<@Brett> [Day: Monday, Feb. 22nd. Time: About 8:00 a.m. Location: Unknown] <@Brett> [After a fun day of plane crashing, empty towns, a missing Alysha, monsters trying to kill you and a darkness that makes people vanish, you holed up in a tavern for the night. it's morning and the darkness has gone, but it's been replaced by a thick fog. Hopefully it's not that fog from the Simpsons that turns people inside out and makes you do dance numbers.] <@Brett> [Start] <@Brett> [As a side note, electronics are only selectively working. Namely there seems to be no connections to the outside world. Cell phones don't work, computers can't connect to the internet, etc.] * Montana is awake! And rubbing his stubble as he looks out a now partially uncovered window at the fog. * Gordo 's asleep across a row of cushions he pulled out of the booths, he also snoars. * Wingdance is curled up in a corner, sleeping. Her long hair is loose and spread out over her face, and she's clutching her sword to her chest like it's a security blanket. * Wingdance is now known as Shiho (I am the best at life. >.>) <@Brett> [Dunno what Wingdance is doing there.] <@Brett> [Lousey place for a vacation.] (Shiho did those thiiiings) * Sonia walks up behind Montana and says, "All ready to make a run for the border today?" Assuming we can fucking see the border. * Montana points out the window. * Nigel also wakes up. "Well it seems that most of the problems started happening at night. Since it's morning, I move that we do a bit more looking about and see if we can't get some answers." We ain't here for answers. * Montana nods in agreement with Sonia. "I just wanna get the hell out of dodge. Whatever this is, we ain't at a safe distance for study, or whatever." * Nigel shrugs. "Miss Alysha disappeared somewhere in the area, though... Possibly the same way that bloke from last night did." Yeah, and we're *clearly* equipped for dealing with mystery smoke! Face it, Nigel, you have no idea what that was or how to stop it. <@Brett> ( You need a walrus ) (Wrong game!) * Nigel nods and gets up. "Never said I did, but I'm quite used to that, actually. Granted, usually I have some idea what I'm dealing with, but this is not much different from that time when I was breaking into the cult headquarters of the Hand of Osiris. I had no idea what that relic did, really. Turned out okay... well except for that poor bloke in the van..." He waves it off and shrugs. "Anyway, * Nigel I have a feeling those people aren't dead." * Shiho jerks upright suddenly and looks around the room through her hair, then mumbles something in another language and yawns. Oh. And I'm guessin' your feelings can tell us where they are, too? * Nigel raises an eyebrow. "Now don't be ridiculous. Of course not, but like I said previous... it's daylight now, and there's no evil devouring darkness around. Couldn't hurt to have a look." Yeah, because looking worked yesterday and today's got even better visibility. Besides, we don't even know where we are. What direction would we even run? * Sonia nods and says, "What if this is just a big distraction or somethin'? That's another day they'll get on us." <@Brett> [So you'd think, but just then the door flies open. Behind it is what looks like an extremely muscular dog, with pistons for hands and all the skin and fur flayed off.] <@Brett> ( Gimme init rolls :D ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Sonia and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. 2d6+11 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+11 for Shiho and gets a natural 7 for a result of 18. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Montana and gets a natural 4 for a result of 9. (I thought we barred and jammed that door!) <@Brett> ( Maybe! Didn't stop piston-dog though ) (I thought we did too!) (Oh bugger... I need to run to my laptop to get Nigel's sheet. Be back) (It was kind enough to wait until most of us had woken up!) (IT IS IRRELEVANT) (Dog attacks, we lose.) (I really wasn't hired to fight cyborg dogs.) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Gordo and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. (I drive cars. :) (I fly aeroplanes!) