, no."] Ever killed someone? (Doesn't have to be a gun, after all. ^^) ["No! I work in forensics! I thought I'd teach the girl to do the thinking work, and we could provide support for the rest of the team."] Support... What kind of support would you provide? ["Strategical and Tactical. This line of work isn't all about blowing off some guy's head. The real key to stopping terrorists starts with figuring out what they're going to do in the first place."] I see. And how would you train your ward to assist in this? [Karin sighs. "He's got a point. Gabriel was our team's thinking man."] * Roseli doesn't make a comment as to that, though she's blown off many heads in her time (you can tell by some of the pixels). [Dieter nods. "I know where to look. I can show her past scenarios, and how to react to similar cases."] * Heinrick raises an eyebrow at that. [Karin looks at Heinrick and Rose. "I've got nothing else to ask."] Can you teach her self-defense? Line of work isn't all blowing off heads, but it has to be done. Or preventing your own head from being blown off. * Roseli chuckles at that. ["Like I said, I've had training."] * Roseli stands up, very calmly, and darts to the man, grabbing him in her standard hold and putting her gun to his head. (Let's see what he does!) * Heinrick doesn't react to that. He's watching to see what the man does. ["Ow! What gives?!"] * Heinrick closes his eyes slightly. "She's testing how you'd react to the man you're replacing." * Roseli flicks off the safety. "What do you do now?" You're on the field. What do you do? ["Well, for God's sake, I wouldn't think I had to prepare the girl for self-defense in a job interview!"] * Roseli snorts and pulls her gun away. "No more questions." * Roseli also lets Holt out of her grip. He can breathe now. [He rubs his neck.] * Heinrick still has his eyes closed. "I believe that's enough of that. Though I do have one more question. How would you coordinate with your team on the field?" [He shrugs like it should be obvious. "Wireless, of course."] * Heinrick snorts. "I didn't exactly mean the *method*. What would you *do* to make sure coordination was kept?" ["I don't follow you."] * Heinrick nods slightly. "Thank you for your time then, Mister Holt." [He nods and heads out, rubbing his neck on the way.] [Karin rubs her face. "Ugh."] * Heinrick smiles slightly. "He would have been placed on your team if he were picked." Didn't even get to asking him about how he'd treat his ward... just... ["Well, he is right that we could use a thinker."] Well...I'll go get our military personnel then. Shall I? * Roseli rubs at her forehead and finally holsters her gun. She turns to face the others. "True. But guardian dead on the field is useless. We know wireless isn't always feasible." [Karin nods. "Okay."] ( Not sure how far we're gonna get though ) He thinks academically. Not tactically. * Heinrick goes to get the Marine gal. [Heinrick goes to get the Marine gal and (FF!!) presumably returns with her.] * Roseli is sitting down again! Hooray! She nods to Nadine as she enters. [Nadine salutes Rose and Karin. "Sir!"] * Heinrick sits down in his chair and regards Nadine. Someone else can ask first question this time. Sit. We'll be equals if you get this position. [Nadine sits. She folds her legs and sits with her back erect.] * Roseli flips to a page in her notebook, glances at it, then asks, "What do you expect your relationship with your ward will be?" ["I shall train her into a fine combatant, sir!"] Through? What abilities or capabilities would you say would be most important for your ward to have? ["Under my tutilage, she will learn how to handle herself in dangerous situations and keep her composure, sir!"] Any experience with espionage? ["No, sir! Unless you mean stealth training, sir!"] * Roseli chuckles a little. "No." ["Then no, sir!"] * Heinrick smiles slightly. "Although that would be helpful at times." How would you treat your ward? ["Before I could create a training regimen, I would first need to assess her training so far, sir!"] So you would treat her as a soldier. ["And I promise she'd be a fine one, sir!"] How would the other members of your batallion describe you? ["That would depend on who you asked, sir!"] How would you handle your ward's mental state? ["With my training, she would