[It's mid afternoon. Suzunosuke is bumming around in a small village just east of the Salamanders. Vacations are good, and food is even better... pity he just realized he's running out of cash. Still! No reason not to enjoy yourself.] [He's currently... well, I'm not entirely sure what he's doing. Maybe he'll be nice and tell us, yeah?] [Session Start.] How could I have spent so much so fast! * Suzunosuke looks through his money pouch once more. (And wonders if this means his Wealth 1 has been overridden.) ( No, but 750 still isn't THAT much :P ) Oh, well. Nothing for it. Waiter! (Especially not compared to what he's likely used to. And what he took.) [A waiter walks over and inquires as to your wishes.] * Suzunosuke counts on his fingers as he waits for... Ah. Can you get me a couple of those excelent meat rolls to go? And fill my canteen. [He takes your canteen and bows, then goes to do that.] Huh. It must have been those bandits up north that depleted my funds so badly. Second edition, indeed! * Suzunosuke grabs a well-worn book out of his rucksack and thumbs carefully through the pages. I ought to go back and punish those thieving dealers. ( His book is only third edition! Ha! ) [Suzunosuke's musings are rudely interrupted by a loud argument taking place in back. Usually not a big deal, but the words "Give me your money" reach his ears.] * Suzunosuke leans back in his seat and looks over his shoulder. * Suzunosuke doesn't make any particular effort to do this inobtrusively - he just looks while the looking is good. [This is followed shortly by several large thuds, *more* yelling (though incomprehensible) and one of the dirtiest men you've ever seen running from there and through the eating area. His hair is mottled and black, he has stubble on his chin, and his clothes must not have been washed for over a week. Nevertheless, he's carrying what looks like a katana. Oh, and a bag, probably of kanmon.] * Suzunosuke stands up gracefully and edges into the man's path. Hold, friend. * Thug looks Suzu up and down and sneers. He raises his katana. "You! give me all your money, now!" *blink* *blink* Why would I do that? * Suzunosuke gives him a less-friendly stare. * Thug stares at Suzu a minute. "Because if you don't, I'll cut your eyes out!" * Suzunosuke draws his own sword, a straightish katana, from nowhere and raises it to a well-practiced guard. I think not. * Suzunosuke 's stare is not at all friendly, now. * Thug growls. "You dare?! You'll regret this!" Roll init ^_^ d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Suzunosuke (d6+7) and gets 12. ( Ok, you go first :P ) * Suzunosuke steps calmly into the thug's guard and engages him with unhurried, smooth swoardplay. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Suzunosuke (2d6-2) and gets 4. * Thug howls as Suzu cuts into the shoulder of his sword arm. He quickly strikes right back, but the pain causes him to miss pretty badly. ( Go again ^_^ ) Will you yield? * Suzunosuke asks this, even as he deftly continues to batter at the thug. I'll kill you! 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Suzunosuke (2d6-2) and gets 3. [Suzunosuke batters him maybe a little too much and cuts a deep gash in his side. The man twists around and falls to the floor.] Ah, so this is the common thug. A pity - one might have hoped for a greater challenge. ( I'll add it to the beastary! ) * Suzunosuke keeps his sword drawn and his guard up as he kneels down to examine the fallen foe. [The thug doesn't seem too keen on responding, considering he's sort of... y'know... still and not breathing and stuff. You hear, "That was amazing!" from the back, though, and before you know it, a man wearing an apron and a bushy moustache is right next to you.] * Suzunosuke stands back up. * Thug is now known as Chef It was a... pleasure, friend. Seldom does one have such... purity of cause. Has he much troubled you before? No, this is the first time something like this has happened. Then I pray it will also be the last. Did he hurt anyone? * Chef looks down at the guy. "Yeah." He looks back up. "Well, consider your meal on the house." * Suzunosuke bows. "You are too kind." ( Yes, I get that all the time :P ) [People are seeing to the wounded. Yay!] * Suzunosuke finally sees fit to put the sword away - he seems to tuck it into his belt, but it just vanishes. So, you're looking for tough guys, huh? Is there a local constabulary we... ought report this - uh? I am looking to make my... name. * Suzunosuke sniffs at the dirty corpse. [Funnly enough, the town guard arrives. Two guys drag the corpse out while a third gets the details from the waiter.] Men such as these merely are... steps in that path. I do wish to make bigger steps. 'Cause I heard a rumor about a job in Redrock City. It's supposed to be pretty high-paying. Those kinds of jobs always come with some sort of danger. The money means... *blink* * Suzunosuke looks in his purse again. Where was this job, did you say? Redrock City. Just over the Salamanders. Can't miss it. * Suzunosuke gets a scrap of paper out of his rucksack and scribbles down "Jub inn Redd Rok Sity - Gud Munny" ( Heh ) And who should I speak with about this job? (*giggles*) * Chef thinks. "Academy of... mm... what was it? Some scientists or something." * Suzunosuke makes another note. This one's completely unreadable. I... thank you, friend. And I thank you. If I might have my canteen, I shall procede to this Red Rock. * Chef nods. "Of course." He gestures to the waiter, who returns with the canteen quickfast. * Suzunosuke bows, and walks away unhurriedly. [And Suzunosuke leaves for Redrock City! Will he find fame, fortune, or more meat dumplings? He sure doesn't know.] [Session End.]