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Nigel and gets a natural 9 for a result of 14. <@Brett> [Shiho, Gordo, Nigel, Pistondog, Sonia, Montana] <@Brett> [Shiho!] stands and pulls her sword from her sheath in one fluid move, discarding the sheath as she slices forward and down at the creature. Unfortunately, she cuts some of her very long hair at the same time. 2d6+8 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+8 for Shiho and gets a natural 5 for a result of 13. <@Brett> [Shiho cuts a gash in its shoulder, with some effort; its thick muscle seems resiliant. It howls as blood flows from the wound.] <@Brett> [Gordo] * Gordo sits up at the noises of combat starting and then blinks at the dog thing before diving for the pistol that was near his head and shooting at it. "THE FUCK IS THAT?!" (Full attack) 2d6+7 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+7 for Gordo and gets a natural 8 for a result of 15. <@Brett> [Gordo shoots it in the chest, drawing more blood. Seems it's got blood to spare.] (Is it Nigel's turn?) <@Brett> ( Oh, yeah o.o ) * Nigel picks up his sword from wherever near his sleeping spot he stored it and rushes at the dog thing and slashes at it, while he answers Gordo. "This may not surprise you at this point, but I have no bloody clue." 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Nigel and gets a natural 6 for a result of 12. * Nigel for the record, doesn't sound frustrated as much as facinated by that fact. <@Brett> [The dogthing uses one of its heavy arm... things to turn Nigel's blade aside. It howls and uses the other to try to crush Shiho.] (THIS MAY NOT BE FINISHED) * Montana yells to Nigel, "And you want to fucking *stick around*?" * Nigel tries to mantain his balance and says dryly. "Yes, of course." (Shiho, defeeeense!) 2d6+7 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+7 for Shiho and gets a natural 10 for a result of 17. <@Brett> [Shiho easily dodges the dog. Its piston arm hits the floor so hard that it breaks the polished wooden planks, leaving a small hole you can see the basement through.] <@Brett> [Sonia's turn] <@Brett> 1d2 * Dicesuke rolls 1d2 for Brett and gets a natural 1 and a modified 1, a CRITICAL FAILURE! "We've developed an implantable luck generator you could try, if you aren't using that liver..." * Sonia snorts as she moves forward, body twisting as she swings her fist into the dog to deliver a beating. "Not seeing anything worth sticking around for." (Full attack) 2d6+9 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+9 for Sonia and gets a natural 8 for a result of 17. (Sonic puncho.) <@Brett> Sonia's fist lands with a meaty thwack, causing the dog thing to howl in pain. It also drips blood on her arm. Ew. At least she's not melting.] <@Brett> [Montana] * Sonia shakes her hand off. "If we had anything to go on, maybe, but we got worse than nothin'." * Montana draws his gun lefthanded and fires at the hole Gordo placed in the creature's chest, backing away to put a table between him and it. 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Montana and gets a natural 6 for a result of 12. <@Brett> [And, oddly enough, Montana hits. Blood pours from the wound as the creature howls and staggers.] <@Brett> [Shiho!] * Shiho pushes her hair out of her face with her free hand and stabs at the dog. 2d6+8 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+8 for Shiho and gets a natural 8 for a result of 16. <@Brett> [Shiho stabs the dog in the chest. It gurgles, takes a step towards her, then collapses, blood forming in a pool around it.] * Montana fires into the dog a few times just to be sure. * Nigel walks over to the dog thing and examines it. "I wonder if this is also genetically modified." * Sonia shakes her head and says, "Hope nobody wanted breakfast." Already ate, don't feel so good. * Gordo stands up and staggers his way to the bar, after a wakeup like that, he could use another drink. "Who else is for bugging out before something else tries to eat us?" * Shiho moves with quick, practiced motions to rebelt her sheath, quickly wipe her sword and return it to the sheath, and tie her hair back up, all the while muttering curses in a variety of languages. 