[Day: Thursday, May 12. Time: 9:30 p.m.] [You pull up outside a house. It's a nice house, in a nice suburban area. In case you forgot, you're on your way to kill a ghost for Madrax's sister. Do that and he'll tell you about the source of Brody's magic weed, which... may some how lead to Richard?] [Start] (No, he said he'd tell us where Richard was!) (Well, where he was going.) ( Actually, he said he'd "point you toward LeBlanc" ) ( Madrax points west. "There you go." ) (Well, yes, if he's gonna be a jerk about it...) ( Vampires can be jerks if they want. ) (Would I have had the chance to do some research on this place first?) ( You could, but then it would be later than 9:00 ) (2 hours drive time?) ( No. Last session took place at 8:00. ) ( Actually it should probably be later anyhow. ) (Oh, ha, so it did.) ( I didn't take into account time spent in last session. Maybe we should run it the next day? ) (We didn't really spend an hour in the club, and time is kinda of the essence.) ( Well, it's up to you. You can either show up late and disturb the woman or wait a day and meet with Madrax the next night. :P ) (Thoughts, Eric?) (Hmmm....well, I would prefer to go in with a bit more data.) ( K. Say it's 9:30 then. Unless Eric wants to do research. Looks like any other house on the street though. ) (Like, 'digging through old newspapers for deaths' data?) ( That's another question. How would you go about researching it? XD ) (Newspapers, town records?) ( They probably wouldn't be open this late. ) (Yeah, they wouldn't. How about we do ground recon tonight, if we can deal with it directly, and if not, Library for newspaper archives in the morning.) (alright, that sounds like a plan) * Michel drives them up to the house, then, at 9:30ish! He steps out and exhales upwards, adjusting his hat and tilting his head slightly as if listening to something. [The house is two stories tall, with yellow siding and a red door.. Several lights are on.] * Michel mutters, "Well, I don't think he was makin' it up," as he walks around the car and towards the house. * Eric frowns, "Are you sure?" * Michel looks towards Eric and nods slightly. "Yeah, pretty. You all geared up?" * Eric draws his Ghostbuster Hand Cannon Mk I and nods. * Michel nods slightly and walks up to the door, knocking/doorbelling as necessary to get the occupant's attention! [In a few minutes, a man answers the door. He's a slim 30-something, mostly-bald guy in a plaid shirt and jeans. He looks at both of you in turn. "Can I help you?"] (Did he actually give us her name?) ( Sure. Ummm.... Crap, what's a good Scandanavian name? ) (Saffi?) ( Agatha, that'll do. ) * Michel looks to the guy and replies, "Yeah, Agatha's been talking about how this place is haunted? We're here to take care of it." [He looks at both of you again, at Eric's weapon, and smirks. "Are you guys for real?"] "Certainly." ["Right. Well, tell you what. How about you get off my property and I won't call the cops." He shuts the door.] "I say...how rude." * Michel moves his shoulder forward into the shutting of the door, to stop it, and reply, "No, really. Her brother sent us to take care of the problem." (Body roll, or?) ( Sure, go ahead. ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 10. [Michel manages to stop the door by getting his hand between it and the frame. And damn, that hurts.] [But he opens it again. "Listen, mister. I don't know who you are or how you know about my wife's brother, but he died years ago. Now I'm gonna warn you one more time. Get out or I'm calling the cops.] * Michel winces in pain at the slam, then sighs before he replies, "Let us talk to your wife, then. If she wants us gone, we'll be gone." [He turns around and shouts, "Honey? There's some guys here to see you."] [Shortly, he's joined by a woman, a blond who fits the stay-at-home mom type to a T. Except for her Scandanavian accent. "Who is it?"] [Her husband chuckles. "They say they were sent here by your brother."] [She frowns at him, then looks at you. "My brother's dead."] (Oh geez, I'm starting to smell a set-up here...) * Michel tips his head and replies, "I'm Michel Chaffee, ma'am. Does that mean you haven't got a, uh, spirit problem?" ( Gimme sight rolls! ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+8) and gets 10, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I love you. Do you love me too? Y_ N_" (... no, he doesn't love you.) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 13. [The man smirks again. "You guys must be on drugs."] * Michel glances to the man, then back to the woman. "We're here to deal with the spirt, ma'am. Nothin' else. Honest." A small pause, then, "Can we come in?" [He laughs. "You've got to be joking." But his wife says, "Honey, maybe we should let them look around. You know, I've been hearing noises lately."] [He turns to her. "It's probably mice or the kids. I'm not letting a bunch of strangers into our home. They could be burglars, for all we know.] * Michel looks over at Eric a moment, then back to the two of them. "I gotta tell ya, if we're burglars, coming to the door talkin' about ghosts and a dead brother's the weirdest angle I've ever heard of." A beat, then, "But I think your wife is right about the ghost." [He turns back to Michel. "This is ridiculous. I think we're done here." He slams the door again, his wife saying, "Honey, wai--" as he does.] * Michel lets him slam the door this time, rubbing his face before he turns to Eric. "Guess we'll give 'em a second to talk about it." "Are you sure that's likely to work? The husband did seem quite stubborn..." * Michel chuckles and replies, "Depends on the woman, I guess." He glances at the house. "The spirit's real, though. Someone believin' that... might be enough." * Eric frowns and rubs his face thoughtfully, "Let's hope you're right." [Hearing checks] 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 8. (I HEAR AWESOME) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+8) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 15. (That's my doc.) "Michel, quickly, we must get inside! There's screaming coming from upstairs!" * Michel nods and tests the door to see if it's locked quick, before going for the hard way. [It is!] * Michel takes a step back away from the door and says, "You better be right, doc." And then he raises his leg to kick in the door at the doorknob. Bam! Hopefully. ( Body roll! ) (I vote for Burglary(B&E!)) (It seems appropriate for some B&E.09 ( K ) 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+7) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 16. [Michel breaks the door open.] * Michel heads in, not bothering to draw his gun, because, really, who shoots spirits? Now to find the stairs and head up! * Eric follows close behind, only with his gun drawn. [The stairs are in the same room, off set from the front door.] * Michel heads up them stairs. * Eric is right behind him. [At the top of the stairs, you find a hallway with four rooms. You also see the husband on the floor, bleeding from the forehead, broken bits of a small stand next to him. There's screaming coming from inside the last room on the left.] * Eric runs ahead and aims inside the room, taking a good look at what's inside. * Michel glances at him to see if he's in 'gonna die mode' before joining Eric at looking. (Med (Diagnosis)?) ( Go for it ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 9. [He's breathing. But is he going to die? Beats Michel.] * Michel goes with 'no' and joins Eric in going towards the screaming. It's what makes them detectives! [Inside is a bed room. You spot Agatha in one corner, clutching a six year old boy, while on the bed is an eight year old girl. She's the one screaming. "Mommy!" Probably because the bed is floating in the middle of the room, with a lamp, dresser and a bunch of toys, too.] * Eric lowers his gun, "Damn...no visible manifestation..." (Kids, huh? Possible connection to poltergeist activity?) ( Possibly, though judging from their reactions, not a conscious one. ) * Michel nods slightly, then says out loud, "Alright, spirit, you're angry. Come out and talk. Breakin' things ain't gonna get you anywhere." ( Gimme occult rolls ) 2d6+10 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+10) and gets 22, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "Your logic is faulty, your intelligence is doubtful, and your sumo is insufficient." (eh?) (The dicebot is backwards from 3e.) (oh, right. ^_^;) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+8) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 18. Maybe Michel forgot, but poltergeists never manifest or speak. They don't really haunt specific places, either, though sometimes they haunt specific people. But usually they just terrorize random families.] * Eric sighs, "That won't work, Michel." [A baseball flies at the woman and her son. She screams as it hits the wall next to her.] * Eric looks at the floating bed, and considering the girl is on the bed, he's guessing if there is a focus of the poltergeist activity, it might be the girl. "It might be targetting the girl, I'm not sure..." (It seems like a logical assumption... :J) * Michel steps into the room further. "Well, usually, they won't shut up." He digs in his pocket as he moves in front of the two of them. "We need to get rid of it, doc." ( Michel, gimmea defense roll! ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 13. ( Now hand on while I look up how to do combat :X ) [Michel is able to duck out of the way as a wooden horse flies by his head, breaking into pieces as it hits the wall (the horse, not Michel's head.)] (does it seem to be aiming at the same wall, particularly?) ( Hard to say. First it was aiming at Agatha, but then Michel got in the way. ) (Hmmm...) ( In fact, it's not! ) [A Rocket ship flies at Eric! Gimme a defense roll!] 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 15. * Michel ducks aside from the horse, since it's not gonna hit anyone behind him. As it fires at the doc, he moves forward to try to grab the kid off the bed, with his best 'I'm not scary, really' smile. "C'mon, kid!" [Eric avoids getting hit by a rocket ship.] [As Michel reaches for the kid a vase attacks him. Gimme a defense roll.] * Eric moves over towards Agatha and the other kid. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 8. [Ouch. Michel gets hit with a vase. It breaks. (The vase, not Michel's head).] * Michel gets vased! Ow. He's still reaching out for the kid, though, teeth now gritted. [Michel gets a hold of her. She doesn't resist.] (going afk for a sec, need a defence roll before I go, for trying to reach the other two?) (I have no idea how we're even supposed to deal with this.) (me neither) (We can't interact with it in any way.) ( Nah. ) (k, brb) ( Suppose we'll pause the game for the moment. ) (I really am confused, though. I'm kinda left with 'some sort of exorcism ritual.'.) ( That could work! ) (bak) ( wb ) [Eric gets to the others.] (All I've got is, like, a cross.) * Michel pulls the kid back to the others as well and says, "How're you at exorcisms, Doc?" * Eric frowns, "W-well, I know the rituals, but I've never actually performed one before..." * Michel pulls a cross out of his pocket, from earlier vamp prep, and hands it to him. "Well, now's the time." * Eric takes the cross and gulps, "Ah...right..." "Now...how did that go...?" (Going to attempt the exorcism.) ( K. But gimme a defense roll first. ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets 17, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "Sorry, I don't take bribes. No, not even chocolate. No, not kinky sex acts, either." (We needed the exorcism to succeed! :|) [Eric dodges a lamp!] (Yay!) (Now, exorcism?) (Occult roll? Plus I have Eidetic Memory if that helps at all...) ( Soul (occult) ) 2d6+10 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+10) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 21. [Eric begins the exorcism! While he's chanting, a dresser flies at Michel. Gimme a def roll, Michel.] 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 13. [Michel avoids the dresser! Probably a good thing. That was heavy. It puts a dent in the wall.] [ Meanwhile, the area around the bed glows with a vaguely human form. It looks like it's clawing at the air.] [As it does, a chair flies at Eric. Another def roll!] 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 14. * Michel grabs Eric's gun from him and levels it at the now-visible form. "Anything I gotta do to make this work, Doc?!" [Eric avoids the chair.] (can't stop chanting if this is to work, right? :|) ( Nope ) * Eric frowns at Michel's question, but continues chanting. (I hope it doesn't take much!) * Michel makes sure the, uh, safety isn't on, if it's even got a safety, and takes aim before trying to take a shot. Maybe Eric will knock it out before that. ( Eric, gimme another defense roll! ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. [Eric avoids getting hit by a car. A toy car, that is.] [The spirit continues to claw at the air.] [And then poof! It's gone.] ( 'Cause I need to get to bed :X ) (Fair 'nough...) * Michel whews and lowers the gun, before glancing to Eric and giving him a clap on the back, before handing him the gun back. "Lemme try and help the husband." * Michel heads through the rubble to do so, finishing, "Good job, Doc." * Eric nods, holstering the gun, dabbing his forehead with a kerchief. "Thank you." [Agatha hugs her children, crying.] (This seems a good enough place to stop, handle 'everyone being okay' wrapup in brackets at some point?) ( Aight. ) [Everyone's ok! End]
