[Day: Friday, May 13th. Time: 8:00 p.m.] [After an hour's drive, you're out in the middle of nowhere. A very nice stretch of nowhere, mind, with the dusk sun rolling across the flat, grassy plains. You're driving up a perfectly paved path lined with bushes towards the only thing immediately visible on the horizon: A bigass wall. And behind it, a bigass mansion.] [There's a bigass iron gate at the end of the path. However. An obstacle appears! Now what?] [Start] [Oh yeah... It's hot. Let's not forget that.] ( Because for once this game isn't set in October, dangit. ) (Ha ha.) [Chances are the A/C doesn't work right in the car, either.] "I don't suppose we can just ring the doorbell..." * Michel drives up to the gate, stopping the car. After a moment he says, "Could try." [There is, in fact, an intercom unit on the side of the gate.] ( Also, gimme awareness checks.] ) ( Sight ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+8) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 13. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 13. 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+7) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 18. [Those who made it notice a bunch of cars inside the gate, behind the fountain. There's two black cars in front of and behind a black limo. The windows are all tinted.] * Michel adds, "Looks busy. I ain't sure we should bother 'em with a lot of questions." [The sun finishes falling below the horizon. Almost immediately, the front doors of the mansion open, and, flanked by a butler and a maid, an older-looking man steps out. (Business rolls!)] (... business?) (What skill is that?) I haven't exactly been quiet about my opinion of this whole thing. (Urban Tracking (Corporate?) [At the same time, the doors of the cars and limo open, and some MiBs step out, wearing shades despite the darkness. Except for one, another older looking man steps out of the back of the limo. The two older guys exchange words and shake hands, and they step inside. The others follow.] ( Sure, that works. ) ( Or Administration ) (So, just a 2d6 for those of us without?) ( Yah ) 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 8. 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 7. 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 15. (Don't forget to add your mind!) ( Yah. :x ) (That's why I asked! My result is 12, then.) [All of you recognize the first man, the one who came out of the mansion: Franklin LeBlanc, business tycoon.] ( Now another roll of the same ilk! ) 2d6+4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+4) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 9. 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 9. 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+6) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 11. [None of you recognize the other man.] I know LeBlanc, but who's the other guy? * Michel looks over at them and shakes his head. "Didn't recognize him." A moment, then, "So. We can wait and hope they got nothin' to hide... or wonder why the hell they waited until sundown and go in ourselves." And get our asses arrested for trespassing? At the best, anyway. * Michel shrugs slightly and says, "Well, the button's right there. We could just call in and say we wanna talk to Miss Leblanc." * Michel pulls off his hand and fans himself a moment. "And then they can say she still don't wanna be disturbed." "And they could just tell us to go away." * Melanie closes her eyes. "I predict the two of you telling me that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." * Michel chuckles slightly and says, "Nah, I figure that we're in real trouble either way, but she did want to see us." "You could stay here?" * Melanie winces and runs a hand through her hair. "Shit, shit. No. I want to see this through. To what is probably going to be a messy end, but whatever." * Michel nods a little and smiles slightly. "Good lass. Alright, then." He heads back to the car and picks up a bag, pulling a set of lock picking tools out of it. "Let's get this open, then." (Sleight of hand: Pickin'!) * Melanie sighs and pulls the end of her chain necklace out from under her shirt - a set of dog tags dangles from the end. Melanie kisses them and tucks them back under her shirt. "Right. Nice set of picks." 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 12. * Michel chuckles and replies, "Yeah, well... you never know when you'll have to just get somethin' done, yeah? I figure that's why I ain't a cop anymore." [Unfortunately for Michel, it looks like the gate is fairly tamper-proof.] (How high is the gate?) ( About 15 ft. ) (So, not a hard climb at all... :\) * Michel mms after a bit of trying, then, "I guess money still buys good locks. Fine." (can I try something with Science!?) ( Go for it ) (Go science!) "I have an idea...can you spare a bullet or two?" * Michel looks over at Eric. "Yeah, but I didn't wanna be noisy. What'cha thinkin, Doc?" "Sprinkle a little gunpowder in the lock, add a slight charge using a spare cell for my blaster, and..." * Eric makes a 'pop' sound. * Michel squints a bit, then shrugs and digs into one of his pockets, pulling out a couple loose rounds. * Eric takes the