2d6+9 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+9 for Nigel and gets a natural 5 for a result of 14. Way ahead of ya, Gordo, though my brother will probably disagree. * Montana jerks his thumb towards the back. "Guessin' the back exit might be a little safer." * Nigel nods and points out some markings on the dog. "It is, as a matter of fact. Someone around here has some incredible technology. This should not be possible." Great, so. Someone around here has incredible technolgy and is harvesting whatever's living for parts, probably with a creepy shadow whatsit, LET'S LEAVE. Yeah, like our impossible plane crash. * Montana heads back, muttering about how it's probably aliens, too. And our impossible broken car. * Montana works on unbarring the back exit, past the kitchens. And our impossible disappearing people. Good on them. There's five of us and god knows how many of them. * Nigel shakes his head. "No. People disappearing isn't impossible at all. I've seen that at least a dozen times. I don't know what that thing WAS, but the disappearing part isn't unusual." * Shiho finishes her curses with, "Idiot offspring of a syphilitic whore and an inbred goat! I want out of here." * Montana calls to the others, "Coming or what?" * Gordo knocks back a drink of something vaugly plum flavored and goes to help Monty with the door. * Nigel shrugs and sighs. "Yes, all right." He starts to head towards the back exit and picks up his crossbow and quiver on the way. <@Brett> [The door goes through the process of being unlocked.] * Shiho follows after, her sword unsheathed again now that she's done tying up her hair. * Montana checks out the window before daring to open the door. <@Brett> [Outside the window, Montana sees a red car, part of a telephone poll, and fog.] * Gordo draws his gun. * Montana opens the door and steps out and to one side. <@Brett> ( Montana, gimme a 2d6 ) 2d6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6 for Montana and gets a natural 7 for a result of 7. <@Brett> [Montana succeeds!] (>.>) * Gordo ducks out the door and looks the other way down the street. <@Brett> ( Did you want to fail? :o ) <@Brett> [Gordo sees.... Fog.] * Sonia is heading out as well, looking around with sonics up as usual. Since they're always on. Nothin. * Montana looks around. "Yeah... pick a direction and go, unless someone's got a better idea. Don't want to wait here for things to get us." * Gordo shrugs and points to his right. "That way." * Montana goes that way, then! * Nigel follows, but also looks around for anything that can give him a clue what is going on. * Shiho follows along after everyone, staying at the rear of the group. * Gordo keeps an eye out for anything that might try to eat us. <@Brett> [You head "that way". So far nothing jumps out to eat you. Although.......] <@Brett> ( Gimme awareness checks. ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Gordo and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. (Does Sonicvision affect things?) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Montana and gets a natural 6 for a result of 12. 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Sonia and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. 2d6+7 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+7 for Nigel and gets a natural 2 and a modified 9, a CRITICAL FAILURE! "Excellent! We've been looking for a test subject. Hold on to this horseshoe and penny while I alert the Leprechaun Entrapment Brigade, we'll have you fixed in no time..." (...why the hate.) <@Brett> ( Nope, no sonic vision for this. ) (Awareness is which stat?) <@Brett> ( Mmm... Whichever's your highest in this case. ) 2d6+10 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+10 for Shiho and gets a natural 10 for a result of 20. (Oh.) (Add +2 to mine then, so 14.) <@Brett> [Everyone who got 12 or above notices that as you walk, what little you can see of the surroundings begin changing. It feels darker, iron objects look rusty. There's an unusual amount of chains and fences. More and more shops are boarded up.] <@Brett> [Nigel notices nothing particularly odd, however.] (I am clearly too buisy looking for living things to notice the walls changing) ... You sure you picked the right direction, Gordo? ...Guys, I think this is the wrong way. It was 60/40, wh... The hell happened to this place? * Nigel looks around. "Hm?" * Gordo blinks at the new scenery. "When did we get trapped in an old engin