[Meanwhile, Billie and Sun are hanging out near a dumpster in an alley. Sun's hungry. No, I have no idea what to do with this channel.] [Start] [It's about 9:30 p.m.] * Billie is on her motorcycle! She looks back to see if Sun's going to get on. [Sun doesn't just to be stubborn!] [No, she actually does.] * Billie starts her cycle and rides, heading for out of the city. ~Keep an eye out for a vending machine or whatever.~ [They actually come across one soon, near the front door of an all-night gas station. ] * Billie pulls up and idles in front of the vending machine, waving for Sun to have at it. [Sun looks over the choices, probably unable to tell what anything is, before picking one seemingly at random. It winds up being OMGWTFBBQ flavor Fritos. She gets some water from a nearby Pepsi machine too.] [Then looks inside the station and freezes. ~We're on TV.~] ~Don't panic. Just buy stuff like normal.~ She glances up into the window, though, now that Sun mentioned it. ( Gimme an awareness check] ) (15) [Billie looks inside and sees a guy behind the counter watching a small TV. Sure enough, Billie's and Sun's pictures are there in a special news report. But more importantly, she also hears a car pull up into the gas station.] ( And even more importantly, I'm pretty dumb. ) ( At 9:30 Hoboken is probably packed with commuter traffic. ) (Are you sure? Because that's a pretty late rush hour.) ~How can my picture even be up there? Didn't I disappear or something? I thought I killed everyone who saw...~ * Billie lets out a small sigh and looks to Sun. ~Ready to go?~ [Sun nods. ~It must have been a camera.~ She blinks as a man gets out of the car and starts walking towards the gas station. ~Oh god, we've got to go right now!~] ~Don't freak out. Suspicious people get suspicious looks, and freaking out makes you suspicious. But you're going to need another name. Got one in mind?~ * Billie starts driving off once Sun's back on her cycle, skirting around the lot to a) avoid staring and b) not run over the guy. She signals and turns back onto the road. [~Another name?~] ~Yeah. Something people can call you that's not Sun.~ [~I don't know... Jae?~] ~Jae works. I'll try to remember that.~ * Billie smiles a little. ~You can use Chie for me. That's my middle name anyway.~ ~Okay.~ ~Sorry you can't eat on a cycle. I tried making a van earlier, but it didn't work out so well.~ [~It's okay.~] ~Yeah...~ * Billie drives, weaving through traffic a bit (because she's on a cycle and she can do that), and thinks. ~I'm not... I have no idea how to get you to Germany. I'm hoping that once the others free that deva, he'll have some idea.~ [They approach the exit out of town! .... Only to find it blocked by police cars.] * Billie sighs again. ~Why does this always have to be so *hard*? And how much police does this damn city have, anyway! Are they drafting now?~ She turns abruptly, heading down a side street. [~It's a large city. There's more police here than anywhere else in the world~] ~There's more anything than anywhere else in the world. There should be more hiding places, too.~ * Billie keeps driving, looking for what's a bad or worse part of town. Maybe she can find an abandoned place to hole up in for a while. [Billie finds the ghetto! Sun looks around wide-eyed. ~Uh... Do we really want to be here?~] ~See as much police here?~ [~No, but there's things here besides the police!~] * Billie keeps an eye out for an unoccupied abandoned building (as opposed to an occupied one). ~Don't tell me it's worse than where we came from.~ [Billie sees a house that's all boarded up. That means abandoned, right?] [Sun shudders. ~No.... No I'd rather face potential rape and murder than go back.~] ~And it's not going to happen. I won't let it.~ [Sun nods. ~If... If they do catch us again... Can you kill me? Before they take us?~] * Billie drives her bike to the behind the house and parks it there. She gets off of it, going to the back door and trying to open it. [The door is locked!] ~Gonna open this from the inside.