<@Brett> [Date: Saturday, Feb. 27th. Time: 8:30 a.m. Location: At the hotel in Granbia-Solda] <@Brett> [Y'all get a wake-up call from the hotel staff. Hooray?] <@Brett> [Start] (Question, Brett. Is this the day after last session?) (The better question is "Is this the Day After the Nigel/Shiho mini, which is the day after last session, or do we have to mess with stuff to make that work?) <@Brett> ( It is Satuday. ) <@Brett> ( Whether or not that's the day after the last session, I dunno. There's no log :P ) (Okay, it IS the next day - can we move this session to Sunday to make the other minis work?) <@Brett> ( I think 25 might have been on a Friday, though. ) (Or is that crazy? ^^) (There is so a log>) <@Brett> ( We can't o.O Alysha told you the weapon's fair was on Sat. in session 24 ) (Mecha: I'm not seeing it.) ( http://besm.sandwich.net/MC5/logs/mc5-025_2.txt ? ) (Blargh. Okay. We'll work some stuff with the Nigel/Shiho mini to make it work. Nigel and Shiho don't mention the night at the club, oddly. So all we need to do is remove Nigel asking Shiho out in session 25 and say they went out the day before) (Mecha: No, session 25.( <@Brett> ( Alright ) <@Brett> ( Sorry ^^; ) (Yeah, 25 is busted. But it was on friday.) (It's okay.) (Hokay, will rearrange things.) * Mechazoom is now known as Sonia (Next question! How's this wake up call happening? ^^) <@Brett> ( The phone rings :P ) (In our rooms or in the suite common room?) <@Brett> ( Then when you pick it up, someone says "This is so-and-so at the front desk giving you your wake up call." ) <@Brett> ( In your rooms ) (Ah! Okay.) * Montana picks up the phone, dripping wet and wearing a towel. Hey, he was already awake! "Mornin'," he tells the individual over the phone, listens, and hangs up. "'s a wake up call!" he calls towards the bathroom, where the shower is running. * Nigel reaches over from his bed and picks up the phone. "Cheers." He nods a few times and hangs up before getting up himself and heading into the shower. * Sonia must be the one in the shower that Montana was yelling at, since she's not in the room proper. She doesn't yell back. * Montana nevertheless decides Sonia must have heard him, because he goes about drying off and getting dressed: underwear, suit, jeans, flannels, leather jacket. Socks, boots, hat off the floor and onto head. Storing weapons and equipment in various places. It's a process that takes quite a while. * Montana also checks his stubble in the mirror - a little bit overgrown but not *too* bad. Wait another day before shaving it down to a little too short. * RDMgryphon is now known as AFKgryphon * Nigel returns from his shower, suits up, straps his sheath to his belt, sheaths the sword, straps on his quiver of bolts, grabs his crossbow and heads out. * DreFK (TwistedRid@173-16-137-10.client.mchsi.com) has joined #mc5 (That was a weird random discon. Did my pose go through?) * Sonia comes out of the shower in a towel that covers her, her hair is poofed out, and she's still quite wet. She says, clearly annoyed, "Who the hell put in a wakeup call." (It did.) * Ardweden (ardweden@173-16-137-10.client.mchsi.com) has joined #mc5 <@Brett> ( ._. ) 4] * Nigel (TwistedRid@173-16-137-10.client.mchsi.com) Quit (Ping timeout) * Ardweden is now known as Monty * DreFK is now known as Nigel (Everyone loves pinging out.) 5] * Montana (ardweden@173-16-137-10.client.mchsi.com) Quit (Ping timeout) (To be fair, we share a connection.) * Monty is now known as Montana * Montana looks over at Sonia from the mirror. "Guessin' it's the boss lady." * Sonia rolls her eyes and says, "Lousy kids." She walks over to her pile of clothes she picked up yesterday and fishes out clothes to wear, traditional Sonia with her hoodie and pants. * Montana laughs. "I'll letcha get changed." He opens the door and heads out to the common room. Nigel's there! "Uh, hey," Montana says, suddenly a little more awkward, before: "Mornin', Nigel." * Montana does, yes, close the door behind him. * Sonia changes! BEHIND THE DOOR. * Nigel nods and sips the cup of tea he decided to make. "Cheers. So... Miss Johnson must have decided that we needed to be awake at this hour, I suppose." * Montana nods, moving to sit himself, across from Nigel. "Yeah. Wish she coulda told us 'fore she dragged us clubbin' and I