[You head out a short corridor along with non-talking Phillip and kinda grumbly Louis, who grumbles, "Great, I get to fight with a bunch of noobs."] * Yuki whispers to Phillip. "Are you, um, good at fighting?" (Wrong character.) (Yoshiko said that.) * Billie addresses Louis: "That just makes them easy pickings for you, right? I won't get in your way." [Phillip says calmly, "I grew up learning the art of peace." When Louis snorts, he adds, "When all your enemies lie defeated before you, it is very peaceful indeed."] [Louis nods at Billie. "Good. More points for me."] * Yoshiko giggles. "Okay. Just... don't kill Billie please." [He responds, "I use only the necessary force."] * Yoshiko smiles. "Thank you." [Anyway, you enter the arena, a caged area about 40 ft. in diameter, 20 ft. tall. There's no obstacles.] [Beyond the cage are bleachers full of people, all cheering.] [You approach the center, where a referee bot, a little floating ball on an inverted pyramid, waits.] * Billie looks up at the cheering people and wonders if flipping them off is officially against rules. * Yoshiko glances around and gives a wink to the crowd, then turns her attention to her opponents, ready for the match to start. [The pyramid beeps. "Match rules: Attacking tourists will result in immediate suppression and death penalty. First team to have all its members unconscious loses.] [tiny boxes in the arena floor glow, two red, two blue. The bot says, "Take positions." Louis takes a blue one, Phillip a red. ] * Billie steps into the other blue square, thus prepping for a game of four square. Yoshiko to serve. * Yoshiko takes a red one and takes her position. * Billie is clearly tense, clenching and uncleaning her fists. A faint waft of smoke swirls around her, but she seems to have it more or less under control. [The bot floats up to the top of the cage, and beeps. "3... 2... 1..."] [Roll init :D] 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Billie (2d6+5) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+5) and gets 7, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I love the smell of a crit in the morning." (Time to put my combat sheet to use!) (Boo!) (DR1) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+5) and gets a natural 6 for a result of 11. (Oh, I should roll init too.) 2d6+3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yuki (2d6+3) and gets a natural 5 for a result of 8. ( mmm... ) ( Sorry, lots to look over here. ) ( What was Yoshiko just rolling before init? ) (Yuki's just gonna sit at the top init when her time comes and wait until she needs to act, so you don't need to worry about it.) Yoshiko's init is 11.) ( (I DRed my init.) (And Yuki's init actually doesn't matter 'cuz she's not going to act until I need her to.) [Order: Louis, Phillip, Billie, Yoshiko.] [The bot shines a green light briefly, beeping, "Go!" And just like that, Louis is gone with a "See ya."] * Billie blinks. "Wait, what?" She looks around. [Followed by an arrow. Yoshiko, gimme a ranged defense roll and an awareness (sight) roll] ( Oh, Billie gimme awareness (sight) too ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Billie (2d6+8) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 19. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+5) and gets 7, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "A WINNER IS YOU!" (...) (How much luck would it require to turn that into a success?) (so awesome) ( Uh... ) 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+8) and gets 20, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "I hate being random." (There's my avoidance. Which... well, I guess I'm dodging.) ( I'm saying 10 DP. You're pretty much asking for an auto-success on a failed roll, so it's going to be costly. ) (...) (Well, okay, I'll just DR it then.) (Welp, that's not worth it.) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+5) and gets a natural 4 for a result of 9. [Yoshiko dodges the arrow! But she has no idea where it came from. Nor does Phillip, apparently, as he falls into a defensive posture for the moment.] [Billie!] (Aspect manipulation.) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Billie (2d6+5) and gets a natural 9 for a result of 14. (Undetectable, natch. That a hit?) ( Yep ) ( Yoshiko, gimme another awareness check ) 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+5) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 12. * Billie backs away from the pair and towards the bars, her empty hands up. As she does so, someone's shadow lengthens and darkens, and it's not hers, Yoshiko's, or Phillip's. [This time Yoshiko spots something on the ground: a humanoid shadow, cast by apparently nothing.] [And it's her turn, so.] * Yoshiko smirks and arcs her hands forward, firing a series of lasers in the shadow's direction. 