~ * Billie glances around to make sure nobody but Sun is watching, and assuming they aren't (why would they be?) she transforms to M form and teleports into the house. [Billy gets inside and gimme a soul roll!] (14) [Billie immediately detects the powerful stench of opium. This house may not be so abandoned after all.] (I actually, uh, have no sense of smell in M form.) (I could, however, see traces that the place isn't abandoned - I have darkvision.) ( K, good enough :P ) * Billie glances around, then teleports back out and shifts into her human self, with a scowl on her face. ~Druggie crash site.~ [Sun frowns. ~Probably a dozen in a place like this.~] * Billie snerks. ~More than that. Nazis make lives miserable, you know.~ She gets back on her bike. [Sun does, too. ~I know.~] * Billie glances back. ~Sorry. I guess that joke's kind of tasteless, but.~ She starts driving again, on the lookout. [Billie sees several houses that may or may not be full of potheads.] * Billie goes in close to one and tries to look inside! By the boards, rather. [Billie eventaully finds a burnt out apartment building. It's completely empty and missing the back wall, but at least there's no vagrants.] (I assume there are other walls, though, as in we could take one of the front apartments.) ( Either way it's shelter. ) (Yup.) * Billie drives over and parks in the solid shadow of the building. ~This is gonna be kind of drafty, but at least it's so busted that even the users and dealers are steering clear.~ [Sun nods. ~I guess that's a good thing~] * Billie smiles at the younger girl. ~For us, it is.~ She gets off her bike and holds her hand out for Sun. [Sun gets off too! I really don't know what to do at this point! D:] * Billie waves her hand and dismisses the bike - it literally dissolves - and then heads for the easiest way into the building! Which is probably the back end, given that the wall's burnt out. She goes through apartments with Sun until she finds a relatively decent one (as in, the walls are intact), and works on settling in as best she can. * Billie does try to see if the lights work and if there's running water. [lol no.] [There's no running water and no lightbulbs, let alone power.] [There's also no furniture. [There's a few piles of rubble here and there, that's it.] [Sun looks around. ~Home sweet home~.] ( Gimme a sigh check ) ( Or even a sight check ) (14. My sight checks are good!) [Billie spies something dart through the shadows.] (Something? Like a rodent or like a person?) ( No idea! :D ) * Billie turns and moves, reaching out to catch whatever it is. [Billie grabs a rat. It squeaks in her hand. And Sun shrieks.] * Billie moves her fingers so the rat can't bite her, hopefully. "Hey, little squeaky dude," she says to the rat. "Do me a favor and don't freak out Jae, okay?" And she opens the door to the main hallway, setting the rat down to scurry off and do whatever ratty things it does. [It runs off to warn its compadres that they're being invaded.] [Sun blanches meanwhile. "Oh, gross. I think I'm going to be sick."] * Billie closes the door after the rat and turns to Sun. "Aw, don't get sick." ["I can't believe you touched it!] I didn't know what it was! * Billie looks down at her hands, then wipes them on her jeans. "Besides, I had mice when I was a kid." Not rats, but still. They're cute. [Sun blinks. "Really?"] * Billie smiles. "Yeah. You ever have any pets?" She looks around, then concentrates, creating an electric lamp which she flicks on and sets down. Now there's some small light in the room. * Billie also sits, near the lamp, and leans against the wall. ["I had a cat. Jin was his name."] ( Actually ) ( Unless it's a battery operated lamp, it doesn't turn on :P ) (It is, because how else would it work?) ( Hand crank? ) (Hahaha XD) * Billie grins a little. "Your pet beats my pets. Cats eat mice." [Sun laughs.] * Billie waves for Sun to sit down. "You should eat. You finally can." [Sun does so. "I'm so hungry."] [She wolfs down a bag a Fritos, pausing long enough to say, "Thank you. For getting me out of there."] * Billie nods, finally closing her eyes but trying to listen for anything coming. "You're welcome." [Billie hears a couple squeaks here and there.] * Billie opens her eyes briefly at the occasional squeak. "No," she says. "No Fritos for you. Don't make me kick all of you out." [Sun shudders. "Ew."] * Billie pats Sun on the arm comfortingly. ( Think we can end in here ) (Sounds good.) [End]