drank too much." <@Brett> [Alysha comes out of her and Shiho's room, a big grin on her face. She's wearing a white-skirt suit today. "Morning everyone! Who's ready to look at weapons and meet with competition?"] * Montana turns to Alysha. "Mornin', ma'am. Does it come with breakfast?" <@Brett> [Alysha grins. "We can grab something on the way."] * Nigel looks down at his tea and then at Alysha and shrugs. He takes another big sip and puts the cup aside. "As you say." * Shiho comes out of her room, shutting the door behind her. She's wearing a black single-breasted suit with a white dress shirt, but she's carrying the necktie. Her sword's been peace-bound to the scabbard. "Nigel, can I borrow your neck for a second?" <@Brett> [She looks Nigel's way. "You'll have to peace-bind your sword and leave your crossbow behind, Nigel. Or at least the bolts. That goes for everyone, no loaded weapons today."] * Sonia walks out of her room, hood down, hair back in puffballs. She gives Alysha an odd look, before going, "Does that mean I'm waiting outside? I can't unload." * Nigel shrugs and drops the crossbow and bolts. "Luckily if we get into trouble, I can unbind my sword without too much difficulty." * Nigel also notices Shiho's request and nods, heading over. "Sorry. I didn't hear you. It's early and I didn't get to finish my cup." * Montana raises an eyebrow, then shrugs and takes his gun out from under his jacket. "Guessin' I'll store this, then." <@Brett> ( That's a good question :o Are Sonia's gun and beads a part of her? ) * Shiho lifts her necktie up to Nigel's neck and swings the end around. "That's fine, thanks." She deftly ties a Windsor knot, then loosens it enough to pull it back over Nigel's head and then over her own. She tightens it once it's properly under her collar. "Thank you." (The gun and beads can be left behind, but she's a mass of cyber: there's no way to prove she isn't packing something.) (And her punch is armed.) * Nigel chuckles. "No problem. I'm just glad someone besides me knows how to tie one. I was begining to wonder." He looks down at her sword and leans in to whisper. "Can't imagine you're too happy about this situation. If things go bad, I can burn that loose." He nods. * Shiho nods back. "Thank you, I'd appreciate that." <@Brett> ["I think you'll be fine," says Alysha to Sonia. "Just leave your gun and beads. They'll probably put a tracker on you, is all."] * Nigel grabs some rope and starts to tie his sword. * Sonia frowns a bit more, then mutters, "You sure I can't stay outside." She exhales, rubbing her face. <@Brett> ["Well you CAN, but you'll miss all the fun," says Alysha. "And Gordo already asked to sleep in last night. He was drunk out of his mind."] * Shiho offers Nigel a plastic zip tie. * Montana looks at Nigel strangely, what with the talking to his sword and all, then goes to his room to put his gun away. (I think he was talking to Shiho.) (OH. Nix that part, then, but I'm still putting my gun away!) * Nigel takes it and tosses the rope. "Thanks." * Sonia pulls out her loose weapons and sets them down, before pulling out her sunglasses and putting them on. * Montana returns, closing the door behind him. "I gotta peace tie the whip?" <@Brett> ["I don't think they'll let you take the whip in. But you can hide it," Alysha says.] * Montana smirks. "Done." <@Brett> ( Is it? Gimme a concealment roll :D ) (1. I have the concealment combat technique.) (2. Okay!) <@Brett> ( K ) 2d6+9 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+9 for Montana and gets a natural 5 for a result of 14. (Should I DR that?) <@Brett> ( Nah, if you've got the CT you don't need to roll it at all. ) <@Brett> ( Not for a whip anyhow :P ) (Okay. Montana's basically sneaking in that and a switchblade, which is also easy to conceal, far as weapons go.) <@Brett> ( Switchblade's different, on account of metal detectors. ) (Ah, I hear ya. Okay, leaving that behind then. ^^) <@Brett> ( Can ff when yer ready ) (Ready!) (Ready) <@Brett> [Time: 9:30 a.m.] <@Brett> [Sonia drives you to the weapon's fair! It's in a huge empty lot on the outskirts of the city, with geniune tents and things set up, surrounded by a fence covered with advertisement signs.] <@Brett> [You get in with no problems, although sure enough Sonia gets a tracking device.] <@Brett> [For