[A slight retcon, I guess, but something I decided: all of the offices you were rooting around in had windows through which some light was coming from the night sky. That accounts for the level of visibility you had in there, when the emergency lights in that hall were out.] [Terry, and Eui are in the lounge. Theo just opened the door to the room with the cat scan.] [Miya is looking into the cells.] [Terry just found a police report. Eui was looking at an autopsy report in Korean.] [Resume!] * Eui-Tae blinks. "Hey. Did anyone check the drawers in those desks?" * Miya is creeping into the hallway they first came from. She starts looking into the cells. [Miya sees many mattresses. And white walls. And unused slippers.] * Theodore looks at the cat scan. "What is this?" * Terry stands up with the police report in hands. "Guys? We've, like, gotta problem an stuff." * Theodore calls back. "Details please." Uh, crazy dude who killed his neighbors for being aliens? That's kinda bad, ya'know? That is really bad. * Miya sees beds and slippers! She creeps all the way to the end of the hall, taking a look in the janitor's closet. [Miya sees what Theodore saw. Except the mop, which Theodore removed.] * Miya returns, and on the way back, opens the other door. Dun dun dun. * Theodore calls back. "That fits with him killing both guards." He doesn't seem more worried by this new information. S'names Derrick Manchester. * Eui-Tae blinks and swears in Korean. * Terry looks at Eui-Tae. "Dude, you know this dude?" * Eui-Tae shakes his head and puts his finger to his lips to be quiet, speaking softly shortly afterwards. "I just heard gunfire from downstairs." * Theodore walks quickly to the room. "Quiet down a bit, I think I just heard a pistol." He's a bit pale, but trying to act calm. * Terry acks and then nods. * Miya starts and looks around from where she is, then forces herself to calm down and opens the door. She peeks in. [Miya is in a ten by ten room, with two other doors, on each of the non-facing walls.] [There is what looks like a dentist's chair in the center of the room, though with leather restraining straps.] [There is also a bed in one corner of the room, with one of those heart monitor machines set up next to it.] [There is also an IV drip set-up.] [And a floor to ceiling cabinet along one wall.] [The room is lit with emergency red lighting.] * Theodore speaks quietly. "If he comes back this way, I'll try to distract him. Your first priority should be escape, if he's good with the pistol and particularly athletic, ganging up on him won't do much good." * Terry nods again and speaks in the same sort of voice. "Kay." * Theodore tries to remember if he's seen anything metal that could be used for portable cover in his searching. [Theo remembers: a metal bucket in the janitor's closet, a small coffee table in office three that looked to be made of thick wood but small enough to carry, and a metal tray in office seven.] * Miya blinks at the inside of this room, then walks in slowly. She puts a hand on the chair before pulling it away and looking around. * Miya approaches the cabinet! She tries to open it. [Miya finds the cabinet is locked.] * Miya frowns a little. [The cabinet is metal.] * Miya looks around for anything she can use as a makeshift lockpick. Hey, maybe an IV drip needle! Can that even work? She'll find out, darnit. * Miya tries removing the needle from the drip and using that. [Miya breaks the IV needle but the cabinet clicks open.] * Miya eyes the broken needle then shrugs and tosses it on the floor. Bad Miya! * Miya pulls open the doors. [Miya finds inside: some hanging medical gowns, hats, and masks, a portable defibrillator unit, some machines she probably can't identify, and many bottles and vials of liquids and pills, all carefully labelled. There are also some metal surgical implements, tongs and scalpels.] * Miya peers at those things. "Um. Wow." * Eui-Tae hmms, then starts to quietly go through the offices previously investigated, checking various drawers. * Theodore tries to move quietly to grab the tray from office 7. He then goes to stand by the stairs and listen for the moment. He grumbles to himself as he does so "I feel like a blasted barbarian," but he seems comforted by his shield. [Theo hears nothing but the children and the beating of his own heart.] * Terry goes back to looking through the clippings for more on the other loony killer. [Terry doesn't find anything else, but then, that's only a pile of twenty-five or so items from the massive piles on the desk in office two.] * Miya takes a step back, then goes about opening the unopened door closest to the cabinet. [Miya is opening the door toward the janitorial closet, not toward the main lounge. She finds a large washroom, with a shower. It looks more like a