shop?" * Shiho stops. "I'm not... no. Let's go the other way." Yeaaah. * Montana stops when Shiho does, because splitting up seems an especially bad idea right now. * Gordo turns right around. * Montana checks his watch. * Shiho turns around and starts walking back, hopefully to less creepy surroundings. * Sonia is emotionless as she sticks with the group, shifting her grip on her suitcase. * Gordo tries to pay more attention to his surroundings in the fog this time. <@Brett> ( Gordo, gimme a defense roll ) (Ranged or melee?) (Ranged or Me... Yes) <@Brett> ( melee ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Gordo and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. (Actually, looking at my char sheet, that's irrelivant. I've only got a differnt bonus for flying) <@Brett> [As Gordo starts turning back, he suddenly gets run over. Ow. The good news is it's not by a vehicle, just a tire.] <@Brett> [Still hurts though.] Gahowbloodyhell! Where'd THAT tyre come from? <@Brett> [At the edge of your vision, the tire turns around and heads back!] <@Brett> d5 * Dicesuke rolls 1d5 for Brett and gets a natural 3 for a result of 3. <@Brett> ( Nigel! Gimme a melee defense roll! ) * Montana draws and fires at the freaking tire! (Can I roll that, too?) (It's a freaking tire!) * Gordo does the same thing as Monty again. <@Brett> ( K ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Nigel and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. (Uh... can I shoot the goddamn tire?) 2d6+7 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+7 for Montana and gets a natural 9 for a result of 16. 2 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2 2d6+6 for Gordo and gets a natural ( 3 3 ) for a result of ( 9 9 ). (Or does it have multiple attacks a turn?) <@Brett> [Nigel is better prepared than Gordo, and dodges the driveby. Then Montana shoots it and it pops and rolls in a small circle before landing flat.] Y'alright, Gordo? Don't think it broke anything, but I'll be feeling that for a good while. * Shiho rubs her face with her free hand. "If you're okay, let's keep going." Let's just get out of this. * Sonia half-smiles for a moment, then says lowly at Shiho, "You're takin' this hard." You wanna keep goin' back, then? This is beyond creepy. We're walking around in a horror film, of course I'm taking it hard. If a goddamn wannabe dictator came out shooting at me right now, I'd be thrilled. At least that's in the realm of normal. Yeah, let's keep heading the way we came from. <@Brett> [Suddenly, Joseph Stalin appears, screaming in Russian and firing a tommygun.] (At this point, I don't know if that's a joke) <@Brett> [Good news is he's not firing at you so much as everywhere.] <@Brett> [And then poof, he's gone.] * Gordo just stares. "That just happened, right?" * Montana stares. "Yes.... wait..." * Shiho stares for a moment, then starts laughing. Before that happened, you made a refrence- oh CHRIST. * Nigel nods. "I think it may have done." He shakes his head. * Sonia rubs her head. "Who the fuck was that?" Joseph Stalin. * Shiho laughs so hard she has to clutch at her stomach and bend over. Russian dictator from 1941 to 1953. * Nigel is, as it happens, a history professor, remember. Oh. Yeah. Ancient history's not my thing. * Nigel shrugs. "Luckily it is mine." * Gordo shakes his head. "Know the name, couldn't pick him outa line up." * Sonia looks over at Montana. "So if I say somethin' like, 'Alysha should show up so we can get out of here,' it'll happen?" * Montana looks around, waiting to see if it'll happen. * Nigel shrugs. "It is possible." * Shiho takes one last, long gasp, as if she's about to burst into tears, and abruptly shuts up. Her breathing slowly returns to normal. You feeling better? * Nigel looks concerned. "Shiho, are you okay, miss?" * Shiho 's expression is calm, but she sounds scared. "I want to get out. Can we keep moving?" Yeah. Yeah, let's go. * Nigel nods. "Naturally." He keeps walking. * Montana does as well. Right then. * Shiho continues following at the rear of the group. <@Brett> [You head back the way you think you came! But none of the surroundings look familiar. The asphalt is cracked, the signs on all the stores are faded, the buildings are all boarded up, and one streetlight has a skeleton hanging from a chain noose.] ... Getting a wee bit tired of the horror movie... * Montana eyes that. "Gettin' the feeling it doesn't matter which way we go." Great. So we're going to die in some sort of magic trap. <@Brett> ( Gimme hearing checks. ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Sonia and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. (Mind or body?) <@Brett> ( Mind ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Montana and gets a natural 11 for a result of 17. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Gordo and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. 2d6+7 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+7 for Nigel and gets a natural 6 for a result of 13. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Shiho and gets a natural 4 for a result of 9. <@Brett> Pretty much everyone but Shiho hears a noise coming from a building on your left, a building that seems to have been a minimart.] * Sonia frowns and yells in, "Alysha?" * Gordo trains his gun on the store waiting for it. (What kind of noise?) * Montana does, too. <@Brett> ( A rummaging of sorts. ) * Shiho looks over after everyone else does, following their cue, and raises her sword. <@Brett> [At Sonia's shout, a gigantic rat pokes its head out of the store.] <@Brett> [It peers at you a blinks. Twice.] (How giant? Like normal giant or like impossible giant?) (How gigantic are we talking?) <@Brett> ( Maybe about 4 ft. tall. Hard to tell since you can only see its head. ) (Okay so impossible gigantic) * Montana says to the others, "Let's keep going. Slowly." * Nigel narrows his eyes and shrugs and says "Can you talk?" in Greek. * Gordo starts to edge away, keeping his gun on the rat. (Worth a shot at this point.) (Who knows, really!) <@Brett> [The rat squeaks.] * Sonia is with Montana on going. * Nigel stops... and also seems kind of shocked and then responds to the squeak in Greek. * Montana edges away, and then that happens, and he stares at Nigel. "Are you *talkin' to the rat*?" <@Brett> [The rat squeaks back.] And how the fuck do you know rat! ...This is getting too fucking weird. * Nigel turns back to Montana, "Cambridge education." Well, you're teachin' me that trick later. * Nigel shakes his head and responds in Greek. * Gordo lowers his gun. <@Brett> The big rat shakes his head up and down and sqGreeks. * Shiho lowers her sword again and keeps a look out on the area. * Montana has lowered, but not holstered, his gun. * Nigel responds with more Greek. <@Brett> [Shiho sees nothing imediately threatening, except maybe the giant rat. Or a shelf full of what looks like fried bacon, that's probably a heart attack in a box.] * Nigel seems very excited about this response. * Gordo looks up at the skelly hanging from the light post. "You don't speak English do ya?" <@Brett> [The skeleton says, "No. I'm dead."] * Nigel responds with more Greek, however, you can make out "Alysha" <@Brett> [The rat nods and squeaks.] * Montana blinks, then calls up to the skeleton, "Yeah? How long ya been dead for?" Right, so if you wern't going to talk to me, which way wouldn't you say out is? And another bar, I think we could both use another drink. * Nigel responds again and then turns to the group. "The rat found Alysha. She's okay. He needs us to help bring her food. <@Brett> [The skeleton says, "I don't know, I'm dead."] <@Brett> Snitch squeaks. * Nigel adds. "His name is Snitch." <@Brett> ( Snitch being the rat, not that you'd know that :P ) <@Brett> ( Nevermind >.> ) * Montana blinks at Nigel. "Uh... yeah, sure. Thanks Snitch?" Right... Think deep fried bacon counts as food? * Nigel nods. "I imagine." Are you sure he's seen her? Are we going to end up being food for baby rats? <@Brett> ( Nah, they're teens at least. ) * Montana goes ahead and grabs the box of deep fried bacon, then. It's better than nothing. * Nigel does more Greeking. * Nigel also turns to Shiho. "I am sure. He named her before I did." * Shiho nods. <@Brett> [As Montana enters, he sees that Snitch is a 4 ft. tall grey rat in a tattered long grey coat. On further inspection, it appears to be a lab coat.] Well, let's get her found then. <@Brett> [Snitch squeaks at Nigel.] * Nigel also goes inside with Snitch. * Montana peers at the coat. "... You're a