[Now loading....] [Aight, well, Montana and Nigel are outside the skyscraper containing Nazarenko's office.] (Ah too many channels. Okay. Sorry about that.) * Montana is in the alley nearby and also in his creepy ninja stealth suit, though the mask is down for the moment. He folds his arms, looking up. "All right. How do you want to do this?" * Nigel looks up at the Skyscraper and then at Montana. "Well... I do not have the advantage of invisibility. So... I am going to need to walk into the building one way or another." * Dicesuke has joined #MC5-2 Right. Or... you're good with computers, right? Any way I can hook you in remotely? * Nigel looks thoughtful for a moment. "Hm..." 'Cause I'm no genius, but I can do that if you just tell me how. (Brett, is there any way for Nigel to access this thing remotely?) ( Probably not. ) (Okay) * Nigel shakes his head. "I think I am going to have to be in front of it myself." (How's the security look in the front?) The way I see it, this is in two parts. First is we gotta find out where his office is, and then we gotta actually get in and find those codes. And there is pretty much no way you're walking through the front door without being searched. (Really, no way to do it remotely, if Montana actually gets to the computer or whatever? Shame. :/) [Inside the building you can see there's just one guy at the desk who makes everyone sign in and out as they come into/out of the building.] ( Mmm... I suppose Montana could download the files onto a USB and Nigel could decrypt them ) Doesn't sound like a lot of fun though :P * Nigel shrugs. "Searching may not be much of a problem, to be honest. I don't have a whole lot to hide. How about I go in the front, and you sneak up to the office. That way if we trip some bloody alarm I can make an excuse about going to the wrong floor." * Shiho has joined #mc5-2 * Montana nods. "Sounds fair." He glances at the desk guy, then grins at Nigel. "Good luck." * Nigel nods and heads around through the front door. (Brett, do we have any idea what is on any of these other floors?) * Montana pulls his mask down and starts... well, heading up the side of the building. ( Other businesses. Lawyers, cubicle jobs, etc. ) (Okay) [Nigel enters the front door. The guard looks up from reading the paper and says something in Tanigian.] * Nigel looks sort of confused. "Ah yes... Could you direct me to um..." He pauses for a moment as if he's trying to remember how it's pronounced. "Melnik... Military and Ordinance, if you would be so kind?" [He blinks a few times, then says haltingly, "Melnik... Military.... and Ordinance?" He says something, then draws 32 on a post-it note and holds it up.] [While Nigel's trying to make sense of this, Montana reaches the 32nd floor.] (I thought it was the 26th floor?) ( It is. My bad :P ) (Okay!) * Montana stops at the 26th floor, then, and takes a look into the first window. (By the way, how are windows laid out in this building?) ( They're rectangular. ) (Oh hey. That was Brett's response. Sorry. I confused myself) ( Ber you thought I was gonna say square ) But they're totally rectangular. (Right, but are they windows right next to each other, or are there areas of brick or steel between the windows...?) * Nigel nods and heads towards the elevator to head up to the 26th floor. [As Nigel moves past, the guard hollars at him, waving a notebook and a pen at him ] * Nigel looks confused for a moment then nods and heads over to sign in. He signs the name "Stephen Blackpool" then smiles at the guy and heads back towards the elevator. [The guard seems satisfied with that.] [Nigel gets to the chopp... elevator.] [Meanwhile, Montana looks inside and sees a fancy office. Coo'. It's got a nice view of the city.] (Empty?) [It is!.... Only the door is open, and even as Montana watches, a guard walks by, looking in on the place.] * Montana blends, turning invisible before the guard sees him. [The guard seems satisfied and moves on.] * Montana looks for any indication as to whose office this is. * Montana also checks for additional security, such as cameras and so on. He coms to Nigel, ~They have at least one guard patrolling this floor.~ [Nigel eventually gets to the floor, as well. Though Montana can't see. The elevator opens to a reception area, where a young secretary is working on a computer behind a desk.] [Montana doesn't see any cameras. At least, not in the office itself. * Montana nods to himself. He reaches into his vest and pulls out a glass cutter, then makes a neat, round incision in the window so he can reach in and open it. (Is this a B&E roll?) ( Yep ) 2d6+10 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Montana (2d6+10) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 21. [Montana breaks, and maybe enters.] [Meanwhile Nigel's chillin'.] * Nigel approaches the secretary. "Ah yes. Excuse me, Miss. Could you point me to Mr. Nazarenko's office?" He smiles. [She stares at him, the responds by saying something in Ukrainian.] * Nigel shakes his head. "Uh... beg your pardon, miss. I don't understand. If you could just point in a direction." [She responds! In Ukrainian.] * Nigel shakes his head. "I'll just go in then, shall I?" He heads for the door or doorway or whatever it is that leads beyond the reception desk. * Montana opens the window and most certainly