rounds and gets to work. (What would you need me to test on for this?) ( Probably demolitions. ) (Darn) (Physical Sciences wouldn't work in a pinch?) ( Not unless you don't mind being unable to control the amount of noise it'll make. ) (I'll just have to roll on my mind then I guess...) ( This is, without a doubt, the most formidable opponent to ever appear in a MC game. ) 2d6+6 (I don't have a grappling hook.) * Dicesuke throws the bones for Eric (2d6+6) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. (We need to be quiet is the big problem.) [Fortunately for you, Eric somehow manages to guess the amount of gunpowder to use to pop the lock without making enough noise to be heard from the inside.] * Eric sighs in relief. Hey, good work! "That went better than I'd hoped..." ^^; * Michel slaps Eric on the back and puts his hat back on. "Good one. Alright... let's see if we can slip in the back door." And he starts to sneak around the outside of the place. [It's a big mansion, and takes several seconds to sneak around the side. Annoyingly, the blinds on all of the windows are down.] * Michel sneaks easier because the blinds are down! * Eric frowns, but says nothing, following behind Michel. (Is there a back door?) * Melanie sneaks along as well. Good thing it's grass, 'cause steel-toed boots aren't exactly quiet footwear! [The back of the mansion is pretty dang big. Behind the mansion is a pool. Beyond that, a tennis court, and beyond that, a garden. There's also a koi pond in one corner, of all things. And yes, there's a very big back door. And also a smaller back door on one corner of the building, probably for servants.] (But they're great kicking-wear!) (It's why she has them!) [You're only able to see all this 'cause of the floodlight over the pool, mind.] * Michel points at the side door and heads over that way. * Eric nods and follows behind him. [You get to the side door. Much more plain looking than the other doors, that.] * Michel goes through the door! If it's not locked. [It is. How annoying.] * Eric draws his blaster as they arrive at the door. * Michel goes to unlock this one! Hopefully it's less awesome? ( Go fer it ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+6) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 11. (Oya.) [This door is less awesome. It pops open.] * Michel sneaks through! Hooray! * Eric creeps in behind him. * Melanie sneaks-sneaks. And locks the door from the inside before closing it. [You find yourselves in a store room for food. Yep, an entire room devoted to food supplies. You can see a brightly lit kitchen in a doorless-doorway to the right. And you can ehar a lot of noise coming from there. Sounds like they're cooking up a storm.] [That seems to be the only other exit.] (Only that one exit?) (Okay!) * Michel walks out into the kitchen, then! And says, quickly, to the people in there, "Don't panic. We're lookin' for Miss Leblanc." * Eric facepalms with the hand not holding his gun. -_-; [The people, who are two black chefs, nearly do panic. One clutches a butcher knife he was just using. "Who are you? This part of the mansion is only for the servants!"] (I have no other options!) * Michel repeats, steadily, "Look, Miss Leblanc hired us to help her." So that's what we're here to do. Okay? [They glance at each other. The other chef says, "You're not one of them?"] 'Them?' ["The..." he starts to say something, then stops. "Look, man. You really shouldn't be here. If they find out you're here..."] * Melanie looks up and whispers to Eric, "Is this actually -working-? You've got to be shitting me." (BEING REASONABLE IS AWESOME.) (I AM MICHEL CHAFFEE, REASONABLE MAN.) * Eric shrugs in disbelief. [The other one nudges him, and says. "Look, the boss is entertaining some very important guys from a Jap company. He absolutely don't wanna be disturbed, so you gotta go."] (Running in and shouting, "HELP US WE ARE WHITE HATS OKAY?" never really struck me as reasonable!) (It's the only option, like I said!) * Michel shakes his head and says, "No, look. I don't wanna disturb him. We just need to check on Miss Leblanc." ["You don't get it, man! You're in danger just by standin' there!"] ["Yeah, and if they come in and find us talkin' to you..."] Then tell us and we'll get out of your hair. [They glance at each other, then one says, "She was locked in her room last I heard."] * Michel nods slightly and says, "Point me the way, then. She upstairs?" [The other says, "Wait, I heard one of the Jap-co guys was going to see her?"] [He shrugs. "Yeah, her room's up there. But man, you ain't never gonna get there."] What, there ain't servant stairs or nothin'? ["Nah, man. Just the grand staircase out front. And the boss has people watchin to make sure she stays there."] [He licks his lips nervously, and adds, "They ain't natural, bro."] * Michel pinches the bridge of his nose. "Dammit." A moment, then, "What window's her room?" * Eric frowns and looks at Mel worriedly, "Window?" Means he's gonna make us climb if he can. [The other one nods. "Maybel tol' me she was watchin' when they got here, those Jap-co guys? They pulled in here 'round seven, then they sit in their cars til the minnit the sun goes down, then all hop out