public shower, not a private one. There's also a urinal and a toilet and two sinks. And a towel rack.] * Miya tries to check in cabinets. Sometimes people leave interesting things in cabinets. Like toilet paper, Febreeze, and flashlights. [Miya finds toothbrushes, a comb, a brush, toothpaste and an empty plastic glass and a box of Qtips.] * Miya pulls out the toothbrush and toothpaste, idly wonders *why* someone would just keep that stuff where they work, and then puts them back. * Eui-Tae keeps going through the offices previously visited to look through the cabinets and drawers. "The good stuff is always in the drawers..." ( Walkman office.) [Eui finds office supplies and a notepad full of incomprehensible equations.] [Eui also finds a Snickers bar. It really satisfied.] [Eui's equations have something to do with brain chemistry, as probably can be guessed by now. But he notices that there seem to be two sets of equations, designed to have opposite effects.] Um, hmmm. * Terry throws the papers down and decides to go looking for Miya. * Theodore puts the tray under his mop holding arms and goes to unlock the door opposite the 'Exam room.' [Theo finds an office with a desktop computer on the desk. It looks much tidier than any to date. There are no books. There is a filing cabinet, and some tasteful artwork on the walls.] [Theo also spots a piece of paper in the Inbox on the desk.] [The door Theo opened had "Department Chief" on the door, under the name "Fenton P. Beauregard".] * Theodore walks in and picks up the piece of paper to glance at it in the limited light. He then pauses for a moment to look at the computer and is confused for a moment before commenting. "Oh, another television." He then stares at the keyboard. * Theodore pokes at the keyboard. Pauses a few moments and then pokes some more. He then shrugs. "Must be broken like the rest of the stuff." * Terry walks into the room with the dentist chair in it. "Hey Miya? Oh, whatcha got?" Um, I found some stuff in the cabinet. I don't know what it is. And, um, toothbrushes and Q-tips. * Miya goes to look in the door closer to the main lounge, passing Terry as she does so. What's it look like 'n stuff? * Miya pushes open the door if possible. "Bottles and medicine, I think. You can see." [Miya's door is locked.] * Terry goes to look at the bottles. * Eui-Tae goes to another office to check drawers, going to the one with the chalkboard to rummage through the drawers. [Eui finds more office supplies and a crumpled up piece of paper that seems to have been shoved into the desk quickly.] * Eui-Tae uncrumples papers to try and figure out what they were trying to do! * Miya frowns. She looks around and sees that there's no more lockpick. [The door Miya faces is made of wood.] * Miya knocks on the wood to find out how strong it is. [Miya thinks she could bash through the door if she had some sort of battering ram, but not just on pure muscle.] (Miya: Hey, Theo, could you come over here for a second?..) * Theodore then goes to open up the filing cabinets. [Theodore opens the cabinet to find accounting records.] * Theodore grins and grabs as many as he can carry with the loose paper in his free hand. "Let's find out who is funding this place." He then carries the papers back to the lounge. [Is Theo still carrying that paper from the Inbox?) (Yes) * Theodore glances around the empty room. He then shrugs, put down his "weapons" and reads the loose paper he found in the inbox. [The paper in the Inbox is printed on paper with the header, "Susannah Grenville, M.D." That name matches the plate on the empty office five.] * Theodore keeps reading. [The paper reads, "Since you all continue to ignore my protests that we have no real clue what the subjects' reaction will be to awakening to an unfamiliar reality, I am forced to resign. This project has become dangerous and unethical, in my opinion, and I cannot continue to participate. I have already cleaned out my office. -S."] * Miya drops her hand. "Um, we need someone to open this. Or something to help break it." * Terry thinks about that. "Like some of the office furniture?" [Miya realizes that, with a good running start and her Kung Fu powers, that door is toast.] * Miya nods. "Or..." She knocks on the door again. "Um, actually. I can try breaking it." Only I can't really run, I don't think. Can you help? * Terry blinks at Miya. "I guess so, but, like, aren't your powers not working an' stuff?" Um, yeah. It's just that this isn't a power. I mean, um... I'm better with my powers, but... can I hold onto you? * Terry gives up on the cabinet. "Sure. You just want me to run with you or start you or what?" * Terry walks over to Miya and glances over at the wooden door. Support me? Kay. * Miya turns and grabs Terry's arm with her right hand. "Okay, ready?" Jus