become confident and disciplined, sir!"] * Roseli looks to Karin to see if she has any questions. [Karin shakes her head at Rose.] * Heinrick nods slightly. "I believe my questions are answered." [Karin nods, then looks at Nadine. "Thank you, Ms. Vogel. You're, uhh... dismissed."] [She rises, salutes, "Sir!"s and walks out.] [Karin waits til she's gone, then shakes her head. "Well."] Opinion? ["Well, I'm pretty sure she could train Pavla to fight. At the very least."] That's fairly certain. * Heinrick sits back. "So who's next?" [Karin muses. "Doris, I guess."] * Roseli nods. "How to fight. Not how to be a person." * Roseli smiles slightly at Karin and Heinrick. "Not that that's our job." [Karin nods. "Yeah..."] * Roseli stands. "I'll get her." And goes off to do just that! * Heinrick waits! Because he's good at waiting. If Karin wants to talk, she can. [Roseli returns shortly with this lady: http://www.turner.com/planet/static/blight.html. Ok, not really, but we went through all that last time. You better believe the world is in peril, though. She's presumably escorted to the seat in front of Karin's desk, where she sits, crossing her legs.] * Roseli does, in fact, escort her there! And then reclaims her chair at the back corner of Karin's desk. (!) (That's why Keiko's so ineffective. She's Heart!) (What was her name again? ^^;) ( Dr. Blight. ) (Doris Shaffer.) ( I mean Doris Shaffer ) (*thwaps Brett*) ( "And if I'm hired I'll teach the kid how to create the most pollutant machinery in the world! ) [Karin goes first. "What can you tell us about yourself, Ms. Shaffer? That isn't classified."] [Doris smiles. "Let's see... I suoopse I could tell you that I've travelled a lot. And I'm quite skilled at collecting information. I can't say much about that, of course, but let's just say I know how to get all types to talk."] * Heinrick nods a bit. "We understand about confidentiality here. We would want to know what you believe would be most relevant to your work here at Child Protective Services." He says this with a completely straight face. * Roseli gets a little snerk at that, though. Because it *is* funny. (And there should be an "only" in there between "know" and "what") * Heinrick waits for if Doris is going to respond to that, but he also has a follow-up question if she doesn't. [She smiles tapping her chin. "Hmm... That's a difficult question. Mainly because there's so much that I can do that you might consider relavent."] * Heinrick nods. "We can come back to that. I was wondering if you were to create the ideal ward, what would you see that as and why?" [She laughs. "I miniature version of myself, perhaps?" Then she folds her fingers. "Ideally? She'd be able to manipulate people."] * Heinrick nods and gestures for her to expand up it. [She does. "Manipulate them into telling her information, into giving themselves up, into coercing them to play out events exactly as planned... Why, there would be no need for brutish displays of violence at all if she could do that, would there?"] It's sometimes necessary. Unfortunately. [She shrugs. "I suppose. But you did say ideal."] I did indeed. Thank you. * Roseli jots some notes down in her notebook as she asks, "Have any experience working with kids?" ["Can't say I do."] Hm. Do you like them? * Roseli writes down another note. ["Let's just say I don't dislike them."] * Roseli nods, not demonstrating pleasure or displeasure at that answer. She looks up at Doris. "How would you treat your ward?" (Let's just say Rose didn't not not dislike that answer.) ["How do you treat yours?"] We all treat them differently. [She smiles. "Then I suppose I would, too."] * Roseli isn't amused, continuing, "But wards aren't the most stable of children. You'll be handed one with problems, especially given her former guardian. Just want to know what you'd see your ward as, what kind of routine you would give her, and how you would generally deal with problems." [She shrugs. "I suppose I'd train her the same way I was trained. I can't give you the details, of course, but believe me, it's quite effective."] So you were a problem child? ( I was.) [She laughs. "My third grade teacher would probably say so, I'm sure."] * Roseli looks over at Karin. She might have more questions. * Heinrick smiles. "Very well. What difficulties do