a weapons fair in a country known for its constant rebellions, there's quite a crowd here.] (Let us know when you're done descing. ^^) <@Brett> ( I'm done :P ) <@Brett> ( Well not really, but feel free to do stuff while I continue :P ) * Montana studies the security as they head in, coming up with ways to avoid/circumvent it. * Sonia seems unhappy about this 'tracking device' crap, but. (What kind of tracker is it?) * Nigel looks around the fair and he passes security. "They certainly are serious about their weapons here, aren't they?" <@Brett> [Alysha leads you down the main path, glancing left at right. She grins as she points to one side. "Check it out," she says, pointing to a range where a man is firing what looks like a grenade launcher at a target. The ammunition it's using bursts part way through, showering the target in tiny darts. "England's Cheshire Hill's new flechette launchers."] <@Brett> ( It's a simple armband, though it's attuned to her systems, so if she takes it off, they'll know. ) Neat, but why? * Nigel nods. "Go us, I suppose." <@Brett> ["Good for armored infantry," Alysha explains. "In many ways they're better than armor-piercing bullets. You can use these to quickly take out a group of armored units."] Huh, those darts must pack a damn good punch. * Nigel looks at Shiho and smirks. "See what I mean? It just wouldn't be fair. What you can do with a pistol and sword, they need to invent new technology for." * Shiho smiles and rolls her eyes. "The launchers would be a lot quicker and safer for me, though." * Nigel nods. "That is true. Maybe we can arrange a prototype." He smiles and keeps looking around. <@Brett> [Alysha grins. "Good enough for someone to want to show them off at an expo. Oh hey, and there's one of ours," She points to a different area, where a man sets a metallic disk-shaped object on the ground then moves away. Seconds later, the disc sprouts six legs and crawls towards a dummy made out to look like a soldier. When it gets within a few feet, it explodes, engulfing the dummy in flames. <@Brett> "Emtech's spider mines, popular worldwide. This must be their new napalm variant."] * Montana nods. He's seen the general spider model, at least, a couple of times. <@Brett> [Alysha grins. "We sell a lot of those for them."] <@Brett> ["That we do," says someone right next to you. A dark-haired caucasian, to be exact. Alysha blinks at him a few times. <@Brett> ] * Montana looks over at him. He doesn't know this guy. Maybe Alysha does? <@Brett> ["Michael... Rowlins, was it?" He nods. Nearby him you can see two other men: a Hispanic guy with long hair and a pointy beard, but no mustache, and an older man with ridiculous sideburns that make him look like he could have come out of the Civil War.] <@Brett> ["And you're Alysha Johnson," says Mr. Rowlins. "Probably the youngest arms dealer ever. Is this your crew?" He looks you over. "So many..."] * Sonia puts her hands in her pockets and eyes people through sunglasses. * Montana waits for Alysha to introduce them - or not. <@Brett> ["Because some of realize that the best places to sell weapons are where people actually use them," says Alysha. She looks at you guys. "Guys, this is Michael Rowlins, VA's Western European salesman. He sells to countries that don't really need weapons, like England and France."] <@Brett> ["And Spain," Michael adds helpfully.] <@Brett> [Alysha turns back to him, "Which begs the question, what are you doing here? This isn't your area, it's mine."] * Montana tips his hat to the man good naturedly, and Alysha starts talking again. <@Brett> [Michael frowns. "Looking for you, actually."] <@Brett> [Alysha raises an eyebrow. "You could have just called."] * Nigel nods to Michael Rowlins. * Shiho nods at Rowlins and continues looking around. <@Brett> [He shakes his head. "No, actually I couldn't. I need to speak with you in private. Can you meet me tomorrow?" He holds out a business card, with something written on the back.] <@Brett> ( Gimme awareness (mind) checks ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+6 for Montana and gets a natural 3 for a result of 9. 2d6+7 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+7 for Nigel and gets a natural 4 for a result of 11. 2d6+8 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+8 for Shiho and gets a natural 7 for a result of 15. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Sonia and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. <@Brett> [Alysha takes it. "Uh... Yeah, I guess. But I've got an appointment on Monday."] <@Brett> [Michael nods. "It won't take long, I hope. Well, I'll see you then." And abruptly, he leaves, the two men following him. Alysha watches him disappear into the crowd, her brow furrowed. "That was... strange."] * Montana looks at Alysha questioningly, along with asking a question: "Y'mean him bein' here, or wantin' to talk to you, or what?" * Shiho says approvingly, "His people were keeping a pretty weather eye out." <@Brett> ["Both. Why would he come all the way to Granbia-Solda to speak with me in person?"] * Nigel shakes his head. "Seems odd. Yes. Also... I'm not sure I like this 'talk to you alone' plan." <@Brett> ["Well, I'm not going to meet him without you guys watching my back," says Alysha.] * Shiho says firmly, "Good." <@Brett> [Alysha shakes her head, then grins. "Well, can't do anything about that now. Moving on!" And she does. Move on.] * Montana moves along. * Shiho follows, as she does. * Nigel also moves along. * Sonia looks around idly as they move around. Who knows. Maybe there's something a little less 'maximum lethality' around. (What's the point of that?) (Fewer murder raps.) (Some of us aren't usually hired to kill, Shiho!) * Montana also is quite interested in things designed to incapacitate rather than kill. <@Brett> [In fact, there is! Alysha points. "Hey, it's France's Phoenix's new force guns," she explains, as a man fires a weird looking gun that ends in what looks like a 3-pointed claw. The air distorts along the path to a dummy, which falls over. "It fires air, basically. A highly concentrated blast that's like getting punched at a long range. They're going to start arming the police with these soon, <@Brett> I hear."] * Sonia nods slightly and says, "Won't mind that. It'd put us on even footing." * Montana chuckles. <@Brett> [As you near the end of the path, Alysha turns down a side section, avoiding the field up ahead that has quite a crowd around it. Beyond, you can see numerous bots destroying dummies of men, tanks and other bots. "Zukunft is popular as always. Let's avoid that one. I'd rather they not see me here."] * Sonia half-shrugs, scratching at her wrist for a moment. "Being here, they'll see you anyway." <@Brett> ["You know Zukunft has it's own arms dealers?" Alysha asks as you walk. "Most other companies these days hire third parties like VA, but not Zukunft. Just as well, I wouldn't want to sell their wares anyhow." She looks over her shoulder at Sonia. "Maybe, but I'm not that eager to meet Sebastian and his gang again. Especially since they tried to have me killed."] Ain't like he's everywhere. Probably huntin' down a mystical fryin' pan to cook that egg. * Sonia groans. "Why in fuck's sake would they be standing here? It's almost as bad as having me on fire support." But yeah, 's probably best not to press yer luck. * Nigel shakes his head. "Now, Miss Johnson... if we avoid all the people who tried to have you killed... We're shrinking our world of social contacts pretty quickly." * Shiho continues looking around, but pays special attention to anyone who looks like they're coming from Zukunft. <@Brett> [Alysha laughs. "Hah. That's funny. Nigel, you just got yourself a raise."] * Nigel chuckles. "Well if that's all it took, you should have said so." <@Brett> ( Instead of a nebulous sum of money, Nigel now gets paid more of a nebulous sum of money ) (I just assume we can buy awesome luxury goods if we want.) (Woot. He gets paid X+Y instead of X) (I like the idea of Alysha justifying it to VA.) ("Nigel deserves a raise. He's funny.") <@Brett> ( :D ) <@Brett> ( Gimme init rolls :D ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+8 for Montana and gets a natural 5 for a result of 13. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Sonia and gets a natural 9 for a result of 14. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+5 for Nigel and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. 