gotta run at the door 's fast as I can right? Wish had my 'tech, but I'm ready as I get. Huh? Uh... no. * Eui-Tae takes a bunch of the papers to the lounge, where there's a bit more lighting, and uncrumples them, trying to make sense of what they're throwing away or trying to hide. [Eui's crumpled paper reads, "Jenkins, you'll find out tomorrow that your mnemonic component theory is crap. I'm still saying full success, across the board." There is a smiley face as a signature.] * Theodore smiles. "One mark in the 'not crazy' column." He then skims through the accounting files, trying to get an idea how this place makes money. [Theodore first reads the payroll.] [Theo spots the seven scientists and one administrator drawing handsome salaries, as well as two apparent receptionists.] (I should have named all these people as I went. *sigh*) (Theo want details on that, or to check something else?) (It's okay, don't need names.) (Revenue sources.) [Theo finds there are four main sources of revenue: The University of Delaware, the Washington Institute For Neural Research, the Federal Government, and periodic payments labelled "Private Contribution", always followed by initials. The initials M.G. are most common and accompany sizable donations.] [To clarify: different initials, though some reoccur.] * Theodore eyes narrow at the initials. * Miya steps back a ways, takes a breath, and makes a few quick steps, nearly stumbling but latching onto Terry with a vice-like grip. When she's half an arm's length away from him she lets go as she jumps, her left foot aimed for the door. [The door shatters into two pieces. The top one hangs on the upper hinge, above the lock, swinging open. The bottom half stays in place, on one hinge and locked in.] (I assume that's audible throughout the immediate area) [Yes.] * Terry stumbles back a bit, but keeps his feet. "That was awesome!" * Miya yelps, going straight through the top one, getting one foot caught on the lower one, and falling into the room. Smooth! [Miya has landed in a chemical laboratory with two main tables. There are bunsen burners, test tubes, vials and even plastic barrels of liquids labelled with formulae, a couple of centrifuges, and one of those old complicated things that chemicals pass through with twirly straw sort of tubing.] * Theodore grabs his tray and mop and rushes towards the direction of the crash. * Eui-Tae grabs his Windex and bag of medical stuffs and runs to where the crashing was! * Terry runs over to the door and Miya. "Ack! You 'kay?" * Miya climbs up and looks back out, rubbing at the back of her head. "Um, yes." I just... um, didn't adjust? What are you *doing*? * Theodore heads into the dental room looking around fervently. * Miya blushes and looks away. "Opening a door?" We kinda needed to get the door open so we could see what was on the other side 'n stuff. So we did. * Theodore blinks and speaks in a rather reprimanding tone. "I have keys, you know." ... * Eui-Tae looks at the shattered door. Cool. ... But you weren't here. And neither is the killer. I'd prefer to keep it that way. * Miya mumbles, "Okay." She shuts up and looks in the room. Dood! Why didn't you say so? * Theodore stares at Terry. "Did you not see me unlocking all those doors?" No, I was always behind you. Kinda figured they weren't locked 'n' stuff. * Theodore looks like he'd be following up with Terry and then sighs. "I got them off the guard in the hall." He glances to Eui-Tae. "Want me to check the other guard to see if I can get you a set?" He's still in the building, you know. But... I think you got lucky. I could have sworn I heard a gunshot right after your impact. Sure? * Eui-Tae nods. "I'm going to finish checking the rooms first; I'll be up there. I want to know *exactly* what these people are doing, and I'm getting an idea." There's... stuff in the cabinet? * Eui-Tae heads off to the desktop room! [Eui finds the room much like it was left by Theo.] And- and this place looks like something Hank would hang out in. * Theodore glances at the cabinet. "Scalpels. If you know how to handle a knife they may be worth taking. If you don't, probably too risky." * Miya doesn't say anything. Or look at Theodore. She just walks in and tries to make sense of this crazy room she opened, not that she likely can. * Eui-Tae rummages through the drawers for cards, papers, money... anything that might look useful or valuable. [Eui finds three quarters and a nickel. And a box of Kleenex. And the guy's drawer of office supplies is anal retentively neat. The pens are held together in an elastic band!] * Eui-Tae tries turning the computer on. Failing that, he checks for any disks, CDs, memory sticks, DVDs, or whatever sort of media storage may be available in the room. [Eui can't turn the computer on. He