Small Stature or Diminuitive Cost: 1 CP/level Relevant Stat: Varies Required PMVs: None Optional PMVs: None Progression: Halved size each level, starting at 1/2 standard character size Reductions: None Restrictions: Less Bonus in one category Small Stature or Diminuitive is purchased for smaller characters and reflects most of the advantages and disadvantages associated with a smaller size. Each level halves the size and quarters the mass of the character. So a character with this at level 1 in a standard modern-day campaign would be about 2-3 feet tall and weigh about 30-60 pounds. At level 2 they'd be about 1 to 1.5 feet tall and weigh 8-15 pounds. When in doubt, round down the level of small stature you take. Each level of small stature grants the character a -1 bonus to-hit with all attacks and also imposes a +1 penalty to opponents to be hit. Smaller characters deal less unarmed damage -- Each level of small stature causes all unarmed and melee attacks by the smaller character to deal two less damage. Furthermore, smaller characters can't use larger weapons as easily. Note that this has no effect on special powers, spells, or other unique capabilities that a small character may have. Smaller characters can't run as fast, jump as high, or are as strong as larger- sized characters with the same capabilities. Small characters run at 2/3rds speed as normal characters (per level), only jump 2/3rds as high (per level), and have their carrying capacity reduced to 2/3rds (per level). Rolls regarding these areas are at a +1 penalty per level. Smaller characters can fit into smaller places, giving them a distinct advantage when it comes to hiding and squeezing through such areas. When interacting with creatures of larger size, they have a -1 bonus per difference in level to stealth rolls. Smaller characters are particularly susceptable to knockback and pushback attacks. They have a +2/level penalty to checks to resist knockback, and if they fail they get knocked back an extra 50% per level of smaller stature or diminuitive they have. Smaller Stature or Diminuitive cannot be nullified, amplified, or otherwise changed. Characters with Smaller Stature or Diminuitive will commonly have the Easily Damaged defect (which will be written when I get around to it).
