[It's early nightfall! The caravan of former slaves have (or are in the process of) set up camp at the end of the plains. Not another soul's been seen thus far on your march to Redrock.] [The sky is thankfully clear, stars twinkling kindly or mockingly depending on how you want to think about it. We find Mikoto near the campfire. Alexis is there, too, helping prepare food for the huge mess of people.] [Session Start! And such.] * Mikoto is checking his medical bag, which is probably running irritatingly low on supplies. Stupid people being hurt. Not saying much of anything, though. * Alexis is helping people do stuff. [The medical bag is running annoyingly low on supplies, yes. You tell 'em not to get shot anymore, Mikoto.] * Mikoto sighs and snaps the case shut. "Well, I hope this lot can make it back to Redrock. The worst I'm going to be able to treat from this point on is a very specific type of nausea." * Alexis looks over from helping some people set up tipis. "What type? * Mikoto stands up. "Morning sickness." He goes over to his horse and straps the bag to the saddle along with the rest of his things. Ohh. * Mikoto mms a moment, looking around. And then he gets on his horse. "I..." He pauses. "I'm going after them." You're going back? Now?! * Mikoto nods, loosening the reins. "I thought about it a bit. And your story about your father." It's awfully far. And besides, what about all these people? I know it is. I'm hoping you'll stay with them. They like you more than they like me, anyway. * Alexis blinks. "Uh.... I guess...?" * Mikoto pauses a moment. "I've travelled alone a long time, Ms. Fairchild. People've drifted in and out of my life and I've never noticed. But the fact is, if some of those people died, for maybe the first time ever it would make a difference to me. So I can't let it go." Oh. Well, ok then! Good luck getting back in time. * Mikoto looks at the horizon. "I'm going to need it. Where's the closest town with a train station?" * Alexis points east. "That way, there's the town of Burgington. It's... I guess an hour away? The train stops there." * Mikoto nods once. He pauses. "Are you sure you're fine with leading these people to Redrock by yourself?" Well, I don't usually take care of so many people... It's just me and my crew usually, y'know? I'll make it up to you someday. I'm hoping you understand. * Alexis nods. "Sure! It's okay. Just go back there and keep them from doing anything stupid, ok?" * Mikoto manages a faint smile. "No force on Earth is that powerful. But I can at least make an attempt to pick up the pieces." He nods, and then gallops off! [And so, Mikoto heads to a train station! Hope he doesn't get ambushed.]
