[Millie's on her way to the train station! Maybe she grabbed Pepper before she did it. I dunno; she's working out the logistics, not me.] [Session Start!] * Millie trots her way to the train station. On Pepper, I might add. So there are those logistics right there. She's looking a bit around as she does so, looking for where to check in with her pass and retire her horse for the trip. [The train station is as it's always been. There's a few people waiting around, probably for the train's next stop, a posted schedule, and a bored-looking ticket seller/conductor sweeping the area.] * Millie dismounts and pats Pepper. "Come on girl.." She goes over to the ticket seller. "Excuse me. I was wondering if this pass covered horses too?" * Millie flashes the pass. [He peers at it, then shakes his head. He's an older man, with graying hair and a few out-of-place teeth. "Sorry, ma'am, but it covers one person only."] Raight. So how much ta get my horse on with me? ["Ten dollars, like everyone else. Fair price, all concerned. Where are ya headed?"] * Millie gives the guy an appraising look as she does, looking him up and down with shining eyes. Of course she figures the guy's too old to give the "beautiful woman" discount so she doesn't try it and forks over 10 dollars. (Good question. What's the name of the village? ^^;) (You never got it. ^^;) (...but she knows where it is. @_@ How could she know where it is and not know the name?) [He takes the money and pockets it, but doesn't pull out a ticket just yet.] (You know vaguely where it is. You know it's north. You could guess how far it is... say, if you pushed Pepper hard for a day or day and a half, you'd get there. But you never asked anyone its name.) (And by day, I mean twenty-four hours.) * Millie thinks for a bit, then sighs. "I don't recall the name. But what's the closest stop that, say, a horse could get in a day or so? Up north?" [He looks puzzled for a moment, then pulls a schedule from one of his many pockets and shows it to Millie. "This is the train line."] If ya got a map, it'd help. * Millie takes the train line schedule and peers at it. [He runs a grizzled finger along it. "You wanna go north. The major city up there's Garson. That'd be an eight hour trip or so. Pretty fast, considering even if you pushed a horse to death, it'd take a few days."] Raight...but I'm judging the distance by horse... * Millie scratches her head and tilts it, looking at the map and pointing to Redrock. "I know...it's this way.." She traces her finger along the route until she finds something that looks like an Injun village. [He hrmphs and pulls a cigar out of his pocket, chomps down, and lights it up. He seems perfectly content to let Millie hold the map. "The prarie up north? Between Redrock and Garson?"] Yeah...there's supposed to be an Injun village up there... [He peers, then points at a spot on the prarie. "Right about there, say. Closest stop we got will get you halfway. But that's more than a day's ride, miss."] * Millie takes a deep breath. "More than a day's ride from the trainstop?" [He lets out a puff of smoke. "Petronskivus is a nice enough place, dunno what they were on when they came up with the name... eh?"] Look. An Injun village is up there. Does the train stop near there or not? ["No, I figure you could make it in a day. From the trainstop. Might be there by noon tomorrow, say." He looks at Pepper appraisingly. "Unless you wanna push the thing to death."] ["Heard tales of Slayers- huh? No, we don't stop at any Injun towns, ma'am. Like I said, Petronskivus. That's the closest we can take ya. Got another stop near Garson, then the Garson one."] * Millie looks at the conductor steadily. "But...I could make it there from HERE in about a day." [He looks at her steadily back. "Sure, if you tried to ride at full gallop or a fast trot for twenty-four hours. Haven't you been listenin'? Then there's the sandgators, and Slayers, tellin' ya, train's the safest way to go."] ["Treat your horse like that, and she might die from exhaustion. But it's your money, not mine."] * Millie hmmphs and thrusts the map back at the guy. "Forget it. I'll get there myself." She walks back with Pepper, grumbling along the way. "What's the point of having a stupid train if it don't get you there no faster...?" * Millie stomps down the platform and makes her way back towards the saloon. (with Pepper, I should add.) [He shrugs, taking the map back and putting it in his pocket. "What's the point of having a horse if you're just gonna kill it from galloping through the desert for an entire day? Kids these days. No idea what goes on in their heads."]