2d6+11 * Dicesuke rolls 2d6+11 for Shiho and gets a natural 6 for a result of 17. <@Brett> When you're walking by some Belgian company's display of security turrets, a very large man steps out of the crowd, reaching for Alysha. Shiho, react!] * Shiho steps between Large Man and Alysha, glaring. "Can I help you?" <@Brett> [The large man glares at Shiho. "Out of my way. That bitch killed my brother."] (We still in init?) (Also, can we talk freely?) <@Brett> ( Yeah ) That seems unlikely. It is much more likely that we killed your brother. She doesn't really kill very many people, herself. I'm sure a lot of people here have killed a lot of other people. Or she sold the weapons that someone else used to kill him, in which case, you should be looking in another direction. Also my friend is right. This is a collection of merchants of death, as it were. * Montana shakes his head. He doesn't have much to say, but he is flexing his fingers, ready to take this guy down with a weapon he most certainly does not have. <@Brett> ["Who are you talking about?" Alysha asks.] <@Brett> ["My name is Dimitri Nazarenko," he says, his accent faint but noticably Russian. "Nikolai was my brother, until you murdered him!"] (It seems like were met that guy recently. Who was he?) <@Brett> ( He was the guy you fought in session 5 ) (Ah so not so recent) (We didn't kill him, though.) (Yup.) (Though Montana wasn't THERE there, so he can't confirm that.) I remember him. In fact, I distinctly remember leaving him alive. <@Brett> [A familiar woman comes up next to Dimitri, the one you fought in Montenegro, who works for MMO. Alysha grins over Shiho's shoulder. "Actually I didn't. She did." She nods to the woman.] <@Brett> ["Natascha executed him for his failure," Dimitri says. "A failure that you caused! You may as well have pulled the trigger!"] * Sonia squints at him from behind her glasses. "Maybe he should have been better at his job. It's not our fault you don't let your people learn from screwing up." ...So you're blaming -us- for the fact that your brother -failed-, and not blaming the person who actually killed him? Doesn't that just mean you're too scared to kill that lady yourself? You want to pick on the teenager instead? <@Brett> [His nostrils flare, and he makes to move forward before the Natascha puts a hand on his shoulder. "Easy, Dimitri," she says. "We can't do anything to them here."] <@Brett> [Alysha grins. "Yep. You'd better keep your fomori friend in line."] * Montana mutters, a bit darkly, "'s always easier. Just gotta pick the weakest target, blame them instead." <@Brett> [Natascha stares. "How did you know he's fomori?"] <@Brett> [Alysha beams. "Because you just told me."] * Nigel rolls his eyes. "The whole lot of you are excellent at logic, aren't you?" <@Brett> [Natascha scowls. "We may not be able to do anything to you here, but mark my words, stay in Granbia and you will die. All of you. MMO does not take kindly to those who want to steal our business."] <@Brett> [Alysha grins wider. "And how'd that go for you in Tanigia? I hear MMO lost all its contracts there and in Serbia."] * Nigel shrugs. "We don't take kindly to people trying to kill us. So that makes us even, I'd say." <@Brett> [Natascha glares at Alysha and looks ready to rush her herself, but she manages to curb her anger and turns around, heading into the crowd. "Dimitri! Come!" Dimitri glares at you all, promising, "I'll crush your bones to dust. All of you," before following.] * Montana tips his hat. "Pleasure meetin' ya." He looks to the others. "She should keep him on a leash." <@Brett> [Alysha waves at them as they go, grinning. "That's what I love about this business. Getting to meet new people."] * Shiho turns to Alysha quickly. "Boss, what happens to them if they start a fight here? I'm wondering if it's worth it to piss them off and fight now rather than wait for them to find us." * Sonia glances over at Montana, then sighs and rubs her hands together idly. <@Brett> ["Arested, most likely. Of course, we'd be held as well," she says. "We're gonna just have to let them go. Besides, he's a fomori and we're unarmed. The odds aren't in our favor."] Right. <@Brett> [Alysha strectches and yawns, then says, "I'm hungry. Who's ready for lunch?"] * Montana shrugs. "Sure." * Sonia nods. "Yeah, I'm hungry." <@Brett> [And so you went off somewhere to eat. Yay!] * Nigel shrugs. "I could go for a spot, sure." <@Brett> [End]