does enter, closing it quietly behind him. He scoots around, avoiding easy view from outside and getting a look at the name on the desk. Assuming there is one. [There is! But it's in Ukrainian. Looks like Nazarenko, though.] [Meanwhile, the receptionist yells at Nigel.] * Nigel shakes his head and heads over to the receptionist. "Hello. Yes?" * Montana snerks to himself. What luck. He moves to the doorway and peeks into the hall to get an idea of security there. And... to find out what room number it is. (Also, what is in this office?) ( A desk, some fake Renoirs, a potted plant, a cushy chair, a less cushy chair for other people, a computer, books....] ) [The receptionist points at the elevator, saying something in Ukrainian.] * Nigel shakes his head. "This is floor 26, yes?" * Nigel looks back at the elevator to make sure it is. [She shrugs helplessly, says something in Ukrainian, and points at the elevator again.] [It's floor 26!] * Nigel looks around. Is there anyone else around besides the receptionist? (Office number, security in the hallway?) [There is just the receptionist in sight, though Nigel can't see the whole floor from here.] [It's office 8 :P] (Thanks!) * Montana pulls back in, closing the door and locking it. He coms to Nigel. ~I'm in Nazarenko's office, and I locked the door. Let me know if you need in. It's office eight.~ He heads to the computer and moves the mouse to see if it's on. [It's not!] * Montana turns on the computer, then! And while it boots up, he cases the office quickly - desk first - to see if Nazarenko may have written/hidden anything interesting. (Need a roll for that?) * Nigel hears Montana and then shakes his head at the receptionist. "Do you at least have a toilet?" He takes one of the pens and paper on the receptionist's desk and draws the male toilet symbol and points to it. Then points past her into the office area. "In there?" [She sighs and points down a hall. Nigel can see a restroom sign over an alcove.] * Nigel nods. "Much obliged." He heads past her down the hall and then starts looking to see if he can find office 8 when he is out of her sight. [Nigel does find it shortly. It's not far from the restroom. No sign of any guards yet.] (Brett, you need a roll? ^^) * Nigel comms to Montana ~Alright. Open up. Quick.~ * Montana breaks off his searching to go to the door and open it for his brother. ( Um ) ( Nah ) ('kay, do I find anything?) * Nigel darts inside and over to the computer. [Montana doesn't find anything of interest in the office. Then again, he can't read Ukrainian, so who knows! The computer's booted up by the time Nigel gets there.] * Montana closes the door and locks it behind them. Conveniently, he turned on the computer! (Well, yes, but passwords on scraps of paper are usually a touch conspicuous, since they're isolated instead of in a paragraph or something.) * Montana lets Nigel do comp work while he starts leaving through the books for anything interesting used as a bookmark. * Nigel begins looking for any sign of this activation code. [The computer is passworded. Gimme a hacking roll, Nigel.] 2d6+11 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nigel (2d6+11) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 18. (Plus any bonus for having essentially Computer Telepathy.) [Nigel easily breaks into the computer.] (I take it Montana's not finding anything interesting? He's going to keep doing this sort of thing until Nigel's done. XP) * Montana puts each book back where he found it after leaving through. It's good times. (s/leaving/leafing) [It doesn't take long for Nigel to find the codes, even with not being able to understand the language.] * Nigel nods and marks them down. "Got 'em." [Suddenly there's a banging on the door.] [Followed by some angry shouting in Ukranian.] * Montana shoves the book he was looking at back into place and makes it for the window, opening it. He waves for Nigel to follow him. * Nigel sighs. "Fantastic." * Nigel follows Montana. Get on my back. And hold on tight. But don't strangle me, please. * Nigel looks at Montana wide eyed. "You have got to be kidding?" * Montana looks back at Nigel, but it's hard to tell if he's wide-eyed or not with that mask on. "You're the smart one. Got a better idea?" [Someone starts undoing the lock.] * Nigel thinsk for a moment and sighs. "Fine. Come on." He climbs on Montana's back. "Hurry though, will you." You're the one taking his sweet time. [The door opens! A guard looks in.] * Montana scoots out the window and starts climbing down the side of the building. (Dangit, that was no time at all!) (Those guards are master lockpicks. Or maybe they just have keys to everything. :D [The guy rushes to the window, hollering in Ukranian!] * Montana keeps moving down! Down the side of the building! "Better give her those codes before we're too dead to!" * Nigel nods. "That's the idea." (Good thing my suit has Fast!) [You get to the bottom. Eventually.] * Montana lets Nigel down. Has the yelling moved to shooting? ( Nope, seems that guard wasn't armed. Might not wanna hang around though. ) * Montana waves for Nigel to follow him and makes for the alley, trying to lose the guards. * Montana weaves through a few streets, looking for a decent place to hide. (I take it we find one?) * Nigel follows Montana and now that he's clear of danger. ~Hey, Alysha. We have those codes. You want me to read them to you or just hand you them when we get there?