[Day: Thursday, June 19th. Time: 3:30 p.m.] [You arrive in Berlin in your stolen van. Hopefully you're not singing driving songs, but you never can tell. In case you've forgotten, Iris is being held in the Blitzkrieg Section 3 building.] [Start] * Keiko wasn't singing driving songs. That'd be silly. She didn't fall asleep on this trip, either. She's been drawing on paper retrieved from her magic coat, instead. (Are we still driving, or have we gotten where we're going?) (Ninety-nine bullets left in my coat, ninety-nice bullets are left! Load my gun, have some fun, ninety-eight bullets left in my coat! o/`) (...Is all I can manage on short notice.) [We'll say Karin is driving, to save us the headaches of having one of you do it. She pulls up two blocks away from the Section 3 building. The skyscraper is surrounded by a wire fence annnnd.... Sight rolls!] 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Luana (2d8) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 9. 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Togo (2d8) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 10. (nope) (nada) 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keiko (2d8-2) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 9. (... Clearly I didn't start scanning this place at the 1km mark so I wouldn't alert my successors.) (Success on mind!) 2d8-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jamie (2d8-2) and gets a natural 12 for a result of 10. (Yeah no.) (Also, yes, my telepathy is open looking for people unless it became obvious that became risky.) ( Do you want to scan it? ) (It'd be nice to know what's turned on and who's convienently standing in front of cameras. And this time Rose would have told me it's alright to do so I wouldn't get the against programing backlash like the last time I tried to break section 3 computers!) ( Ok, go ahead. ) (Mhm, computers intrusion!) 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jamie (2d8-6) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 0. (Made by 8) * Togo steps out of the van once it's stopped, and takes a look around. * Jamie speaks softly. "Kranz is in the lobby. Iris is on the top floor." [The streets are fairly busy. Well, it is the middle of the afternoon.] * Keiko puts her pad away and steps out, teeth gritted as she tries to keep her mind on the people around. And to react if someone 'recognizes' them. She comms, ~Do we want to try to come in from the air? Or just sweep up?~ * Jamie speaks directly to everybodies comms. ~The.. the parimeter is up, but none of the security bots are active.~ * Keiko adds, ~The've got guards on the ground, ready to fire.~ [Karin comms, ~Either way, Togo, get back in the van. You're too recognizable to be out there.~] * Togo nods, and responds. ~We don't have the numbers or the firepower to go in hard, so subtle it is. Jamie, monitor the electronic surveillance...~ He gets back into the van. ~Point taken. And air would be preferable, but I'm not sure if it's doable in broad daylight.~ ~Unless you can keep us unnoticed from everyone, Keiko.~ * Keiko chuckles weakly. ~Not everyone.~ [Karin folds her arms. "We could wait until night."] ~Jamie, is there a sewer tunnel entrance we could use? Or that, yeah.~ (How long do the resistance serums last?) ( Two hours. ) * Luana comes out of the van with a different face than usual - she's currently tanner, her features are more angular, and her eyes are brown. She stands next to Keiko and waits. * Jamie blinks and looks at Togo. ~I. I don't know. I'll look.~ (Do we HAVE enough to wait until night?) ( Prolly ) ~Thanks. If we hafta wait until nightfall, we will, but I'd rather get this done now.~ * Keiko leans against Luana slightly and looks down and to the side. ~Whatever works. We have a little time. Not much.~ * Jamie looks down and then shakes her head. ~I... don't hear anything big enough. ~ * Togo nods. ~Okay, we'll wait for sundown, then go for the roof. I don't wanna risk trying to walk in the front door. Unless anyone has another idea.~ [Karin frowns. "If... If we need to, I can fly us to the roof or a window entrance at night. Otherwise, I don't see how else we can get in."] ~Could cause a distraction.~ [Karin nods. "Or we could pretend to be a part of Blitzkrieg 1. If we can disguise ourselves and Jamie can fool the scanners..."] * Togo frowns. "Luana could manage it, but the rest of us kind of stick out." ~Maybe you stick out. I'm just kinda short.~ (Does Section 1 wear helmets?) [She frowns again. "I'd say we could try pretending to be prisoners, but I don't think it would work."] ( They do when they're on field missions. ) ~They'd probably check in.~ * Keiko rubs her neck. ~Don't you know anything about their procedures?~ ~All too risky, I think. I'd rather take the risk of waiting a few hours.~ [Karin nods. "If you think it's best."] ~If we had backup, I'd go for something a little bolder. With what we have... let's play it a bit safe.~ * Keiko replies, ~We can keep tabs on the place. From a rooftop, maybe?~ ~Sounds good.