[You're all in the lounge room. Theo just grabbed a surprisingly clear and helpful book on neural chemistry. And you've barricaded the stairs.] [The rest of you were sorting papers that Miya carted in.] [Resume.] * Miya continues sorting papers! It's exciting. She goes through more papers, now, adding things to her timeline as she comes across them (and putting the others in their respective piles). * Theodore looks to Eui. "Do you still have those two formulas? With this book I might be able to decipher them." Weren't you the one writing it down? I wrote down the one on the blackboard, but I think you mentioned there being another. * Terry starts sorting papers again, but unlike Miya, he isn't putting his own into any sort of order and since he can't read Japanese or Korean, they're both going into the same pile. * Theodore does get out the one he had on his notepad and works on that for now. [Theo realizes that the formulae proves that a certain neurochemical process would not affect the area of the brain related to long term memories.] (This certain process in being the inhibitor?) (The process might be described as an "inhibitor".) If I'm reading this book properly, the inhibitor formula wouldn't affect long term memories. That's what it says, huh? * Theodore nods. "But there was another formula, right? Or am I misremembering?" * Theodore looks to Eui to see if he remembers a second formula. * Miya shrugs helplessly. She goes back to sorting. * Terry blinks at a folded piece of paper and then starts to read it. "Aw man, this isn't cool." Huh? * Terry folds the paper back up and hands it to Miya. "Ya gotta see it for yourself, but, like, it's bad news. Ya know?" * Miya blinks and takes the paper from Terry, looking at it. * Miya blinks at the paper, and then she starts trembling a little, still reading. Another formula that canceled the first, yes. Or was supposed to, in theory. * Theodore nods. "Have that sheet of paper?" * Terry watches Miya read and winces slightly. * Miya starts to tear up, and she reads it again. "" she whispers in Japanese before her head snaps up to look at Terry. She switches to English and screams, "I didn't do it!" * Terry holds up both his hand, palms towards Miya. "I know ya didn't. It was totally the other you from here." * Eui-Tae shrugs. "Yeah, I do." He passes Theo a piece of paper containing the formula. What is going ON over there? * Miya jumps to her feet. She's still shaking. "The other me didn't either!" * Theodore takes the paper. "Thank you." He goes to try to translate this one. If he's concerned about Miya's revelation that her alter-ego killed a kid, he's not showing it. Uh... kay. Neither of you did it. They jus' think she did, an' they're wrong. They've been wrong 'bout a lot of stuff right? Like they didn't think this was gonna happen. * Miya looks like she's about to accept that, looking back down at the letter, and then she freezes and glares at Terry again. "You say that to make me feel better." * Terry rubs the back of his head and looks down. "Uh... mostly? I mean it's not like I was there or anythin'. So I just gotta go with what I know, and, like, you don't seem like the sorta person who'd uh... do somethin' like that. Ya know?" * Miya looks at Terry for a long moment, still shaking, and then she swallows a big gulp of air, almost like a hiccup, and sits down again. She curls up and wraps her arms around her legs, the paper getting crumpled in one hand. [Theodore realizes that one of the two formulae would create a brain chemistry imbalance that would render the subject highly vulnerable to suggestion and delusion, and the other would balance against the first, rendering the subject normal.] [Theo also realizes that while the two formulae could be used safely together, repeated applications of either would be highly dangerous.] * Theodore tries to figure out if suggestions implanted during the gullible mode would stick around for the normal mode. [Theo believes that such suggestions would.] [To rephrase: Theo believes that the application of the second formula would leave such suggestions sticking around.] * Miya stuffs her face into her knees and starts to cry. * Terry stands up and walks over to Miya. " 'Sides, it's not like you're personally responsible for every you out there. Most people got all they can handle with one life right?" * Miya says something totally incomprehensible and in another language, on top of that. * Eui-Tae