Seems the Commies are after him, too.] [They found out a guy called Jeff was trying to meet with the doc to warn him, and decided to go meet Jeff for themselves. So they went to Johnny Flat's, a bar that's surprisingly open at lunch time. But before they could talk to Jeff, three Reds showed up and shot him.] ( What a mouthful ) (Well, uh, we kinda had a problem with that, IIRC.) ( Oh, right. ) (Since apparently me being ready to draw my my gun was slower than them chasing him, drawing their guns, shooting him, AND threatening the entire bar, as well as them managing to do so while also blocking the door.) "And you, hold still." * Melanie snaps at the bartender, "You couldn't have done that while the shooting was going on?" as she goes to each of the Russians' guns and unloads the ammo. * Michel glances to Melanie the efficient, and cracks a small smile as he checks the one guy's pulse with his gloved hand. "You're pretty on the ball, girl." ["Well, no! I could have been shot!" He grabs a phone.] ( gimme a med (diagnostics) roll Michel. ) [And for convenience sake, Eric catches up with Jeff at the back door.] 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 13. * Melanie finishes with the guns. "Half raised by military." With that done, she grips her injured hand with her good one and starts humming. * Michel nods a little, respectfully, as he finishes checking the guy he shot down. "You wanna keep that last Red held onto a moment? Coverin' him's gettin' annoying." [Melanie's wound closes up. On it's own.] * Melanie lets go of her hand after a moment and ducks behind the bar, then comes back with duct tape and ties the man's limbs. (What's the diagnosis?) [He'll live! If he gets medical attention soon.] [Fortunately, the paramedics are on the way, along with the cops, judging from the bartender's conversation on the phone.] * Michel nods slightly and whews, putting his gun back once Melanie's got the one guy taken care of. "Alright, this one'll live." Good. Now, what the hell is going on here? [Eric did catch up with Jeff.] (Talk to Jeff! Yaay!) 'Hey, kid!' * Michel looks at her, rubs his head, then takes off the glove and says, "I don't know we're gonna have time to explain it." He must not have caught the healing thing yet. * Melanie folds her arms and glares at him. "Really? You goin' somewhere?" * Michel looks back at her. "Might have to. It's a big deal, kid, and we ain't got a lot of time." [Jeff throws up his hands as Eric approaches. "Please don't shoot me!"] 'I'm not gonna shoot you, I just want to talk. It's not safe here though, you need protection.' The cops are just gonna love your sunshine attitude. [Jeff glances past Eric at the communists, then nods. "Okay."] * Michel smiles weakly. "Yeah, they liked me about as much when I was one of 'em." He then adds, "Look, I've got a PI's license, and we're on a big case." He steps over after Eric and yells, "You got the other kid, Eric?" * Eric helps Jeff get to the car. (Talk to meeee.) * Melanie looks out towards where the guys are leaving. "Hey, hey! If he doesn't pay, it comes out of my damn check!" * Michel licks his lips, then pulls out his wallet and starts fishing out bills. "Whoa, whoa, hold on, I'll--get it..." He pulls out something that's probably too much for whatever the kid bought. * Melanie snatches the bills out of Michel's hand. "Thanks. Now get out before you attract more trouble." * Michel blinks at the Melanie Whirlwind Tour, then shakes his head and says, "Right." A small pause, then, "If the cops need me," he pulls out a card from the same wallet and hands it to her. "Here you go." He then turns to go off after Eric, muttering about crazy doctors and commies. * Melanie pockets the card and counts the money, heading back to the bartender. ( Araaaaa. ) ( I thought you were going to join up at this point :X ) (That's why I gave her the card!) (The cops will want to talk to all witnesses. She'll find them later.) * Michel heads to Eric and the car. "Hey. You and the kid alright?" [Hokay! Well, meanwhile Michel and Eric go to the car with Jeff.] "Yeah, we're good." [Jeff looks at you nervously. "Who are you guys?"] (brb) * Michel looks to Jeff and replies, "We're the Mystery Club detectives, and we're tryin' to find your, uh, professor, Doc Gutenberg?" You mighta noticed you two were in big trouble. [He frowns. "I was hoping he'd meet me at the bar."] * Michel shakes his head and replies, "He'd already disappeared when we got to his apartment. Either he went to ground already, or they've got him. We're gonna need your help." * Michel glances over his shoulder. "And we're gonna need to ask those commies some questions." [He frowns.