~ * Keiko glances around for a building that looks good to rooftop up to, so she can drag Luana that way! * Luana stays quiet and alert. She doesn't seem very inclined to make suggestions. ( Sorry, had to AFK ) (No prob) (Welcome back) ( FF? ) (Sure.) (Sounds like a plan.) ( How long do you wanna wait there? ) (Till it gets dark) ( K. ) [Time: 7:30 p.m. The sun has gone down! You're possibly also getting hungry at this point, too.] (Right, somewhere in this Jamie stopped scanning and tried to hid behind Rose for a bit. When coaxed into an explination, Shumacher has two Ten/Hotaru pairings right now) (Keiko looks annoyed at Rose when that happens, and went to stand closer to the edge of the building at that.) * Togo passes out Badass Bars. "Lemme now if you think it's dark enough." [Karin says, "The sun's gone down. The horizon's still light though."] * Luana takes the chocolate eagerly and starts eating. * Togo nods. "How crowded are the streets?" * Jamie has chocolate, chocolate tastes good and is far better than trying to fight her denial of Ten's existance and pass on relevant information at the same time. ["We're in the heart of Berlin. They're always going to be crowded."] * Keiko squints a bit and murmurs, quietly, "If you're gonna risk it, it's probably best just to wait, and come in from straight up." [Karin scratches her head. "I've been thinking about that distraction idea of yours, Keiko. You think it could work?"] (Gonna switch comps. Back inna couple.) * Togo has quit IRC (Quit: ) * Keiko looks over at her and flatly replies, "Depends how big a distraction you wanna make. Car wrecks? Explosions? Civilian casualties?" * JesseEatinLman has joined #MC4 * JesseEatinLman is now known as Togo * Luana murmurs, "Keiko." * Keiko glances ot Luana, then replies, "It's gonna take a lot to draw the guards off of their posts." ["I was thinking some of us could get their attention, lead them away while the rest of us get in there and save Iris."] I'd rather just have us go for the roof. Our numbers are small enough as is. Jamie, can you still deal with electronic security? ["But once they find out we're there, every guard in the building will be after us."] * Keiko thinks at Luana, ~Sorry. It's just... there's not many options. Unless we can convince someone to snipe them...~ All the more reason to have all our firepower concentrated. * Luana thinks back, ~I'm not willing to kill a few innocents to save the multitude.~ * Jamie looks away from Togo as she answers. "I... I don't know. There there's two. Two of them." Try it. Don't worry about scanning the building unless we need it. Focus on the security directly around us when we head over and get in, keep it small and localized. ( There's two, two, two Hotarus in one. ) * Keiko half-smiles to herself, then, ~That's why you're good.~ * Keiko glances off towards the building. "If we had control over the... electronic minds, we could do it, but we won't." * Jamie nods at Togo. "O. Okay." * Togo nods back at Jamie. "You've still got the submachine gun I gave you, right?" * Jamie nods again. * Togo reaches into his coat, and hands Jamie the silencer for the gun. "Use this." * Luana blinks and starts putting silencers on her own pistols. * Jamie takes it and ambles to her pile of stuff to attach it. * Keiko is silent a moment, then her eyes brighten. Good girl. *turns to Keiko* Can you get us all across in one go? * Keiko looks back at Togo. "Karin wanted to do that. But can you set some of your weapons on braces, and have Luana get some electronic switches? So we could maybe fire them at the building remotely?" The building under active gunfire would be a significant distraction. [Karin looks at Keiko. "Could you do it?"] * Keiko looks back at Karin and licks her lips. "It... would be close. If I can lift you all, it won't be a problem." Might be a little slow. Well... my machine gun has enough range, a big enough clip, and not much recoil, so it could work as a backup to divert attention if we trigger alarms. ALternately, we could just go for the gusto and rig up my LAW. [Karin frowns. "If you could manage it on your own... It would be better."] It's only one shot, but it's a helluva distraction. * Keiko looks to Togo. "We need a sustained distraction. Two rigs." I agree with Keiko. Just one shot isn't enough to keep security off of us for long. * Luana is fiddling with her shirt hem anxiously as she says this. [Karin nods. "A LAW in the city is too dangerous."] (... wait, was the building that close to the sidewalk?) ( You really wanna shoot a high-powered explosive at a skyscraper? ) (How can it possibly go wrong?) We could set up the machine gun, but I don't have another gun with the ammo capacity and the range to be effective. (You shoot it at the GROUND.) (It explodes, everyone freaks out, nobody dies.) * Jamie swallows and then suggests. "My helibot?" ( Or a few people die, and we blame it on the French. ) * Keiko looks over to Jamie. "You said that there were other yous. We need things they can't turn off." ["Or use against us."] * Keiko nods slightly, then points. "You shoot the LAW at the ground, and then