takes a deep breath, sitting down and holding his head in his hands. He looks up and around after a moment. "We have to do something. I don't want to stick around here and wait for the power to come back and the guards and doctors to do so as well." * Theodore frowns and tries to determine under what circumstances suggestion may prove capable of overriding insanity. E.g. would it only work if someone was able to re-interpret some horribly traumatic memory or if it could work in a general case. * Terry awkwardly pats Miya on the back. "Ya gotta, like, deal with the stuff you can. Like Meri wants ta save all the endangered animals and clean up the oceans an stuff. We can't do all that 'cause we're jus kids, but, like, we can clean up the beaches on the key and donate parts of our allowances an stuff." * Miya twitches at the touch and repeats what she just said, screaming it this time, and again, it's in another language. She reaches back and tries to grab Terry's arm, twisting it in a way it really isn't supposed to go. [Terry's pajama arm rips off due to shoddy seamsmanship, leaving him free and Miya holding his sleeve.] * Terry scrambles backwards. "Wha, hey!" * Eui-Tae looks at Miya, keeping his distance. "Whoa whoa, Miya! Settle down!" (Need a reminder of potential weapons / defensive objects in the room.) [The room has two couches, a table with four chairs around it and a game of checkers laid out on it, a cart Mia rolled in, and piles of paper.] [There are comics, magazines, and an unwashed coffee mug on the floor. They were formerly on a small table that is now wedging open an elevator.] [There is a cabinet mounted on one wall that Theo opened, containing some Kleenex, pads of paper, pens, a clipboard, a bunch of little pill containers with labels, a pox of syringes, a box of rubber gloves, and some vials and bottles.] [Other than that, it's whatever you've picked up.] * Miya keeps yelling in Japanese. She's shaking and her face is flushed, but this doesn't stop her from jumping to her feet, throwing a punch at Terry's chest and then turning for a kick to his side. [Miya's punch looks about to connect when Terry darts backward. Miya's follow-up kick goes wide, and Terry doesn't have to dodge that at all.] * Terry continues to move backwards. "Like wait! I'm sorry if I offended an' stuff!" (While we wait on Eui, do the table legs look sturdy enough to anchor the rope? If not what's the sturdiest looking thing? Wrapping around the couch?) [The table would slide. The couch is a better bet.] Miya, Terry, what are you *doing*? Break it up! * Theodore grabs the rope he made and works to secure it around the couch. He keeps a watchful eye on Miya but doesn't comment just yet. He has not proved deft in the past at Miya handling. [Theo secures the rope around the couch!] * Miya looks more upset at Terry's actions than anything, and she throws two rapid kicks at him. She might have been stumbling earlier that day, but she seems in awfully good form now. [Terry leaps back desperately to avoid the flashing foot, staying just out of reach.] * Terry keeps moving out of reach. "Ah look! I know this's all bad an' stuff, an', like I'm not saying ya couldn't hurt somebody if ya needed to an' stuff. Bu, like, ya don't have to prove it! I was gonna suggest Duel Masters, 'cause we got two decks now!" * Eui-Tae looks at what's going on, trying to figure out what in HFIL he should do. * Theodore swiftly moves over to Eui. He speaks quietly "Try to talk her down. If not, you two climb of here and I'll try to subdue her." [Terry and Miya both heard that.] * Miya might hear, but she keeps attacking Terry regardless. She's given up on shouting and now just seems to be doing her level best to destroy him, throwing a punch for his ribs and another at his chin. [Miya's first punch doesn't reach the rapidly retreating Terry, but her second one does, hitting him on the chin and flipping him down onto his back.] * Terry scrambles sideways or mostly sideways. He's not looking too hot after that one hit and probably can't take another. * Eui-Tae pulls out the sedatives, in case he has to use them, but he's hesitant to go anywhere near the fighting. * Theodore grabs a chair and swings it at Miya. "Eui, Terry, get out of here!" [Theo's chair swing fails to connect, but makes an impressive whirring sound as it passes her.] * Miya feels the breeze made by the chair and whirls to face Theo. For a fraction of a