scientist, huh." <@Brett> [The rat holds up a powerbar and waves it, squeaking.] * Nigel shakes his head. "Apparantly the bacon is not healthy enough." * Nigel also does more Greek. Well, goddamn. * Montana sets the bacon aside and looks for something else, then. I'd check the bar, but I've no bloody idea where that's gone to. <@Brett> [Snitch has a collection of various food items on a counter nearby him already, he was in the process of gathering them when you showed up.] <@Brett> [He grabs a can of what looks like tomato soup next.] * Nigel nods at the rat and looks around the minimart for more healthy food. * Gordo waves to the dead guy and enters the store to look for food. <@Brett> [The skeleton doesn't wave back.] * Montana grabs a basket if he can. "We could use food eventually too, assuming it don't turn us into giant rats or somethin' around here." <@Brett> [The minimart has plenty of food, though it's not necessarily easy to tell what things are without reading Serbian.] * Gordo judges things by the pictures on the cans! <@Brett> [Snitch shakes his head at Nigel.] * Nigel Greeks more as he gathers food that looks like cans and powerbars and the like. (BABY FOOD) * Montana does as well - boxes, too - filling up the basket. * Nigel also gathers vegetables. (babby needs fud) <@Brett> [Snitch nods approvingly, squeaking.] * Shiho looks around and takes a few random things. * Nigel does more Greek. <@Brett> [Snitch pauses, then squeaks.] <@Brett> [Before long you gather a number of healthy-looking foods.] * Nigel greeks. <@Brett> Snitch nods twice and squeaks. <@Brett> [The rat grabs the pile he's collected (mostly powerbars, canned food and orange juice) and heads out into the street.] * Nigel follows as he Greeks. "He's taking us to Alysha." * Nigel also takes the food he gathered. Good. <@Brett> [As you leave, the skeleton says, "Later, Snitch." He squeaks back at it. <@Brett> ] * Gordo follows the rat. * Montana nods. He tags along, basket in his right hand. <@Brett> [Snitch walks on his two hind legs. Or waddles, more like, it looks kinda adorable. At least as adorable as a giant rat in an old lab coat can be.] * Montana asks Nigel. "Was it human once?" <@Brett> [He doesn't go far, though, shortly reaching an open manhole in the street.] <@Brett> [He looks back at you, and squeaks a high pitched, "Is here!" in English, apparently. Then climbs down with 1 paw, holding his goods with the other.] * Nigel follows suit. * Montana glances down. He removes his hat, pulls his hood over his face, and puts the hat back on. Now he's a faceless dude with a hat! * Montana then follows down when convenient. * Gordo puts his gun away before climbing down. <@Brett> [At the bottom, Snitch pulls a flashlight from his labcoat pocket and flicks it on, starting down a dark, smelly corridor.] * Shiho sheathes her sword to climb down and takes it back out at the bottom. * Montana moves silently after the rat, breathing easily thanks to his mask's filters. Gah. <@Brett> [You follow the rat through a maze of corridors until finally he leads you to a large steel door. He pulls out a key (an old fashion, large key) and unlocks it. Behind it is a long corridor lined with fans, though they seem to have been made from recycled steel objects. He flicks a switch and the fans turn on, thankfully alleviating some of the smell.] <@Brett> [He waddles down the corridor, leading you to another large door.] * Montana keeps a-goin' with his basket o' foods. * Gordo continues trucking. (There light down here, or are we still on the one flashlight?) (I have sonic sense!) (And I have infrared, woo!) <@Brett> [And he opens that one, too. Behind is a large room. There's an old ratty (no pun intended) couch in front of a small (but apparently servicable!) TV. There's also an overhead light, a fridge and microwave. At the far wall is a book case, though it's missing a shelf. The remaining shelves are filled with books. There seems to be another room through an archway, and you can see an old mattress <@Brett> on the floor.] * Nigel walks inside and looks around. "Miss Alysha?" <@Brett> [And there's also a desk, with an old (at least 2 decades old) laptop. One that Alysha is working at when you enter.] <@Brett> [She looks up at Nigel's call and grins. "Hey guys!"] <@Brett> [End!]