you forsee yourself coming into while training your ward or having her out on the field?" (Whoops!) (That's Heinrick's last question though.) [KArin shakes her head. She doesn't seem to have any questions. She's making the occasional note, though.] ["I'm afraid I'm not much of a fortune teller."] * Heinrick smiles. "You kind of have to be in this business. And in yours as well, I suspect." ["I guess you could say that."] * Roseli writes a few more notes. So no difficulties at all? ["What kinds of difficulties do you think I'll face?"] * Heinrick smiles. "That would be telling." Finished, Heinrick? * Heinrick shrugs slightly. "Asking yes. But never listening." * Roseli nods and gives Karin one more look. Any questions? [Karin asked her question. Playing two NPCs is rough.] * Roseli looks back at Doris. "Thank you, Ms. Shaffer." [She smiles ash she heads out. "Of course, my dear."] [Karin raise an eyebrow at Rose. "'My dear'?"] She thinks we're amusing. * Roseli makes one final note. "Good for her." * Roseli sets her pencil down and rubs at her eyes. "What did you think?" [Karin shrugs. "I didn't think she was bad."] She will be on your team, so I'd think yours would hold the most sway. * Roseli nods in agreement. Didn't think she was bad. But she was like Heinrick but worse. [Karin looks at her notes. "She... didn't really tell us much about herself at all, though, did she?"] (Ouch!) * Heinrick glances at Roseli for a moment and chuckles. "Yes. We would not want another me running around, now would we?" * Roseli shakes her head at Heinrick, then looks at Karin. "Exactly." She said nothing, even when she didn't have to disclose classified information. Worries me, a little. Like I said, not bad - she doesn't seem bad - but she's an unknown. [Karin nods.] Well, we'll reserve our judgments until we meet the last one, shall we? Yeah. You want to get him? * Heinrick has already half made his way towards the door by the time Rose asks that! [Karin nods. "Fritz Vollenstein."] * Heinrick goes to get him! Good ol' Fritzy * Roseli watches him go, then says to Karin, "Worried about Pavla. None of the candidates so far look like they're capable of dealing with her, short of serious modification." ["I'm not sure anyone is. Pavla's... difficult to connect to."] Yeah. Reminds me of the kids I used to work with. She's closest in temperament. [Heinrick returns with Fritz shortly. He leans his banjo on the desk and sits in the chair and leans back, folding his hands behind his head. He looks like he's about to put his feet up on the desk, too, but instead just stretches them out.] * Roseli lets him stretch, flipping to a different page as he does so. (If we get him, I'd recommend Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband's Banjoy Boy as his theme song.) [Karin frowns and marks something in her notes.] (*Banjo boy. It's awesome.) ( Never heard it :P ) Mr. Vollenstein. What did you do in section 1? * Heinrick takes his seat while the question asking goes on. [He smirks. "Fought terrorists for the sake of sacred Germany. What else?"] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4IUb6qYGkY) * Roseli nods. "But what did you do? Any specific areas of expertise?" (Thanks Ard!) (Youtube is great!) [He shrugs, without removing his hands from behind his head. "Nah, not really. Just a regular average Joe before I quit."] * Roseli nods, writing something down. "Climb up the ranks at all?" ["A little."] Ever lead a team or have to provide training? ["A couple times."] So you moved from one terrorist job to another? Pretty interesting shift of careers. * Roseli makes another quick note. [Karin stands up suddenly, wide-eyed. "Ahh! Your Fritz Vollenstein!"] ... That's what he said. * Roseli looks at Karin. "What's wrong?" [He raises an eyebrow. "You're sharp, kid."] * Heinrick doesn't react, he just closes his eyes for a moment. "Well, when we're all done with the dramatic posing..." [Karin frowns. "I'm only a couple years younger than you." She turns to Rose. "Fritz Vollenstein! He used to be one of the Blitzkrieg Aces."] Ah. * Roseli would look impressed, but she doesn't, really. She turns her gaze back to Fritz. "You do realize that you gave false information during an interview," she says calmly. [He raises an eyebrow at Rose. "When did I do that?"] 