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+7) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 15. [And apparently she hits twice since blood comes from nowhere. A disembodied voice says, "Gahh! How...?"] [And then another arrow comes for Yoshiko. Def roll yo.] 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+8) and gets 20, a CRITICAL FAILURE!!! "The gods giveth, and the gods taketh away. This time, they taketh away." (Yay!) (Nice!) [Yoshiko totally dodges. Fer sure.] (Use focused movement to avoid bullets!) [Then Phillip rushes forward. "Fool! A smarter man uses his ears as well as his eyes!" More blood flies as he slashes the air.] [Billie!] 'kay, you're all more badass than me... ( He's Chinese, so of course he knows kung fu ) * Billie backs up even more, and she seems to disappear into the shadows behind her. (There's another point of aspect, and my turn, because I am not the combat.) [Yoshiko] * Yoshiko looks to the shadow, and fires more lasers! 2d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+8) and gets a natural 7 for a result of 15. [Louis is hit by a bunch of lasers, reappearing as he falls backwards.] [Phillip grins. "Nice work! Only one left to go." He glances from side to side. "Where is she?"] Hmmm. * Billie is totally hidden! * Yoshiko concentrates, then points her finger skyward and a HUGE pyrotechnic explosion appears about 15 feet above her. It doesn't give off any heat, but it gives off a lot of light and sound... maybe enough to show her? Does that help? ( That's a good question. ._. ) ( The GM is now confused :X ) (I just did a short, one-round use of Environmental Influence: Light and Sound.) (To make a small lightshow.) ( Yah. Just somehow I never forsaw this type of situation. ) ( I dunno what to do ._. ) (Um... pick something? ^^;) [The light show lights up the whole place, revealing Billie's hiding spot.] (Shadow vs light, who will win?!) (Apparently light.) * Yoshiko points. "There!" [Phillip points, "There!" And rushes for her. Oh noes!] * Billie appears for a second or two, crouched beneath what was once the substantive shadow of a pole. "Aw, fucker!" she yells as Phillip runs for her. [Billie, gimme a melee defense roll against being kicked.] 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Billie (2d6+7) and gets a natural 11 for a result of 18. * Yoshiko runs over and her hands light up again, ready to deliver a blow to knock her out. (AHAHAHA) ( It's a specialization, you know? Strikes, grabs, holds, getting kicked... ) [Billie avoids the attack!] [Billie's turn] (Haha.) (I specialize in groinkicks.) ( Oh, so you based your character off of one of JesseLman's ideas? ) (Actually, not really. It wouldn't be very effective where she's from. All the fighters are girls!) * Billie somehow rolls to one side and actually attempts a grab and pull at Phillip's leg so she can knock him off balance - everyone's going down with her! 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Billie (2d6+7) and gets a natural 8 for a result of 15. [And surprisingly enough, she succeeds, knocking him down.] [Yoshiko.] * Yoshiko runs over and point-blanks a lazer at Billie, intending to disable. 2d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Yoshiko (2d6+7) and gets a natural 10 for a result of 17. 2d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Billie (2d6+5) and gets a natural 3 for a result of 8. ( Ouch ) (You could take out an eye with that thing!) [Well... Suffice it to say, Billie is hit with a point blank lazer and is knocked right off her feet. She's out.]] (I could! But I won't! Not intentionally, anyways. :o ) * Billie makes a pretty picture, all orange and pink on the arena floor. [The bot beeps. "Winner: Red team! Reward: Phillip Chang, 700 points. Marissa.... (What's your last name? :X) (Hayashi) [Marissa Hayashi, 1600 points.] [The crowd cheers as some guards come out. Two of them take Louis and Billie away, and the others herd Yoshiko and Phillip back to the lockers.] * Yoshiko bows to Phillip and smiles. "Thank you." [He smiles back. "Nice work."] [You return!] (Back to the MC2 chan?) ( MCDC, but yeah :P)