does find a box of floppy disks. They are all labelled with printed labels, and seem to be electronic copies of the financial records.] * Theodore then looks over the door. He looks impressed. * Terry walks to Theo and the door. "Ya gonna unlock that?" * Theodore unlocks the door. [Theo unlocks the *half* door.] * Miya brushes splinters off of herself and turns to leave Theo to his looking. "I, um. I'm gonna go... look somewhere else. I'll... I'll let you know if something's locked." * Theodore comments as he opens the door. "Bit of good news. I found a note where a doctor resigned in protest because of the unpredictability involved of patients waking up in a world they're unfamiliar with. Seems to support the idea that we aren't simply insane." * Miya sighs. "Okay." She doesn't sound like it much matters to her one way or the other, and she brushes by him to leave. So, like, they were tryin' to do this? And uh.... Like I'll get back to ya inna bit kay? * Theodore looks to Miya. "What's wrong? This seems to not be your world. Whatever happened at that train station doesn't seem to reflect on you." Nothing's wrong. You should, um. Look at stuff. I don't know what it does, but I'm not smart. * Miya is out of there, making her way back down the hall to the lounge. * Theodore follows Miya. "At least do me the favor of lying credibly." * Terry glances at the lab full of stuff he's only seen in movies and shrugs and follows the other two out. * Eui-Tae takes the diskettes, assuming there aren't many, and puts 'em in his sack, then heads to the CAT scan room. [The cat scan room has just got that big cat scan machine thing in it, and one plastic chair beside the machine.] * Eui-Tae looks closer for any loose papers or a waste bin in the room. [Eui finds no loose papers. The waste bin contains three empty Styrofoam cups.] Gaaah. * Eui-Tae walks out of the Cat Scan room and to the lounge. * Miya actually glares up at Theo and snaps, "I'm *not* smart!" And then she looks away. "I made a lotta noise. You should look in the room, 'cause if you don't, there's no point." * Terry speaks from behind Theo. "Hey, 's not like we knew he had the keys, and if I was that crazy guy I'd totally be trying to get out of here as fast as I could n' stuff. Not worry 'bout things way 'bove me, right?" * Theodore looks to Miya. "He's wrong. You did make a mistake. But it happens to the best of us, particularly at a young age and under a lot of stress. The point is you owned up to it. And if you can do that to a person, we've got a better chance of getting out of here alive." * Terry rubs at his head. * Miya goes back to walking to the lounge. "I did it to a lot of people," she snaps in the same tone. * Miya is there! [There is a rumble of thunder, and raindrops begin hitting the windows.] Find anything out? * Theodore follows Miya into the lounge. "Not being smart isn't the same as being foolish." He looks to Eui. "Yes." He points to the note he found. "Good news." * Miya walks right across, probably ignoring Theo. * Miya heads for the other cell block! Really? * Eui-Tae snaps up the letter and reads it over. I knew it! * Terry waves at Eui-Tae and follows Miya. * Theodore goes to look over the chemical room. [Theo is able to determine the basic principles of several interesting chemistry devices, such as the centrifuge.] * Theodore smiles, hmms and makes a few notes about that. * Eui-Tae walks over to where the room Miya busted in was, following Theo. * Miya heads into the other cell block. She carefully tries to ignore the dead body as she checks the cells. [Only one of these cells has a mattress and bedding. It's the far one from the lounge.] * Miya peers in it for a moment, swallows, and then enters. Is the bedding disturbed, and are the slippers there? [There are no slippers. The bedding looks like it was slept in.] * Terry steps carefully around the body and looks into each of the cells until he gets to the last one. Um. * Miya backs away. "I think- I think he was here." (I forget, did either of the other two cells on our side look like they'd had people in them?) [The two cells that were on your side that no one was in had bedding but it was neatly made.] * Terry looks in. "Yeah... uhm... he's not here anymore right? So... there's probably nothin' scary in there." Yeah. * Miya takes a deep breath. "Just somewhere else." She goes into the hallway, turns to the opposite door, and opens that. [Miya has opened the door to a storage room. It contains cardboard boxes, metal rolling carts, a rollable cot and a wheelchair, and piles of unopened paper packages.] [The storage room contains no other doors.] * Theodore glances to Eui-Tae. "Quite the lab. Not sure it tells us anything about our situation though." [Eui, to the degree he understood the formulae he found