[Day: Thursday, May 12. Time: 9:00 p.m.] [It's a warm night in New Orleans, where our heroes currently find themselves at a bordello run by Carmilla the vampire, a dangerous lady who may have hold of Doctor Gutenberg, the inventor of a gene-altering serum.] [On the one hand, they're on the second floor, completely surrounded by Carmilla and her 5 vampire buddies. On the other hand, someone just started firing downstairs.] [Aight? Aight. Start] (Two vampires behind us. Team Melee Combatants double takedown!) [Carmilla sighs, looking more annoyed than anything. "Tom, Rose," she motions to the two red-headed vampires. "Stay here and watch them. If any one of the moves an inch.." she runs a finger across her neck. "The rest of you, with me." She heads downstairs, and the others follow.] [Shortly, there's more gunfire and screaming.] (Are the redheads the ones behind us? Or are they at the table?) [They're at the table, although now they're getting to their feet.] (Are the others fully gone?) "I really think you ought to worry less about us and more about your master and friends downstairs..." Eric notes helpfully. [Yep! The dancers are still there, though. And they've stopped dancing.] (Alright... *looks something up*) [The one who is Tom grins, bearing his fangs. "You don't know Carmilla. Whoever attacked this place is gonna be sorry."] (Alright. I'm gonna use Wait for an Opening to get a +1 to hit on my attack roll.) (For 'this round'.) * Melanie is watching the vampires, but glances over to Michel before she speaks. "I'm kind of confused as to how 'not a place for a married woman' came to mean 'vampire-infested shithole'." (Ha ha ha ha.) ( And I'm gonna look that up ) (Page 144.) "Now, now...let's all try to be civil, shall we...?" * Michel glances over at Melanie and replies, "Honestly, kid, I wasn't sure if you'd freak out at the mention of 'em. I seen cops lose their marbles over it. Was hopin' she'd be a little more reasonable." (Eric will also be waiting for an opening if he can...) [Rose glances at Tom. "You think Carmilla would mind if we took a little bite?"] (I'm gonna use Wait for an Opening as many rounds as they give us, and then make my move when the opening occours!) I mean, God knows, would it have been too much to bring some holy water or whatever it is that works here? (So I can get to a +3 bonus.) "Well, I had rather hoped things wouldn't get nasty..." [Tom glances back. "She did say 'if they move'. And that woman doesn't seem to know how to stop moving her lips."] * Michel chuckles faintly, hands still in his pockets. "Yeah. We're the gentlemanly types. Can't you tell?" (Eric should have Optimist as a flaw.) * Melanie shuts her mouth and glares at Tom. [Tom smiles back. "Gimme a reason, doll."] (Lemme know when I get to +3.) (AKA: 3 rounds pass.) ( Uh... I don't think it's cumulative. ) (It says it is, up to +3.) (Same page. Aim is as well.) ( Where? ) (P144, top of the page. 'The bonus for aim and wait for opening are cumulative...' ( Ah ) ( It also says against one opponent, though. ) (Fair enough. I choose Tom.) ( K. ) ( Eric? ) (Probably Rose, assuming Michel and I can work out some covert signals or something) (Covert signals are hard!) (I just picked one.) (Otherwise, whichever is closest.) (... which won't stop Eric from trying!) ( Was Melanie waiting too? ) (Actually, I'll toss on it...one sec.) (Evens...I go for Rose) (Melanie is just angry and not thinking straight.) ( K. ) [Tom lights up a cigarette. "Mind if I smoke?" Doesn't matter if you do, since it's already lit by the time he finishes talking.] * Michel shrugs. "Do we get to?" [There's some more screaming from downstairs.] "As a matter fac--" *cough cough* ["Sure. Go ahead. One more before the grave, eh?"] * Michel takes cigs and a lighter out of his pocket and keeps looking at Tom as he lights up. "Funny comin' from you, since you already been through it, yeah?" [He grins. "It ain't so bad. First night's the hardest."] ( 3 rounds have passed :o ) * Michel exhales smoke through his nose as he puts his hands back in his pocket. "Ya mean hungriest?" (pockets, even.) ["Same thing."] (Alright. Stake from pocket in hand. Here's hoping they're not on the defense.) (Full attack with Aim at the heart. What's the penalty for putting one through a vamp?) (With wait for opening, sorry.) ( Good question ) ( There a section for called shots? ) (P150-151.) If it's purely a 'Vital point' it's a 6 penalty. If it's a 'Weak Point', then it can be 1, 3, or 6.) ((This is why I waited for the opening. @_@) ( -3 ) (Alright. So I'm at +3 and +3, then -3, so here's my attack roll.) ( Y'all should roll init after ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+8) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 18. (Good roll!) (Drawing my hand cannon and rolling to take a shot at Rose.) ( Ugh.... Need more practice with BESM3. I got no clue how to do anything. ) (Should just be 2d6+Melee Defense.) (And if they beat an 18, I don't know what I'll do.) [Michel sneak attacks Tom through the heart. He stares down at Michel in disbelief before turning to dust.] Eric, gimme your roll, then alla ya roll init ( ooc ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+8) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 18. (... also a good roll!) * Michel moves like a cobra! Hiss! As the stake goes through him, he looks into his eyes and says, gruffly, "One last one before the end." (My init.) 