second it looks like she might be just a scared little girl, and then she screams and darts in, snapping a kick at Theo's chest and following it up with another one, lower and at his legs. * Theodore leaps back each time, keeping the chair in hand. He didn't let down his guard for a second despite her scared little girl look. * Terry wasn't exactly in the right frame of mind for noticing important clues as to what's going on, so the heads for the place the grown up said to. Or at least where the sofa should be. Yes sir! * Eui-Tae gets out of the way as best he can to avoid getting smacked. * Theodore takes another swing. "The rope is tied to the coach. Climb out the window!" [Theo's swing of the chair fails to connect, but it probably holds Miya's attention.] [Lightning flashes in the sky outside the lounge's window.] [The closed window does not look like it has a latch. You'd have to break it open.] * Miya 's attention sure is held, as she tries to punch Theo in the face and then grab him, throwing him into a wall. [Miya's punch connects with Theo's nose, from which blood emerges, then bounces him off the wall. Somehow, he holds onto the chair.] [Theo looks visibly wobbly now.] * Terry reaches the safety(?) of having furniture between himself and the suddenly crazy Japanese girl. "Miya! Ya gotta calm down an' stuff! The crazy guy who's an alien's gonna hear an' he's gotta gun!" * Theodore staggers at the blows and glances at the window himself and then at the two boys. He faces Miya again. * Eui-Tae mutters to himself in Korean for a moment, then takes out a container of some liquid and splashes it in Miya's direction. [The liquid hits Miya full on in the face, getting in her eyes, nose and mouth. It just feels sticky on her skin, but her eyes sting and burn; she's blinded. It also tastes nasty, and she starts gagging on it.] * Theodore grits his teeth. "Terry, break the accursed window or fight!" He takes a swing at Miya while she's hopefully off guard. Theo, hold her down! * Miya screams, and she starts clawing at her eyes, crying. I'll do my best. * Terry blinks. "What was that?" Chemical compound. We'll need to get her eyes washed out as soon as we can. But we need to *stop* her from fighting. * Miya keeps screaming. She tries to open one eye and gives up, squinting them shut before throwing herself in Eui's direction, trying to tackle him to the ground. [Eui has little trouble sidestepping the charge of the blind, screaming girl, and her arms wrap around air before she lands face-first on the cold tile.] [Miya feels an urge to vomit.] * Miya stays right where she is on the tile. She gags, and then she starts heaving, throwing up... well, there's not much *to* throw up, but she does it. [The tile is no longer clean. Miya's stomach contents are meager, and might be identifiable if anyone wants to study them closely.] (There's, um... a lollipop. And I don't know what else.) * Terry does what he can, which for right now is grabbing the coffee cup and running to the bathroom water. [Terry attains a cup full of water!] ( This girl nearly killed me! I HAVE TO SAVE HER!) (Terry pours water into Miya's eyes, clearing them and restoring her to full fighting strength. Go Terry!) (Okay, if that happens, I'm focusing on taking down Terry. ;P) * Theodore does look ready to try to hold down Miya if Eui wants to hold. Hold her, I'll sedate, then we can wash her eyes out. * Theodore rushes over to Miya, dropping the chair, and doing his best to hold down the girl. If he's exceptionally concerned with not hurting her in the process, then his technique is subtle. [Miya thrashes like a caged animal, and Theo can't get a grip on her.] Miya, calm down! We don't want to hurt you; just stay calm! (/me considers rolling for how long before Theo says "Screw you guys, I'm escaping.") (To overcome his objections to abandoning children to a psychopath. And a guy with a gun. :P) (Hey! I'll have you know that I'm not a psychopath!) (Sure you're not.) (I dunno. Guy with a gun at least has a reason to attack.) (Just doing a very bad job of proving to Terry that, yes, you could kill somebody.) (Whereas Miya, well, attacked the person that had demonstrated compassion towards her repeatedly.) (I'd rather help the guy find his spaceship. ^_~) * Miya keeps heaving, though there's nothing coming out. She turns on the floor, getting vomit on herself, and lashes one foot blindly to catch Theodore and make him fall to