earlier, spots the chemicals and implements that would be necessary to follow them.] * Eui-Tae looks up at Theo. "You have any idea what this is?" * Theodore shakes his head. "Research laboratory, beyond that, no. * Terry nods. "Right. I'm gonna go put this over the guy in the hall." He walks into the last cell and pulls at the sheet. Okay. * Miya looks in the BOXES. [Miya finds a box from Office Depot full of spare office supplies.] [Beneath that is a box of syringes.] * Miya is tempted to take a staple remover. That's a deadly weapon. But she resists. * Miya keeps looking in boxes, pushing some out into the hallway if she has to. [Miya finds that most of the boxes are administrative supplies or general medical supplies (no drugs).] * Miya frowns. "No flashlight," she says to herself. (Also BOXES!) Pretty much it's a chemistry lab. * Theodore nods. "Time to keep looking then." We've got them trying to make two mixtures, one to suppress a function of the brain and one to counteract that suppression. Probably the stuff to suppress memories and powers. * Theodore blinks and looks at Eui-Tae. "They made one that counteracts the suppression?" They were trying to. But I don't know which one is which, or rather, I don't want to guess at one and be wrong. * Terry assumes nothing horrible happens when he picks up the sheet and walks back out into the hall to cover the body. * Miya backs out and heads to the other door, opening that one. * Terry meets Miya coming the other way. "''Nother broom closet?" Um, mostly office stuff. And needles. Stuff like that. Oh, guess they've gotta keep it somewhere huh? Yeah. [Miya finds a room with two comfortable chairs facing each other. The room, unlike every previous one, is painted in bright and cheerful colours. One of the two chairs has restraint straps to wrap around waist, wrists, and ankles.] [There is a video camera set up in one corner of the room, facing the chair with the restraints.] [The far wall of the room has a large mirror.] [There is one other door, next to the mirror.] * Miya looks around the room. She swallows dryly, but she walks in. * Miya keeps looking around, taking a deep breath, and stops when she sees herself in the mirror. * Miya walks up to the mirror, looking at her reflection. [Miya sees Miya in pajamas looking back at her.] * Terry looks in. "Okay, this is like the creepiest one yet." Yeah. Do you know enough to make them up? We may encounter an experimental subject sooner than we'd like. * Eui-Tae shrugs. "I wouldn't chance it. Do YOU want to take something made by someone who's learned all he knows about chemistry and biology from the internet?" And school. But mostly the internet. Inter... Never mind. I'm not suggesting we try it on the four of us. * Miya reaches out to tap the mirror. "My eyes are normal." What're they supposed to look like? Um. White. * Miya shakes her head as if to clear it, then goes about opening the door. [Miya finds the next room is a small room, dominated by... a window into the room you were just in! And three chairs. And a table at the rear, so it doesn't block the view through the window. And a television set and VCR sitting on the table.] [The table has a Styrofoam cup half full of cold coffee, a yearbook from Terry's school, and an X-Men comic book lying on it.] * Miya looks at the window, blinks, and then says, "Oh." She goes about seeing if there's anything on the table besides the television and VCR. [One way mirror, in case it's not obvious.] * Terry follows Miya in. "Oh, ... I'm kinda glad the power's not on. I don' wanna know what they've recorded 'n stuff." Um. Hey, there's some stuff here. Another comic. * Miya picks up said comic and flips through it. [The X-Men comic is a reprint of one of the Neal Adams issues. Classic stuff.] * Theodore then paces in the room, looking at his notes. "I'm less sure that the chemicals suppress powers at this points. I haven't seen a single mention of our abilities in any of the notes. Not even speculation. Have you?" * Eui-Tae sighs after getting bored trying to figure out things in the lab, then tags along to find the rest of the crew. "I think I found one earlier, but I don't remember exactly. Miya for one HAD powers, but doesn't anymore. That's not right." * Theodore heads towards the lounge. "Let me know if you remember. Because I don't. I think what they were trying to bring out may have involved our personalities, not our abilities." * Terry picks up his Jr. High School year book; it's very very very thin. "Hey, this's my class." * Miya tries to find out what's in the VCR. After trying to find out if the TV turns on. Which it probably won't. [The VCR is a magic VCR that can turn on without power... but only if you say the secret activation incantation, so it does nothing.] * Miya presses the eject button