at once."] -__- ["Oh, uh... You go out that door you came in, it's the second on the right of the backdoors."] * Michel nods and says, "Yeah... I think I got the picture. Alright, thanks. You stay safe, ya hear?" He heads right back out the door. (This is going to be the best thing ever.) * Melanie follows. "Stakes and holy water, if you please. Crosses work?" ["Yeah... And you get caught, you don't say we told you nothin', aight? If you do..." He gestures with the butcher knife, but the other one laughs. "Nah, man. They get caught, there ain't gonna be anythin' left to stick that knife in."] (This is going to hurt.) * Eric heads out after Michel. * Michel nods slightly. "You run back and get the extras from the car. We'll need 'em." He looks over at Eric. "We're gonna take down a tennis net and use it to climb up." [You head back outside.] Even you can climb a net. On it, boss. ( Wow. That's some thinking :o ) * Melanie sneakily runs back to the car for supplies. (I wanted a rope, but 'garden' 'pool' and 'tennis' didn't give me that. But it did give me a net!) * Eric nods hesitantly. * Michel heads over to the tennis courts to do what he just said! Awesome. And hopefully they can rejoin at the window with all the stuff. * Melanie comes back with as much vampire-killing stuff as she can carry. ( Not til you make a sports roll to remove the tennis net! ) (Not sports noooo) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Michel (2d6+5) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. [Michel fails to remove the net. Eric has to do it for him.] ( Kiddin' :P ) [Michel gets the net, and you all meet back by the pool.] (Is there anything to hook it on? Or are we gonna have to throw stones at her door?) (s/door/window) ( Hmm... There's a very small sill that probably won't work without a grapnel, and a raingutter that probably won't support your weight.] ) (Is there anything around to make an improvised grapnel out of?) ( Not that I can think of. ) (If I got a very good running start, could I run up and jump for the sill?) ( Tennis rackets, an innertube, lawnchairs... ) (Run up the wall, that is.) ( It's much too high, unless you've got jumping. ) (Meh) ( Actually, I'll let you try it with an acro roll. ) (No, this is the first time I've ditched acro.) (I'll give it a shot straight out, though. And Mel runs pretty fast.) (Ha.) (Go team!) ( K. ) (Want a hand boost?) (Sure) * Melanie looks sort of nervous and jumps in palce slightly. "...Okay. Someone stand by the wall and be ready to give me a hand up, and I'll try to run up to the sill." ( Take a +2 bonus for the boost ) (Thanks!) * Melanie paces backwards from the wall and waits for someone else to get into position. * Michel moves up near the wall, cupping his hands. "Alright... I'll get you, girl." * Michel then winces and says, apologetically, "Melanie. Sorry." Bad habits don't die easy. * Melanie takes a deep breath, leans forward on one foot for a moment, then shoots off running toward Michel and the wall. 2d6+2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+2) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 11. (..Plus six for body) (Plus body!) (I keep forgetting!) (It's a 17!) [Well, that's a make, surprisingly enough. Melanie manages to get high enough to grab onto the window sill. ........ Now what?] * Melanie pulls one arm up onto the sill so that her forearm is bracing her, keeps her feet against the wall, and reaches out her other hand. "Toss me the net, NOW." * Michel backs away from the wall and nods. "Right." He grabs the net, tossing it up at her. ( Melanie gimme a body roll to catch it ) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+6) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. [Melanie easily catches the net.] * Melanie snatches at it and pulls it up and over the sill, then puts her feet into the holes to make sure it holds. ( Good question. I'm not sure how strong a tennis net is. ) (I'm pretty sure we can find out how strong a modern one is, but I don't know about one from the sixties.) d100 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Brett (d100) and gets a natural 66 for a result of 66. [It seems to hold Melanie.] * Melanie sighs and pulls herself up far enough to look into the room. [Melanie sees a really classy bedroom, but nobody's in it. The door is wide open. And gimme a hearing roll, just Mel] 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+6) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. * Melanie scrambles up, trying to open the window. "Fuck, somebody's screaming." [It's jammed!] (No jam can hold up to Melanie's boots!) [This one can, given she can't really kick it] * Melanie yanks her laces untied, pulls of her boot, and slams it into thw dinwo. (*the window) ( That works. Gimme a body roll.] ) (Nice!) 2d6+6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Melanie (2d6+6) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 14. [Melanie easily breaks the window!] * Melanie brushes aside the edges of the glass with her boot and hurries in. [Which may or may not be a good thing, as two of the previously seen MiBs suddenly appear in the doorway, guns aimed at her. "Freeze!"] [Annnnnnnnnnnnnd.... I'm gonna end.]