the ground. [Miya's foot lashes out blindly, but proves that "blindly" is not an attack method prone to success. She attacks nowhere near where Theo is.] * Terry resists the urge to conserve water and leaves the tap running while he runs back and discovers that they still don't have Miya held down. So he just pleads with her. "Ya gotta calm down! We're try'n ta help you!" Help me hold her down! * Terry sets the water down and tries to pin Miya? [Terry trips over Miya's "blind" kicking, falling to the ground.] [Terry spilled the water when he fell, incidentally.] * Eui-Tae gets down and talks to Miya. "I don't want to have to sedate you. Can you calm down so we can wash that stuff out of your eyes?" * Miya heaves and sobs in response. Nice. * Theodore tries once more to hold her down. This time he doesn't fully commit himself to the attack; last time was too close. [Theo can't manage to hold down the hysterical Miya.] * Miya keeps crying and shuddering. She doesn't attack Theo, though, instead just trying to crawl away from where she figures he and Eui are. * Terry staggers back up to his feet and really isn't looking too good. Oh geeze. * Theodore flinches in pain and then backs up grab the chair and use it to break the window. * Eui-Tae walks over to where Miya is headed and tries to help her to her feet. "Terry, get some water!" * Terry points in the general direction of the spilled cup. "S'over ther... Aww man, today sucks." He walks in a mostly straight line to it and picks it up. He continues to the bathroom while other people do stuff. * Miya keeps heaving. She hits the wall with her fingertips and turns, sitting right there and rubbing at her eyes. [Theo's chair breaks the window in a shower of glass. Chill night air, carrying rain, is blown into the lounge, hitting the quartet.] * Theodore starts to knock out any loose glass in the frame with his chair. He then changes his minds, gets out his notepad, and writes a quick note. He walks over to Eui and shows it to him. * Eui-Tae nods. "But she's with us, and I won't leave her." * Miya gives up, and she breaks down, giving herself completely in to crying. * Terry comes back with the water and looks at the crying Miya. "I'ma gonna pour the water now... So... uhm... yeah." He waits to see if the other two have something to add. * Eui-Tae nods. "On the eyes. They should have an eye-wash station in the lab too, where we can thoroughly take out the chemicals." * Terry wobbles. "Know tha' much." He walks over to Miya and hopes she isn't covering her face with her hands. * Miya isn't. She's just slumped, dejected, and crying her heart out. * Theodore nods. "I understand. You three go on then. I wish you the best of luck. I'll stick around to distract our pistol wielding friend long enough to make good your escape." * Eui-Tae helps Miya up. "You're coming with us too. He'll find his 'ship' soon enough, I think." No. I'm not. * Eui-Tae sighs to Theodore. "Okay." * Terry doesn't put a hand on Miya this time, just speaks as calmly as he can. "Miya? I'm gonna pour some water in your eyes." * Miya gasps out, "Okay." Her voice is dry and raspy, and she wipes at her eyes before turning her head up so Terry can. * Terry pours water on Miya's face. [The water washes the chemicals out of Miya's eyes. They still sting a bit, but it's not nearly as painful. She still can't see.] * Miya whimpers, but she doesn't move to stop it. She tries blinking her eyes open and gives up when it hurts too much. [Miya should be able to open her eyes without additional pain now.] If you have something for pain, please leave it. I'm going to go clean my wounds. * Terry speaks again. "I'm gonna get ya another cup an' then we're gonna walk to the eye wash station in the lab, 'kay?" * Miya lets out another whimper when she hears what Theo says and tries to open her eyes again. It works this time. "Okay." [Miya sees only a blur.] * Miya coughs a few times, then she sniffles and wipes at her nose. * Theodore walks down the hallway to the bathroom by the elevator. * Terry goes to fill cup number too and when he sees Theo he wishes him luck. * Theodore nods and looks down for a moment. "You too, kid." * Theodore keeps going. * Eui-Tae gets up and glances at Theodore. "Leave what?" Medicine. ::He gives a weak smile.:: If you have anything extra. If not, I'll make do. I'll see what I can do. * Theodore tries to remember if he's seen any good bandage material around as he