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+7) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 13. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. [Eric blasts Rose in the chest. She tumbles backwards off her chair and lands in a crouch, shrieking. "You're dead! DEAD!"] 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+8) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 16. "I *really* hoped things wouldn't get nasty..." [Order is Rose, Melanie, Eric and Michel.] [And Rose immediately darts towards Eric. Gimme a defense agains grabs, Eric.] (If Melanie wants to steal my stake, I won't object!) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 8. * Michel says, to Melanie, as he starts to regard their remaining threat, "You were askin' about the water, left coat pocket!" "Oh...shi--" [Rose grabs Eric by the throat and keeps going, slamming him into the wall with his feet off the ground. She bares her fangs.] [Melanie] * Melanie grabs into Michel's pocket and spins around, flinging the container at Rose. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+5) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 15. [Melanie hits Rose in the back of the head and she shrieks, dropping Eric and covring her head with her hands.] [Eric!] (I can't remember if I brought stakes with me...) ( Me neither, given how long it's been >.> ) (Got me! I was prepped and we said so earlier!) ( Eric probably would be, too, then. ) (kay) (I pull one out and try for the heart then.) ( K, -3 to hit ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 15. (Did you figure in the -3?) (Nope, so that'd be 12) [Eric tries for the heart, but as he's thrusting the stake, Rose bats away his hand. "Oh no you don't. You're not getting away from me!"] [Michel] (I'll come in from the back for the same, full attack.) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. (Now I pray for no extra defenses.) [Unfortunately for Michel, she sees it coming, and backhands him, sending him flying across the room.] [Melanie!] * Michel gets whacked and grunts as he flies across the room, landing on the ground and starting to pick himself back up. "Jesus..." * Melanie moves into a guarding pose and watches Rose carefully. (Full defense.) [Eric!] (Try and evade to get back the stake I guess.) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 4 for a result of 9. (As a note, Brett, since I didn't get to make a defense roll, Full Attack doesn't mean you can't defend, it just puts you at -3 from the get-go.) ( Oh >.> ) (Just like running out of defenses just adds penalties.) (It took me a second to realize.) ( That's not how it used to work D: ) (Yep!) (It's a change.) ( orz ) ( What's Eric trying? ) (It's fine, JSYK.) (Dodging aside to retrieve his stake) ( K. She's not attacking him, though :P ) (I get my stake then?) ( Yeah ) [Uh... Michel!] [Who's jaw is in a lot of pain.] * Michel starts to say, "If you'r--ow..." he frowns and keeps his mouth shut, advancing more cautiously on her (Waiting for Opening! +1.) [Rose isn't waiting though. She sees Eric grab his stake, and attempts to stop him with a punch to the gut. (Gimme a def roll)] 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets 7, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I hate these guys. Give 'em one for me." ( Aiyah. In this game a crit success is a bad thing. XD ) (yep) [That doesn't end well for Eric. Rose's punch is strong enough to knock him off his feet, and he finds himself coughing up blood shortly after.] [Melanie] * Melanie maintains her defense and stands between Rose and the menfolk. (Total defense, again) (She's trying to draw aggro!) ( Problem with that is Eric's on one side of her and Michel's on the other. :X ) [But I digress. Eric!] (Shoot her again because, damn it, that freaking hurt! >:( ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+5) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. (...) [Eric shoots at her, but the blast goes over her shoulder, hitting one of the spotlights above the stage. The dancers shriek and cower together as it falls to the stage.] [Michel!] (We can't really afford to take more hits, so full attack time.) (For the heart and stuff.) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 15. [Rose turns to deal with Eric, and in that instance, Michel rushes in from behind and stabs her. The steak bursts from the front of her chest, showering Eric and Melanie with blood. Eww. But it's not blood for long. It turns to ash with the rest of her.] * Michel stabs her to death with MEAT. Or maybe just a wooden stake. He then says, again, "Ow. Got my jaw." He rubs it with his free hand. "You two okay? We gotta get out of here." ( I've gotta say, one low-powered vampire being able to beat the crap out of you seems about like what I was going for. XD ) (Yeah, I didn't think two would be a good place to be.) * Eric coughs up blood. [The shooting and screaming downstairs stops.] * Michel winces at Eric's coughing, but says, "... now, Doc. C'mon." He heads towards the not-downstairs door. (The office we thought the guy had to be in.) * Melanie scowls at Michel. "Gimme a sec, and see if any of those 'dancers' are hurt." After saying that, she drops to her knees by Eric, starts humming, and puts a hand on his chest. (Healing~) [You head towards the door! It's got one of those windows that's glass, but full of bumps and so murky that you can't actually see inside. The dancers all cower on a corner of the stage, watching you carefully.] * Michel nods slightly at Melanie, not dragging her or anything. [Melanie heals Eric up. Good thing, too, since he likely had internal bleeding.] * Melanie stops her humming as soon as the healing is done and heads over to the dancers, moving slowly. "Hey. If there's a way out, now's the time to go for it." "Er...thank you." ^^; (I continue to the door!) [One manages to find her voice. "The only way out is..." She points at the stairs you came up earlier."] * Eric gets up and nods. Well... stay near us, then. Best thing is, we all make it out. And the worst isn't worth thinking about right now, right? [They nod.] [Michel discovers the door is locked!] (... right.) * Melanie raises her voice and calls out to Michel. "What's taking so long?" * Michel says back, "Locked! Check 'em for keys!" He goes for the lockpicks as he says through the door, "Gutenberg? You wanna unlock the door so we can get out of here?" * Eric raises his blaster at the door. "Stand aside..." -_- [There's no answer!] (... I guess his blaster isn't any louder the third time than the first two.) * Michel glances back over his shoulder and steps back, saying, "I hope to God he's in there." * Eric shoots the lock. [Eric blows a hole through the door.] Check the ash-piles for keys. That's disgusting. Aaand, you blew the door open anyway. (<-- is unhappy.) Oh, second door. Right. * Melanie starts kicking through the ash-piles, looking for keys. * Michel rubs his face and mutters, "Things change quickly." He uses the hole in the door to open it! And maybe look inside a little. [Michel finds an office inside. With no sign of Doctor Who anywhere! Or Doctor Gutenberg either! But gimme an awareness check.] [Melanie finds no keys in the ash, but her shoes get dirty.] (me too?) * Melanie makes a disgusted sound and taps the toes of her shoes on the floor to knock some of the dust off. 2d6+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+4) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 11. (I'm very aware.) [Michel spots an open window.] ( Melanie and Eric, gimme awareness checks, too ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+8) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 15. * Michel quickly moves to the open window, looking out it for a Doctor Gutenberg. Or a rope ladder. Or something! ( Gimme another awareness check, Michel. Or sight. ) 2d6+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+4) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 12. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. (I kan see) [Eric and Melanie hear footsteps, coming up the stairs.] [Michel can see! Thanks to a streetlight across the, erm, street, he can see an old man being pushed into the backseat of a Chevrolet by two other men. Another sight roll, Michel] "Michel! Company!" 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 8. (Ugh.) ( Wow ) * Michel yells back, "Open window here!" Someone grabbed the Doc! [Well, since I'm feeling generous...] [Michel recognizes one of the men. It's Richard Leblanc. He and the other man get in the Chevy, and drive off.] Let's get going then, I think we've outstayed our welcome! (... RICHARD LEBLANC?) (Oh for fuck's sake!) ( RICHARD LEBLANC! ) ( Inorite? It's like there's almost a plot or something. ) (I do love the complexity.) (Everything's connected.,, ^_^) (It's all twisty.) (Is it safe to get out the window? Or is it a hard two story drop?) [There's a dumpster below, which might cushion your fall.] (Or kill us all.) (I should carry rope.) I don't suppose there's a fire escape in that room you're in? (Dumpster, or one angry master vampire/thing that killed angry master vampire...) (I vote dumpster) ( You could search for something to get down easier, but that'd take time. ) * Michel replies, "Open window and a dumpster." He grimaces and climbs through the window. "Good day to be a PI." * Melanie looks to the dancers. "You can stay here or risk the drop. Your choice." She then hurries off to the room and the window. * Eric lets Melanie go first, then follows behind.. [You land in the dumpster! It's a bit of a painful drop, but your pride is probably damaged more.] * Michel climbs out and says, to Eric, "You're not gonna believe who just kidnapped the Doc. Let's get to the car." He rubs his chin again as he lopes that way. (Are the dancers following after us?) [Some of them do.] [And so you get to the car.] [Luckily, you parked just far enough away so that you don't get caught in the blast when the bordello explodes.] (We saved lives!) ( Annnnnd that seems like a good place to end.] ) [End]