anyway. Maybe VCR technology's improved over the decade. Yeah? Yeah. Live in the Keys so there's not exactly a lotta us kids, ya know? The Keys? * Terry nods. "Yeah, Florida Keys, buncha islands off Florida. Kinda get knocked over every year during the Hurricanes?" * Miya looks sort of blank on that, but she nods. "Okay." So are you in it? * Miya scoots over to look in the yearbook. * Terry blinks. "Should be." Can I see? * Terry puts it back on the table and flips to the class pictures. "Sure." [Terry finds his class picture.] [Terry looks kind of dopey in the picture. But who doesn't?] * Miya giggles upon seeing Terry's picture. He *does* look dopey. * Terry points at himself. "See? There I am, an', man, they never pick good days to take these. S'like they're waiting for us to look our worst an' then click." Yeah. * Miya is silent for a moment, then she asks, "Do they have a picture of Meri?" * Terry points to the picture. "Yeah, she's right he... Huh?" * Eui-Tae walks into the room. "Hey, what'cha find?" * Terry blinks and looks closer. "Weird, she's, like, gone. It's like that Back to the Future movie or something." * Miya looks up. "Chairs and a yearbook and another comic." * Theodore follows. Frowning. I saw that movie! With the parents? Fading away in the picture? * Miya pauses, then adds, "That's not good." Yeah! She should totally be right there, an she's not! Um. ... How come? What, someone missing from your book? Yeah, Meri's not in here, an' I dunno why she isn't... This's a different world right? So maybe her parents moved'r somthin'. [Theo realizes that the donations to the institute, while sizable, would be well within the means of one of his family- at least in his world- without any need for embezzlement.] [Theo also realizes that the donations to the institute all start well after the embezzling.] * Theodore nods absentmindedly. "Fits with the notes." He then looks fairly relieved. * Miya looks up at Theo. "Huh?" The notes on Terry. They talked about Meri in a strange way. As if she wasn't someone Terry really was friends with. * Miya looks confused, then her eyes widen slightly. She slides off of the table and walks out of the room, comic in hand, pushing her way right by Theo and Eui if she has to. Miya? * Theodore looks down to Miya with a note of earnest concern in his voice. "What is it?" What if we *don't* have powers? * Miya tosses the comic on top of her other comics and picks up the walkman, rewinding and pressing play again. Possible. In this world certainly. They don't seem to know about them at all. ::He looks over to Eui.:: Unless you've remembered what you were thinking about. Yeah, I think so. Remember the Neuro Chemical Inhibitor Matrix they mentioned in the tape? * Miya is playing the tape, so it's mentioned again! [The tape rewinds, then plays. A man's voice can be heard. "Continuining dictation from previous tape, Marge." He clears his throat. "We'll see tomorrow the results of the neuro-chemical inhibitor matrix on the five subjects."] But, like, I never had any to start with, an. Do we know if you're you- you or the here-you, but, didn't he kinda get hit by a train 'n stuff? I'm all confused again. But what if we're made up? Kind of made up. Off of stuff they have? Except you, 'cause you're here, but your best friend isn't. Yeah, but also, they were putting things in us, various chemicals that would affect the way we *think*. * Terry sounds and looks confused. "Then... there's two of me?" The note I found in the inbox made it sound like we'd wake up not knowing this world. Which we did. It didn't say anything about being without powers. I need... I don't know... * Miya stares at the X-Men comics, then looks at the others. "Does anyone *come* from the cartoon? The Captain Planet cartoon?" I don't know what you mean. I... I guess I would. I had the ring of Wind. * Miya points at Eui. "So what if they made you out of the cartoon?" Made him? Made me? Yeah! What if they made me out of comics or movies? Um, hmm.. When's the cartoon take place? Would they even want to set something in my time period? I- * Miya blinks. "I dunno." * Terry rubs his head and shakes. "How d'ya make somebody out of a video tape? An I don't think you were in any of the comic books, were ya?" Um... no, but I don't think he was in the cartoon... A girl had that ring. * Miya looks away. At the comics. I'm not really following, but they show no signs of designing people or personalities. I think we need more information. So... they're kinda like there. An I'm from a place that's kinda like here right? Anyways, who the fuck's this Captain Planet person? Uh, he showed up when they combined powers and... and stuff... Think he was blue. Nothin' like that ever happened. Ever. Mostly we threw mud at each other and flew around in a