washes himself off. * Terry fills the cup with water and returns to kneel next to Miya. "Kay, I'm back an' gonna do the same thing 'gain." * Miya looks at Terry, though it's obvious she doesn't know exactly where he is. "O- okay." * Terry pours half of cup number two onto Miya's face. (I'm getting water ON THE FACE!) (Well, if you hadn't knocked him down to 10 HP he might be able to AIM a little better.) (Miya goes berzerk at the water attack!) (What's Miya doing with her hands right now?) (They're on her lap.) (Oh, that's good.) * Eui-Tae walks over to the cabinet, taking a look for what would be immediately useful in this situation, and what can be used to help in the case that they need to get away from this place. [The cabinet still contains: some Kleenex, pads of paper, pens, a clipboard, a bunch of little pill containers with labels, a pox of syringes, a box of rubber gloves, and some vials and bottles.] * Eui-Tae takes the rubber gloves, the paper, pens, Kleenex, and looks through the pills for anything that's not 'happy' medication. [There are over the counter pain killers.] * Eui-Tae grabs that too. Painkillers goooooood. * Eui-Tae goes after the next cabinet, the one that was, um... Where was the other one? [There was a cabinet in the room with the "dentist chair" full of medical supplies.] (Ah, check that one.) * Terry lightly, as he can anyway, touches the base of the cup to her hands. "Uh... think ya can drink the rest of this? If not, I'll get Eui-Tae an' we'll carry ya if we have ta." Uh. Uh huh. * Miya lifts the water up to her mouth and starts to drink it, spilling some onto her pajamas. But then, there's vomit on her pajamas, so is that really a bad thing? [Eui walks down the hall and into the room with the dentist chair, where he finds in the open cabinet: some hanging medical gowns, hats, masks, a portable defibrillator unit, some machines, and bottles and vials of liquids and pills, all labelled. There are metal surgical instruments, tongs and scalpels.] * Eui-Tae grabs the portable defibrillator, some hats, two gowns, and looks over the medication. [Eui finds medication to treat a wide variety of conditions, from low blood pressure medicine to insulin to antibiotics.] * Eui-Tae takes an array of them, as you never know when you'll need some. He places some of the painkillers in the cabinet for Theo. * Miya finishes drinking the water, and she shudders before letting the mug drop. * Terry happens to have one of his hands in the right spot for the cup to fall gently into it, and he sets it aside. "Kay, now the hard part, 'cause, like, I'm 'bout this close to bein' the one that needs ta be carried." * Terry sounds like he's making a joke of that last bit. * Theodore washes off his wounds in the bathroom. (Does Theo undress to do that?) (He'd need to, probably.) (Shirt only, as needed) (Emphasis on not limiting his mobility.) [Theo's got a variety of scrapes and bruises along his back from being thrown into the wall, and a bit of blood is still trickling from his nose.] * Miya winces and looks away, even if she can't see Terry. "'m sorry," she says softly. Ah, s'not quite as bad as fallin' off the wall, or that one overpass... an' I dun wanna talk 'bout the bridge, but could ya... you know... not do it again? * Miya sobs. She doesn't answer. I'll take that assa yeah. C'mon, still gotta get outta here. * Miya shakes her head. She wipes at her eyes. "Why?" Cause we still don't know if we're us an' Mr. Theodore broke the window an it's getting cold in here an it's rainin'? But... you shouldn't take me with. * Eui-Tae walks over, grabs the laptop and takes his sack of medication. "Nonsense, we're taking you with." [Terry's words are accurate. Rain is gradually dampening their clothing as it drifts in through the window to spray the room.] * Miya doesn't seem to notice that rain stuff. "But I might hurt you again," she says, dully. (That's what Theo's been saying. :P) * Terry thinks about that. "Actually... Couple of my best cards. Somma the time they'll backfire an' totally lose the game for me, but mosta the time, they work. I'll show 'em to ya after we get your eyes washed out an' is not so wet so y'll belive me." ... Huh? I'll show ya after. * Miya shrugs. Yeah. Better to take you with, I'll risk it. See? He totally agrees with me. So we stand up now an' stuff. * Miya lets out a sigh and doesn't stand. "I don't get it. I killed him." * Theodore glances through the rooms