~ [You find an antique shop to hide in!] * Montana has his mask off now! So he's just a dude in a gray suit. * Montana also coms, focused on Sonia: ~We're gonna need a pick up when you get the chance, darlin'.~ * Montana looks around the antique store! Y'know, while they're there, maybe there's something interesting. * Nigel shrugs and starts to browse around too. * Montana relays a cross-street. ~We're in the antique shop.~ * Montana keeps browsing and chats with Nigel as he does so, a smile on his face: "That was fun, wasn't it?" * Nigel shrugs. "Yeah. I suppose it was. Once I was done with the receptionist. She didn't speak a word of English and kept yelling at me in Ukrainian. Didn't think I would ever need to learn to speak Ukrainian." Yeeeeah, kinda thinking that'll be a problem. With all of the little countries we're hitting. But you did good computer work, even without knowing the language. Pretty damn impressive, I gotta say. * Nigel nods. "Yeah well... Figures I suppose. I'm brilliant with computers. Ma always wanted me to get involved with some big company. You know, something that makes money. Instead, I got a degree in History." * Montana laughs. "At least she was lookin' out for *you*. I was stuck with an alcoholic deadbeat of a pa who raised a slightly less deadbeat son. Didn't even get through high school." * Nigel squints his eyes and shakes his head in disbelief. "What?" * Montana picks up a small vase, looking it over. "What do you mean, 'what'?" And then he gets distracted. "Hey, that's a nice clock." And he moves to pick that up instead. * Nigel shakes it off and heads over towards Montana. "Now hold on. Hold on a minute. What do you mean you didn't finish High School? How is that possible?" Weeeeeeell, you're only *required* to go to high school until you're sixteen. Legally, I mean, required. So I dropped out at fifteen, did some odd jobs... I'm literate, though! You should be proud! * Nigel shakes his head and continues to browse around. "Yes. Well, I suppose that does put you above most people. Well done." !leave * Dicesuke has left #MC5-2 * Montana looks the clock over. "Really, pretty nice." He sets it back down. "I guess that makes you the dry, sarcastic one, too." * Montana starts checking out the jewelry. * Brett has quit IRC (Quit: z.z) * Nigel shrugs. "I'm British. We're all dry and sarcastic." Mmm. What sorta history you get into? Unless it's alla the histories. Guess that's possible. (Let me know when you want me to show up.) (If at all.) Mostly Egyptian. I know a great deal about British History, of course, but my specialty is Egyptian. * Montana keeps jewelrying. "Yeah? Why's that?" (Right! Once Dre gets back I'll ask him.) (Yeah, you can show up whenever you like.) * Nigel shakes his head. "Oh. I don't know. I suppose I thought it sounded mysterious. Turns out I was right." He looks around at some vases. Yeeeeah, I bet. Tombs and pictures... heiroglyphics or somethin' like that. You can read those? * Nigel shrugs. "Yeah. Of course." Neat, maybe you can teach me how sometime. * Nigel nods. "Yeah, sure. If you're interested." Well. We'll see. Never been good at the schoolin'. * Nigel shrugs. "Yes. Clearly. No matter, though. My students aren't always brilliant and somehow they seem to grasp it. At least at the basic level. So... what do you do. You know, besides breaking and entering?" (Taking! Break, enter, take!) * Montana thinks about that. "I... take stuff." (YES!) * Nigel shakes his head. "I meant aside from your 'job.'" * Montana laughs. "Well, I guess I do stuff people normally do. Watch the TV, y'know. Play darts but not very good at 'em. Got a soft spot for card games. And good food." * Sonia rolls up the street in their swwet, sweet van. (PS: Only moderately sweet, perhaps actually savory.) She comms, ~Hat and cloak, come in.~ * Nigel nods. "Yeah well. Sounds more 'normal' than my life. I spend most of my time researching. When I'm not down at the pub..." He then comms back ~Be right out.~ "Looks like our ride is here." Ah, that's a great idea! We gotta get you a cloak! * Montana grins and pats Nigel on the back as he walks out. * Nigel shakes his head and heads out as well. * Montana slides into the van. "Hey darlin', you miss us?" * Nigel climbs into the van. "Sounds like you had a spot more action than us." * Sonia looks over through her sunglasses and says, with a slight smile, "Do I ever?" The smile slips away and she starts off, adding, "The boss seemed happy about how everything went." Glad we weren't almost caught for nothin', then. * Montana removes his vest and starts pulling normal clothes on over his suit. He's clearly used to changing in vans. * Sonia shrugs slightly and says, "Our flyboy's a hell of a sniper. Two targets for my one. Our bossies boss didn't get scratched." Damn, didn't know he was that good with a gun. (Hm, maybe we should end? I think we're kinda slowing down because late.) (Yeah, pry.) (Yeah ending is fine) (Okay! Mecha, I give you the honors!) * Sonia shrugs a little and drives on. "Maybe I shouldn't shoot them in the head." Well, they ain't gettin' up from a headshot, at least. * Montana finds his hat and puts it on his head. Yes! (End now?) (Sure!) [End this channel!]