some bursts from the machine gun." * Jamie sounds uncertain. "Why...wouldn't they turn off your switches?" (What would McGuyvering explosives fall under in skills?) * Keiko looks at Jamie. "I dunno, a switch... like... a lever. A sparkplug. It only goes on. There's electric switches like that." Maybe even make it just mechanical... like a timer, but that's harder. * Keiko rubs her head. "I fix cars. Traps are new." Oh. ( Probably some combination of chemistry or electronics and demolitions ) * Togo nods. "We want them focusing on the lower floors, yeah." *pauses* "Yeah, we could rig something simple... besides, the firing would be over in a few seconds. By the time they noticed it, it would've already served its purpose." And hopefully, we don't hafta use it. It's a backup. * Luana looks thoughtful. "I'm not completely familiar with everyone's abilities, not completely... would it be... possible for anyone to make explosives with the sort of things that Togo and Keiko can pull from their pockets?" Or, um, does anyone have any? [Karin holds up her hands. "Don't look at me."] We could... drop some as we go, in isolated areas like the rooftop, and set them off when we're further in... maybe. (I... don't think Keiko and Togo can pull out, like, ammonia and fertilizer and other anarchist cookbook materials, yah?) (Or can they?) ( Probably not. ) (Togo pulled out fertilizer in MC2!) ( Er, 3! ) (Well, is there a supermarket around?) [Karin asks, "What about the van? Couldn't we use that?"] (You can buy ammonia!) ( There's the German equivalent of a Wawa on the corner. ) Don't we need a van to leave? ( Or maybe that was GCI. ) Rooftop explosives are bad because we wanna exit through the roof, and we need that van, yeah. We could steal someone else's car? * Keiko thinks at Luana, with a slight grin on her face, ~Isn't this fun?~ [No shortage of cars along the street.] Time we might not have making our escape. ~I'm not used to making suggestions! I feel so awkward...~ Oh, I thought Karin meant to use it as, um, part of the distraction. Let's just go with the LAW and machine gun remote combo as a backup. Set that up and let's get in there. [Karin nods. "If we need an explosive..." She looks at Togo and shrugs. "Okay."] * Keiko thinks back, still with a slight smile, ~It's good, Lu. Get used to it.~ (Okay, so we have to find Das Radioshack.) * Togo gets his LAW and light machine gun from his coat. ( We can get simple stuff like that from our coats. Just no complex electronics. ) (Or that! Is that acceptible, Brett?) (able. acceptable.) ( Yah ) ( The real question is, how do you intend to set this up? ) (Tripod stands or such to aim them and hold them in place, simple remote mechanism to depress the triggers?) (Tripods or Firing Braces, and then that, yes.) ( What kinda mechanism? ) (Essentially, electronic switches. You run a current through them, it becomes magnetic, it pulls a lever depressing the trigger.) (Dunno. I'm a social science guy now.) ( K, roll for it :P Electronics (consumer electronics) ) (I'm at a 10! Anyone got better?) (11 for me) (Ooh.) (I'll roll, I guess?) (8+5=13, but I'm not going shopping without orders) (I'll assist in shopping! Can I do that? If I make it we get a +2.) ( Y'mean a -2? ) (Yeah, that.) (Too much 3rd ed) ( Go ahead. ) 2d8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Keiko (2d8) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 11. (BOO. I suck at shopping.) (Go Luana go!) 2d8-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Luana (2d8-3) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 2. (Queen of shopping!) (Crown me!) [You rig up a something.] (*pulls a paper crown out of her coat and sits it on Lu's head*) (/me sits regally) * Keiko almost helps Luana set up the rigs. When they're done, she comms, ~Alright, that's both of them.~ * Togo patpats his machine gun. "If I can't come back for you... we've had a good run, old friend." * Keiko looks at Togo weirdly, and then lifts him and Lu and everyone that's on that roof up off the ground. She licks her lips and then comms, ~We ready? If so, I'm coming to get everyone.~ Yeah, let's do this. Jamie, do what you can about any security cameras on the roof or facing up. * Jamie nods and tries to set them to a loop as quietly as she possibly can. 2d8-6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Jamie (2d8-6) and gets 10, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "I hate being random." (... oh, come on.) (...) (.... AWESOME!) ( If this were 3ed, that'd be awesome. ) O. Okay. * Keiko floats around to scoop everyone up. Her fists are clenched tight by the end of it. Stupid 'people' and their 'weighing'. (Gravity, man. Gravity.) (Gravity sucks) (Gravity does suck.) [Keiko grabs y'all.] ( Togo can hide inside his coat if that'll help. But he might come out half-griffin. ) * Keiko gets to floating people high up, in an arc, so as to come down on the building as best she can. ( I think I'm gonna end. ) ( Okie. Prolly a good spot. ) (Nod.) ( Yah. Plus, I'm falling asleep. ) ( Keiko has to hold us aloft for a week! ) [End]