for any potential bandage material. Something better than ripping blankets. (Explain the degree of searching Theodore is doing?) (And which rooms he's searching?) (He's starting at the back two. Left then right. He's double checking drawers and such. No checking for anything cleverly hidden) [Theo finds in the drawers a few notebooks and some letters stored in open envelopes. Also, a single, solitary pen.] * Theodore looks surprised and grabs the notebooks and envelopes. He leaves the pen unless it looks to be of particular quality or monographed or the like. [The pen is shiny and metallic looking.] (High quality!) (Actually, more fancy looking but not that great in functionality.) * Theodore takes the pen too then. He drops it all off in the bathroom and keeps checking for bandages. Uh, I'ma little fuzzy on this but... didn' I just get finished saying that wasn't you or your fault? An I know I said it the firs' time you found out. * Miya shrugs and sniffs. Her eyes tear up again. * Terry rubs his head again and then starts to talk. "Doya mind if ask a weird question?" Then, without waiting for a response, he continues. "How come ya keep tryn' to take responsibility for somethin ya can't control an' stuff?" * Miya looks confused. "What?" Well, the Miya that's here did stuff that you coudn't've done 'cause you're from the wrong time right? But every time it comes up is like you think you're the one who did it when you aren't an' that's confusin' me. Because... * Miya looks down, and then says more quietly, "'Cause maybe I did." * Terry also looks down. "Oh." I could... do it. And maybe- maybe we are crazy. [Theo makes his way to office three, the one that looks like a GP's examining room, where he spies a box of bandages sitting on a shelf.] * Theodore smiles. He takes the bandages over to the bathroom and works on treating himself. [Temporally displaced capitalist, heal thyself! Theo applies bandages.] * Eui-Tae walks over to Theo. "Got some pain killers in the examination room, along with various other medications. Figured you might need them." Thanks. Good luck. If he doesn't show, I'll give you an hour before slipping out myself. Good enough? * Eui-Tae nods. "You'd better get out, too. I don't know what we're doing after, but we should be able to find some way to get along." * Theodore nods and speaks quietly. "It seems like this is the real world and ours weren't. But just in case, see if any of that future knowledge holds up. Even if it doesn't we can probably stay free if we just pretend we're normal. * Eui-Tae nods. "For one, stay out of India and Pakistan." India and Pakistan. Okay. ( I suppose the British colony may come under some sort of violent rebellion by the natives there.) (Actually, would Theo even know what Pakistan was?) (No) * Theodore doesn't sound fully comprehending, but he does sound like he's taking this warning to heart. My mom usedta say that anybody who'd jump offa the top of a perfectly good building was crazy, but, like if you know how, it's lotsa fun, but more fun to run back up the side an'... I dunno, I kinda think there's no point in goin' over what'cha might have done. I mean, you mighta just hurt me real bad, butcha didn't. An' I still think I'm not crazy and that Meri exists. So like, if there is a you that killed somebody, it's not the one I'm talkin' to. I could be wrong though. * Miya still looks confused. "But... I did hurt you real bad." Yeah, an' I've hurt me real bad too. So if ya get like that 'gain I'm gonna do something different. Jus' like I'm not gonna try to jump forty feet off a freeway overpass onta a truck again. * Miya still looks confused, but she's so confused that she's not crying. "O... kay?" * Terry nods. "Gonna stick to longer trucks so can stop in time." * Miya giggles. She sounds just a little delirious. * Theodore then hands the letter and notebooks to Eui. "Found these. You may need them more than I do. Get going." * Eui-Tae takes them and nods to Theodore. "Thanks." * Eui-Tae nods and smiles to Theodore. "Good luck, and good bye." He walks over to Miya and Terry. "Ready to get going?" I can't see. Where are we going? Gonna try ta wash your eyes out with the other stuff. Oh. * Miya gets to her feet, wobbling a little once she stands, but she steadies herself quickly. [Eui and Terry hear sirens and see flashing red lights through the window.] An', uh... is that a good thing or a bad one righ' now? Huh? Oh FUCK. [Break.]