'Average joe.' You know an ace isn't average. * Roseli smiles slightly. "So anyway, why did you leave section one?" [He scowls. "'Ace' is a name they gave us to make us sound like some sort of saviors. I hated it. I'm as human as the next guy, and there's no reason they couldn't do what I do if they put their minds to it."] * Roseli nods and waits for him to continue, since he hasn't answered her question yet. * Heinrick shakes his head. "They're trying to hire human guardians now? What will they think of next?" [He sits up. "Let me tell you a thing or two about what it means to be a so-called 'Ace'."]] ["It means the rookies look up to you. It means they think you're some kind of hero just because you can use a weapon that isn't some kind of gun. It means they put their trust in you. It means they look up to you to lead them, whether you want it or not."] ( He does have a vaguely Sothern accent, FYI. Uh, southern Germany! ) * Roseli nods. She turns her attention to her notebook and writes something down, then glances at Karin to see if she's still standing. (If it were Japan, it'd be Kansei, if it were America, it'd be Georgia, if it were Eengland, it'd be Pikey or Cockney?) [Karin is sitting down again, but she's still rather wide-eyed.] (He's a country boi. Just say that.) (Oh God, not with the i.) ["And that's what happened in Rosenburg. A bunch of rookies followed a man who they called an Ace when he ignored orders. He ended up getting himself, most of them, and about 1000 civvies killed."] * Roseli is silent for a moment, then says, "I'm sorry." ["Yeah. Me too."] * Roseli nods. She looks down at her notes, then sighs. "Were you removed from section one for that incident?" ["I told you I quit. They don't remove your memories in Section 1."] * Heinrick seems to be pondering something and not asking many questions. Rose is filling the slack though. (Wait, he said he got himself killed? Is he talking about himself or another incident?) ( "An ace" ) (Right, got it.) (Just basically saying he didn't want to deal with the guilt if it happened / couldn't stand the pressure / whatever.) Why section two? ["They asked."] * Roseli shakes her head, not buying it. "You didn't have to accept, did you?" [He shrugs. "I guess not. Fine. Let's say they made me a good offer."] I'll buy that. Just to be sure: you do realize everything this job entails, right? ["I get the idea, yeah."] * Roseli nods. "Just to be clear: a ward relies on his or her guardian more than any rookie. And will follow orders to the letter, by chemical command. Along with accompanying wards on the field, we determine how much freedom our wards get, as well as training regimine and genetic modification." ["Yeah."] Good. So I need to ask... have you worked with children? ["As combat personel?"] * Roseli waves her hand vaguely. "In any capacity. And how, yeah." ["I worked with a couple in the past two years, yeah. Though I don't think playing the banjo for orphans is what you had in mind."] She *did* say in any capacity. * Roseli smiles slightly. "I did, and that's fine." She writes a note. "So you like children?" ["The kid's not technically a kid, from what I understand."] In some ways, no, wards are old enough to be on their own. In other ways, yes, and moreso. Like I said, they are complete dependents on their guardians... As well as often being broken mentally and/or emotionally. Section two does not abound with well adjusted children from full nuclear families. ["Hm."] * Roseli looks at Vollenstein. "And they are being asked to grow up in an instant, with a tremendous amount of responsibility on their shoulders." She pauses. "It's not the most stable of situations." * Roseli waves. "In any case, you're right; you are going to be working with a teenager. How do you envision your relationship will be?" ["Rough."] How will you deal with that? [He shrugs. "On a case by case basis, I suppose."] * Roseli nods, noting something. "What will you strive for in your relationship? What would your goal be?" ["Guess that depends on the kid."] Ideally, then. What would you be looking for in a working relationship. ["Doesn't matter, does it? I'm not getting an ideal."] * Roseli raises an eyebrow. "Have to strive for something, don't you?" Everyone-- * Heinrick looks at Roseli and chuckles. "Sorry. Was about to say