[You get to the station. It's a building with a single floor and a gate that leads out to the tracks. There's a ticket seller at the window, and a few passengers waiting, but the place isn't crowded just yet; there's still a while before the train comes.] * Suzunosuke finds a place to sit and read. * Mikoto walks in from the street, carrying a small backpack and a sheathed wakizashi over one shoulder. He spies Suzunosuke but nobody else, and makes to say hello before the others arrive. * Suzunosuke nods in acknowledgement. * Mikoto smiles. "I'm not interrupting, am I, Mister Takame?" He finds somewhere nearby to sit, and faces the samurai. "Or, if you prefer, Takame-san." Whatever you prefer, friend. In this place, even Suzunosuke is not inappropriate. * Mikoto mms faintly, laying the backpack and sword across his lap, crossing his arms behind his head. "Well, there's being polite, and then there's protocol. It's probably not a good idea to refer to someone from such a preeminent family by his first name," he comments nonchalantly. Alas, I am merely a young warrior making his own name. But my clan surely appreciates your respect. * Mikoto gets a distracted look and glances around the station. "Well, if you don't have respect, you don't have anything." Indeed. I hope to earn your respect, though. It is unfair to expect more than thaat, here. * Mikoto laughs a little. "My respect is easy to earn. I try not to be too demanding on other people, because I hope they'd show leniency to me." He leans back. "I think the key to success in the border, Mister Samurai, is to be as the reed, not the boulder." * Jinx rides his horse up to the station, he looks a bit annoyed, but does politely wave at his two compatriots. * Suzunosuke mutters, "Moreover, I hope to gain the respect of my brothers." * Suzunosuke looks up, and nods greetings once more. * Jinx rides his horse over to the loading area and dismounts. * Mikoto glances at Suzunosuke curiously a moment, then waves a hand at Jinx, blinking. "Why the unhappy face?" * Jinx ties up his horse and pats her on the side. "Good Lightning, enjoy the ride, see ya in a bit." * Jinx walks to join the others. "Not a game in town to be found, I'd start one but that'd be cutting it a bit too close. Is there really time? * John comes to the station, with a hazelnut horse in tow. "Hey, Jinx. Know what's going on? Been a while since I've ridden on a train." For a few rolls of craps, sure. For poker, maybe a hand. I have... little experience in the ways of gambling, but those that I know who do seem to spend hour upon hour at that passtime. * Mikoto grins at Suzunosuke. "Only the foolish ones. The only good bet is a sure thing." He glances at Jinx and smiles in embarassment a little. "Well, from my perspective, anyway." That would seem to be a wise position. * Jinx gestures over to his horse. "Far as I know, tie your horse up over there. When our employer shows up we'll tell the station master that those are our horses." * John nods. "What're you doing in the meantime? Poker?" * Jinx laughs. "I've always found that there is no sure thing." * Jinx grins and nods to John. "Poker, craps, whatever suits your fancy, if you're game. Couldn't find one in town." * John ties his horse over to where he pointed. "See you in a little, girl. I know you don't like these things, but I'll see ya soon." * Suzunosuke glances over at John, approvingly. * Suzunosuke sees Millie coming, and winces very slightly. * Mikoto leans forward in his seat and grins at Jinx a little more broadly. "Oh, I agree. There's never a sure thing. It's why I don't gamble very much." * Millie 's still grumbling as she approaches the platform. "...no good swindlin' overhappy freak. Why, if I weren't so civil I'd..." Didn't get the gun I see. * Millie smiles happily to everyone else, her face changing immediately. "Well howdy fellas. See the gang made it." * Millie unslings her pack from her back and opens it up, stuffing the items she bought inside. * Millie ignores John utterly. * Jinx smiles back at Mikoto. "I can see that. But from where I stand, life is a gamble, when the odds are good, bet all you can afford." Hey Millie, get your supplies without any trouble? What if you loose against the odds then? All's we gotta wait for is Miss Mary an' that Tairan feller. * Mikoto laughs. "I think it takes both kinds of people to make the world. So, you can make the gutsy bets, and I'll be nice and cautious." * Millie looks up at Jinx and pouts, biting her thumb as she kneels over her pack, sniffling. "I don't wanna talk about it...." * Millie puts her pack over her right shoulder and stands back up quickly. * Jinx frowns. "Sorry to hear that, and you're probably right Mikoto. Although I doubt I could take your path even where I so inclined." * Mikoto nods. "But I couldn't take yours either. In the end, it balances out." * Millie looks out at Tairan and sighs deeply, brushing her hair out of her eyes. "So how much he swindle YOU for?" * Jinx then turns up to John. "Well, you do, but like the man says, it balances out, and if the odds are right, you'll win more than you lose." * Tairan shrugs. "Not swindled. Just had to deal with kanmon to dollar exchange rates." Hmm, playin the odds is what you do then? * Millie nods slightly. "Swindled. They'll do that to foreigners anywhere." Nah, I understand it. Don't much like it, but understand it. I don't see how he coulda done that ta poor Millie though..it's not like I was askin' much...raight? ...I have not dealt with that yet. I do not look forward to it. It's what you ask for. If ya go for something expensive, they know you have the cash to burn. 68 dollars is 100 kanmon, at least in that store. * Mikoto breathes out and gives Tairan a knowing look. "I carry a little of both. I find it helpful from time to time." * Millie looks wide-eyed at Tairan. "Sixty-eight!?? What'd you buy?" Potion. * Millie narrows her eyes at Tairan, stomping forward towards him. "The same potion he told me was seventy??" * John chuckles. "He's definetly not a straight seller, is he?" Never know when you'll end up blocking a sword with your gut. And he said it was normally seventy, but that he'd give you a discount, I believe. * Millie rubs her cheek and calms down a little. "Maybe...but I don't trust him. Too shifty eyed. An' I don't think he was a real Injun neither." Not like I had a choice though.. I didn't trust him. 's why he didn't get none of my business. If his potion works, it's worth it. If not... well, he might get more than my business at some point. * Mikoto blinks at Millie and Tairan. "Where did you go for supplies?" They went to CrazyFeathers. * Jinx leans up against the nearest available structure. "Fake Injuns? Go figure. I never found any profit in being an Injun when dealing with no-Injuns. Some place called "Crazy Feather's...seemed ta be the only place 'round." * Mikoto grins a little. "Well, you can only expect so much from someone who puts the word 'Crazy' in his name." * Millie shrugs slightly and rolls her shoulders back. "We've got a few minutes for the train. Don't 'ave time ta search all 'round Redrock for supplies ya know." * Mikoto shrugs his shoulders. "Not questioning your decision. Just saying." But Greenpeace'll get 'im...wontcha hunny? * Millie rubs her hand along the barrel of her rifle and sighs happily. * Jinx looks over to Millie, a bit worried. "You aren't going to kill the man for overcharging are you?" * Millie grins mischieviously at Jinx and tips her hat brim back. "Nah. Jus' maybe...scare 'im a bit." * Tairan sliiiiiiides over to John, and whispers. "Am I supposed to talk to my gun like that, or is she just odd?" * Suzunosuke overhears that, and smiles faintly. * John whispers back. "She's just that way... she was doin' it to my rifle earlier." * Mikoto puts a finger in the air. "Not that I'm for swindling, but I'm not convinced threatening a man who calls himself 'Crazy' is such a good idea either." He smles at Millie. "But, as I told Mister Jinx, everyone takes different gambles." (o/~I talk to the guuuuuns...but they don't listen to meeeee.... Don't threaten the man, just find something he wants and overcharge him for it.