super-aircraft. * Miya blinks. "Maybe there's books on it." She hurries over to the television office. There were books in there! * Theodore walks out to the other cell hallway. He takes a moment to search the other guard to see if there's a second set of keys around. He grimaces some at the blood and tries to avoid looking directly at it. [Theo does not find a key ring. Odd, that.] Right. He took it. * Theodore sighs and goes back to the offices hallway. He goes to unlock the door opposite the television room. He still has the mop and is keeping the metal tray under one arm. [Theo finds... another washroom. This one is smaller and cleaner and has two stalls and a sink. Unlike the previous ones, this looks just like any small public washroom. There are no cabinets or showers.] * Terry follows people and tries to make sense of things. He's having much better luck at the first. [Miya gets to the office. There are books in it.] * Miya starts looking at the books. [The books appear to be on psychiatry and psychology, with some on popular culture on a separate shelf.] * Miya doesn't get that brain stuff, so she looks at popular culture books! Wait a sec, you got your deck of cards? [Miya finds books on television shows, movies, books, comics, card games, anime, and cartoons. Many are things she hadn't heard of. Apparently, there were more Star Treks after TNG.] * Miya stares. "Wow." She blinks a few times. (Miya's awe might be less if she knew how BAD those other Star Treks were.) * Terry looks at the body here and then at Eui-Tae. "I'm gonna go cover this guy too." * Eui-Tae looks over the dead body and nods. * Theodore unlocks the last door on the right. [A crashing noise comes from downstairs, for everyone who can hear it.] * Theodore nods with approval at the covering of the body and keeps trying to open the last door in the hallway. He then starts at the noise. * Miya jumps a little. She walks quickly out the door. "I'll check," she calls before anyone objects and heads for the stairs. Wait. * Miya stops and looks back at Theodore. * Terry stops walking back to the cells. "Check what?" * Theodore looks back. "There's a crazy guy down there. We shouldn't split up. If we decide to risk it we should go together." I'm just going to the stairs. So, um, you can do whatever. * Miya keeps going. * Theodore looks seriously displeased and keeps trying to open the door. [Theo opens it.] [There is a sudden flash of lightning through the window, and three second later, a roar of thunder.] * Miya jumps again, but this time, she's pretty sure nothing's going to attack her because of that. * Terry rubs his ears. "It's really goin' out there." * Miya finds the stairs and stands guard at the top. She's very intimidating. * Terry heads back to the first cell block. * Eui-Tae looks at the people around splitting in directions, and decides to head back to the offices to do more investigating. [Theo finds a conference lounge. There is a laptop on the desk.] [Upon closer inspection, the "desk" is a table, not a desk.] [There is a water cooler in one corner, and a total of eight chairs around the room.] [This room has only a couple of books on a mostly empty bookshelf, and no personal effects visible.] [There is also, for some reason, a jacket lying on the back of a chair.] Hmm.. different sort of letter board. ::He glances around the room for anything of interest to him.:: * Theodore walks over to search the jacket and glances at the titles to the books. [The books appear to randomly mix biology and psychology.] * Theodore searches the jacket. [The jacket is a black windbreaker.] * Theodore checks the pockets of the jacket in case there's anything there. "Er, I did. Go ahead and check it out." [Theo finds a glasses case.] * Terry pulls the blue sheet off the first mattress and carries it back to the to the body as he passes Miya on the way back he whispers. "Hear anythin'?" * Miya whispers back, "There was a crash before." * Eui-Tae peeks into the room Theo just opened. "... You found a laptop. Awesome!" * Miya starts at Eui's cry of happy and looks that way. * Eui-Tae speeds over and settles down, popping open the laptop and turning it on. "Come on, have batteries, have batteries..." [The laptop whirs into life.] * Terry looks that way too. "Want me ta go find out what he's found?" * Miya nods. "If you want." If, um, I get attacked, I'll make sure I scream really loud. Kay. I'll uh... come back an push him down the stairs? * Miya blinks. "Okay." [After a minute of loading, the rolling green hills of the default Windows XP desktop image appear. And a warning appears: "Battery Low".] Awww, fuck, okay. * Theodore sighs and checks inside the glasses case. He then looks over to the laptop. [Theo finds knock off Rayban shades.] [Break!] Theo should wear the shades!