the same thing." [Karin scratches her cheek.] * Roseli nods at Heinrick. * Heinrick shakes his head and smiles. "Proceed. You're doing just fine." * Roseli throws a shoe at Heinrick. Not really. [He shrugs. "I don't see the point."] Fine. * Heinrick turns and looks at Roseli. "If I may..." * Roseli is writing quickly in her notebook. Heinrick sure may. * Heinrick turns to Fritz. "Other than what we just mentioned, what would you see as the major differences between Section 1 and Section 2?" [He shrugs. "Section 2 is newer, more secretive and experimental."] * Heinrick nods. "Particularly with working between the two branches though?" ["I left before Section 2 was active, remember?"] * Heinrick shrugs. "Does not mean you cannot speculate. But fair enough." And if you were asked to work with a team? What would you see as you and your wards role within that team?" ["That would depend on the team."] This is just a general question. An "ideal" if you will. ["Ideally I suppose I'd want a gentically engineered goddess who would be able to do whatever I wanted without fail."] [Karin snickers.] * Roseli also snerks. It is pretty funny. * Heinrick laughs at that too. "Fair enough. Let's keep it a tad more to what you think the job would entail though." ["That's going to have to wait until I meet her."] * Roseli makes another note. * Heinrick shakes his head a little. "Very well then. Karin?" [Karin asks a question. "Why orphans?"] [He shrugs. "I liked to do what I could for them. Playing the banjo's not much, but it's something."] [Karin shakes her head. "But why orphans? There are other unfortunate kids out there. Poor kids, disabled, dying... Why orphans in particular?"] [He sighs. "There's no easy way to say this. But for all the problems those other kids have, they at least have someone who cares about them. Orphans have nobody. That's why I need to show them: someone cares."] * Roseli nods slightly and looks to Karin, to see if she has anything to say or ask in follow up. [Karin stares at him for a minute. "You're an orphan. Aren't you?"] * Heinrick is just watching banjo-boy and his reactions, writing it all down in his mental notebook. [He nods. "Yeah."] (Heinrick needs a headputer.) (Data jack!) [Karin sits down. After a minute, she says, "I have nothing else to ask."] * Heinrick shakes his head slightly. "This is an interview, not a personal inquiry. I'm sure you'll have time to come back to that later if he becomes a part of the team." * Roseli watches the interplay between her two fellow guardians, then looks to Fritz. "Thank you for your time." * Heinrick nods slightly too. He has nothing else to add. Before you go, I have one unofficial request. [He gets up, looking at Rose expectantly as he grabs his banjo.] * Roseli stands, too, closing her notebook. "We don't make the final decision as to who's granted the guardian position, so I don't know if you will be or not. But if you are..." I request that, whatever your reasons for being here, you do your best to remember that you can do much, much more for an orphan while here than play the banjo. And to always keep that in mind. [He smirks. "Don't worry. I plan to teach her to play the washboard."] * Roseli nods. "Looking forward to it." * Heinrick snerks at that. [He heads off.] [Karin runs a hand through her hair. "God, that'll be a sight."] Could happen, but I don't think he'd abuse his power that way. * Heinrick looks at Roseli. "He must have made quite an impression on you." * Roseli shrugs at Heinrick. Think he's got his head on straight. What do you think, Karin? [Karin smiles. "I think I know who I'm rooting for."] * Roseli chuckles. "Orphans gotta stick together. Heinrick?" * Heinrick snorts. "Let's just hope that the new director takes the suggestion seriously." He lets out a deep sigh. "I think if he's the closest to what Pavla would need. And possibly the team as well. But only Karin can answer that." (This takes place before we know Lydia's poofed, remember?) ( Yah, no new director yet. ) ( Although you know there's one coming, so it's not really out of context ) (Yeah.) (Okay!) (Yeah. That's why I said it.) (Lydia'd told him that the new director had the final say.) ( Yep. ) Then we're in agreement. Let's put the report together and send it in. [Karin nods. "Ok."] ( End? ) (Sure!) [End]
